Chutney Joe's Cambridge in South Cambridgeshire

It is with regret that I must bring to your attention several shortcomings in the dining experience I recently had. Firstly, the absence of chutney, which we had to specifically request, was a notable oversight. The calamari, when consumed, gave the impression of consuming an undernourished squid. Lacking in substance and flavour, the Duck Tikka, unfortunately, was devoid of any discernible taste, leaving much to be desired. Furthermore, the portion of rice provided was insufficient for two individuals to share comfortably. The cheese naan, upon examination, contained a negligible amount of cheese, falling short of expectations. Despite these disappointments, the Coca-Cola provided was satisfactory.

Food was fairly bland. Lal Bagh in nearby Bourn is much, much better. Food is excellent, classy decor, waiters are well dressed. Everything that Chutney Joe's isn't.

This restaurant is excellent. The staff are friendly and most importantly the food is fantastic! As good, if not better than any other local Indian. I reguarly have take aways and occasionally eat in. I can't recommend enough, the people of Cambourne should use this even more than they do now.

I travel a lot around the UK with work & enjoy a curry, Chutney Joes in probably the best I've tasted. 10/10 every time. Very tasty & fresh

The whole experience from start to finish was absolutely amazing. I booked my reservation online and they quickly confirmed. I am a wheelchair user and they was so accommodating for me. They got the door for me when I arrived and had a table ready that my chair could wheel right up to. All the staff was so polite and kind. The food was absolutely gorgeous! One of the best Indian meals I have had. The atmosphere was peaceful, with slight music in the background which nicely complemented the evening. Was just an amazing night out. Thank you very much for your hospitality. Will definitely be going back for more special occasions.

Spotted this place near to the hotel we were staying on (Holiday Inn Express). AS there wasn't much choice elsewhere thought we'd give it a go and we weren't disappointed. Service was cheery and attentive. Food was top notch and served very quickly. Overall a very nice meal and would highly recommend a visit.

We ordered as follows, poppodoms with chutneys, onion bhaji, chicken tikka jalfrezi, chicken kachi biryani, puri, and some drinks. The poppadoms were fresh and crunchy, and the chutneys were decent. The onion bhajis were nice and tasted fresh. Chicken tikka jalfrezi lacked flavour and was super spicy, but spice without flavour is not enjoyable. The chicken kachi biryani was not true to its name. The chicken was dry, flavourless, and tasted old, and the rice itself was super greasy. The puri was nice but a bit too oily.

Excellent but for a loud group on an adjacent table.

Chick Pea starter was really tasty - smoky and flavourful, but the main disappointed, just a bit lacking in flavour. Service is quick and prices aren't bad.

Stayed in the Belfry hotel , so decided to go here for a curry. The curry was tasty but was quite expensive. The wine was £9.50 a glass and tasted like cleaning fluid. Friendly staff , good size restaurant.

After spent 30£, it feels haven't eat at all.

Just collected a takeaway from here. Very enjoyable, I’m feeling lucky to have a good Indian takeaway in my own village. Recommended… Forgot to take a picture , sorry.

Very impolite waiter don't give you the time to choose what to order so he can get back to his conversation with his friends Then when I ask for a lager, he bring’s it with a half of foam. The dishes were very small and expensive. I was so disappointed about all that so I told him my discontent and he just tried to argue and be even more impolite. I would not recommend this place to anyone

I found my meal to taste quite unique. Sometimes they can be a bit Samey. I had lamb achari. Just the right level of heat, bags of flavour and the lamb was tender. Also the best peshwari naan I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot). I wasn’t keen on the pickle tray - far too bitter and not very sweet. Other than that, service was spot on and food was excellent. I’ll be back next time.

I recommend coming here for reasonably authentic food. Although the food may have similar spicing that makes the dishes all taste alike, it is nevertheless an enjoyable restaurant with plenty of room to seat a larger family.

Was away for business and this was a local restaurant. Food and service was absolutely phenomenal! I cannot believe how amazing the food was! Ended up here 2 nights in a row. Both staff and food were much better than I could have asked for.

