I disliked how one had to have a timed reservation. The small restaurant section had about 18 dining, so it was not full. The battered haddock was fair. It was accompanied by a generous serving of chips and a small salad. The duo of ice cream was very pleasant. Total cost including a 330ml beer was GBP24.75. Service was slightly pushy but otherwise OK.

Not a happy dining experience. Quite a few items listed on the menu were unavailable. Some of the wines listed by the glass weren’t available and those that were came in individual sized bottles. The waiting staff were most apologetic about the wines and lack of menu items. We ordered a burger. The meat patty was absolutely delicious but served dry in a toasted bun with no relish or dressing. We spoke politely to “mine host?” Who was quite rude and said everyone preferred their burger that way and had we asked we could have had something in our bun. As we didn’t know our burger was going to be served “dry” how would we have known to ask !

Stayed at the Kyle Hotel for two nights while on a tour. Breakfast in the main dining room, reserved a style and was very good. Dinner in the pub was nice as well. We had fish and chips which were excellent, deep-fried, mushrooms, delicious salad. Shared the room with many locals who were there to watch the rugby match.

We found ourselves stranded in the lovely Kyle of Lochalsh due to a broken down vehicle, and needed a hot meal on a Sunday evening. We had walked past the Nor-West Bar (attached to the Kyle Hotel), so decided to go for dinner there. The atmosphere was of a local pub where folks would go for a few pints and to watch Sky Sports and maybe shoot some pool, as well as tourists and hotel guests. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat down to peruse the menu. My partner really enjoyed his Wothingtons, and my chardonnay was tasty but was served at room temperature (even though we both thought we saw the barman take it out of a fridge). The menu looked to have a good variety of types of dishes. My partner ordered a mixed grill for £22 and I ordered a vegetarian dish, mysteriously named "Moroccan style cauliflower roulade" for £14. The food arrived quickly, but was cooked poorly. The pieces of meat in the mixed grill were small - which is not necessarily a problem if you don't want a huge portion - but were really tough and unenjoyable. The best part of the roulade was the lightly roasted new potatoes on the side - the roulade was a skin of cauliflower leather, filled with a nicely spiced but very dry chickpea "chutney;" the root vegetables on the side were bland and, despite being diced quite small, were partly undercooked. I left half of the food on my plate. My partner ate all of his food out of sheer hunger and because we had already paid when we ordered. Would NOT recommend for anything except perhaps a pint. Worst meal we have had in a very long time, and prices were very high for the poor quality of cooking involved.

Travelled half way around the world to taste Scottish salmon. Surrounded by it but when ordered, the portion served up was disappointingly small. Broccolini was cool. Waiter advised of salmon portion and said he would tell the chef but didn't bother getting back to me. £18.50 for small piece salmon and three boiled potatoes and cold broccolini. NEVER again. Be warned.

Would suggest staying well clear of this place ...I have never ever witnessed staff whom are so arrogant and rude... we stayed locally and decided to go here to eat as it’s one of the only places in Kyle of Lochalsh... food was average and after ordering food 5 mins after 8:30 we were insulted by staff and told not to order food after half past 8...never experienced anything like it .. stay clear!!!

My wife and I stopped in by the Norwest Bar on a Sunday afternoon recently for a quiet lunch and to watch the football on TV. Nice enough bar, with plenty seating. Service at hotel reception was fine. Unfortunately the guy working behind the bar provided us with the worst customer service we've ever encountered. As we arrived, we went to the bar to order a drink. We waited quite some time before we got the following acknowledgement, "I'll let you know when I'm ready." He then proceeded to find anything else to do before serving us. We went and found some seats. After a significant amount of time grumbling and marching around, the bar man announced that he was ready - wonderful, we couldn't wait any longer before giving him our custom. Went to order our food and drinks - they don't serve food until 5pm - okay. Went to pay for our drinks by card - they don't accept card payments unless it's over £10 -oh. Having gone to the bank down the street to take cash out, we were able to enjoy a glass of coke and a cup of tea. Felt sorry for the guy to be honest, he is clearly in the wrong job. Hopefully we didn't trouble the guy too much. Pretty uncomfortable being customers with him serving us though, it must be said.

We stayed here for 2 night while visiting Skye Island. The village is quite small, as far as i saw, this being the only hotel. There is at least a supermarket. It seems the hotel has 2 types of rooms: the ones closer to the reception and restaurant seamed more fancy, while the ones closer to the parking lot looked like a hostel. We were a large group and bought the trip thorough an agency but we did not had the choice of choosing the room type...so when you will select your room, check in advanced so you are not surprised. I got a single room which was very small, smelled funny, with a small window. Both the room and the bathroom need better cleaning and upgrades. The breakfast and dinner were ok. Avg price per dinner (small soup, main course with meat, small bear) =25pounds.

