We love Ferry Meadows and usually go to the other cafe but as it was my birthday we thought we would try this one. It’s not cheap to go out for a hot drink and cake nowadays and so when you do, you want it to be worth it. Unfortunately, this was not. Staff were slow and tables dirty but the icing on the cake (or rather not icing on the cake) was the quality of the cake. I chose a lemon drizzle (usually my favourite) but I didn’t even bother to finish it. The cake was dry and rather than being a lemon drizzle, it was just caked in dry sugar which I’ve never come across before. Very odd and not enjoyable. It’s such a wasted opportunity as the view over the lake is lovely but we will continue to stick to the other cafe.

Thank you Lotte and the team for supporting us on our wedding day and making sure food and decorating was on point. Also, we really appreciate the fact you allowed us to add some traditional food items as it was very important for us and our guests. Can’t thank you enough and would hopefully book some more events at this beautiful venue 😊❤️

We had our wedding reception here and it was amazing. Lottie and her staff did a fantastic service. The location sells itself, but when you have a team that provides a fantastic service, it made our special day so memorable. Everything was done so effortlessly and they were very accommodating to our families and friends. We highly recommend this venue and the service they provide.

We stopped here in the afternoon for some food, drinks and ice cream. The staff was nice and polite. Place looked empty inside, as the weather was nice most people were sitting outside. Tables and chairs were dirty and the floor even dirtier. No menus available on the table. When we finally found a menu and went to order they refused it and said the kitchen was closed. Bear in mind this was before 4pm on a weekday, so technically the kitchen was still open. We were told we could have whatever was in the fridge or on display, however all those things and drinks are completely overpriced. Other than that our visit was a disappointment, we went with high expectations and left without any.

Dirty tables, staff milling around with food lost and with no table knowledge of who and where, resulting in cold food arriving. Cake was ok but you have to insist on hot drinks otherwise they will be Luke warm, what a wasted opportunity for someone to get hold of the rains and steer this cafe to success, no shortage of customers just badly organized. Smoked salmon bagel must be stored in a very cold fridge as it was rock hard and dried out, tasteless what a waste. Payed a fortune and was disappointed. Spoiled our day out

After a long 10 mile walk for charity in the rain we arrived to lakeside, cold and hungry! Great menu, cakes and drinks selection. I opted for the house burger which was amazing. Honestly the best burger I've had. the burger tasted like steak, well cooked and presented nicely. A latte and millionaires shortbread completed my lunch and I left happy and warm!!

It was Sunday I had been walking for a while and I was passing though ferry meadows and I decided to stop at this place It was around 11.10 I found a table looked at the menu and straight away I fancied the American style pancakes 🥞 topped with bacon I didn't fancy the healthy option berries. Went up placed order Americano coffee and pancakes 5.95 plus 2.80 for coffee, took my coffee with me to the table didn't have to wait long wasn't disappointed it was the best pancakes I've had for a while never had it with bacon and syrup very tasty .

Louise sat down with my husband and I and helped us with the wedding reception we wanted. the menu was outlined with choices based on taste and affordability. Wrong order 3 weeks running! The first week my husband ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich which came as a bap, not a sandwich, which he sent back to be changed. I ordered poached eggs on toast which were like bullets, not enjoyable at all. The second week my husband ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich which came as a sausage and egg sandwich and he couldn’t be bothered to send it back! I just had coffee which was ok. Today (week 3) my husband ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich and I ordered a sausage sandwich on brown. These arrived as 2 baps so were sent back. When we got them back they were sandwiches but cold!

When we got there, there was only 1 GF option on the menu (one on breakfast but too late). More Vegan options. Disappointing there wasn’t a few more choices. Nice setting and had a drink but didn’t eat.

Arrived at the cafe at 16.15hrs with my daughter and granchild, ordered drinks and cakes, happily enjoying time together, when i was told by one of the staff that they were closing, i said baby was having nappy changed in the toilets, so carried on sitting there till my daughter arrived back to the table to START drinking her tea. Again this person came over and told us basically to leave as they were closing, she even stood there holding the door open waiting for us to gather up our belongings with my daughter still not had a sip of her tea, luckerly there were tables and chairs outside and the weather was warmish for October so we could finally finish our drinks. Why i didnt stand my ground and say "you were happy to take my money (its not cheap in there) 15 mins before you close" but then tell us to leave before we had time to finish our drinks. I found out the following day that week days they close at 17.00 hrs not 16.30. Guess being the only ones in there, they decided to cloe early. Will copy this and send it to the company.

