I paid £30 for a chicken shawarma plate and tabbouleh. The shawarma plate alone was £19. To be honest, I didn’t check the menu for prices or ask beforehand. The portion size was disappointing—it was barely enough to fill a standard sandwich. The chips were inedible, the shawarma was just okay, and the tabbouleh was awful. Safe to say, I’ll never go back.

My wife and I went to eat at Al Balad restaurant, and it was the worst experience. I do not recommend it at all. We ordered two plates of meat biryani. The order arrived. The smell of the meat was very rancid and the rice was doughy. When we spoke to the waiter, he was friendly, but I was told that he would inform the management. The price was very expensive for rancid meat, doughy rice, and not enough for the biryani. Basala is a very bad experience. We ate it a previous time. It was good and the rice was wonderful. The appetizers were very delicious. We ordered bad taouk instead of biryani. It is very harsh and I do not recommend it. The workers’ voice is as if you are in a popular market

With a lively ambience and chirpy crowd, Al-Balad gave us the best experience of Lebanese food in London. The menu hosts a plethora of Lebanese dishes and you get everything from starters to main courses with sumptuous quantity. The staff is super jovial and welcoming, always at your beck and call!

Excellent food and excellent service

I recently visited Al Baladi on Edward Road with my family after having dinner nearby. We were looking forward to enjoying some baklava and tea to end our evening. When we arrived, the gentleman at the entrance welcomed us warmly, gave us menus, and made us feel invited. However, things took a sudden turn when one of the managers inside, a short, bald man, approached us. To our surprise, he informed us that we couldn’t just order dessert because they only serve full meals. I explained that we had already eaten elsewhere and were simply looking to enjoy dessert, but he rudely told us to “go somewhere else.” There was no signage or mention of this rule anywhere, and his tone was dismissive and unprofessional. The experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome, especially since we’d been initially invited in. It was disappointing to be treated this way over something as simple as a dessert order. We expected more courtesy and understanding, especially in a family-friendly setting like Al Baladi.

A must try! You won't regret it!

Buen lugar para un café libanés y baklawa. El café era excelente y perfectamente endulzado. Baklawa era sabroso. La comida se veía bien. Sin duda volveré a probarlo.

Previously been to this restaurant and staff are always rude. Recently witness management being difficult with staff because they weren’t Arabic. They also told them to go else where because they did not want to serve them. If you’re not Arabic they will be very dismissive! AVOID

Probably the worst restaurant in central London. To start the shawarma was cold and flavourless, the chips were hard, I’m pretty sure they fried the chips multiple times to make it seem ‘fresh’. We found a hair in our food and the man serving didn’t even acknowledge us. It came up to £45. Which is a terrible price comparing the portions. The staff were unwelcoming and kept staring us and other people while we were there. Not to mention the seats were sticky. If you’re looking for a nice place to try authentic Lebanese food, I would avoid this place.

I love this restaurant We eat well and it’s delicious Each time I go to London I don't miss my tawuk wrap, my apple shisha and my tea. Always served by M’Hammad who welcomes me very well and remembers my culinary rituals even after a long absence. I feel good in this place which may not necessarily please everyone. Excellent and tasty food. Very quick service but busy and crowded in the evening.

Today my wife and I ate in this restaurant, but unfortunately the visit was absolutely not worth it. As soon as we entered the restaurant we noticed that the staff was in a very bad mood. There was an insect in my Ayran cup and when we pointed it out to the waiter, he didn't respond or replace the cup. The shawarma plate served was so small that it would not have been enough for even a small child. We also found a fly in the food, but decided not to say anything so as not to cause an argument. In the end we were forced to pay £4.4 for the service despite not being greeted or farewelled warmly. We can definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Simply Fantastic. We had breakfast there and even Shawarma was available in Breakfast. The juice, the shakshouka all was good. Humus was extremely fresh and also the Falafel were nice crispy from outside and fresh soft from inside. Simply amazing. The owners doing a great job will definitely come back. Mi esposo y yo ya habíamos comido con colegas de trabajo, y por eso solo queríamos llevar a nuestros hijos a cenar ya que tenían hambre. Pedimos la parrilla mixta Al Balad y alitas a la parrilla por aproximadamente £ 30 y el camarero estaba siendo muy grosero desde el principio y ni siquiera haciendo contacto visual, luego siguió diciendo que esto es para una persona, así que le dijimos que está bien solo los niños tienen hambre y comer. Entonces continuó diciendo: ¿Estás seguro de tener la parrilla mixta para dos personas que era de 65 libras? No hay problema para pagar, pero ni siquiera teníamos hambre! Luego fui a lavarme las manos y volví y le había dicho a mi esposo que eran 15 libras por cabeza. Así que nos fuimos. Lo inventó en el acto. ¡Qué grosero desconsiderado era! No hay preocupación o empatía por una familia con niños pequeños en un día muy caluroso donde habíamos caminado más de 10.000 pasos, incluidos los niños que tenían hambre! ¡No vayas a este lugar!

