La Tana in Brighton and Hove

We visited last night for a family dinner and had the best time. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and Ali the owner is warm and friendly and really takes pride in creating a wonderful experience for his customers. The food is delicious and portions are plentiful. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant was really nice and had a romantic feel to it, I made a booking for 20:15 but didn’t get seated till 20:30 as they didn’t have a table ready for us which was a little bit annoying as I’d heard good things about the restaurant and was looking forward to going, once I sat down with my partner they brought our drinks over , the food was out quick and service was excellent, the staff was really friendly and approachable, the food was a little pricey but I can understand why it was incredible full of flavour, I’d definitely go again

Best Italian restaurant in Brighton. So lucky to have it in our local area. Been here several times and it’s never been anything less than fantastic food, great service and a relaxed warm setting. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. Definitely worth a visit

He obviously takes pride in his restaurant and strives for the best food and service. One of the best Italian meals I have had. Had a fantastic meal (again !) at La Tana last night. Really enjoyed our Calamari, Whitebait and Scallop starters. My fillet steak was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with lovely, well cooked vegetables and a really tasty cheese sauce. My husband had the Dover sole and loved it ! Unfortunately we were too full to sample the pudding menu...next time ! This restaurant is fantastic, great service, lovely staff/owners and all in a beautiful, contemporary setting ( love the new glass addition to the front!) Can't wait to return. Thank you for a really great evening.

Good quality food friendly staff

Outstanding food quality, very authentic. People working there are amazing, attentive without being too much. I recommend calzone and hot stone steak. Mussels were very good too.

Was looking to book but watched the video clip and seen the table seating plan very close to each other. I don’t really want to sit close and having to hear other peoples conversation.

Loved our meal for 5, sensible menu with a nice variety to choose from. All of us enjoyed our 5 different choices from the menu. Warm, helpful and friendly service from the owner and server, worth every penny. Tip, they make their own burger bun, and it's fresh each day, and excellent apparently from the eater.

Excellent all round. We went for a lunch. It was quiet, we had restaurant to ourselves. It was lovely, we were very well looked after, very friendly. Food was just 1st rate. Can honestly say best carbonara I have had anywhere.

Comfortable atmosphere immediately relaxing. Fittest of ordered just a nice wine, this transpired to be “ Negroamaro red Wine‘ highly recommended if you like fruity, only slightly sweet end with a small dry taste, great. Whitebait starter. Excellent. Cesar chicken salad, great presentation, and plenty of it.my only disappointment was the cesar salad dressing, was weak and not my choice I prefer a punchy anchovie dressing. I accept that there are many variations of dressing. Overall well worth the visit for the greeting, wine and food. Thank you

This was an absolutely fantastic find - out of town, good value, amazing food and service. Genuinely well cooked Italian food bursting with flavour - amazing fresh pasta and gangster prawns. I'll most certainly be back!!

Once again a marvellous dining experience at very short notice on a Saturday night. I chose the spaghetti with langesteine and white wine sauce, which was exquisite. My parter the Dover Sole, which was the best she had ever experienced. The fun couple who joined us chose the special chicken dish. All washed down with a full bodied perfect house red. Deserts were lemon sorbet, sticky toffee pudding. A gastronomic delightful evening with chat & laughter, a perfect evening. Compliments to the chef and cheerful staff. Thank you

Nice location, not far from football field. Retaurant was almost empty apaert us and 2 other customers. Both of us ordered pizza, but it was served half burned. I didn't dare to make photos. I rwally wanted to return the order, but we didn't have much time as were on the way to final destination. How i undertand us served owner of the place. What sulrised me she served burned pizza with no guilt at all. No apologies, just asking wether we were ok!!!! Pizza itself was normal, nothing better than domino's to be honest. Will i return? NO. Overpriced for the quality, but nice place to have a drink

Great food and service. I've been here several times and every time the food is fantastic. Great friendly staff. The specials are a family favourite. Prawns are to die for! I live 50 miles away, but the family are always willing to take the trip with me as it's really easy access from A23. Definitely worth a trip if traveling from London to Brighton. Really easy to park. I'll be back again and again!

Lovely food and friendly good service. We had a really good meal last night. Staff were attentive and welcoming. Can highly recommend the crab ravioli. The fiorientina pizza was cooked perfectly with the egg yolk still runny - best I’ve had anywhere.

