Booked for dinner but on arrival, they thought we had booked for buffet, fortunately they had a table for us within a short time so we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar, which is fabulous and then went for a lovely meal in the Bistro, it is a small and intimate restaurant and quite modern and food is served on hot rocks, which you cook yourself to your own taste. Nice concept and food was really lovely BUT find that it gets pretty smoky when it is very busy. This is not a unique concept to us and it was a very nice change. Service was attentive and good and wine selection is great. Little pub at the Langport Arms is friendly and wonderful for pre or post drinks too.

I visited The Langport Arms on the 20th September, in a party of six, we booked the 'La Roche' Restaurant, the food was superb and wonderfully presented, the staff and owners were brilliant they made our night special. I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I have ever had and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent black Rock steak. Good, quick service and friendly waiting staff. The bistro is small and was full on a Thursday night, so would definitely recommend advance booking. The only downside was a limited dessert selection (choice of 3) and felt like we were holding up the staff waiting to leave by 10pm. Would definitely revisit.

An intimate dining experience perfect for that special occasion or just to be good to yourself. We booked in advance expecting it to be busy for 7.30pm however there was only one other table occupied. Don't get the wrong idea i just don't think its quite made it onto the map yet but i assure you it will. The waiting staff were attentive, informative and very friendly. So onto the food. A really nice menu with a varied choice of starters. There were four of us dining all having ordered different starters and i would have been content with any of the fare brought to the table. The main event was a choice of mainly meats or fish cooked on a hot rock which although might sount a bit DIY it really enhances the dining experience. The steaks were first class and my wife had the scallops which she thoroughly enjoyed. The other bonus for this restaurant was that it accepts the taste card even on Saturday so we got a whopping 50% off our bill (excluding drinks). To be honest i would have been more than happy to pay full price for this meal which would have been just over £100 for four so excellent value as well. I will definately be returning to this venue and now the secrets out of the bag you should give it a try also. 5 stars!!!!

La Roche serves a variety of main meal choices cooked on a hot rock yourself. The atmosphere is very intimate and the service (tonight by Ed) very attentive but not intrusive. The main meals were too large for us but our appetites are less these days and it is not a criticism. For a different eating experience La Roche is a good choice.

This is the best steak I have ever tasted. I'm not usually a lover of steak but this is worth coming back for again and again cooked to your own personal preference. The decor is nice and completely different from the joining Langport Arms Hotel.

The quality of the food and the service is amazing. Cosy room that just adds to the ambience Our only regret is that we didn't have room for pudding owing to the abundance of food given with the main!! - because the puddings sounded as amazing as the two courses we did have Will definitely be back :-)

We have dined at La Roche several times and have never been dissappointed! Most recently a group of 7 of us ate here for a birthday celebration, 5 of the group being 'first timers'. The food was amazing, jalapeño cream cheese poppers to start and rump steak for main. The quality and size of the steak is fantastic and such a great novelty to cook your own on the rock. The service was second to none and all food/drinks were served promptly despite the restaurant being fairly busy. I like that the restaurant is tucked away behind the hotel as it feels more exclusive. The interior is classy with nice French misuse playing in the music and feels very intimate. The 'newbies' in our group were also very impressed with the food and service and can't wait to come back again soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed a family evening out on my birthday (fourth visit) - we were the only people in the restaurant. You need to ring after 7pm to book which was no problem. The waiter couldn't have been more helpful, the food and wine was lovely and not overly expensive. I would recommend it for a night out with a difference (steak on the rock).

Terrible Service, service and serviceOh and they messed up the orders and blamed us the customers!I would never in my life recommend this place to our worst enemies. Had been here a few times before the dreaded last visit for my fathers birthday in June 2013. I cant even describe what went wrong as you would not believe it but would just say that the owners - who happen to be the bar manager and the chef were very rude and unconcerned with what I can only describe as a disastrous customer service experience.I travel the world with my business and have had the pleasure of dining in some fantastic places as well as some less than fantastic but can honestly say this has to be the worse.

The food was far short of brilliant. Everyone eating on the same evening were using reduced priced vouchers from a local newspaper. The booking process was dreadful as the phone was simply unanswered. Eventually contact was made by email, but this served only to reveal that the bistro was not open on the nights advertised. The food has echoes of 1970's with 'broth' being anything but a broth, more like Oxtail Soup, The Brie and Mango tart was sad and tasteless, the crab cakes tasted dull and from frozen stock. The decor echoed the 1970's theme being black and white and with a fish tank. When you arrive it is akin to going into someone's garage, I have no idea what this building was before but it was certainly not any public area of the hotel and it is difficult to understand why it is there. The saviours are the staff. The two chaps working were fantastic and deserve an award. They even managed to try to distract us when the Manager decided to rearrange all the furniture in preparation for next day, whilst we were still finishing. It is difficult to believe that this establishment will thrive in these difficult days, as there will have to be massive improvements

What a delightful place to stay at. We stayed for a couple of nights to visit the surrounding area and had the friendliest welcome and comfortable stay. James, the waiter in the evening, was a credit to them. He helped you choose what to eat and was attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding, especially the fish dishes. The breakfast was the best we have ever had and was cooked to order with local produce. Cannot wait to return.

Holm comes highly recommended for its food. I would not demur but was surprised at, and not necessarily enamoured of, some of its "idiosynchracies." Our reservation was for two. On arrival we were shown to our table where menus had been placed next to the cutlery and napkins. Having studied the menu we realised that it was the chefs taster menu - approximately 8 courses for a fixed price of £69.00 per person. I am not quibbling about the price but about the fact that when we asked for an a la carte menu we were met with surprise and received the distinct impression that it wasn't favoured or expected. We hadn't requested the chefs menu when booking. Equally, neither the a la carte or chefs menu indicated gluten free or vegetarian options. Surprising as today every restaurant seems to include that information and surprising too given Holm's reputation for food. I had also indicated when booking that gluten free options would be helpful. I was helped in my choice of food ( gf because of coeliac disease) but it seems a strange oversight especially in a geographic area where there are many other very well reviewed restaurants which do provide this information. Surprising too were the deliberations required to accomodate a request that a "starter" become a main course. All dealt with eventually but seemingly not part of the plan as far as the restaurant was concerned. I am obviously a restaurant dinosaur. I like restaurants where the menu is the starting point for a discussion about the food and accomodations (within reason) are suggested and offered. Holm I feel is London performative and this approach is not in its DNA. Having said all this I will say that the food we ate was delicious. I live locally and have found that some of my remarks have resonated with my neighbours. Perhaps we are just not sophisticated enough.