We did not stay at this venue but used the bar and restaurant. This venue is used by locals and restaurants. We dined one evening and had a straightforward basic fish and chips. All freshly cooked and well presented. Large piece of fish and not so much batter. The was a lack of pumped ales but plenty of choices of local bottled ales. A place that is okay to dine at for a fill up and not fine dining. Saying that, we would use again.

After reviewing the unimaginative menu choices we settled on sharing several items from the appetizers. Mistake number two, the prawns (possibly from a can) were covered with a pink sauce that was dreadful. The toast with cheese and tomato was something my children could have made. There wasn't much open in Kyle on a wet evening; we didn't see the very discreet sign for the Waverley opposite, and wished with hindsight that we'd eaten there. What we had at the Kyle was perfectly edible, but not remotely memorable, and that was the exception in a series of excellent meals in Wester Ross and Skye. We had "posh fish and chips", ie battered salmon. Good fish, reasonable batter, decent chips. The focus is more on quantity than quality, and it depends what you're after, really.

We stopped here after failing to find any other places to eat. It's quite a tired hotel but lovely and clean inside. We decided to go in for food and the lady who served us was lovely. Very attentive and patient considering we had a very indecisive 9 year old with us. The menu was varied and very appealing with all mains accompanied by your choice of either chips, mash, new potatoes and mixed veg or a side salad. We got 3 grilled chicken breast meals all with new potatoes and veg and peppercorn sauce. We all loved the sauce so asked for more and the chef sent out a very healthy portion of extra sauce for us. We had one starter of prawn cocktail served in a sea shell with some leaves. Looked lovely. Our 9 year old had chicken goujons with chips and veg, the chicken was proper full mini breast fillets in homemade batter and the chips were the best we've ever had. So good in fact we ordered a portion for the table with our meals. Before having our meal and deciding from the menu, we were served a complimentary basket of bread with butter, which is very rare to find in restaurants today unless you're charged for it. All in all it was a fantastic meal, of very healthy portions and worth every single penny. With all of this, it came to less than £40 so excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend to anyone in this area.

We both ordered half a roast chicken and chips, however we were informed that they only had one half chicken left. The staff offered to cook a chicken breast wrapped in bacon as an alternative which my wife had and said was delicious. The half roast chicken was equally as good and the chips were more like mini roast potatoes, this is by no means a criticism as they were crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside. The drinks and meal were reasonably priced. The staff polite and friendly.

After a less than cheery highland welcome by a female bar tender (Friday 30/8/2013) I turned to my companion and suggested we retreat but only for the fact that it was late and we were hungry we persisted. My companion works in the hospitality industry and he was quite taken aback by the awful attitude of someone who did not greet us nor spoke other than to take our order. Is this what service comes to now in the Highlands when money comes easy from tourists and, as a result, employees feel they don't really have to make an effort.....listen carefully 'visit Scotland', if you want Scots to enjoy vacations do something about the employees in the service industries who treat customers like a right 'scunner'! Unfortunately it was my own bad decision to go into the Kyle Hotel. The restaurant room looked very out of time, as did the whole building actually. The menu wasn't to big or to small and there was something for everybody on it. The meals where a kind of classical dishes, nothing special or outstanding. We ordered grilled goats cheese and crab cocktail for starters and posh fish and chips and chicken with sauce "Diana" with chips and veg.We didn't have to wait to long for our starters, what is a good sign. The crab cocktail was pretty much okay and the goats cheese was just a slice of cheese on a small slice of toast quickly grilled under a salamander. No drizzel of olive oil or anything in this way. A few leafes of salad served with this. The starters where nothing special at all, but obviously standart in this place. The main arrived shortly after the starter plates where cleared. The posh fish & chips wasn't that "posh" meal I thought its gonna be. The chunky chips tasted like fish! Obviously deep fried beside the fish. The battered salmon was tasteless and the batter itself tasted like old frying oil and it was soaked with frying oil. A very bad sign what means that the days of the deep fat frying oil are completely over! The peas served with this dish where also tasteless and there was no sign of a knob of butter or olive oil. I guess they where just heated up in a microwave without seasoning at all. All in all a very dissapointing dish! The chicken which my girlfriend chose wasn't much better. The breast was overcocked, what means that the meat was dry. The sauce "Diana" what should be a mushroom sauce (the waitress sayed so when we ordered) was a sauce which just tasted like mustard with a few pieces of mushroom in it. The veg looked like frozen veg just boiled in plain water, just like my peas tasteless and no sign of a knob of butter. Her chips, compared to my chips, didn't taste like fish. I asked myself, do they have 2 fryers? All in all, the main courses didn't leave a good feeling for us about this restaurant. So we didn't ordered any dessert and just asked for the bill.Fazit: we can't recommend this restaurant to anybody at all. But if you don't mind tasteless & boring food, you may feel welcome there. The only half good thing where the service. At least the 2 woman working this evening tried to be as friendly and (in there own way) professional as possible.Well, when we arrived back at our B&B we checked Tripadvisor and found out that "The Waverley" Restaurant opposite the Kyle Hotel had the highest ratings of all restaurants in this area. We should have stayed though. We didn't eat there but do not waste your time and money by eating at the Kyle Hotel, go into the Waverley restaurant straight away!

