Love it here, never disappoints. My favourite place to eat.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and it was simply lovely. This has to be our favourite restaurant ever, we love the food and the service is always top notch and friendly. We had various tapas (maybe five or six dishes) shared a bottle of wine and then a scoop of Blackberry sorbet for afters and there's not a thing I wouldn't order again.

Absolutely fantastic time at this restaurant. Staff were super attentive without being intrusive, food was incredible value and the atmosphere was lively even on a Tuesday. My daughter broke a glass and was mortified, but the staff tried their hardest to make sure she wasn't upset. Will 100% be revisiting.

The vegan selection isn't huge and the lamb koftas were over cooked. The rest of the meal was nice. Service is always friendly.

We chose this place because of the beautiful photos of the cocktails. What was our disappointment when two cocktails arrived incomplete, the staff shrugged their shoulders, no, it was finished, we didn't risk ordering more cocktails. The food was good.

Stunning, gorgeous, incredible! Staff are extremely welcoming and very helpful, the food was outstanding and ready very quickly, with generous portions. HIGHLY recommend the calamari! Atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant felt very cosy, and the décor was tasteful and original. Would suggest this place to anyone and everyone and am very much looking forward to coming back. What a gem ✨

Came here for a work celebration. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble & their banter was the best! The outdoor seating area is beautiful & the food and cocktail's are second to none. Thanks for a great night!

This place has gorgeous decor, really lovely staff and DELICIOUS food. There were 3 of us there and we got a few tapas dishes to share. The servings were very generous and we were stuffed. There's always room for dessert however, which was equally delish! Highly recommend the calamari, patatas bravas and the fig and honey ice-cream.

My first to here, with my friend. Wow the service was brilliant even when busy staff are very attentive, food was amazing as are the cocktails. The staff are friendly and very helpful, atmosphere was vibrant and very welcoming with great garden space with heaters for the cooler evenings. Very much worth and visit and will definitely be going when I go to visit Y friend again.

Absolutely wonderful the service was wonderful my daughter is a coeliac,they do gluten free and when we mentioned this the waiter bought the chef up to explain what she could and couldn't have and what they could swap which was really nice..we kind of new from experience but that kind of care is lovely the food was great the service great we have been been before and will always go back ..for a lovely meal great service and a great selection of drinks and cocktails I could not recommend highly enough 😀

I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there. However the service for our cocktails was very slow and we were often forgotten about and had to ask again. We ordered 2 Espresso Martinis - 1 decaf and a little sugar and one normal. Both arrived with caffeine and sugar. We told them they were wrong, they said sorry and left them both on the table. We were then charged for both. Shame as the setting and cocktails (when they arrived) were great.

Went out for the day in Selsey and came across this place to try out. Honestly I was absolutely blown away. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, absolutely stunning bar with the outside seating SO relaxing and spacious with music that really set a chill vibe. And the food, my god the food was amazing. fresh, good quality tasting food it was SO yum. We will be back very soon! Go here you won’t regret it! Xxxx

So lucky to have this wonderful restaurant on our door step. The high standard set by the owner is carried through to the staff and the food.

Delicious food, friendly staff, very good atmosphere

Food was acceptable, nothing special. Service is diabolical, staff get orders wrong, mains before starters. Service charge around 25% no atmosphere what so ever. Avoid if at all possible or suggest take out only, at least you can guarantee it all arrives at the same time plus no rip off service charge.

Been here a few times now and the food is great.

Food decent but lacked a flavour punch you'd expect with tapas. We pre ordered as a large group but it didn't seem to make a difference in making a smoother service. Unfortunately some tapas dishes came out with the server unaware of what it was and having to get it checked which resulted in food delay and food going a bit cold.

The tapas is so delicious. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and efficient even though it was a busy night. Highly recommended.

Great cocktails and a lovely place, especially the garden at the back, but the food was very disappointing. Nothing like authentic Spanish tapas. Such a pity - I really wanted it to be a great place for the village.

Found on the main street in Selsey, you will find this little gem. From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed by the warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a great menu with a full selection of tapas, cocktails, and moctails. The place is decorated so beautifully. I even have to take a picture of the hand wash station beside the bathrooms. A staff member told me they have a large outdoor seating area that will be open again closer to summer, and apparently its beautiful when it's open, I hope to get the opportunity to go back and sit outside with some more amazing food and cocktails. I would highly recommend it as it's so worth the visit.

Wow what an excellent experience. While visiting family in Selsey we decided to stop for a bight to eat before the long drive back to London. We came across this Mediterranean tapas restaurant and as it looked so lovely and inviting we decided it was the place for us. I had a grilled pork chop with a mushroom and spinach creamy sauce and it was delicious. My wife had a chicken pasta dish and she barley left the pattern on the plate. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and we talked with the wonderful owners and they gave us some insight into the little details all around the restaurant and how some bits they had specially imported. My daughter had some garlic bread some potato cubes and a lovely salad. They also have a bar which serves beers wines and cocktails. The menu is perfect having something for everyone. They have a lovely back garden area and do functions in a private area at the back also. I would definitely recommend calling into Lal Bar if you are ever in Selsey.

Highly recommend the tapas as it covers all bases for everyone to enjoy. The cocktails are to die for and the kids really enjoyed the mocktails too.

