my favourite eatery in Sheffield, the atmosphere is cool and friendly and the food ranges from good to superb - if you go, have the pork ribs, your life will be better

Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly service. I opted for veggie options - the mushrooms were divine! My husband chose meat and he was equally impressed. We were full but treated ourselves to home made dessert and they didn’t disappoint. It was our first time here and I can’t wait to return!

Absolutely 5* I can't believe we've not been here. 15 years old this year. Such good food. Tapas to die for. Flavours and combinations of amazing ingredients that surprised and delighted us. I love limes! The best pork belly ribs I've ever had. Due in large part to chef's stunning homemade barbecue sauce. Ask him how he made it! Be sure to have their green beans (perotos verdes). Soooo good. Waiter & chef available to guide whilst exuding passion and warmth for their food and guests.

Had a lovely dinner here with a friend. Everything was pretty much perfect - pleasant decor, very friendly and unpretentious service, and excellent food. We had cocktails, beer, and four tapas we shared and that was plenty for us. Would have loved to try dessert but were both full. Excellent option for a stylish but relaxed night out.

This is a lovely restaurant. Excellent and interesting South American Tapas Everything was tasty, and well prepared. Delicious Crema Catalana Lovely fun and and friendly atmosphere. Everyone who served us were warm, and open to talk, and explain the dishes.

This is a lovely little restaurant with a very personal vibe. Tapas were very nice in all but a little on the large side compared to other restaurants in have visited before. The pork belly was beautiful and the spicy chicken wings were lovely also. Roughly £10 per tapas which is a bit on the high side for me. Meal for 4 with wine (2/3 tapas each) was £154

First visit and had a great experience. Service was superb from everyone and the food amazing. Will be back again soon.

5 of us went to la mamas for a birthday celebration. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. We split the bill and included a reasonable tip, as the service was at best average. I was the last one to pay and should have been charged £40… On checking my credit card bill a few days later I discovered I had been charged £90 instead of £40, I immediately contacted La mamas with a friendly email, as obviously there was an error, which could easily have been rectified amicably with a simple refund of the £50 (overcharge)… BUT NO… I would supply the email reply here but am prohibited by Trip advisor rules. To summarise the response; The owner states the £50 was classed as a tip and would not be refunding!! Well my question is do you think the waiting staff received the alleged tip because I dont, as I didnt see anyone doing cartwheels! Additionally Im sure that the owner will respond with some nasty remarks, but no contrition, as she has already tried to name and shame me, but I stand by every word.

Classic tapas. Cosy little restaurant. Good value. Lovely staff. Good selection of wines. Would definitely go back soon.

Such a lovely restaurant. Staff were super attentive and friendly. As for the food, we couldn’t get enough! The empanadas de queso were beautiful as were the porotos verdes. I’ve been recommended this place by many friends and I can see why everyone views this restaurant so highly. Great value for money as well! We will definitely be returning, thank you

WARNING OVERCHARGED - AVOID 5 of us went to La Mamas for a birthday celebration. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Here at La Mama, we don't include a service charge which is stated at the bottom of every bill. This means any overpay is classed as a tip unless stated otherwise In addition, we also always offer a copy of each payment to all customers and after speaking to the waitress on shift that evening, she can confirm this was stated to your table also. This means your 'overpayment' of £50 was obviously classed as a tip, especially as you didn't specify otherwise on the evening or even within the following few days (your table was on the 31/1/24 and you only voiced your concern on the 12/2/24)”. My friend recommended La Mama and so we decided to try it out; I have to say it was fantastic. In our group of 3, one was vegan and I'm gluten free. There was plenty of choice and the service was great; all the dishes tasted amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. Pricing was very reasonable and I'm not going to lie...best green beans I've had in my life! Will definitely go back and kicking myself we haven't come sooner (been living in the area for almost 2 years) The bill for 3 people; plenty of food; one Cocktail each and dessert was £115 including tip; very good value.

Amazing restaurant! The food was fantastic and the staff were extremely informative and provided some great suggestions on food and wines. Would definitely recommend. The pumpkin bread and cheese empanadas were exceptional!

Had a really lovely evening. Food and atmosphere were great. It is tight seating at times, there was only 2 of us and we did feel a bit in the way, having to budge in for people to get past. The food was really tasty though 😋

La Mama is WITHOUT doubt one of the best restaurants in Sheffield. If you want authentic food, full of flavour and a lovely atmosphere, then look no further. Speechless with the dishes and the vegetarian selection. I can’t recommend it enough!

Lovely little tapas restaurant. 5 of us went and had 11 dishes, which were all delicious (especially the ribs and meatballs), and it was easily enough to fill us all up. Would definitely recommend.

