La Roche in City of London, Westminster

The last time we will walk into a place without looking at the 3.8 stars this place has… it deserves 2 stars if that. The waitress is very pushy and rushed you. We got a 2 lattes, a breakfast sandwich and a yogurt. The breakfast sandwich was two slabs of white bread, 1 scrambled bland egg and burnt sausage. The lattes were awful.

Came here to drink only, waitress/manager wasn't polite, friendly or anything else. Mojito wasn't that bad, but she said "No Happy Hour" while the Happy Hours sign was displayed in front of the bar. Not even a smile, just putting things under your face, whether it's your drink or the bill... Even refused our friends while there was other seats/tables for them to take. Kinda sad to be like that. Food looked good, and many drink options (didn't see how it was inside tho)

Lovely little café in the heart of Covent Garden. Service was friendly and fast & the food (we had the veggie breakfast) was of great quality. They also have a range of tarts & patisseries that looked fantastic (but unfortunately didn’t have one this time). They do charge 12.5% service charge. Normally I’d tip approximately 10% anyway.

Nice cappuccino & cake, BUT £13? I won’t be back!

Easily the worst tasting red velvet cake I’ve had in my life. The juice was warm as well.

We stopped to eat at midday. The food wasn't bad but not exceptional! A packet of mayonnaise is out of date. The service is OK but we are refused to close the door even though it is cold in the restaurant. Even the waitress puts on her vest.

Well located, comfortable place with good views of the street. But the food is too expensive for what it offers. I ordered a traditional English cream tea and it came with a separate loaf of bread with butter, cream and jam for us to assemble on the spot.

We chose the Afternoon Tea for two and it was great! Largely sufficient quantity and quality, it was very good, I recommend.

We shared a delicious burger, chips, and salad. We were able to sit outside and not get rained on. Very pleasant.

Visited here a few times now whilst in London. Breakfast is lovely. Good size portion and steaming hot. Bacon cooked to perfection. Service charge is very steep though.

The absolute worst food and worst service I ever experienced in London. I asked the server about the wing sauce and she told me "I wouldn't know since I haven't tried it". There were two servers and both of them had the most amazing attitudes I have ever experienced. They have a mandatory "service" charge because their service is so terrible they know that their staff would never be tipped. Horrible experience. ALL AMERICANS DO NOT SPEND YOUR AMERICAN DOLLARS HERE.

Terrible coffee cost 10 GBP for two cappuccinos - not barista made coffee, if you enjoy a good coffee go somewhere else :)

Poor service and expensive drinks . We were told we couldn’t go outside - we were a large group- as it was booked yet this turned out to be untrue. A traveller was refused the loo as he wasn’t buying anything … it’s s shame as it could be a great spot . Don’t waste your time there .

The restaurant had a charming and cozy atmosphere, and the menu items sounded promising. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The beetroot avocado salad was bland, tasteless and lacked flavor. The steak sandwich was excessively greasy, and the seafood paella was underwhelming in taste. The service was not bad.

Il y a mieux dans le quartier. Nous avons eu l'impression de déranger les serveuses. Les plats ne sont pas bons. Le cuisinier à la main lourde avec le poivre (et pourtant nous sommes adeptes des plats relevés). Les produits ne sont pas de bonnes qualité (et pas frais). Et si vous avez une grande faim passez votre chemin. Les portions sont petites pour le prix.

All we ordered was Croissant and coffee. I expected French style just baked crispy croissants. What we got we small doughy, Soft straight out of the freezer into the microwave. For over 7 quid with a juice and jam. Coffee was lukewarm also. Not a good experience.

Was in mood for breakfast that is more elevated then a grab-and-go but not a full on heavy spread. Nice relaxed and intimate vibe. English breakfast options in addition to options like eggs Benedict, omelette, etc. Decently priced for the area. Nice to go to a non-chain restaurant.

Kindly asked a member of staff if I could use the loo and she said yes, on my way out I got told off by another member of staff. Been here a few times on our visits and left a previous 5 star review which I have removed. Won’t be coming back as a customer.

A cafe that is open late in this busy area. Hazelnut cookie highly recommended. Selection of cakes available. Very clean,well.lit and tidy. A bit on the expense side but that is to be expected.

