ottimo posto dove gustare un buon gelato (detto da italiana). oltre al fatto che il gelato è buono, è buono anche il rapporto qualità/prezzo e soprattutto quantità/prezzo, perché è vero si paga più che in italia (5£ per 2 gusti) ma la quantità di gelato che ti danno è molto alta, mi ha decisamente saziato. molto meglio questa gelateria che “gelato gusto” sempre a brighton, dove il gelato costa di più, è meno buono e te ne danno di meno. super consigliata

Ci siamo imbattuti casualmente in questa gelateria ed è stata una bellissima sorpresa. Abbiamo incontrato il titolare, gentilissimo e molto gentile. Abbiamo mangiato una cassata e un cannolo siciliano, entrambi di ottima qualità. Dovremo tornare ad assaggiare il gelato!! Consigliatissimo.

This was one of the best Gelatos I have ever tasted. I had the strawberry in a waffle cone. I highly recommend visiting this place. Very nice owner and great service. Delicious desserts, quick service, atmosphere looked good too, although we didn’t stop. So nice we ended up going back the following night!

This was a pre-paid gift which was sold as an Italian afternoon tea with bottomless sparkling wine for 90 minutes. The bubbly definitely was not free flowing, The selection of sweet treats was acceptable however the ‘bottomless’ Prosecco definitely was not. We were offered a glass on arrival and a second was offered when our glass was empty. We received a 3rd glass about halfway into our 90 minutes experience. Nothing else offered, no eye contact, the server was more interested in her delivery of supplies, chatting in a back room and serving the occasional customer some ice cream. I have attended numerous‘bottomless’ Prosecco experiences and this definitely was not bottomless. My suggestion is you do not sell this as ‘bottomless’ if you do not intend to top up the glasses within the timeframe. Absolutely not what I expected. We left here very deflated.

We came here for some ice-cream, there was a fairly limited choice and no sign of their award winning pistachio. A mixture of ice-cream and sorbets, and happy to give small samples to help you decide, we chose mango sorbet, citrus cream and masala and raisin. The mango sorbet was the best, really intensely flavoured, the citrus cream was disappointing as it had a slightly artificial taste to it, the masala and raisin had a nice flavour, like rum and raisin, but no discernible raisins in it and to make my tub up there was a lot of scraping the remains up from the main pot, which put me off a bit, I would have preferred if she had opened a fresh pot. The had no plain cones so we had small tubs instead at £2.70 each, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again, but if passing I would pop in to try their pistachio ice-cream if it was available.

Siamo capitati per caso dopo una passeggiata al mare e siamo rimasti sorpresi dalla bontà del gelato! Non mangiavo un gelato così buono da molto. La qualità si vede già solo dal colore del pistacchio e il sorbetto al limone sa di limone fresco e non di finto come molte gelateria. Anche il sapore del cono era molto buono! Spero aprano anche a Londra.

We have been trying out the App ‘Too Good to Go’, designed to reduce food waste by notifying local people of shops or cafes who want to sell food that would otherwise be wasted at a reduced price. Tempted by the offer of Italian bread, cakes and pastries, we bought two ‘Magic Bags’ for £5 from La Mucca Nera and arrived to pick them up at closing time. On the app it stated that the two bags would have contents worth £15. They offered me a small paper bag containing one croissant and a cheapo 20g bag of out-of-date Happy Shopper salt & vinegar crisps! I pointed out that I had paid £5 for two bags so the guy took away the croissant and instead gave me four small pieces of Rocky Road, saying ‘there you are, that would cost you £5’. I left, disappointed but hoping my children would enjoy the cakes. They bit into them eagerly then spat them out! They were really, really stale - absolutely horrible. They must have been days old. I have added photos of the offering, I realise we were hoping to get a bargain, but we were expecting fresh cakes that just couldn’t be used the next day. That’s the point of the App. The out of date Happy Shopper crisps added insult!

My parents had a table booked for months and they were looking forward to going. They travelled from the middle of Kent just to go here only for them to arrive and see a sign on the door that says "closed for staff training"! No one had informed them that it was closed and the cafe staff knew they had bookings so it is an absolute outrage that they did this. Massively disappointing and a huge inconvenience as a lot of money was spent to travel to Brighton. Train fares, car parking fares and a hotel were all paid for just for this trip.

Came with a friend for a coffee , I had a Mocha and a Tiramisu, both delicious, great service and very good value.

