Very well priced and quality food, the staff here are amazing always pleasant and are more than accommodating nice bar and function room and the ability to sit outdoors in a nice garden area overlooking the lake and golf course.

Lovely place took an elderly man who used to go fishing there Lovely walk around the lake, nice people, lovely staff excellent service.

The usual excellent food, service and atmosphere as on my previous visits. I recommend without any reservation.

Excellent food and lively view.

Asistimos al tributo wham y noche de los 80 con una comida principal. Las comidas eran deliciosas y bien raciones. Tuve la pasta de champiñones y estragón con pan de ajo y fue el mejor plato de pasta que he probado. El personal era atento y cuando pedimos panecillos extra, nos dieron inmediatamente. El acto fue excelente y crearon un ambiente divertido y entretenido. Las bebidas también tenían un precio razonable. Los baños estaban impecablemente limpios y acogedores.

I arrived at Barston Lake at 5:00pm intending to purchase a full-price day ticket to fish for a few hours. When I approached Mark at the desk, I was told I couldn’t buy one because “too many people were abusing the system and staying longer than they should.” Instead, I was told I’d need to purchase a £25 annual night permit and then a 24-hour ticket—just to fish for 3 hours. Frankly, this is unacceptable. If the issue is people overstaying their tickets, that’s a management and enforcement problem—not something that should be pushed onto honest, local anglers simply looking to enjoy a peaceful evening by the water. Punishing everyone because of a few rule-breakers is lazy and unfair. Very disappointing experience.

Gorgeous place to visit, fantastic views. Reasonably priced. Well, worth a visit, you can have a lovely walk around the lake. Dogs are welcome. On leads.

Lovely place with fantastic views, friendly staff and good service, was just let down by the food, which is a shame as the place is really nice. Had the steak and ale pie, which was absolutely dreadful. I was starving as I hadn't eaten all day. If I wasn't so hungry I would have sent it back. It was frozen, not fresh. Pastry was rock hard. Contents thick and stodgy. Meat was tough, chewy and full of gristle. First bite I had was pure gristle. Very unpleasant. So much pepper my mouth was on fire. I love pepper, but this was too much. Tasted like a cheap shop bought pie. Very disappointing. Side of peas were cold and undercooked. Gravy tasted cheap, like granules from a tin. Chips were nice, but it's hard to get those wrong really isn't it? Again, if I wasn't starving I'd have sent this straight back and asked for a refund. I hate to criticise as the place is lovely and I'd like to visit again, I'll just have to avoid the pie in future.

Después de décadas de fabulosas celebraciones en este lugar - 30, Día de la Madre, 70, celebraciones del aniversario de boda de oro e innumerables carpinterías dominicales, estoy muy triste de decir que hoy será probablemente nuestra última visita a The Lake at Barston! Éramos una gran fiesta y estuvimos allí para el cumpleaños de mi papá. Las carpinterías de aquí solían ser insuperables y aunque sabíamos que había cambiado al servicio de mesa pensaba que los estándares se habrían mantenido. En su lugar tenía un plato de comida que se parecía a la porción de un niño. Preguntó por el ‘carvery sin carne’ (£ 10 . 95) y el chef era lo suficientemente servicial como para decir que los pescadores entre nosotros podrían comer salmón que pedimos junto con la carne sin carne y por el precio de £ 18 . 95 (igual que la carne de res) nos pareció lo suficientemente razonable. Sin embargo cuando salió tenía una chirivía quemada, tres asados, un par de zanahorias y una pequeña porción de col y guisantes. El salmón había sido sartén - frito sin ningún intento de condimento o una buena salsa, así que salió una cena seca sin el queso de coliflor (será extra) y pudín Yorkshire que habría venido con el carvery sin carne! Tan decepcionante. El personal era encantador y el gerente vino y habló con nosotros y eliminó el costo de las dos cenas de salmón, pero la constante insistencia en que “el salmón no estaba en el menú y por lo que cobramos el precio del otro menú” para tratar de disculpar el terrible plato de comida que nos sirvieron fue irritante! The Lake at Barston Restaurant, which is beautiful inside, is set in lovely surroundings with, as the name suggests, a large lake close by, around which one can enjoy a pleasant walk. On and around the lake one can often see many sorts of water birds. Different types of seagulls, ducks and swans. The River Blythe meanders nearby and the whole area is a haven for wildlife. At The Lake At Barston Restaurant, which is highly recommended, one can eat either inside or al fresco. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is well prepared and presented and there is a good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Go on, give it a try!