We visited on Sunday after walking the dogs around the lake. All the tables outside that were not in use were waiting to be cleared. So we cleared a table ourselves. The food and drink being served is nice but definitely not worth £1.90 for a can of coke. The food was very expensive and not in my opinion, representative of actual cost even given the current financial climate, £3.50 for a cheese scone! I will in future sit on a bench in the park and bring my own refreshments.

We stop here often after a walk in the park, usually for coffee and cake. Those options are very good, but the breakfast we once had was not that special. You have to come at the right time to avoid the breakfast and lunch crowd because then the line to order can be very long and you have to wait quite a while for your food. Outside seating is nice, but cleaning the tables when it is busy doesn't go as quickly - which sometimes results in trash being blown off the trays.

We looked on the website before we went for breakfast, we are frequent visitors to the park so decided to try out the breakfast menu, firstly on the website there are 3 different prices for the breakfasts which is misleading and also the content is different depending on which link you click . We went in and ordered and was charged £27+ for 1 full english, 1 veg breakfast and tea for two, the breakfast content was not what we had expected due to the menu options on the website not being clear, really not good value for money, the mushrooms were chewy and hard to cut with a knife, the eggs were undercooked, veg sausages were disgusting and the toast came already buttered and cold so was soggy Overall very disappointed, it was overpriced and we can get a cheaper, better breakfast elsewhere.

Very disappointed with our visit today. I asked if there was a dog friendly menu and I was told that there were doggy sausages available. When they arrived I went to the kitchen to ask if they contained onion to discover that in fact they did! If I had given these to my Shih Tzu she would have been very unwell. Please, please do your research, as you would with human food into dog friendly food. Perhaps the addition of a dog friendly menu? I just hope no other pup has been unwell by eating these sausages. The small shop at the entrance to the park sells dog friendly treats and frozen yoghurt so I am amazed the cafe does not.

We stopped by today and ordered lunch, myself, my husband and 2 kids, the meals are on the pricey side but we were hopeful for a nice meal. My husband ordered a club sandwich which had green salad on the side. While my husband was eating the salad he discovered unbelievable mud amongst the leaves and quite a considerable amount. It really all put us off and not what you would expect to find! A waitress took the food away and said we could have a refund for the dish. However the manager came over and very rudely stated that he had eaten most of the meal so no refund. She had such a flippant attitude as if it was no big deal that there was mud in his food. I guess she much be use to eating dirt. We will never pay to eat here again. Lady, your attitude stinks and you're a very poor manager! The breakfast/ lunch menu is comprehensive and looking at the servings served whilst we were there, very appetising and obviously very popular. We are staying close by so will be using it every day and recommend it to all especially those using the park and it’s facilities. They also do a rewards card system with a free drink on the 10th drink. They also carry out the full marriage package from venue and celebrant to catering and party facilities in the park by the lake. Very good parking close by enhanced the whole experience. Thoroughly recommended.