**Terrible Experience—Avoid This Restaurant!** We've visited this restaurant twice, and both times were awful. The staff constantly hovers around your table, counting your bites, and making you feel rushed and uncomfortable. They seem more interested in getting you out the door than letting you enjoy your meal. I don't even want to ask the management why they charge so much when they can't even let customers eat in peace without being stared at. I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing dining experience. This place needs to stop this ridiculous behavior immediately.

Real Lebanese food, good quality and delicious at a good location.

The people are nice and the falafel was decent but the chicken shawarma was overpriced, dry and bad. There are better places in the area to have lebanese food. Also the toilets are comparable to those of a gas station.

My wallet made its way to one of your Al Balad restaurants today after it was stolen from me. I can't tell which one since you have multiple locations on the same word. How it ended up at either of your restaurants to which I have never been, I will never know. Several charges were made on my credit cards for a total of $30,000.00. They have all been disputed and the cards have been cancelled. However, the wallet does have sentimental value for me and I'm sorry that I won't see it again. I hope that whomever uses it next uses it in good health. Inshallah.

A Lebanese restaurant... We ordered a delivery service. The food is delicious, grape leaves, Beirut hummus, tabbouleh, and even shawarma. They have different dishes. We always order from them... One of the best Lebanese restaurants in London…

*Special treatment for Arabs/ Lebanese* Racist* no Sunnah smiles either. I went there with my family, not my 1st choice and regret it (Saturday 28 July 9pm). Was refused a shish taouk sandwich wrap, as it was for takeaway only apparently. So I decided not to order but the children did. A man walked in 5 mins later spoke to them in Arabic and surprise surprise he got what he requested .. a wrap! When we queried this the arrogant male waiter instead asked another fella to respond - “wraps only after 9pm”…. That’s the time we had walked in… so I just ended up giving my custom to Shishawi as I always do- there you can’t go wrong, shishawi has great staff, great food and atmosphere. They’re not racist either like in Al- Balad.

Never put garlic or chilli sauce as requested for take away! Very poor service and service charge and prices do not go here

Popped in by chance and was very happy I did. The food was top notch and the service warm and inviting. Well worth a visit if you're on the hunt for premium Lebanese food in a comfortable atmosphere. Should have taken the photo before eating but excitedly tucked in before thinking about it. That's how good the food is!

Staff looked at me and my friend with disgust. Was ignored twice when asking for a question. Staff was very unfriendly, the lady staff did a little smile and then went to a face of disgust. Food was really dry and the atmosphere was not welcoming. I will not be recommending anyone to some here EVER. Don’t waste your money on dry food that will make you want to cough and drink. Food was way too expensive for what was given ( small portion of food).

This has to be the worst restaurant I’ve been to. I’ve asked for shawarma wrap they gave me a small mix grill. And set my family up in a tiny space, where the appetisers took all the space.I was asking for napkins the waitress were being very ignorant instead of focusing their job. They charged extra £25 for service. In total the bill was £162. I would never even look at this place

Elegimos cenar en su establecimiento esperando una experiencia agradable, pero desafortunadamente, el comportamiento de su personal fue muy irrespetuoso. A nuestra llegada, tomamos una mesa y esperamos a que nuestros amigos se unieran a nosotros. No habíamos estado sentados ni siquiera quince minutos cuando un miembro del personal se acercó a nosotros e insistió en que hiciéramos un pedido inmediatamente. Les explicamos que estábamos esperando a nuestros amigos que se retrasaron debido al tráfico pesado, y que pediríamos una vez que llegaran. El funcionario respondió sarcásticamente, preguntándole si queríamos que trajera a nuestros amigos de sus casas. Este comentario no sólo fue innecesario, sino también una falta de respeto. Creo que es egipcio. Para nuestra consternación, el funcionario procedió entonces a discutir nuestra situación con sus colegas de manera burlona, lo que claramente pudimos escuchar. Esto se sumó a nuestra incomodidad y decepción. Poco después, otro miembro del personal Un tipo alto no recuerdo su acento pero se acercó a nosotros y nos dijo que esperáramos a nuestros amigos fuera del restaurante, nos expulsaron del local. Esta fue una experiencia increíblemente humillante, y fue la primera vez que he sido expulsado de cualquier establecimiento. La conducta poco profesional de su personal nos dejó sintiéndonos desagradables e irrespetuosos en un día que debería haber sido alegre. Elegimos su restaurante por su reputada calidad y hospitalidad, pero el servicio que recibimos estaba muy por debajo de los estándares aceptables. The restaurant is very delicious and is always a visitor when we come to London. We love shawarma, hummus and fattoush, and the employee (Rajaa) has been there for a while. Her smile, her treatment, her high morals and her quick service have been there for a while. I recommend it.