A great little find in Selsey High Street. Attentive staff, great selection of freshly prepared and cooked tapas, meze and mains, fabulous cocktail and mock tail list with a great atmosphere inside and out. Definitely worth a visit and we will return.

Great bar with Turkish food and traditional tapas served. Great outdoor seating area. We ordered tapas which was excellent and good value. Staff were very friendly and accommodating of our young baby. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in selsey

Had a delicious lunch here today. Lots of choice on the menu for all of us. Started with cocktails in the pretty garden area, then we're seated inside for lunch. Friendly, helpful staff too. Recommended, will be back!

Booked the Lal Bar last minute, staying the night in a nearby Airbnb in Selsey. Really accommodating for bookings and walk ins. Lots of seating available in the main restaurant and large outside seating area too! We had a few cocktails and some dishes from the tapas menu, may look small but surprisingly filling! Would highly recommend.

Nice experience. Tapas was well worth it; it's a great way to share a meal with friends or relatives and the offering at Lal Bar was varied and tasty The restaurant is well decorated and although it's fairly cosy, there is enough space that meals feel intimate without being crowded. Booking is probably a good idea.

Staff and food first class. We booked a table for 8 pm for a birthday meal.We arrived at 7.30 to be seated straight away unfortunately that’s where everything went down hill. 20 mins to get our first drink I know the restaurant was busy so we accepted that. 20 minutes late now 40 mins into my birthday meal we were asked what we wanted from the menu,40 minutes later we get a plate of olives as an apology for the service and lack of staff due staff shortages 1 and a half hours later finally our dinner arrived and absolutely no fault to the food it was 1st class. Restaurant stop booking in so many people if you haven’t got the staff to cope. I have been in food all my life even though it’s not my bread and butter, you cannot run a business like this,I seen at least 10 people walk out of your restaurant tonight without being attended to. I must say your staff and front of house (Manager)did a fantastic job trying to resolve the situation.

Beautiful garden, had Tapas and cocktails which were incredible! I'm gluten free and had a fabulous choice of tapas to chose from. it felt like I was abroad, lovely setting fabulous atmosphere and great staff. Will definitely be returning. highly recommend!

What a lovely lovely experience good food service ambience was fantastic

Firstly I really don't like writing a negative review and usually only leave a review if a place deserves praise. However, we visited this cocktail bar today for a drink at the start of our holiday, and had a disappointing experience. The mocktails tasted like soda water with a very light flavour, they were OK. We also ordered "hummus and ciabatta" as a side to share, and received one piece of pitta bread with some hummus. The hummus was good, but there was not enough pitta so we asked for more bread. We were not told we would be charged an extra £1.50 for what turned out to be a burnt piece of pitta with the corner chopped off. All the waitroses were very nice, however we raised the issue at the bar and the manager rudely said "what's the matter" and seemed to be annoyed we'd raised an issue "you got more bread so you pay for that", and seemed to think it was irrelevant that we were charged for extra bread without being told. He made no effort to rectify the issue and so we paid the full bill and left - the service from him was terrible. It's not the cost of the bread that prompted me to write this review, but the reaction from the manager which was incredibly rude. We will not be back.

Popped in for a couple of cocktails yesterday. Finally somewhere in Selsey that can actually mix drinks. As always they serve fantastic Taps with the addition of a open kitchen and a beautiful courtyard garden to chill and relax as well.

Friendly staff, good food, mixture of tapas and mezze bits (think they are planning on changing this soon though!) Staff still friendly even after I accidentally broke a plate 😅 would recommend!

Visited a friend who had moved to Selsey and visited Lal as its menu looked good and found a great welcome, imaginative decor, excellent range of wines, cocktails and beers. The food was brilliant, staff helpful and excellent sounds, not intrusive but varied. Visit you won’t be disappointed with the varied menu.

Just been to Lal. Happy hour, 2for1 cocktails and half price pizzas. It's been outstanding. Good company, and that includes the staff. Can't beat it. Come tomorrow, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves.

Love this place if you just want to drink fine if you want quality food fine if you just want cocktails fine looks small from the outside but has a lovely rear garden with heaters and lights to eat or drink outside definitely recommend

Normally really good but last Friday 22/10, having booked a table for 9pm, when we arrived our table was being used. By the time we were seated we were told the pizza chef had gone but we could have Meze. We opted not to have Meze and left only to see other tables being served pizza from the homeward bound pizza chef, who is obviously good at multitasking or has really long arms!! Shame as we are local and you lost at least £150 of business that night and I won't be rushing back now.

We had our first Meal in the Lal, and I must say it was really nice to go out for a meal where the people, place and food was so enjoyable. The staff were all polite, the bar was busy and entertaining watching the cocktails being made. Definitely on our list of special places to eat.

Cocktails woohoo, that’s about as good as it got Actually I was looking for somewhere that served cocktails and LAL didn’t disappoint However it’s a shame the food was so bad. No pizzas and loads of other dishes not available It’s a shame as there was food we wanted to try and couldn’t In regards to food we did actually get, I can’t really say it was that great not that it stacked up to it’s cost, think the bread was probably the best bit…. 3 stars are for the cocktails not the food