I actually called La Tana and ordered a dinner for collection. They were massively helpful despite how busy they were and told me my food would be ready to collect within 20 mins. I went and collected my dinner for 5, was given a complementary bottle of beer and helped to the car with all my grub. Once home...what a dinner! Generous portions, delicious all round, every single one of us including my fussy kids, wolfed down the food. It was great. Will deffo go and eat there too, just lovely. Lovely people, excellent food.

We visited the restaurant last night for my partner's birthday. We have used the restaurant before, a long time ago. The food was amazing. I had mussels to start & partner had Calamari. The cream sauce with the mussel's was sensational. Main I had seafood pasta - again the sauce was exceptional. Partner had Pollo Penne & he loved it. Even though I was full up, I just had to have the creme brulee - yummy. We could not fault ANY of the food. I even took a takeaway home for my daughter - Carbonara. She loved it & is going to visit the restaurant with her partner. The 2 ladies who served us were so lovely. Friendly, welcoming & efficient. Although we live in Hove, we will definitely be visiting more regularly. The lighting & ambience is just right. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Left a not saying dont ring the door bell and driver rang it any way and woke up my baby, food was all cold and overpriced £5.50 for a single bit of garlic bread. Bonoffie pie never turned up and when we rang the resteraunt to get it re delivered they said the driver wouldnt go.... applied for a refun through app but havent heard back

Lovely mid-week dinner at La Tana, full restaurant, buzzing! Staff absolutely lovely and Food incredible! I asked for a Seafood pizza (not on the menu) was absolutely to die for and a wonderful Negroni! Dough balls with mozzarella were a very nice start of the dinner, bruschetta very flavourful with fresh and crisp tomatoes, wife’s lasagna was saucy and cheesy to the right spot and pizzas very very good! Thank you guys

First time here but certainly not the last. Top marks on all counts so won't spend too much time on that. I would say however that La Tana prepares Italian food in a way we've not experienced before. All recognisable and totally delicious. Just that it was also different to the way other Italian restaurants serve the same dish. Wonderful food, wonderful service and wonderful surroundings.

Visit head here this evening. A lovely meal was served by Priscilla who was so friendly, so smiley and so lovely to us. The meal came quickly and tasted delicious. I know that a lot of meals get heated up in a microwave in the kitchen but I didn’t really want to see my meatballs being poured out of a plastic tub after the clingfilm had been taken off it after it has just been taken out of the microwave. It really took away from the authenticity of it. also watching the prawns being poured out of her plastic bag wasn’t the nicest thing to watch either. The tiramisu was pretty much the worst I have ever tasted. The food tasted delicious and the staff was so friendly. The atmosphere was so lovely, which is why I have given it. To be fair this was an Uber Eats order but have eaten at la tana a number of times. Lasagne delivered as clearly reheated and watery. One had no pasta other was mainly burnt with fresh sauce thrown on top not ideal. Steak was OK, spaghetti dish was OK. Pretty weak given the price is restaurant prices. Disappointing and won't order again.

This is a lovely place with friendly people. Food is high quality. They have some wines you won't easily find elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I went to Brighton and especially this restaurant for the first time after a friend recommended us. The service was as usual, literally nothing over the top, very basic. Upon being charged nearly £7 as optional service charge on top of £70 of bill , I requested to exclude that from the bill simply because it was optional and I didn't find the service worth £7 at all, literally after making the payment, I find the managing lady at reception swearing and abusing at both of us as we were walking outside the place. The food and service were okayish but being called out for denying optional service charge is literally so pathetic and cheap. If you expect a handsome service charge, make sure to provide the service that must be worthy of amount. A very basic and obvious service wasn't worth £7. Definitely not visiting again!!! Terrible experience!! Would have rated ZERO if such was an option.

I recently tried La Tana Restaurant and was extremely disappointed with their pricing tactics. They engage in predatory pricing, luring customers with seemingly low menu prices, only to hit them with exorbitant and overpriced bills once seated. Charging £29.95 for pasta with prawns only in a mediocre venue is nothing but an attempt to fool customers (even the receipt was issued under misc food). When I asked the waitress how this was justified, I was told that the pricing was the owner's decision and that she had nothing to do with it. This deceptive practice left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I won't be returning. Eating out should be an enjoyable experience, not a financial trap. Beware of this restaurant's pricing schemes!

