This is now Verona. I loved every mouthful. The cocktails are awesome. Definitely going back.

Had the king prawns to start and the seafood risotto for main. The food was fantastic and the service was great, so glad this gem is still a gem after having new owners. Will be coming back soon!

The place is nothing overly fancy but the food speaks for itself. I can recommend the Lasagne, really tasty. The staff are frindly and welcoming.

Hopefully will get better with time Will go back but not for a while

We have been coming here for years and it never disappointed. We went in last on 19th January and Luigi said it would be changing hands very soon and we could see by the look on his face he seemed to be upset on leaving. The food and atmosphere never faltered. We hope the new owners don't make it into a "hip and happening" place to be. It has lots of regulars and we dare say they will lose custom if things change drastically. We wish all the staff past and present all the best and we see some of you soon when it re opens. Wayne snd Teresa

My favourite and the best restaurant in Nottingham. This traditional family Italian never fails to disappoint on both the food and service. We are regulars and can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. Personal highlights are the steak Diane, lasagne and avocado prawns. You will not be disappointed! 10/10!

Called on chance on Friday evening and what a good decision it was. The staff were so friendly and the food was excellent. We had a 3 course dinner for less than £60 with wine ( which was very drinkable ). This will now be our go-to place when we are in Sherwood. THANK YOU ALL 😋

I’ll start with the positives - The prices are amazingly good. Decent prices for decent food. Both starter and main tasted amazing and was very happy with this. The negatives - the restaurant was really REALLY hot. Granted it was hot outside - but I was sweating whilst at the table. We sat down, ordered our food. The starter came out in less than 20mins from point of order. The mains however - from sitting down to getting the mains it was 1 hour 20mins wait. A very long wait and something which really let the restaurant down on. When the lady came and took our main plates I asked for the dessert menu and she said ok. We then waited another 15mins… In the end my partner asked the guy for the menu and he immediately got them for us. In all it was just an OK experience - hence the 3 stars. I will go back to see if this was just a one off - Im hoping it was. That said - the food itself tasted really good and really good value for money.

First time here husband and 2 teenage children. Absolutely loved the food and couldn’t believe how cheap it was. Yes the owner is slightly passionate to say the least but I generally think it’s because he cares. We will be back. Service was lovely, food lovely. Price excellent.

I loved it. We had a really nice evening. The wine was good and the food really good too. The decor was a bit tired. The chairs are scruffy and worn, the table cloths were holey and the cutlery was cheap and mismatched, but somehow added to the charm. The male owner was a bit short and sharp with us when ordering. We felt panicked to order something. But I'd definitely go back again, there was a nice atmosphere, good food, nice music. ...and the tiramisu, up there with the best.

I don't normally leave bad reviews but this one cannot go without a mention. firstly, i would like to say the food was reasonably tasty but disappointing portion size. We were rushed to order by the old guy (owner) and shouted at by saying "you must know what you bloody want by now" we had only been in the place 3 or 4 minutes, so, we rushed to decide as he was standing over us tapping his pen on the order pad. During the starters, another old guy waiter accidently knocked over a full pint glass of lager while leaning right across the table to clear a plate, well this drink literally went all over me, soaking my trousers, socks, shoes, the chair and floor, he just said sorry and walked off. upon asking if he was going to do about it, he said "what do you expect me to do? pay for your bloody meal or something?" then begrudgingley walked off and came back and slammed a fresh drink on the table asking if we were happy now, this just replaced the one he knocked over. At the end of the meal, there was no offer of apology, no compensation until we argued the point and was given a cheap bottle of red plonk and then he tried to overcharge us. as we left the restaurant and walked to our car, the 2 guys stood out side the doorway ahouting very loudly calling us wan***s and to f**k off and not come back with threats of violence. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. We understand that mistakes get made, it's how you deal with them that makes the difference

Been here many times now. Excellent food & great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Good appalling, tried to talk to the staff about it and they shrugged it off salad was old and dry charged 6.50 chips were greasy, lasagne not a patch on what it used to be, such a shame used to be a lovely place, defiantly won’t be returning!!

The decor is poor-the stairs to the toilets are filthy & unsafe-the toilets are filthy & smelly-the carpet on the stairs demonstrates how the owners have no pride in this restaurant. The food itself was OK & that is all, i can only suggest that if it is true that they are trying to sell the place (rumours) then they have perhaps lost interest. It did not used to be like this but a steady decline in hygiene & quality is quite obvious. Shame on the owners for allowing this decline.

