Kwok Pao in Newcastle upon Tyne

1st time ordering from Kwok Pao in a long time and I had totally forgot how amazing the food is. Salt and chilli crispy chicken was beautiful. All tasty everything hot!

The shop has been recently renovated and it’s really nice place to be at if you’re collecting your order. The food is delicious and owners put their heart in the job - from the regular updates on their Facebook page to going personal with regular customers and knowing what their usual food choices are. Absolutely great food shop!

Would definitely recommend after trying here for the 1st time. Food was fresh, hot & delicious . Special fried rice with the slice of chicken & slice of char Sui on top. Huge prawns & chunks of chicken in it. Salt & chilli prawns crispy & spicy & lots of them. After trying a few Chinese take aways & being really disappointed this is now my new favourite & will definitely be returning

One of the best Chinese takeaways in newcastle. A bit more spicier than normal Chinese

Saw mixed reviews on tripadvisor and had to chip in! Consistently come here, and never disappointed. Canny staff and top notch food. Has ruined every other Chinese takeaway in the UK for me - Chezza chooses it for a reason!

Been going here for literal years, always slaps, would never go anywhere else. big portions and good quality meat. 10/10

Best Chinese takeaway in the area!

It blows my mind that this place has such a high rating. The food I got was utterly dreadful....by far the worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had by a country mile. I don't know how it's possible to start with chilli and garlic, two of the most flavourful ingredients on Earth, and make a chilli and garlic sauce that has no taste whatsoever. The meat seemed really cheap and processed too. I will not be ordering from here ever again.

Working throughout Newcastle the team and myself have stopped off on route for a quick bite to eat at many different Chinese take aways. This is by far the best place in Newcastle to get salt and pepper chilli chips. Like all the food served it's always fresh hot and tastes good. Would recommend to everyone.

Decided to have a change from my tasty chilli and garlic dish.Opted for Red Thai Curry after getting advice off the staff(Kev).They customised it to my own preference,and WOW!! It was the best Thai curry I’ve had,better than my visit to Thailand!!I would highly recommend Kwok Pao,best Chinese takeaway in Newcastle 5*.

Lovely staff! Food arrived a little late tonight and the gentlemen gave me it on the house, touch of class 👌🏻 food was lush!

I've had the odd dish before but on NYE we ordered a bit of a banquet. Everything was delicious. I'm a bit of a carnivore and the meat content was good. Love it.

Was recommended here by a friend who has been coming here for years! And was definitely not disappointed. Food is lovely, everything tried so far has been delicious, Been looking for a good Chinese takeaway and definitely found it.

This has been my favourite Chinese takeaway in Newcaslte for the past 6 years since I first discovered it. The ower is the loveliest man. The only time they made a mistake in the order, the owner drove to our house to give us a curry sauce without us asking. The food here is amazing, cannot get enough of this place :)

Been going here for years(30) always been great food but will not be returning! The last two time myself and husband had a bad tummy and I also found a black hair in my food totally turned my stomach needless to say we will not be returning ........

After reading some good reviews I thought I'd give it a go Disappointed to say the least 1/2 Crispy duck wasn't really shredded properly and carton was just over 1/2 full it was nicely cooked Rice was ok , chicken dish wasn't as nice as my usual takeaway . Veg chow mien was ok , Hot and spicy soup was lovely Think I'll stick to my usual place when they reopen in 2 weeks .

Friendly male staff, food is always on point - it's delicious. Prices are spot on. Love the food, curry is always good, chicken chow mein is gorgeous. Never in 6 years of living in Newcastle have I had a bad experience here. Family run business, nice to see.

I have been going to this place for years and it is still the same people who own it. The food is what you would expect and it never changes. the staff are friendly and have a laugh with you.

Always eat here when we get Chinese and have never had a bad meal. Would recommend the honey chill chicken it's lush. The staff are always lovely and friendly.

Staff are Always happy to help you,the food doesn't have very much msg in it unlike some take always they can be to heavy handed with it. The food is always hot and very tasty don't think I'd go anywhere else...

I had heard so many people raving about this takeaway I thought I would try it for myself.... What a mistake There was nothing special about the House special curry... 1 prawn and a few chunks of chicken then loaded with huge lumps of peppers and onions to bulk out the insiped tasting curry sauce. Everything was grey looking and tastless. The salt and chilli ribs had very little meat on them and were over cooked to the point the what meat was on the bone was dry. Underneath was a watery sauce with no taste. The prawn dish was undiscribable and had no taste but we guessed it was the Sachuan we had ordered. It was a pastey looking beige colour again bulked out with onions and peppers. Never ever again...... The chef needs to take a few cooking tips from the chef at The Golden gate next to the Turbinia Bar in walker... The food is amazing !

After being highly recommended on Facebook I thought I'd give this place a go. The menu is a little confusing and took a while to actually find what I wanted. Once ordered I realised that you have to pay by cash... Yes there was a beaten up old sign behind the counter that I hadn't seen on my way in, whoops, what kind of modern day establishment doesn't take card? After giving my shrapnel over I took a seat. On looking around I noticed the slightly grimy looking newspaper cuttings that show that Simon Cowell and Cheryl once ate here, well if it's good enough for them I thought! I then noticed the 3* food hygiene rating... Mmm not so good. Smells from the back were good though so I was happy when my food came really quickly and I headed home. I had ordered chilli and garlic beef and prawn with salt and chilli chips. The beef and prawn dish looked good, lots of veg it was only on eating that I realised lots of veg also meant not a lot of meat, the sauce however was really tasty. The chips were greasy and soggy which was a shame because the coating was really nice. I was left generally disappointed and won't be returning.

I have friends around for drinks and we decided on Chinese food. I have had lots of meals here and think it wonderful but when recommending to friends from around the city was worried as everyone's tastes different. All 7 people got something different and they all loved it. It was hit, flavorsome and plentiful. Fantastic !!

This has been our preferred takeaway for many years now and you can tell that the same chef has been there for the duration. Every meal we have had is top notch and the prices are really good. We haven't had a late delivery from them so our food is always piping hot and delicious when it arrives. This is also the takeaway that Cheryl Cole brought Simon Cowell to when they were recording the X factor auditions here in Newcastle. It was her local takeaway and that's how highly she thinks of it. You won't regret getting a meal from here.

Just the best Chinese - try the chilli salt and pepper chicken hot, spicy and mega tasty. Orders always taken efficiently and delivery is always with a smile and on time. Love it !

My favourite Chinese take-away in Newcastle, with a wide range of delicious dishes. Cantonese crispy king prawns are to die for. Orders are prepared in double-quick time, whether waiting for delivery or in the shop. Highly recommended.

I've used this a few times and have always been served excellent food. Well worth a try of you want good Chinese food.