So awful. Started with chicken wings - you get 2. The menu does not specify that you only get 2 wings. And it's £10!!!!! Got the pork ribs - supposed to be honey glazed - they were smothered in gravy. They were so dry and tasted like they had been cooked the day before and reheated that day. Friend had the steak salad - steak came out well-done - he wasn't asked how he wanted it.

Traditional Indian music is not exactly my favorite, but everything else was perfect! The most delicious food I've tried in London!

We came in for an afternoon snack after several hours of sightseeing on a hot day. Unexpectedly, the food here was barely Mediterranean at all. The Med dishes ordered were mediocre/inauthentic at best; fish and chips were good but quite underseasoned. Comfortable cafe with nice bathroom. One waitress was nice and one was surly. Also quite expensive; I get that this is a popular tourist area but considering the quality of food, we hoped for better. The cakes at the back looked quite nice, but we were put off trying them.

Be careful when you pay! We split the bill and the waiter rushed the card reader in front of the face of the last person without saying clearly the price, he then overcharged us £10 in the end (i.e. on top of the service charge). When this was spotted he claimed it was just a harmless calculation error. Suspect this is a little tricky to bring in some extra money! Suspicious.

Next to Trafalgar Squad you can have coffee and delicious cake. Opposite La Roche is the Duke of York's theatre, which gives it a significant air of talent. The meals they offer look phenomenal. Quiet atmosphere ideal to enjoy a coffee in London.

Nice cafe with friendly staff. There are sockets at every table where you can charge your cell phone. I had a fruit tart that was really top notch, although £7.50 is a bit excessive. But that's probably how it is in London.

This is the perfect cafe for brunch, we all had a delicious meal with great service. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great central location, ideal for theatres. We enjoyed our meal and the food was good. Be aware however that the menu on the website seems to have much lower prices than the menu you get at the restaurant. That said, the prices we paid were fairly typical for the area.

The lamb shank was 10/10 and the staff are lovely too. Definitely recommend:)

This place is nice!! The food is good, but they add a 12.5% service charge when really all they did was take our order. So these eggs benedict were 18 pounds with the tip and it was not worth that price.

Terrible food at exorbitant prices, the meat of my steak sandwich was completely inedible and I would be embarrassed to serve something like that, let alone charge money for it. The meat of the burger was also inedible and the service is not friendly, the ambience is also more than questionable, absolutely no recommendation.

This was a disappointing breakfast. The food was not great. The coffee was fine, but that's the best thing we had. The service was okay. We'd had several good breakfasts at other places and this did not stack up by comparison.

Pleasant little eatery adjoining St Martin in the Fields. Good choice of Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine, especially the steak and avocado salad, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. Reasonably priced too considering its location.

Found this restaurant pre theatre, was not busy at time of visit. Service fine and reasonably efficient. Food average, portion sizes small. Burgers at approx £18 served without any accompaniment, chips and salad bought seperately. Grills served without bread and rice. Probably would not visit again, expensive for what it was.

The Breakfast-in-a-burger was absolutely grande in every sense. It was tasty, huge, and reasonably priced! The name is a bit deceiving, it should probably be called the breakfast-and-lunch-in-a-burger!

One thing for sure: the cleanliness is awesome! I went to their toilet and it was surprisingly clean and I can see they keep maintaining the cleanliness. I had my vegetarian breakfast and did not aware that the poast egg is optional, she did ask though beforehand which I overlooked. The server took some time to take our order, but it is understood that she is multitasking as she was the only one taking and serving orders. As mentioned by others, she was a bit rude previously. However, our time seems to be great and she was getting well to everyone and approachable. My food was OK and no complaint on this. Do note on the VAT charge around 12.5%

Great selection of food and drink, and delicious. Would have given the food 5, except they did forget the bacon on something on which it was included. Other than that, couldn’t fault it. Relaxing atmosphere and very attentive and welcoming staff. Will visit again if ever in the area and need food.

Having visited in the Autumn I took my family back whilst in town for the theatre. Immediately we were rushed to order. Within 20mins of sitting down ,following snatching plates ,they presented a bill for £100.85. Food ordered x 3 burger and chips Small bottle of soda Cup of tea. Not funny. Sorry.

Very slow indeed…I ordered a simple bacon sandwich and it still hasn’t arrived. Nearly twenty minutes. Possibly one star? Coffee is ok.