My husband and I visited La Capanna for an evening meal. We ordered from the Early Bird Menu. The bill came that itemised a steak from the regular menu; I pointed this out to the manager who said we did not order the steak from the EBM. He began raising his voice, shouting he knows his menu, having worked at the restaurant for 50 years, furthermore, there wasn’t any sirloin steak on the EBM… throwing his arms up in the air like someone demented and continued with his ranting. I asked him to bring me the EBM, surprise surprise, there it was, printed in black and white. He continued being very rude, at which point the dinners opposite, commented on how rude his attitude was. Also he charged us for a dessert that was included on the EBM. The restaurant was packed with customers and I did not want to cause a scene, as this old infuriating man who should have retired years ago, so I paid the bill. The lovely waitress heard what was going on, and kindly gave us back the cost for the dessert and a drink on the house. Two tables away from my husband and I, a customer ordered some type of fish dish, and was given chicken!! Say no more! Clearly the manager needs to call it a day, walk away and tend to his garden… where he can make all the mistake his heart desires, by pulling up flowers instead of weeds!! What should have been a lovely evening, turned out to be a disastrous disappointment. The meal was lovely, I would love to return, however, for fear of him poisoning our meals, I shall refrain. For this reason I am scoring a 1, as the whole evening was totally ruined!!

Came here for valentine's day and had a really good time. Everyone working seemed to be having a lot of fun and the food was excellent. Initially I was a little disappointed with the size of my main course because it looked very small but it had actually just been craftily prepared and was plenty! Absolutely planning on coming here again

I'd never been before but will definitely go again. Really lovely food, quite a dated decor but if you squint, you could be in Italy in the 1970s. Very 1970s prices too.. 👍

Beautiful meal with warm comfortable surroundings and exemplary service! Delicious food with a varied menu and drinks selection.

Its my first visit, having passed by for years. I was so disappointed, I was expecting far more, I do like Italian restaurants and food. It has clearly had much better days. Its very well worn, going upstairs to the facilities, is a treck and a challenge, for those infirm or had a good drink its a danger zone. The loos etc are antique ! The food was an expected menu, but it was just OK, a survival. The staff lack a conversating, its just a chore ! I was very saddened by the experience, bearing in mind Sherwood now has very competitive offerings. This falls well short.

Really disappointing visit, food was dreadfully, waiting 40 minutes for a pizza, told it had been burnt but could do another one, lasagna was no better than a supermarket budget brand, informed the waitress we weren't happy and told 'one of those days' there are loads of great restaurants in the area, don't go here!

We come here as a family very often, food is absolutely wonderful, atmosphere is exactly as I have experienced in Italy, staff are authentically themselves which is my favourite part, I love them all and won’t stop coming..wonderful!!

Just arrived home from a fabulous meal with friends at, La Capanna. Very friendly staff, excellent food, (And the chef knows how to cook a rare steak). We'll definitely be going back. Sue

Extremely rude and unprofessional owner of the place. Just for this reason alone, I wouldn’t go back to this restaurant. To top it off, the food was very poor and the wine was awful. Even ordering our food was an unpleasant experience. I asked for a recommendation (which I usually do, especially if the menu has close to a 100 options), and he wasn’t particularly helpful. I asked if they served anything other than just the house wine by the glass, and he just yanked the menu away from us hurriedly saying “yes, that one is very good”. It was awful. All I wanted to know was if he had anything else, because I rarely go for the house wine, and didn’t want a whole bottle. The food took ages to arrive and seemed to be reheated frozen stuff. The worst thing about the whole experience was the owners attitude. He was swearing profanities at his staff in Italian and slamming the table. Totally uncalled for and made the whole restaurant silent in disbelief.

We chose this place to have a family reunion. There were a total of 22 people and every single person was disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and the portions were tiny. My monk fish dish was dry and overcooked, and it didn't touch the sides. Even the 2 young children were not impressed with their basic pasta dishes (which were a little larger). Worst of all was the service by the manager/owner. He was loud and kept shouting over as at his waitress. He never cracked a smile (until we were due to pay the bill of course). At just gone 9 pm he started making moves to close so we asked what time he closes and he just said "NOW!" The premises are tired and the atmosphere grim. I will never go back.