This is a fantastic restaurant. We dropped our daighter to Varley Park campus and needed dinner before the long drive home. The service was excellent, and the food was well presented and tasted perfect. Do give this restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed.

Superb Italian food and friendly staff. If you visit Brighton or the area, it’s a must. Even on your way back to London, it’s just 2 min out from the road and you can park in front of the restaurant.

We have been visiting La Tana for approximately 10 years. It is our “go to favourite restaurant”. Always guaranteed stunning food, fabulous atmosphere and friendliest service possible. The owner Ali makes everyone feel special and is passionate about his restaurant. Couples, families, special occasions…. everyone is always happy. I’d recommend trying to book beforehand if possible. Mind you the staff will also move tables etc to try to accommodate customers. Last year I brought my family friends and one of party is a highly respected chef. He was impressed and very complimentary about La Tana. So if you haven’t been I really do advise visiting La Tana. (Don’t make it difficult for me to find a table though 🤣.)

My wife, son and myself went for an evening meal to celebrate my birthday. We had to pre book and it was very busy. The staff were very friendly, the service excellent, the place very clean and the food extremely enjoyable. We didn't bother with starters. I had the steak (cook your own on a hot stone) this was served with chips and a beautifully prepared/designed salad. 3 different dips were supplied and also very decoratively presented. Ok so I cooked it to my liking but what a steak and so tender too! My wife had a prawn pasta and my son chicken. They both throughly enjoyed theirs. We all had a dessert and a drink followed by coffee. Total cost under £140 including service charge. We would 100% return.....it was lovely. Richard & Fran

Used this place a lot during covid to order takeaways - always had some of the best pizza. Decided to have an evening out and thought we would go here. Excellent service and very attentive, great menu choice with the flexibility when it came to making a change for dietary reasons. Well priced and washed down with a very nice wine!

What a treat - family run restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and friendly welcome. Food is reasonably priced and fresh ingredients are used. Good portion sizes and nice wine list. Prompt service. This restaurant is nearly always fully booked at the weekends so you will need to book in order to avoid disappointment. Cant wait to return and will definitely be back.

What an authentic, wonderful place. Real Italian music. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The sauce had real depth and flavour. On our next trip to Brighton we are definitely stopping here. You should too!

Well what can we say about this place, the food is out of this world. If you have to eat please don't pass this place. If you're visiting or leave nearby you NEED to come here. You'll never go to another Italian again. The staff are brilliant the food is even better. We will most definitely be coming back. The whole ambience is top notch, the decor is very tasteful and not over the top. Unfortunately we didn't get to have a dessert as we were too full but they looked just as good as the starters and mains. Please don't pass an opportunity to come here. You will not be disappointed

Popped in on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was already half full. Lovely, friendly service and delicious food. The steak on a stone was fantastic with the meat being very tender. Will definitely go back.

Had pre dinner drinks here on a hot Friday afternoon. Lovely setting in the Lanes in Brighton. We sat outside next to the fountain. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks for the location. Recommended.

We wanted to sit in the Igloos outside, but they do get booked up in advance. We had a walk-in and found it easy to get a table and didn't have to wait. As soon as we sat down someone came over to take our order, although we hadn't had a chance to check the menu yet. However, once we were ready to order the restaurant staff are friendly and attentive. They didn't have a lot of the syrups in stock so drinks menu was limited, but they offered to make me a strawberry mojito which isn't on their menu so I really appreciated the service to try and cater for me. We had the Crispy Fried Squid and Seared King Prawns for starter, both of which were really nice and I would recommend. For mains, I had the Devon Crab Linguine which was really nice, you get a good amount of pasta although I couldn't finish it all! My partner ordered the British Flash Steak which he found a bit tough, but the fries it came with were delicious!

We ate here while visiting friends who live local. It's one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten in. Excellent food

We had dinner here on a Tuesday night - very nice and quiet setting. Free street car parking available. Waiter and owner were very attentive and kind. Owner is from Naples - Italy. Nice Italian music was playing. Comfortable chairs. A lot of space and tables. Very romantic and family friendly atmosphere.

Lovely food and very well presented. Found the prices a little expensive considering the restaurant is not in Brighton. Our total for two was £33.00, two main courses, one desert, one beer and two coffees.