We ordered dinner to takeaway via the App. Food was on time and when I went to collect, the restaurant was empty. The food was hot when I got it home. BUT there were a few issues. The most common being chicken in all 3 curries was very dry. The portion size of the chips was very small. I personally had a Chicken Tikka Ceylon and despite the chicken being dry, the ceylon sauce was very watery and made my rice look like it was sitting in a puddle. The flavour was good in all meals but a little milder than I am used to. I probably wouldn't order from here again and have deleted my Chutney Joe account and the app. The price is high for the quality of the food. Portion size is pretty small too. Maybe I was unlucky? £56 for 3 curries, 2 rice, 2 naan breads 2 poppadoms and 1 portion of chips.

Good Food speaks for itself. Spicy Good speaks volumes. And regardless of your taste buds, ensure to try the nearest Indian restaurant when next you enter a new town. I dined at this one. Good food. Great Service.

Ordered many times before but the last was a bit disappointing. The naan bread was stone cold, rice containers under filled. Saag aloo only contained a couple of potatoes. Chicken was dry. Definitely wouldn’t order chips again, for nearly £3 a tiny portion. Taste wise it was nice but not good value for money, it was like they were short on ingredients.

Expensive for what it is offering. For those of you who are looking for a nice place and don't care about money, I should say all of their foods taste really really good. However, keep in mind that you have to pay for each piece of a normal Indian food separately. Rice, Naan, sides, etc all cost you almost more than the main food.

Disappointed really, appearances are great but that is about the only positive I have for my experience. For 2 soft drinks, 1 curry, samosas, rice and naan it was £55 which we though was a little pricey for what we got. The rice alone, plain boiled rice was £3.50 and a tiny portion! Normally I would expect this to be complimentary with a curry order. Everything was too sweet and was muted in flavour, very bland which is something you don't normally find at an Indian restaurant. While I still had a lovely evening out I don't think I will be returning for an unsatisfying meal again.

On the off chance as curry lovers we went to chutney Joe's. Wow best curry I have had in a very long time I would highly recommend.

I had a nice look at the menu and after a good half hour I ordered a nice naan bread. The staff were very good 👍👍 anyway I had a nibble and my stomach hurted 🥴 so I didnt get anymore. The naan is very good as always lads 😁. However the naan left a bad impression in my toilet lol 😂 but hope to come back soon for more of that good stuff 🍞 🍛

Stayed at the Belfry hotel and came across this little gem - lovely ambience and the food is so delicious. I had Chicken Rogan and my mum had butter chicken. Very attentive - just disappointed they charged 80p per poppadom as these weren’t even listed on the menu but offered to us when we sat down. We’ve never been charged for poppadoms before anywhere else. This was the only let down as we couldn’t fault the service or food. Price was more on the expensive side but the quality was great.

We were recently staying at the Cambridge Belfry hotel and rather than drive in, or pay for a taxi into the City Centre I opted to reserve table at this restaurant which is just a few minutes walk away. The welcome was warm, food was great, and the service was also great. I was a bit surprised that it wasnt busier - it was about half full. Its a little gem.

How can it be almost £40.00 for two curries, two breads, one rice & one chips ???? And then the portions sizes are child size ??!!!! Avoid if you are hungry and don't want to pay 5 star restaurant prices for a takeaway !!!

Stayed for business in a very nearby Hotel which had very limited dining options so delighted that reception recommended this Indian. Chutney Joes do not have much competition in this area with only a few restaurants of any kind around but they have not taken this as permission to slack on service. However selection was extensive, well served and more importantly very good. Would not hesitate to recommend. Two of us ate starters and main courses, and as experienced curry fans we were happy. Reasonable prices and a great beverage selection. My thanks to the owners and staff from an Irish based curry lover suffering from a lack of good Indian restaurants in my area.

There aren't many choices in Cambourne for an evening meal so it's reassuring that this place is good for food. We returned the next evening for another meal as we all enjoyed our food. Curry sauces were flavoursome. I had Duck Masala and next evening Chicken Pasanda and both were excellent.

I went to order today online and said sorry we are not doing delivery’s I order all the time from there and have no problem I rang them up and said they don’t take orders over phone do it online told them I have tryed 3 times and said they will get someone to ring me back in 30-45 mins to order then will take another 45- an hour for food y ain’t they taking orders over phone they were rude and had to go else where I couldn’t collect and all they said was collect it I am really annoyed this is 3rd time they have been rode on the phone does anyone else have this do people ring and make an order and do they take it as they wouldn’t from me and I spend lot of money when I do order? Also I had order last week from them was amazing I am not saying there food isn’t good as it is but I must of by accident put a 1 star review they phoned me this week and asked y I put a 1 star review I said I am sorry it must of been an accident and then when I make an order again I get all this tonight do u think that’s a coincidence?