Ordered our meal. The owner was shouting at a female member of staff telling her to F off home in the middle of the restaurant. Absolutely discusting behaviour. She clearly felt very uncomfortable but he carried on swearing and shouting Customers were saying something should be said We had waited an hour no food. We left and my husband said this is unexceptionable and that he was a bully He said it’s his wife Like this makes a difference. He ran from behind the bar and started shouting at us

Service was good... food was excellent... In fact it was the best fillet I've had in years... would highly recommend My only advice... turn the so called background music down...

Music was a little loud which raised the volume of chatter to be heard above it BUT the best Italian meal we have had in a long time. Steaks, fish dishes and carbonara were all excellent ! Service was good and we will not hesitate to return soon !!

Lovely atmosphere, homely, beautiful food

Delicious food. Has a real family business vibe to it. I had the bruschetta followed by the bistecca al pepe nero (sirloin with peppercorn and brandy sauce) and honestly the sauce is probably the best I’ve ever had. Seasonal veg served separately was also perfectly seasoned and delicious. My partner enjoyed her carbonara and my mum was also very complementary about the sauce that came with her chicken. Fairly loud inside but I quite like that, it felt cosy. Will definitely come again.

Best steak Italian style that I have ever tasted! Starters, veg, sauces & puds all full of flavour. Lovely friendly lady working the tables & efficient service in a traditional style restaurant. Already booked to go again.

Brilliant experience, we went for the early bird dinner, the food was fantastic both mine and my partners starters were great, he had the pork main which was so soft and delicious and I had the lasagna which was very tasty and rustic plus the house wine was nice too. Would definitely go back and definitely reccomend this place to go to.

Este es un italiano "sin lujos" que ofrece platos sencillos a un precio razonable. Dos comidas de 3 platos y una botella de vino de la casa por 50 libras no parecían tan malas. El ambiente es agradable y la decoración, aunque un poco anticuada, parece aumentar su encanto de alguna manera. Sin embargo, los tonos vocales de Demis Roussos sonando de fondo me hicieron comprobar que el plato de mi esposa no había sido reemplazado repentinamente por Moussaka. Aparte de eso, fue una experiencia muy agradable y un lugar al que esperamos volver. ! !

La comida es buena. Y el personal es encantador y educado, pero el propietario es bastante brusco y no tan amable, lo que puede ser un poco desagradable. Esperamos una hora para empezar y tenía mucha hambre, entiendo que estaba ocupado debido al 50% de descuento, pero no me disculpo, aparte de la señora al final que trajo la factura. La comida estaba bien, creo que los estándares se deslizan un poco cuando están ocupados y bajo presión, pero por lo que pagamos no puedo quejarme. El propietario solo necesita ser un poco más amigable, siempre parece miserable y ágil incluso con los clientes.

Don't be put off by negative reviews. The food in this establishment well cooked and good value for money. Unfortunately the maitre'd is a little brusque. I believe that this is perceived to be rude. I'm guessing he is simply a square peg in a round hole, but he isn't unpleasant.

Lovely food, but a little cramped for space. Very varied menu. A little loud when full and the music doesnt help.

Crowded, noisy, great. A slice of Italy, lovely atmosphere, great food (artichoke hearts sensational). House wine excellent for the money. Service a little idiosyncratic but lovely. You will go long way to find place that feels more like being on hoilday.

We all had a super meal, the staff were friendly & efficient. The food was excellent, the steaks were cooked to perfection, the salmon also was delicious, vegetable fresh, tasty & plentiful. Wines were super too. Thank you to all at La Capanna for making my father's birthday so enjoyable.

I tried steak here, it was nice, the vegetables they bring it was actually more impressive. it was roasted marinated with garlic sauce vegetables. but bill was a bit suprising:)

After visiting sherwood for some drinks we decided to try this restaurant on entering the premises we asked if they had a table for two and was willing to wait but the manager reply when turning his back no and carried on with a menu to an empty table which just after this three table emptied after they finished their meal.I would just like to say thank you to the owner for the worst customer service ever a perlite answer would of done but I shall be avoiding this restaurant as I believe it won’t get any better.

we booked a table for my birthday meal, there were 5 of us and my daughter was sat at the head of the table about 20inch from the bar, the staff kept squeezing by her whilst we were eating which was really annoying. The Manager was shouting at all the staff, and they were all arguing amongst themselves. it was not a relaxing atmosphere and the food was nothing special. Will be returning to lougis in Arnold for Xmas, were the food is fantastic and the staff are so friendly. Will not be returning to Lacapana.