A very different night out but unfortunately it didn't quite meet our expectations. Food ok but quite expensive for what is was. When the best meals on the table were the uncooked ones it tells you alot. Shame really as this restaurant has a great niche and opportunity, hoping this helps the restaurant 👍

vegan 🌱 options clearly marked on the menu. Daniele the owner was lovely and really looked after us and explained all the dishes. Myself and @thesheffieldvegan shared some dishes: Sopaipillas al Pebre - fried pumpkin 🎃 bread 🍞 with a delicious garlicy 🧄 tomatoey 🍅 salsa dip. One of my favourite dishes a bit like nachos with the crunchy texture. Champignons rellenos They kindly adapted the mushrooms 🍄 to be veganised 🌱 with advanced notice 😁 they were delicious and a generous portion too! These days vegan cheese 🌱 🧀 is easily available, so if they did want to introduce a vegan/dairy free option to their menus it would be fab and definitely encourage more vegans & dairy free patrons to dine here. Albóndigas Veganas - vegan meatballs it was really nice to have these seitan & soy meatballs as a protein option with yummy basil oil on top a great texture and plenty of sauce. 😋 Porotos Verdes - fried green beans They were delicious, well flavoured with smoked paprika, oilve oil and pine nuts but a little too salty for my tastebuds but others may find it ok. Arroz - rice The meatballs in sauce went well with the rice, it was quite limey alone though. Papas Bravas - fried potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce. They were delicious well cooked potatoes and crunchy. With a tangy spicy tomatoey sauce. Which we got on the side as I can’t really have much spicy food 🥵 Desserts- Churros were not vegan sadly, but they did have a lovely Mango 🥭 sorbet with homemade berry coulis or chocolate & caramel cheesecake type tart which was delicious! The alcohol-free aperol spritz and coffee with oat milk were gorgeous and really great tasting coffee too. 🤤 My submarino was a nice strong but milky coffee with grated chocolate on the bottom to stir. Scratch made food by chefs and lovely cosy romantic atmosphere vegan 🌱 dishes are priced at £6-8. We ordered 6 between 2 and there was plenty with a few leftovers too! Our waitress Amily was lovely. Such a fun place to eat! Great food, lovely staff and quick service. Particularly recommended for vegetarians or coeliacs/those who are gluten free. There’s lots of choice and the staff are very on the ball about allergens.

Amazing restaurant! A lovely atmosphere with an incredible menu, highly recommend.

Extremely expensive. All dishes £9.50-10+. Drinks all over £8. 5 King prawns for £9.50 4 chicken wings for £9.50 G&T - £8. For small tapas dishes these shouldn't be anymore than £6 a dish!. Food was OK but nothing special for extortionate prices. Won't be going back.

Lively venue. Really good tapas and a decent portion size. Three each is more than enough. Reasonable drinks prices and nice cocktails.

Has to be in the top 3 meals I’ve ever had- the flavours are amazing and the food melts in your mouth. The restaurant was full on Saturday night and the staff were still really attentive and made sure we had an amazing time. Thank you so much!

First time to this restaurant. 7pm Saturday booking, and place was almost full already. A good sign. Definitely book on the weekend as we saw people turned away without one. The food was very good. Everything on the menu looked good and we tried 6 dishes between 2 of us, which was about right. Highlight for me was the bbq pork ribs and chilli prawns. All in, with two glasses of fizz and large glass of Malbec between us the pricing was very reasonable. We will be back to try more of the delicious dishes.

Excellent meal in a lovely Spanish feeling setting. Been to andalusia a lot and the food in this restaurant seems pretty authentic. Gluten Free items clearly marked on Menu. Highly recommended.

Great cosy little restaurant with a super relaxed vibe. Me and my partner came for a meal and both said it is without doubt the best food we’ve had in Sheffield. The quality, service, speed and taste were all incredible. Can’t wait to come back! Really recommend the goats cheese mushrooms and green beans!