I took my two friends for their birthday lunch today. The restaurant the the staff exceeded my expectations! The food, one jumbo fish and chips, one beef lasagne and one vegetable lasagne were way above what I had expected. They were hot and tasty and served very quickly. No complaints about the food or the service and the prices were very good indeed. I am looking forward to another lunch there.

Las noches de homenaje son muy recomendables. El aparcamiento es abundante, la comida muy buena y el personal y el servicio excelente. Nos parece un valor excepcional y nos hemos convertido en clientes habituales.

Food was average, the dress uniform of the waiting staff left a lot to be desired, and skirts that short aren't a good look when food is being served.

Had a Sunday lunch last week. Food was absolutely awful. Stuffing, pigs in blankets clearly frozen tiny product. Turkey was mushy. Potatoes & veg had no flavour at all. I’m unsure if any seasonings were on this at all. By far worst Sunday roast we’ve had eating out. Really disappointing as it used to be lovely a few years ago. I must say, service was great our waiter was lovely.

Had afternoon tea here, it was ok. Tea was cold and had to keep repeatedly asking for more.

Always great food and a friendly atmosphere

It was our works (late😄) Christmas do last night. I just wanted to say what a fantastic night it was. I'm vegan and as such meals for me can sometimes be quite hit and miss so l was very pleasantly surprised by the vegan option which was tasty full of flavours and very filling. A definite hit. The vegan ice cream was delicious as well so compliments to the chef. The staff were also helpful and pleasant, the service great. The night was rounded off by a very good Elvis. Was this a good night? Absolutely, couldn't fault it at all. Would definitely go again

I can’t thank this establishment enough as I recently frequented it on the occasion of my wife’s ‘wake’ Despite the difficult circumstances the staff were faultless and the afternoon went as well as could be expected It was chosen due to remembering more happier.times with my wife Kim and I had visited the Lakes for various tribute nights

Really good 80s Xmas night. Had the mushrooms, lamb and cheese and biscuits.

I came here for a work Christmas meal. It was really lovely, atmosphere was good, food was nice and the entertainment was absolutely amazing 🤩 we came for the ABBA +70s night and we had a really good time. 💯 would recommend

Fished a competition at the lake and came back to at least ten anglers vans broken in to. Apparently been happening for years but nothing gets done about it !! They charge enough for tickets and about £8 for a bacon sandwich !! And they can't afford to hire a guy for security in the car park ?!!! Not a pleasant place to visit as you can't relax not knowing if your van doors are going to have holes drilled into them !!

Food was uneatable limited menu , the chef and manager need sacking Consider bringing back carvery with portion control on veg It's a shame as it's a lovely setting

Fantastic night, Elvis was great also staff very organised and polite. Been here several times and I would recommend for anyone to go here.

A fantastic venue for a party. Stunning setting, wonderful food and best of all an attentive and helpful team that couldn’t do enough to make the whole event amazing astounding success.

Lovely restaurant in beautiful surroundings. Staff are helpful, and parking/access is easy. Nice to grab a coffee from if your walking around the lake. Reasonably priced in a nice environment. You can sit in or outside and live sports on the screen if you fancy sitting in.

We took 36 men from calderfields today to play golf,fantastic,food ,service , and golf course great,Nothing was a problem for the staff, loverly day out.8

Plenty of space between tables. Quick, friendly service. Most meals were good. However, the Sunday lunch was a letdown. Not piping hot, tepid roasties and veg, Yorkshire pud was small, cold, and dry. Ham was tender and full of flavour, and beef was thin slice with not much flavour. Puddings were good.

We enjoyed a lovely night to celebrate my brother in laws birthday. It was a tribute to The Rat Pack. The meal was nice. The location is very impressive particularly on a sunny summers evening. We stayed in Meriden at The Strawberry Bank Hotel. The family have attended other events and no doubt we will return. The staff are hardworking and responded positively to our birthday requests. A good, fun evening was had by all.