Both ordered from early bird menu (£13.50 for two courses). Good choices - at least six for each course - and I could happily have had any of them. The food arrived hot and was fresh and tasty. Good portion size, but nothing left on either of our plates.

I've been going regularly for a few years and I've been knocked out by the consistency of the food. It's also very reasonably priced,pI read quite a few reviews saying the manager was rude. He can be. It's all part of the 'charm' and I find it quite amusing really. He's been there nearly 30 years and the di k g area looks as though it's from the same age. La comida aquí era buena, tuve el spaghetti carbonara, que era encantador. El pan de ajo no era tan bueno, solo estaba empapado con mantequilla. El servicio era un poco cuestionable ya que no trajeron el pan de ajo hasta la mitad de mi comida. En general, no está mal, pero podría ser mejor

We arrived at this restaurant without booking on a Friday night, the restaurant was half full and so wasn’t a problem. The food choice and food was fine, but the service was unbelievable. We asked for a table for 2 to be unstructured ‘ other there!’ When bringing the food it was slammed down on the table, took payment and was no ‘ how was your meal’ etc when leaving no good bye. Felt from entering that they did not want us there, the waiter ( who I think was the owner) was rude and abrupt.. I wanted another drink but was too scared to ask. It was such a shame that a great restaurant was let down by poor customer service. Would not return.

Algunos habían dicho que la decoración estaba pasada de moda, creo que encajaba bien y había un ambiente muy acogedor. Debo admitir que si estuviera lleno, sería muy acogedor. El personal era muy amable y la comida era excelente, personalmente me hubiera gustado un poco más de ajo, pero esa es mi elección. El servicio fue muy bueno. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Mi pareja y yo pedimos del menú de reserva anticipada, siguiendo a amigos que recomendaron el restaurante. Tanto la lasaña como el pollo eran preciosos. Los dos nos sentimos como si el restaurante se vería mucho mejor si se abren las persianas, parecía un poco aburrido por dentro. La mayoría del personal fue muy amable. Sin embargo, uno de los caballeros parecía grosero y brusco.

Following recommendation we booked a table for four a fortnight in advance hoping to enjoy some good quality authentic Italian food.

It’s a family run Italian restaurant with dated decor that takes you back to the 90s but it’s all part of the allure. It brings nostalgia and whilst the gentleman who often waits may feel sharp and doesn’t offer the overly cheerful demeanour younguns do, there is a real charm about this place. (The old chap is actually very funny). We’ve been a couple of times, mostly when we’ve had a bad day at work and fancy eating out on a budget instead of going home to slave in the kitchen. We’ve always opted for the early bird offer which is budget friendly to young professionals like myself and the food is always spot on. The homemade pate and homemade garlic bread are fantastic starter options that stands out. A great independent assset to the local community.

Buena comida y servicio, una velada muy agradable. El menú de madrugadores es muy restringido pero el menú principal es bastante interesante. Lamentablemente, no abren a la hora del almuerzo; sin embargo, resultó ser bueno porque descubrimos el camino de Mistral y se ha convertido en uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para visitar.

Very disappointed. Was really excited about this as we live so close. Arrived at 7.20 promptly sat. Ordered at 7.30 starters arrived at 8.10 then didn't receive mains untill 8.50. Pizzas came cold... no check back was done to us... so no one to tell that it was stone cold. When mentioned to the manager he actually argued back stating that " if you all ordered pizzas they would of been hot" absolute joke To he honest. U should be able to order what you like not what makes it easier for the chef.... avoid if u want separate meals!

First visit to this lovely little restaurant in Sherwood. Very pleasantly surprised that they could cater for coeliacs and were happy to advise. There were two of us - we both chose the same spaghetti Arabiatta option - and it was delicious!