We popped into the Kyle for something to eat but the restaurant didn't open til 6pm so the girl behind the bar offered us the "pub grub" menu. Food was excellent. Two home cooked meals and drinks for under £15, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's close to the centre of town. Try it out if you have the chance, you wont be disappointed.

70s decor, 70s menu, dull dull dullPortions enough to feed a small family so if it is calories for a pound you are after then go ahead. On valentines day we were the ONLY customers . . . I rest my case.

My husband and I were staying in Kyle of Lochalsh for 3 nights. Looking for somewhere to dine we tried the Kyle. We couldn't fault service or meal so we went back on our 3rd night. The restaurant was half empty with at least 2 tables of 2 unreserved. We asked if we could dine, the manager rushed over and said nothing available for an hour, we could eat in the bar or wait. We said we would wait and went through to the bar. Whilst enjoying a drink and watching the cricket the chef came out and watched the cricket for a couple of minutes. We walked out and had a fabulous meal elsewhere.

Avoid this place . Poorly cooked frozen fish and staff who see you as sn inconvenience. They add a 10% service charge and offer rubbish service.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We stayed at this Inn/Hotel at the beginning of November, returning home we received an email asking us to review our stay. This we did by email, however, we did not receive a reply nor did we receive a reply to our follow up copy email, which I now type below. "Many thanks for your email, usually we send a report good or bad to Tripadvisor, as you have asked for feedback I am happy to share our thoughts with you initially. I have an email from you confirming our reservation from the 4th to the 8th November, 2024 in a Garden Room. This was because we have a dog and thought this would be an easier option should she need to go outside. When we arrived we had NOT been booked into a Garden Room for our five nights, as per your confirmation. We were offered a garden room for 3 nights and two other nights elsewhere within the hotel. I really did not feel changing rooms, packing and unpacking for two nights was a good idea, so we opted to stay again in Room 111 for the five night stay. I am sure you will agree, this was not a good start to our holiday. I spoke to another couple who had also booked a garden room only to find they too had been misallocated a room and these long established customers were very upset and vowed not to return next year for their 8th year. I feel it necessary to draw to your attention the lack of servicing for Room 111. Each day our duvet was "just turned over at the top", the bottom sheet was not straightened and the pillows were as we had arisen, not even straightened and aligned. The cleanliness in the bathroom left much to be desired. As I am sure you are aware there is no toilet brush next to the lavatory. The toilet was not cleaned throughout our stay and the bowl after five nights was turning a light shade of brown, however, diligent attention was paid to folding and making the spare toilet roll and the one for use look pretty. I would have preferred a clean toilet. This takes me on to the bath. On arrival there was a single long dark hair in the bath, as we did not use the bath and both have grey hair, this was still there when we left!! The shower doors require a thorough clean and polish, there is black mould on the wall and around the base of the shower. During our stay this was NOT cleaned at all. Mould and Mildew spray with a toothbrush would solve this problem. Likewise the wash hand basin was neglected. No dusting or vacuuming was carried out in the room for the duration of our stay. For your information I left a piece of cotton and a clean tissue on the floor and they were not picked up. When we had dinner in the bar area dogs were quite welcome. However, in the morning we did feel rather like second class citizens as we were with other dog owners required to use the alternative dining room, which was uninviting and a long way from the self-service area in the breakfast room. On two days for breakfast we were along with four other owners with dogs, allowed to use the breakfast room. No explanation was given for the flexible rule. To end on a good note, the staff were pleasant and helpful, always willing to assist in anyway they could. It is with interest I await your response. " On our next trip to Scotland we shall stay elsewhere.