Estaban!! - our main waiter - MADE this experience wonderful. He was very attentive, really lovely and super approachable. I really enjoyed the green beans and potatoes and my bestie enjoyed the whitebait and calamari. All the dishes were definitely big enough for two people to split! The bill doesn't come with service added, but we were more than happy to add! I definitely recommend booking as you wouldn't have got a table on the weekend without doing so. It's a popular restaurant for a reason. Enjoy x

Our favourite cosy, local restaurant. Passionate, attentive staff who are happy to make recommendations. Lovely laid back atmosphere. As with all tapas restaurants, they advise that food arrives when ready, in our experience food is very prompt and you're never left waiting long for a dish. Would recommend La Mama's Costillas de Cerdo and the Empanadas de Queso

This is one of those places i've driven past 100s of times and thought, "i want to go there!" but never actually got round to it. And now having finally been, i'm kicking myself for depriving myself of such delicious food for so long! A really cute and cozy venue, its only quite small and gives off a real latin ambiance. The staff there are welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, which is always a plus. The food itself was absolutely delicious - our favourite dishes were the vegetarian empanades de queso, which are simply empanades filled to the seams with cheese - divine! and the habas con chorizo, which came served with broad beans in a wine and mint dressing, which again was just stunning. We didn't have any alcohol with our meal but we had 6 tapas dishes, 2 desserts and 2 soft drinks and it came to around £65. Would highly recommend for a couples dinner or even just a mate date. Really good and can't wait to return.

Early evening outing staff very accommodating and friendly about finding us a table. Informed discussion of allergies and changes to accommodate. The 'fusion' of Latino and Spanish produced some variations. Sadly the core components of dishes were served in very intense relishes / herb/ spices. Fish in Lime (fish cooks in lime) was far too tart and over cooked. Whitebait hard to taste against the amount of garlic. Desert course easily the best. Would not go back

The staff were exceptionally friendly! They kept checking on us to see if everything was alright and the restaurant is beautifully decorated! The food was delicious! I don't know the last time I enjoyed my food that much! It was so tasty, I was stuffed at the end of our meal. Overall, it was brilliant and I totally recommend this lovely restaurant!

It’s nice to support local family run businesses. The food had the potential to be great. I think we choose the wrong dishes though. The ribs were outstanding. The green beans 😋. Server recommended the dishes which is always a gamble, but all in all. I would try again.

We booked for five when we arrived there was only a very small table for four and my son had to sit at the end of the table in the aisle with people bumping into him. The music was so loud that even though the table was so small we couldn't hear each other speak. My son was treating me for my birthday and I had driven from Norfolk for the occasion. So we were all very disappointed

FABULOUS night out with my other half. The ceviches and the padrón peppers were PERFECT. The cheese empanadas were CLOSE to perfection too we just thought they could be a little more well done on the outside, but it was full of cheese and just super close to perfection too. Can't wait to go back😋

Saturday night meal with friends! Amazing! Myself, my husband and our friends went for a Saturday night meal. The food was amazing, the drinks and service were amazing. No complaints from us 🙏😊

On the way home from work we decided to pop in for a meal and chose La Mama. We had never visited before and so had not booked. It was a Wednesday night and early and so we thought that we had a chance of getting a table. We were greeted with a big smile when we walked in and asked if we had booked. As we had not they checked and we were seated. My husband is Spanish and so we are not a stranger to tapas, but have been disappointed with most restaurants in Sheffield in the past so I wasn't holding out much hope. The menu had great instruction about how much to order but we like a big portion and so we thought that we would need to order more. The prices were middle of the road as I have paid more and less for meals. When the food came, very quickly, it was well presented, great portions and smelt fabulous. The taste of all of the dishes did not disappoint. After finishing every morsel the food was worth every penny. A great night out that I would happily recommend and repeat regularly. I do not tip unless the whole experience is good. I tipped well on this occasion. Great for large or small parties. Book to avoid disappointment. All in all, I will be visiting again. Happy eating.

After a slightly sticky start where they forgot we were coming that night and they had no brunch food or drinks in, it turns out to be a really yummy fun meal. The chef managed to whip us up some amazing Mexican Arepas. These are like burgers but the bread is made out of corn and taste good but they were a bit dense and heavy. We tried all the different fillings but the beef was my favourite. We also had (far too) many drinks, the best being margaritas with chili flakes in. Dangerous but very tasty. Great fun but been suffering for it all day today 😅 The only thing was it was really quiet. No one else was there as the brunch was from 3pm on a Saturday which is a bit of an odd time. I was expecting a bit of a brunch atmosphere but I guess the word needs to get out more. ✅️ LOCATION 5/5 ✅️ WAIT TIME 5/5 quick! ✅️ TASTE 4/5 good food. ✅️ VALUE 4/5 it was free for us but usually £30-£35 each ✅️ATMOSPHERE 2/5 20/25 good food but I would go a different time when it's busier.

Had one of the best nights in a restaurant I have had. The food was amazing and great value for money. We were the only 2 people left in the restaurant at the end of the night but a lovely waitress called Carolina made us feel very welcome. She even gave us a brief 5 minute salsa lesson which was a great added service! She is amazing and I hope we get to see her again when we next go! Thank you