I last left a review a couple of years ago. Therefore my review total is of no direct relation to my actual usage of the Lakeside Bar, even though to be honest we had stopped going for a while after the parking charges came in to play. What happened though a wee while back was that I found a place to park for free, well two places to be precise, and more are available no doubt. The trick for us is to park up at Thorpe Wood or a little further up in Longthorpe at the north end of the Bluebell Woods on that there side of the Nene Parkway (B1260 for non-locals) there is a little carpark. We then stroll down in to the back end of Ferry Meadows across the suspension bridge look for otters in the river and on the banks and carry our dander across to the Lakeside Kitchen & Bar for a round Ferry Meadows pitstop. On our most recent visit we decided on some butties, sausage to be precise, on brown bread to be even more accurate. A filter coffee, tea and hot chocolate creamy, marshmallow offering accompanied those sandwiches. We're not eating breakfasts there any more as my partner refuses to pay the price, so we paid £4.95 instead for a sausage sandwich! Lovely setting, goes without saying, staff always great, building and the care of, brilliant, but onto my moans and groans - side door being closed prevented disabled access, and saying that, the slide door remaining entrance is a heavy old thing for the frail to handle, I helped one or two that were struggling. Also, my pork product had the wrong fat again, my sausage was gristly, Grassmere Farm no doubt. Along with that, the sausage was thin on the ground, too much in the favour of bread in the bread to sandwich content ratio formula. Then along with that, the filter coffee was strong, very so, too strong and, the biggest sin, the size of the marshmallows in the hot chocolate, too big. We want those wee diddy ones that melt quicker. The large ones are for toasting on a stick against a camping fire flame in an Enid Blyton book.I like the Lakeside Bar and I always stress I will be back and I do return often for cuppas only usually. However, I always imagine that the prices would deter your average young family from visiting as I would say that not all young families could afford to go in there on a regular basis. After all, on a value consideration edge of things, at £4.95 for a sausage sandwich the amount of sausage needs to be more generous. My suggestion would be to get Grassmere to make a sausage that matches the size of bread that you use, one longer thicker sausage cut in half would do the job :-)Next time I'll have cake, that always keeps me happy, 5 stars next time maybe Raj ?

We made a point of visiting here for a recent family lunch and would not frequent again. I ordered the club sandwich, which for 9.25 should of been a high standard for that type of price. Unfortunately the fries were luke warm on arrival , the sandwich was awful. The bread had become very moist from the greasy meat and salad, resulting in the inner top and bottom being of a soggy disposition and quite frankly unappealing. Maybe I was unlucky , but it was a most unenjoyable lunch.

My recent visit to the lakeside cafe wasn't a great one. Finding a table was difficult as it was very busy and there was a lot of tables with missing chairs. I went up to order to find that the slushies didnt have prices on and the hot chocolate was very pricey, (£3.25?) The presentation was sloppy and the drinks were hardly warm. When I went to pay I asked for the 10% off for being a caravan club member. The 10% off was only taken off the hot chocolate instead of the whole amount and when I said that I had been given the incorrect change the staff were confused couldnt work out that 10% of £10 is £1 and not 33p. The outside area was very filthy with rubbish and food all over the floor. Very disappointing visit for such a nice area.

I was meeting an old school friend and was trying to find a halfway point between us and opted for here, having read reviews. Firstly it is very difficult to find, so signage is poor. When I arrived it was cold outside, but even colder inside. It wasn't very busy and the staff were in the back talking. The tables were dirty, despite it not being busy. The food on offer was very poor, so I wondered if we were in the right place because many of the reviews I had read were good. Not a lot of sandwich choice for vegetarians and as usual, the same old dull butternut squash or sweet potato dish was on offer. Ended up having a scone which was dry. The coffee was like dishwater and the staff member who served me wasn't interested, friendly or even bothered about checking with a chef to see if there was any alternative food she could offer me. The amenities outside looked very nice, and I would consider doing a walk round the lakes, but I won't be visiting these kitchens again. It was dirty and the staff really didn't give a toss about you.

The three course meal in the afternoon and the buffet in the evening could not have been better and the transformation of the venue is amazing - and such a wonderful lakeside setting. We can't recommend Lakeside Kitchen and Bar highly enough.

I have been a few times, it’s usually quite busy, counter service is generally slow. Tables generally kept clean, however the floor is usually always sticky and covered in cake crumbs by 11am. Cakes take average, drinks are nice, hot food also nice, although can be expensive.

It’s the first time we have used this place for ages but decided to give it another try. I ordered two teas and thought I would have a scone until I realised that they were on the top of the counter, uncovered and next to where people queue up to order. Not very hygienic. We went to three tables before finding one that was clean and the floor was littered with debris, chips, food, drinking straws, sugar, etc. I don’t understand why tables are not cleaned and tidied when they are vacated and a quick sweep up every hour or so. The place needs a good clean. My visit was at about 4.30 pm and nearly empty so staff were surely not too busy.