I almost never leave a negative review, but I would advise against this restaurant. We had a salmon filet with green beans and an order of fish and chips. The salmon was dry and the green beans seemed to be from a frozen bag. My husband declared the fish and chips the worst he'd ever had. The restaurant was right across from the theatre we were going to, so it seemed like a good choice, but you as a diner can do better and the restaurant should do better as well. Cote, just down the street, was packed with locals, and there's a pizza place in the other direction that looked good as well.

Excellent coffee, and very tasty pear crumble. Fresh double cream would elevate this dish rather than the squirty stuff. Service a bit slow to start but ladies serving me friendly and warm in their communication. I think I'd like a second serving of that crumble!

We paid the equivalent of €60 for two beers and two really unspecial burgers without any side dishes. Yes, London is expensive per se, we know that, but that's an underground line for the price. Never again.

Vastly overpriced. £9 for a cheap and nasty glass of wine. The vegetarian moussaka (£20) is just ratatouille - no potato, no bechamel sauce - 'That's because it's Lebanese,' the waitress said. I would say, on the plus side, it's clean - as we were eating, we were liberally sprayed with disinfectant as the waitress cleaned the table next to us.

Hot choco was mediocre and customer service is POOR. I was enjoying my hot choco but then this waitress (white, lean, about 5’4”) asked me to leave since they have “reservations” for dinner. It was 6 PM at that time. No sorry or anything. Didn’t even bother to say it nicely.

Staff very unfriendly. We were seated in a narrow corner, and when we asked if we could take our own other table, which was also free, we got a rude answer: no, only this one. The manner of the waitresses continued until the end. Others were sent away because only 2 of the 4 people wanted to eat. Food was rather mediocre. We had breakfast, the egg was okay, the rest was more of a finished product. Not recommended for the price.

Service was terrible; the waitress was rude and clearly disgruntled that she had to work. She was the only one taking orders and serving food across the entire restaurant which perhaps understandably was the reason for her attitude but that’s not the customers’ fault. The food was mediocre and basic. Coffee was burnt but watered down at the same time. Overall, not a good experience and wouldn’t go back or recommend.

I had a chicken paella. Way too pricey compared to the taste and quality of the food. Should’ve been cooked longer as it was too moist if you know what i mean. It was literally just tomato sauce on chicken. Lower your prices or increase the quality and taste of your meals. Plus, 5pounds for a bottle of coke is crazy. Waitresses were very nice and friendly

3 of us visited last night for the 1st time and we were not disappointed, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was amazing really good, the only reason I didn’t give a 5 * is because our cocktails were very poor, I believe it was because it was nearly closing time and the staff wanted the restaurant closed, the presentation was very poor, no fruit or trimmings on the cocktails which come as standard. But as I said everything else was beautiful, thank you!!

The worst meal and service I’ve ever experienced. We were really looking forward to a lovely evening out with a meal and theatre trip in London. The restaurant wasn’t busy so we thought we could get served quickly. We were ‘greeted’ by a surly waitress, whose only interaction was to take the order….and then get it wrong. The burger was the tiniest I’ve ever seen and contained three scraps of chicken which was overcooked and straw like in texture. One piece consisted mainly of a bone. The tables were so close together at the far end that it was difficult to get in and out. The manageress and another member of management were seated at the most accessible table in the restaurant, doing accounts. The manageress was more concerned with looking after her daughter than running the restaurant! The staff were very matter of fact in their manner and didn’t bother to check up on customers. The meal was over priced and almost inedible. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to go looking for an alternative venue, otherwise we would have left!!! A total disappointment to what should have been a great start to our evening out.

One of the worst places I've ever eaten in. Surly staff with no customer interaction other than to take your order, almost inedible food which I would have rejected if I'd had time to go elsewhere before the show started. Overpriced for what was in the plate, even for London. Cramped seating in a room with no atmosphere and management using a table in a prime position for admin.

A great small place close to Trafalgar Square with options to suit everyone, including a really good range of gluten free options. We had toasties and cakes, but they have grills and main dishes, all of which looked nice. The decor was welcoming and arty and service was super quick and friendly too!

Locale bellissimo, atmosfera rilassante e personale gentilissimo. Ci siamo state varie volte e stavolta con l'albero di Natale addobbato e la musica natalizia di sottofondo è meraviglioso.