We had a wedding here on 27th July, we was one of the first to get married outside, it was fantastic, Amy was amazing from start to finish and made sure our day was perfect, food was great and of course the surroundings are just stunning. All our guests were looked after well and nothing was too much trouble all the staff were great so thank you 😊 we would recommend over and over again 😊

We had a fantastic time for a 70th birthday party... Everything we asked for! was done for us! The Staff worked hard all night to make it a special night for my sister Jean.. Caroline the organiser did so much to get 45 people together for the surprise and couldn't have done more! The band was great too! Dancing all night long! 5 stars all round...

We had our wedding reception here and would highly recommend!! The day was absolutely perfect from start to finish and it wouldn’t have been possible without Amy and the other staff members. Amy goes above and beyond and always made me feel at ease and helped me with the planning of the wedding throughout. Incredible views for photos with the lake in the background also for pictures. Thank you for an amazing day.

My wife and I hosted a special birthday celebration at The Lake this last Sunday. It is the first time that we had organised such an event at this venue. It certainly will not be the last time we go there. It is such a good place to meet up.with family and friends. We used a room off the main dining facility. The tables were well set out and everyone had room. The staff were polite, friendly, efficient and professional throughout our stay. The food was outstanding. It was presented excellently It was hot, tasty and of good portions.The drinks were sensibly priced too. Everyone in our party was very complimentary about everything to with with The Lake. They all said how brilliant it was. The ambience, food, service, decor, space, service etc. We would not hesitate in recommending this venue for any type of gathering, even just s drink and an unwind overlooking the 18th hole and, of course, the lake. Give it a try. I would be surprised if you did not enjoy your visit.

My Wife and myself went there today for lunch - the scenery was stunning - the staff very pleasant and helpful - Owner John came and said. Went last Sunday with a lady friend, the setting is lovely with Lakeside views. My lady friend had the beef roast dinner which was terribly small and did not offer good value for money and they forgot the Yorkshire pudding. I had fish and chips no problem big portion of everything. The quality was perfectly acceptable home, made chips so not frozen out of a packet and mushy peas although I would have preferred a choice I would have had garden peas. Also the tartare sauce was homemade. The selection of beers which are quite considerable are all rubbish no real ale no cask conditioned ale and most of the beers were not even British. There is a photograph of the roast dinner showing a least three slices of quite thickly cut meat, however my lady friend had only two slices of very thinly cut meat. It was supposed to be 5 ounces of beef I would guess it at probably about one and a half ounces. There was nothing really wrong with the roast dinner it was just a bit bland boring and really small and overpriced. Two thin slices of beef thin watery gravy a few peas a few bits of sliced carrot, and a bit of parsnip we did eventually get the Yorkshire pudding. Sun came out so after finishing eating we took our drinks outside beautiful setting.

Así que terminé bebiendo la casa Shiraz en su lugar. En cuanto a la comida solo teníamos platos principales. Tenía pescado con papas fritas era de calidad decente y una porción muy grande, no me puedo quejar. La salsa tártara era casera no de un frasco. Las patatas fritas eran patatas fritas adecuadas no congeladas de la bolsa bastante crujiente y crujiente recién hecho. Mi amigo tuvo el almuerzo de domingo de carne asada, la porción estaba realmente en el lado malo no hay Carvery, lo que es una pena, eran solo dos pequeñas rodajas de carne de res en salsa de guisantes zanahorias papas asadas chirivía, pero desafortunadamente se olvidaron del pudín Yorkshire, así que tuvimos que pedir eso. El asado de ternera estaba bien, pero preferiría mucho un carvery y definitivamente era malo si tienes un gran apetito. Sin embargo, para un aumento de precio hay una porción grande y para los niños hay una porción pequeña. La cena de ternera fue servida en un plato bastante pequeño pensé que era una porción infantil pero lo cuestioné y no lo fue. Así que la comida está bien, pero no excepcional y la cena de carne asada supongo que en equilibrio fue tal vez un poco decepcionante, especialmente el pequeño tamaño de la misma. El entorno es precioso y desde el restaurante se puede ver el enorme lago y el personal era agradable. Hablé con el gerente sobre la falta de cerveza apropiada que era muy agradable, le hice algunas sugerencias, tal vez podría mantener un poco de cerveza decente en botellas para que no fuera un desastre, fue solo un poco decepcionante. Sin embargo mi amiga me dice que todavía tiene hambre. Ahora si pudieras venir en un hermoso día de verano inglés podrías sentarte afuera es fabuloso. Así que un poco de una bolsa mixta, pero espero que mi crítica les ayude a tomar una decisión.