We hosted our daughter's Wedding Reception in Lakeside Kitchen & Bar in August 2018. What a great venue! From the start of planning the reception a year ago to the end of the wedding party, the staff were helpful and accommodating in every way. They advised us well, paid great attention to detail in preparing the venue on the day and made the room look beautiful. We opted for a BBQ, and were not disappointed, as the food was delicious, and the atmosphere relaxed. The staff who served us on the night were all really welcoming, and professional too. Thanks to you all! We'd highly recommend Lakeside Kitchen & Bar to anyone looking to host such an event.

We booked the Lakeside for a BBQ which was after a family funeral to celebrate the life of my mother in law who passed away just short of her 90th birthday. When she was alive it was a favourite venue of hers with wonderful views of the lake. So we though fitting to celebrate her life. The staff were first rate both in organising the event and during our BBQ. The food was both plentiful and enjoyable. The service was also excellent, being friendly and efficient.

Hosted our wedding reception here and it was lovely. They did a stunning job setting tables and setting the cake up. Went for BBQ option and was amazing although we did over order on food it turned out! Set up our own music to play over their speakers which was easy to do and easy to set the volume. Evening views over the lake were gorgeous. Staff so friendly and helpful!

Been here a few times for coffee when walking the dog. Is nice enough. Dog friendly indoor area. Coffee is ok but not best in area. Service could be a little more friendly although not bad by any means. 3/5 seems a little harsh but 4/5 seems bit generous!

We had our wedding reception here in April and the whole team at Lakeside were exceptional, especially Raj and Louise who were so accommodating and went out of their way to make our day just as we had imagined. The whole place looked beautiful, especially on gloriously sunny day, all the staff were really friendly and the food was delicious too. We would absolutely recommend Lakeside as a wedding venue, it was just perfect!

A café in a lovely setting, perfect for taking a little break from a busy day in Ferry Meadows. Good for kids meals. Would be great if it stayed open for longer, it closes too early in my opinion.

My first visit to this venue in quite some years now, I hardly recognised the place. Thought I would make an impromtu visit with my mother as had planned on walking round the lakes but the weather was against us so we decided to pop in here for a coffee instead to see if the rain would let up. It was quite busy and there were lots of people still walking around the lakes, still a few spaces left to sit though. Ordered decaf cappuccino and a decaf latte (with no sprinkles), asked if they had any gluten free choices of anything to eat (what with us both suffering with Coeliac Disease and cannot have any food/drink containing gluten). The young girl behind the counter said they did have some gluten free chocolate cake which she went out into the kitchen to fetch. She came back with a few slices which had been covered over with cling film so I decided that I would just have a slice between us but then had to stop the girl in her tracks as she then went on to serve up a slice using the cake tongs that had been previously used for all the other normal cakes on display, I asked her if I could have a different slice but with her using some clean serving tongs by which she did so. I must admit the coffees were hot and nice and the cake was quite moist too (considering most gluten free ones tend to be quite dry). On the whole this was not a bad experience but I think staff need to be aware that some people who request gluten free options may have to abide by this diet for medical reasons and not just as a cleaner/healthier way of eating and so must avoid cross contamination with other normal foods, and also perhaps offer some other alternative gluten free options (both sweet and savory).

Been before and was ridiculously slow so hasn’t been, but as was staying in hotel alone for work thought I’d try again, still appalling service, took 5 minutes for someone to come and even sit me down. waited over 40 minutes before paying for my drink and leaving, there was no more than 4 tables in the whole pub. When telling them they had didn’t have a word say about it. Poor management and poor staff. Need a serious overhaul.

CANNOT RECOMMEND BIJOU ENOUGH!!!! Me and my mum did the ultimate bottomless brunch on Friday night before meeting my uncle there for drinks and to listen to the live singer and it was amazing!!! The food was lovely, the drinks were nice and strong and kept coming very quickly and our servers Ash and especially KEISHA were the absolute best!! Service was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back!!

Good basic food and drinks inside QD stores, in Orton centre. There is nothing fancy and the food is definitely not to go out of your way for, but it is good basic food, at reasonable prices.

Good coffee next to the cathedral but a bit on the large side. Atmosphere wasn’t great considering the history that the building it is in holds. Shortbread was good.