The most amazing cafe to sit down and watch the day go by, whilst sipping from soothing cappuccinos all the way down to the finest flat white! The gelato is by far the best I have ever tasted and the Sicilian pistachio cannoli is absolutely to die for! Best I’ve ever had :) My favourite place in town and the best service from everyone at the front ! 💫💫 Will always come back to indulge in delicious desserts ♥️

Sono stata alla Mucca Nera questa sera per aperitivo, ho preso un Aperol Spritz e devo dire che era veramente molto buono, servito anche con olive e patatine per un giusto prezzo, locale molto carino e accogliente, personale cortese e un'ampia scelta di buonissimi gelati fatti da loro, per non parlare dei dolci che non ho assaggiato ma ci sarà sicuramente occasione, bravi tutti!! Si respira aria di casa, fate un salto e non rimarrete delusi!!

Delicious Italian cakes and icecreams. Good size of icecream scoops. Would like the cakes to be bigger, because they were good. Friendly staff. We went twice the same day:) Wanted a dessert in the evening, and was glad to see that La Mucca Nera was open when others were closed.

I spent the most relaxing couple of hours sitting in the sun outside this little cafe having coffee with friends. My first drink, hot chocolate was the richest and tastiest hot chocolate ive ever had. Im still dreaming about it. My cake was apple strudel which was also outstanding. The service was really friendly, we were made to feel very welome. I wish I could have stayed longer to try the gelato. I would totally recommend this place and if i lived closer I would be a regular for sure.

Don’t have ice cream on the pier, walk 5 minutes straight up the hill to find this cafe where they make their own ice cream on site, even pistachio! Sit and enjoy there with drink, cake or coffee, or walk down to the pavilion and sit on the grass and marvel at the building! Best ice cream in southern England!

I have visited on many occasions. My favourites are the pistachio ice cream and the cannoli. Not really much more to say best ice cream and great cakes & pastries. Nowhere better in Brighton.

English guys, here you can taste a real Italian icecream. Guaranteed from an Italian in Brighton for Easter holidays. If you like it, they serve also espresso "ristretto" as we are used to have.

There are few finer ways than to spend a Sunday afternoon sat on one of the outside tables, watching the world go by, drinking the great coffee, and feasting on the fine Italian pastries, with the Cannoli Scilliano to absolutley die for! Lovely staff too, highly recommend!

I came here on a rare but gorgeous sunny day. I was looking forward to trying the place as the time my partner and I were living in Brighton and it always seems full. We both ordered an ice cream each (I got pistachio, yum) and an iced coffee. The coffee was served with no ice and wasn't particularly cold.. so my partner went back inside were the lady serving him said she was just about to go on her break and could not help. I understand that iced coffees aren't really popular in Italy but was hoping that as a coffee shop they would know how to make one. If not I would at least expect for someone to try and fix the problem without making a big deal out of it.

Second visit to this small café on St. James St. Kemp Town. The coffee is great and there is an overwhelming range of Italian pastries and cakes. We haven't got round to the ice cream yet.

I'm Italian and very demanding about the quality of the ice cream. This is absolutely fabulous! We had pistachios ice with the real taste of nuts and malaga (rum and racines) that is difficult to find in most of Italian ice-cream shops. The cone was fresh and crunchy. An amazing experience... Was tented to try an Illy coffee with cannoli, babà, tiramisù end all the pastry they offer. So happy to have found this place, hope to come back soon!!

As someone who frequently travels to sicily I love this cafe! It just feels so Italian, from the way the staff greet you, to the buzzing Italian atmosphere inside. What I love about this cafe is the fact it doesn't try to be something it's not. The gelato here is also delicious and you can expect them to fill up your cup as much as humanly possible. If you're after a nice chill place to relax, have an authentic Italian dessert or a pint of peroni from the tap then this is the place for YOU!

I don't normally go into Kemptown but I was staying in a hotel nearby and came across this place when looking for tea and cake. Lovely friendly staff and the canoli was so good, I went back the next day to take some home for my family. I will be back.

Visited here a week ago for some if the best salted caramel gelato as it was such a hot day. Cooled me right down on my way home. I have visited a few times and have always found the gelato to be delicious and the staff super friendly and welcoming. The salted caramel is definitely my favirout but I have yet to try a flavour I do not like, they are all fabulous! I have also been here for afternoon tea with my partner a few months ago and it was great, we had such a good time and really enjoyed everything we were given. One of my favourite places to go in Brighton :)

Fabulous authentic Italian gelati. Transported to an Italian gelateria by the delicious homemade flavours and handsome Italian owner/ creator. Highly recommended. Our favourite flavours were walnut ice cream and coconut sorbet. The pecan pie was superb too.