The Tribute nights are very good value, decent sized meal with alternative choices. Drink prices are good, with a draught beer as well.

Hoy me decepcionó. Llevo años viniendo al restaurante Barston Lakes. Me encantó el lugar. El carvery fue increíble. Tienes una buena relación calidad-precio. No había carvery, el menú ha cambiado completamente ahora. No nos gusta el nuevo menú. Le pregunté a una camarera por qué ha cambiado el menú, ella dijo que era para acomodar a los niños, presumo que los padres se quejaban de que no había opciones de niños, desafortunadamente no volveremos. Algún adulto tenía pescado y patatas fritas servidas a ellos, pescado y patatas fritas en un domingo realmente. Qué le pasa a la gente.

Amazing place for wedings and spot of golf and fishing

Fancied chilling out Sunday afternoon/evening and wanted to go somewhere chilled relaxing and not so busy. This was just the place. West midlands golf course. Lovely bar and awesome views out onto the lake and green. The staff are friendly and attentive. Good selection on tap and prices are reasonable. Perfect Sunday afternoon.

My second visit to their cafe this year. Great service . Tasty , good quality bacon & egg sandwich. Each time I included a walk around the Lake. I'll be back again in June .

Went to see the Jersey 4 with my girlfriend and her mum,can't fault anything from the night.Service was perfect,as was the food and entertainment, will definitely be coming back soon, thankyou to all the staff.

We visited the lake on a dog walk and decided to stop at the outdoor part of the restaurant for Sunday lunch, we ordered the food and three of us decided to have toast dinners, this was duly served and one roast beef dinner had two and a quarter thin slices of beef which was rolled up into separate round shapes, the roast potatoes were over cooked, burnt on the outside and not a lot of potatoe on the inside, the vegetables were watery and there was no parsnips on thus plate of food. The other two were turkey and beef roasts dinners, one had no Yorkshire pudding, one had no stuffing but both had as much beef as the roast beef dinner, and also two good slices of turkey, the waitress did bring a bowl of potatoes and parsnips to the table which was really lovely, we were overall disappointed with our meals but no one appeared again to ask us if everything was OK, the dog had a good feed from the leftovers, we have been to this restaurant on many an occasion and we have always enjoyed our food, but today was very disappointing.

We booked to have a celebration meal for our Golden Wedding. We were looked after very, very well. From the booking to the meal everything was dealt with in a friendly professional manner. The meal was wonderful and the service excellent. All our guests expressed how much they had enjoyed the experience. Thank you to all concerned.

We have been going to the Lakes tribute shows for about 18 years, always have a good time,the food is always very good,and the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.

Very disappointed . Lovely place but Sunday lunch was not good and not good value at all. Main Meal served on a plate bit bigger than a side plate for 18.95 . 1 parsnip spoonful cabbage . Meat tough and slapped on plate Bit gravy. The place is lovely staff were nice Even though we had to eat birthday cake on patio.

Great views, and lovely food, all served very efficiently by friendly and helpful staff, with our large group all being served nearly simultaneously.

Because we were on the last table I think they forgot to bring our starter so we informed the main man who quickly sorted us out with an extra roll. Food was really good. Staff very hard working. Will be back soon.

Had a good night out, it was a bit like being at a wedding, if you know what I mean. Drinks were reasonable, apart from Guinness that has nearly £7 a pint. Main courses were good, starters and puds ok. The staff worked their socks off and were very good. We went to a party night and we were disappointed that the band was only on for an hour of the night.

Food was unfortunately bad. Very dry and not so many options to be fair, for the way the place looks, you’d expect something else. Ordered at the bar, but food took a very long time to arrive. Would not come here to eat, just have a beer and enjoy the view.

Small quantities of tepid, undercooked food. Some desserts had run out. Gone massively down hill since the carvery was stopped.

Nice three course meal. Friendly staff. Followed by great entertainment and dancing. I'm 77 and was congratulated for being never off the dance floor on new years eve. Great night out. Ideal for something special.

Great place for a party, drinks are reasonable, don't get ripped off like other venue's.....food was good, service was good. Entertainment was great with a late bar as well!

We attended a meal/music evening last Saturday. The food was good, the group brilliant, drinks reasonably priced and waiting staff friendly and efficient. Unfortunately they didn`t stop people taking drinks on the dance floor and my partner had a drink spilled down her back.