I found this lovely restaurant in Cambourne on Monday 3rd October. I’m always wary going into a restaurant alone but the staff made me feel comfortable and were very attentive. The menu has plenty of choices and the food tasted amazing. Definitely a little gem of a find. Thank you

For £11.20 and this is the portion. 8 pieces of lamb is ABSOLUTE ATROCIOUS. Ridiculous small portion of curry. Look at it 🤯🙄😠 SHOCKING. If there were -5 for scoring, I would've input it on my reviews so I had to go with the lowest scoring. And that's being generous.

Absolutely delicious food and excellent service

What a lovely curry house, fantastic service and gorgeous food. Highly recommend the lamb as it just melted in our mouths. Was staying locally and stubbled across this curry house, so pleased we did.

Our toddler loved the korma, the rice and the nan! Thank you. My wife had a panak also great. And I had some spicy chicken with curry. Loved it.

Came in on the hottest night of the year (40 degrees outside) and it was great to be in the air conditioning. Great menu with lots of interesting dishes, as well as the standard Indian ones. Staff were friendly and attentive, food came quickly and was very good.

In the area for a couple of days and not sure where to eat. This restaurant is really nice and the food was great. I had butter chicken and my husband had lamb dopiaza. Both dishes were very good. Service was great although it was a bit quiet when we went. Will definitely return when we are next down here.

A good selection of dishes here - Nepalese and house specialties, all very tasty. Definitely worth a visit. Second visit there and it's still just as good.

Was staying locally and fancied something more interesting than the hotel could offer. Had a lovely meal - the food and service was really good. The restaurant was a little empty, so I couldn't say the atmosphere was buzzing - but that's hardly their fault. Not cheap - but far from expensive - and entirely good value for the quality and quantity.

Delicious Indian food with huge portions and a lot of meat! The garlic and chilli chicken is a work of art! Also the atmosphere is nice! Top restaurant in the heart of Cambourne! Strongly recommend! Must visit!

I have had many many many Indian meals, but this was probably the best. It was fresh, not smothered in sauce and cooked perfectly.

Staff were good, quick service, not the usual Indian food. clean and tidy with nice atmosphere nothing is perfect and we would probably go again if in the area.

We went in to try it and yes the food was reasonable. Saying that if I was in the area again I would still consider going back. service was good, menu had the usual favorites plus some not so well known dishes.

Decided to try Chutney Joe's by a friends recommendation. Probably the nicest Curry I've ever had (Chicken Dansak), as well as the Lamb Samosa's, not to mention how amazing the Peshwari naan is. So full of flavour and delivered hot both times I've purchased. On the note of delivery service, I was pleasently surprised by an automated phone call when the driver was near by so that you can be ready to answer the door & you receive a text as the driver is setting off, which I appreciate. Live tracking might be the only other possible improvement to this experience, but nothing something I personally care for. Portions are on the smaller side especially in comparisson to other Indian takeaways, so if you want to feel full then definitely need to buy extras (Breads, Samosa's etc and not just a Curry).

ChutneyJoe are awesome. Lovely food, and so friendly, too. Upon request they've made us salt free and sugar free version, so our toddler can enjoy it too! And it still tasted so good, all freshly cooked from scratch. Thank you!

Just spent £13.95 on a king prawn dish and received the tiniest portion I have ever seen! I actually laughed!! I’m so disappointed and the prawns are definitely not kind prawns, just regular and tiny.

Food very poor, lamb was chewy and inedible, rice portion tiny and keema naan with virtually no meat, very poor value for money and not even hot. The only thing that worked well was ordering online and payment but way too much money for what...

Had a takeaway for the whole family this evening, ordered online to be delivered, website was easy to follow and order, delivered very quick, meal was still hot, food was fantastic, would definitely recommend.

