Went along for a Christmas dinner with disco. The restaurant is along the golf course and river but to get there is a dirt track. Once got there plenty of spaces for car parking. The restaurant was clean and tidy and decorated for Christmas period. The starter was a prawn cocktail that comes in a big bowl gin/ vodka glass very tasty. Then we had a carvery with a big selection of meats and vegetables and hot gravy. The food was hot and tasty and the the dessert was sticky toffee pudding with custard WOW other choices was available. Then after had a disco till 1 am amazing.

For a prestigious restaurant I was shocked that I was asked to sign a disclaimer for my nut allergy. I have never been asked to sign a disclaimer in my years of having an allergy and travelling all over the world!I ordered my food after having referred to the allergen menu which was all clear. A young waitress then came over and shoved a piece of paper in my face saying “my manager says you need to sign this.” After refusing we were then approached by 2 managers who also proceeded to make me sign the disclaimer!!The staff seemed like they didn’t have a clue about the situation and how to cater for allergens. All the waiting staff were extremely young , I understand everyone has to start somewhere , but they were all very inexperienced; reading drinks out from the receipt, dropping glasses and generally coming across as very nervous. Maybe a busy Saturday night was not the time to have all the young staff on. The food, when it eventually did come was average. I was extremely surprised by the lack of professionalism of the staff at what I thought was a superior eating establishment in St.Neots. Will not be returning.

Food was good and portion were big. The only issue was the server did not know what he is serving to whom. I believe with that kind of price tag and decor you need someone who would deliver to the person who has ordered.

Hope that I have the correct Lakeside here, a Greene King pub. A hot day and a hungry family, especially 2 small children after visiting the waterpark. A long wait to get seated, a longer wait for someone to take our order and equally as long to get it to the table. That is both drinks and food. We realised they were short staffed as we only saw 2 people serving and it was busy. But no one came and said "this is the situation". Eventually found the manageress, and she was most apologetic, waiving our drinks bill and treating us to ice cream at the end of the meal. Very decent and it went a very long way to placating us. All this was a very great pity, as when the meals came, for my husband and I, 2 meals for one on the burgers, they were very good indeed.

We had excellent service from start to finish however the quality of the Sunday roast was very disappointing for everyone. There are much better Sunday roasts in the area. The children's food was better.

I had researched for somewhere unusual to have a wedding reception, one of the places that really attracted my attention was the Lakeside Kitchen and Bar in Ferry Meadows near Peterborough. We visited a number of other venues, but no-where else could match the practicalities of what was to be our new venue. We wanted our guests to have the freedom to explore and chill out after the wedding service and before the wedding breakfast, so given that we were going to get married near Peterborough, the Lakeside Kitchen and Bar seemed perfect and was only a 30 min drive from our wedding reception. From beginning to end, Raj, Louise and the team were wonderful in every aspect of helping us with our Wedding Reception. Our dates had changed and so had our reception venue, our relatively short notice was handled very professionally, Raj and Louise were absolute gems in helping us accomplish everything on time. Raj was a delight to deal with; he handled the booking and the catering arrangements before referring us to Louise. He manages all aspects of the Lakeside Kitchen and Bar, all our initial enquiries went to him. He answered all our questions promptly and professionally and is a real credit to the establishment. Nothing was too much trouble, Raj was more than happy to advise what menu worked best, but he also encouraged us to ask for whatever we wanted and then advised how much it would cost per head. Both Raj and Louise went out of their way to ensure we were happy and that our vision and desire for our day were being met and that we were both satisfied with the outcome. They even allowed last-minute changes which altered our budget, something which many establishments would not allow.Louise handled all the decor and layout of the venue; she did a wonderful job of showing us all the options and then allowed us to modify anything we particularly wanted. We had chosen a rustic/autumn theme to go along with our barbeque menu and Louise was wonderful in helping us to create what we wanted as well as advising what would work best in the layout of the room. Louise was truly professional throughout, a real pleasure to deal with and a credit to the Lakeside Kitchen and Bar.Louise also handled our reception evening, she and her team decorated our venue before we and our guests arrived. The team had done a wonderful job, the place looked amazing, beautifully decorated with items we had purchased or Louise had purchased on our behalf. There was a minor misunderstanding on our reception drinks; Louise was wonderful in dealing with this promptly, making sure that everything flowed seamlessly the whole evening. She made sure that her team was attentive to us and our guests needs, replacing water jugs and drinks bottles without any request. None of our guests had to ask for anything, it was all dealt with very swiftly and efficiently by Louise and her staff. When desserts were served a few of our guests were missed, but as soon as this was noticed, Louise and her team were swift in apologising and ensuring that the remaining desserts were served promptly. In a wedding, some things inevitably are mis-communicated or misunderstood. We had given Louise our table plans with where we wanted our guests to be seated, we had discussed with Louise that the width of the hall may not allow for laying out the tables how we had drawn them. Louise and her team did a wonderful job of laying the tables as closely to our plans as possible, we were delighted when we saw what they had managed to achieve. Unfortunately, what was misunderstood was the actual seating plan and although the guests were all sitting at the right tables, the order had been confused and so couples had been split up and other folk sitting next to someone they didn’t really know very well. This was something that couldn’t be fixed in time by staff, but where our guests were unhappy they simply swapped with someone else in order to be seated next to their partner. Nobody seemed to mind and it didn’t make any impact on our guests enjoying their evening. It didn’t have a negative impact on our evening, we were enjoying watching our guests have a good time as well as thoroughly enjoying the evening ourselves. The food was delicious; the chef had done a wonderful job of creating what we wanted despite rather extreme wind conditions from hurricane Bryan. Many folks went up for second or third helpings, everybody delighted with what they were eating. The fact that it is local food sourced from the surrounding area is a wonderful testament to Raj and his team. Everything from the salads to the meat was truly delicious, well prepared and the chef truly ensured that there was plenty for everyone. The bacon rolls which were served later as a late snack were also truly wonderful, everyone loved them even if they were still slightly full from over eating at the main dinner – a true compliment to the chef and the quality of the food. Raj is quick to recognise and acknowledge that the food isn’t the cheapest in the area, but I would argue that it is amongst the best in quality and you really do get what you pay for at Lakeside Kitchen and Bar especially for a wedding reception.

I have been to Lakeside Kitchen and Bar a few times for sunday lunch and have always found the food, staff and service outstanding. We have the sharing platter which is two joints of meat, vegetables, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips and yorkshire puddings. Says it serves 4-6 which it did and more! Will be back again soon!