My good friend recommended to try this place and I'm so glad I did! The only difficulty was to chose what I wanted because everything looked really delicious! So if you fancy something amazing, this place is a must to visit when in Brighton! Delicious, fresh and not too expensive or overcrowded with tourists. Loved it!

Excuse me Brighton, please ditch Sprinkles, Belgian Walfflemeiser & JoJos and precede immediately to this establishment. I haven’t tasted gelato like it anywhere in UK/ Canada. Genuinely friendly hosts and a joy to sit down and savour. I shall be returning hastily!

What a find! It's perfect! Visited yesterday for afternoon tea and the whole experience was so, so good. The owner was really welcoming and explained all about his business and how it came to be called La Mucca Nera - The Black Cow, in English. The cakes were amazing and so tasty, especially the lemon pie and the tiramsu. The coffee was so delicious, the decor great and I can't wait to go back with my granddaughters to try the icecream!

We came down from London for a day of shopping with our new baby and visiting mother in law. We treated ourselves to delicious ice-cream. Chocolate a classic favourite of mine definitely hit the spot. Compared with London prices also the high quality ice cream was surprisingly reasonably priced and we were prepared to pay a lot more. Next time in Brighton I'd love to go back and taste the tiramisu and other tasty looking deserts.

Popped in here the other day while passing through. Saw the place which looked really inviting so my wife and I decided to sit down outside and have an ice cream. The hazelnut ice cream was the most delicious assault on one pleasure senses all we could say was mmmmmmmmmm! The guy who runs it is really nice and explained that he made all his own ice cream underneath the gelateria. Honestly, make a special effort and go try his ice cream, you won't be disappointed. We were in Umbria last week and were missing our outings for coffee and cake so dropped in here- it was like we were back in Italy..the food and coffee were amazing- very tasty, the ice cream looked just like what we were eating a week before and the service was great- very friendly,

We have just enjoyed a excellent afternoon tea at la Mecca nera everything was traditional Italian fair the service was second to none and nothing was too much trouble it is very rare to find a place that is so welcoming this is somewhere where we will definitely be going back give it a try you will not be disappointed.

We booked with groupon and loved the little cafe tucked away in Brighton. The cakes and pastries are all freshly made and the ice cream is out of this world. The owner is friendly and inviting and he didn't make us feel bad when my husband clumsily spilt his coffee all over the floor. An absolute gem in Brighton. Highly recommended. The owner makes it that more special too.

Well I called today to book a cream tea that I have already paid for with Groupon and was told that the manager has said he is not doing Groupon anymore. I explained that I have paid for it and it is still valid until the 16th September. I was told "Get a refund"! I said I didn't want the hassle of getting a refund and would rather just have the cream tea that I have paid for but was told simply "NO". I have looked at the reviews and I have seen a reply to one from the owner of La Mucca Nera and he says this deal is not valid for weekends.......so why can I not book for Friday? or is it now not valid Friday or weekends?

Two of us went for the Italian tea as I had a groupon voucher for my birthday. The owner was very attentive and chatty. Loved the decor with wood topped milk churns as tables. The tiramisu and cheesecake were absolutely gorgeous. It made a change from a traditional afternoon tea. Would definitely recommend.

We bought Groupon for 4 person afternoon tea. And booked through their system. When we arrived there, there isn't air-con inside and it was really hot that day. The waitress glide at us and didn't smile or say hi, we were greeted by another waiter finally. He checked system said we are not on the system. But we are booked and received confirmation email for 1:30pm. So I asked can we still have it? Even to pay a little extra, because we came all the way with parents (over 60 yrs old),1 toddler, 1 baby. We made effort park and walk here. Answer is no, we cannot have afternoon tea even we pay extra. Why?? Is it not a cafe??? Waiter keep telling us it is not my fault, it is your fault. How it is our fault that we can book and receive email and you don't have it on your system. Not caring attitude and not helpful, no sympathy with little kids and oddly. And the dessert doesn't looks good, it looks quite greasy, especially chocolate one,dull look. Sorry, will not go back again.

We had something that looked like cannoncini but instead of cream filling, it had a marmalade sorts filling. It wasn't good in taste.

Just brilliant. Delicious home made gelato, excellent coffee, friendly smiling Italian owner, clean and welcoming cafe. Just brilliant.

We walked past and popped in. The friendly staff said they did the best Aperol Spritz in town and we were not disappointed. Authentic Italian Aperol Spritz was absolutely the best one I've had.

I visited La Mucca Nera after I had checked out of my hotel and found the manager to be very pleasant, the establishment very clean and loved the outside seating atmosphere. It was like being in Italy. My friend and I had a wonderfully made coffee and very fresh croissant, before bidding farewell.