Increíble Reservé y no pudieron encontrar mi reserva, entonces les mostré mi llamada. El lugar era un desastre y las mesas estaban cubiertas de platos sucios sin limpiar. Dada una mesa y luego ignorada. ¡Popadoms está bien, pero hace una broma! Cebolla cruda mixta, Cebolla cruda con un poco de salsa de tomate, yogur dulce de menta. La causa principal fue bastante buena, pero nada especial y se sirvió con entrante, y esperamos una hora y 20 minutos. ¡No estaban ocupados! A nuestro alrededor hay mesas esperando el servicio y tienen sus mesas despejadas. ¡Llegué al punto después de una hora y cuarto de pensar en cruzar la calle con chips! Todos me ignoraron, al igual que todos los demás. El hombre principal era bueno pero hacía entregas y cuando estaba fuera era un desastre. Nos dieron cerveza extra gratis, pero yo no la quería. Quería que me cuidaran y tener una comida razonable. Nunca más.

Just been with my hubby and we can say that this is hands down the best Indian we've had(we've had a fair few). We had Jalfrezi and tikka massala and both were just amazing, wasn't oily and was very fresh! Can't recommend this place enough. Thanks for having us!!

Fui allí el lunes usando la oferta para comer fuera, y antes de visitar nunca había sabido que había un restaurante indio en el pueblo, hasta que investigando quién estaba haciendo el trato 50/50, nunca los había visto anunciar. Los procedimientos del C 19 están en su lugar y el equipo de espera todos usaron máscaras y siguieron las otras pautas muy estrictamente y las mesas están bien distribuidas, por lo que se sintió seguro. Pedimos una selección de artículos para que salieran juntos. La comida era deliciosa y no nos sentimos como si tuviéramos prisa ni estaban todo el tiempo preguntando si estábamos bien como en algunos lugares, tuvimos una noche relajante y excelente comida. Algunas personas han dicho que el servicio de comida era lento, tal vez tomó un tiempo salir, pero valió la pena la espera y, después de todo, ¿cuál es la prisa cuando sales con familiares y amigos? Definitivamente regresará pronto el estacionamiento estaba en una carretera cercana útil y si hubiera estado antes, podría salir a comer y luego hacer sus compras más tarde, volveré con otros amigos y posiblemente también utilice su servicio de comida para llevar. Había muchas opciones en el menú y algunos platos nuevos para comer que no he visto en ningún otro lugar.

We had a takeaway from here this evening and I have nothing but positive things to say! The food was delivered quickly and on time. All the food was hot and delicious! The onion bhajis are amazing so would recommend those to everyone! The only thing was the passanda wasn't quite to my partner's taste but that's definitely a preferance thing and not anything they did wrong!! We will be using them again!! 😊

Consistently fantastic Indian food

A Friday booked a table for Valentine’s Day, the food was very good just a shame that the service was not great, having to go and find the waiter on 3 occasions. The place was not busy either just lack of staff and care for the customers.

Myself and my partner waited 1 hour 20 minutes before leaving without eating.Initially encouraged by the mounting customers waiting for their takeaways which were being served promptly and the continued ringing of their phone, we quickly realised that this was to our detriment.The staff took 20 minutes before taking our drinks order and we assumed that this was because they were a waiter down, which we had overheard a member of staff saying to another table.However 1 hour 20 minutes later they arrived with part of our order and it was only when we enquired where the rest was that they advised us that they had run out.Following this we left and visited elsewhere for our evening meal.

Pedimos una comida para llevar en línea, para la colección. Realmente simple de hacer pedidos y pagar, listo para cobrar en menos de 30 minutos. He comido en el restaurante una vez antes y el personal es muy amable y servicial. Sin embargo, mi gran decepción fue encontrar solo 6 piezas de carne en el pato masala, que era un costoso 11. 95) La salsa tenía mucho sabor a tomate. Dicho esto, disfruté la comida y el naan fue muy agradable.

Stayed in Cambourne last night and stumbled upon chuckney joes Indian restaurant,good job we did the food was fantastic and service warm and friendly would definitely recommend to all in the local area and visitors to.

We went here on New Year's Day having found nobody else either open or doing food.They had been very busy but we were the only customers.The place was very clean and all three staff very friendly and attentive.We ordered starters of Pumpperdoms and various sauces followed by naan bread pilau rice and chicken korma.The plates were hot as was the food.Very very nice.We then shared a dessert and had J20s as was driving.Everything was wonderful.Would thoroughly recommend going.

We waited 90mins for our food to arrive! The food was good though it was so late by the time we were served we didn't care and just wanted to leave. It's a shame as the food is usually tasty but I don't think I'll be visiting again.