Hemos estado aquí varias veces y siempre disfrutamos de la comida, pero el personal? ? ? Hay un hombre italiano gruñón que terminé llamando Basil Fawlty. No nos sentimos bienvenidos, el restaurante estaba frío, de hecho, la gente que estaba en la mesa de al lado estaba comiendo en sus abrigos. Pedí un martini para que nos dijeran que no servimos cócteles! Más tarde noté una botella de martini detrás de la barra. La comida era encantadora, pero nos sentimos incómodos. El servicio que se podría decir era bueno, pero nos sentimos como si estuviéramos siendo apurados. Una sonrisa del personal no estaría mal aquí. Sentí que el italiano estaba a punto de ser grosero. No creas que volveremos.

I am an elderly gentleman I came tonight with my family to eat and celebrate life with Giorgio. I was deeply disappointed not to see his photo with Luigi above the bar with all the wonderful things the boys have done over the years and my coming to the restaurant. The food is excellent but I was disappointed that I could not raise my glass to Giorgo, I miss you

OMG awesome. Went on Sat evening and had pasta as really wanted Italian the 4 others in my party ordered steaks which they raved about so I tried my husband's and felt cheated my pasta was amazing but the steak was even better so went back this evening and had fillet steak with pepper sauce and did not need a steak knife could have cut with a plastic fork and the flavours were delicious. Veg all cooked to perfection also Great flavours not just boring veg. Great staff Luigi Rima Lucy and chef. Lovely atmosphere. Hope to visit again soon keep up the good work guys. Would highly recommend this restaurant

Como visitante del Reino Unido y amante de la comida italiana, debo decir que no soy fan de La Capanna. Aparte de la pieza de metal que encontré en mi pasta (que el propietario insistió en que venía de una sartén, y por la cual no se ofreció compensación), la comida era insípida. Primera y única visita para mí. Mis amigos, que son lugareños, estaban igualmente impresionados.

Esta es la segunda vez que mi compañero y yo visitamos este restaurante esta vez con amigos, lamentablemente será la última.

It felt like home! With the serious Italian Man seeming to run the show, we arrived for the early bird menu and the place was packed. He managed to get us a seat by working out the incoming reservations though. My friend had been recommending this place and I had driven by it for years, so we finally went last Friday. He had Steak, I had tagliatelle with mushrooms, asparagus and cream sauce. I’d tell the starters, but can’t remember how to say or spell the name. He had minestrone and loved it. Happy with his half a carafe of red wine as well! The service was quick, but not rushed. And the man who seated us, took our order and brought us our bill, reminded me of my Grandpa. Just as serious, although not as grumpy.

Had a nice meal here tonight with my son food was ok but what shocked me was being charged £8.40 for 2 cokes meal was £21 my son had a starter and main from the specials menu I had a Lasagna but to be charged £8.40 for 2 cokes I couldn't quite believe especially as I could see a 2 litre bottle of coke sat behind the bar

Decided last minute to eat out. Went with my partner having rated here couple of weeks ago with friends.

Four of us dined here on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was fairly busy, so service was a bit slow. But once served the food was fresh, hot and tasty. Affordable prices.

We ate for the first time at the restaurant, we waited 50 mins for our main course. The restaurant is quaint, the tables are too close and the two ladies were rushed off their ll , they could really do with another member of staff

Beautiful Pizza cooked by Tony the resident Chef. Cooked to perfection but way to much for me to eat. excellent value for money.

Have been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed it. Went last night with my partner and his parents ordered at 7.30 and at 8.30 the starters arrived - mine was a bowl of olives, so how that took an hour I don't know, the others were pate and a bowl of mussels. At 8.50 a couple sat at the table next to us and got their starter within 10 minutes. At 9.15 the couple next to us got their main course and ours was nowhere in sight. We left and went across the road to Rakki Rakkas and got served immediately. This reatuarnt should remember that Sherwood now has loads of restaurants, with excellent customer service surrounding it.

Was here tonight 11/09/2018 with my partner and few other to celebrate his birthday! There was 5 of us in total! The food was I have to say nice but portions were pretty small! The tables were also on the small side and we were sat in the middle and there was very little room between our party and a couple sat on a two seat table! The place was uncomfortably warm and the owner seemed a little on the miserable side, considering I did not even have a starter or a desert the £110 price tag was a little over the top!

He comido aquí muchas veces y siempre he estado satisfecho. Esta ocasión no fue diferente. Pedí Steak Diane con vegetales asados ​​y fue encantador.
