Kushi in Castle Point

We attended on Xmas Eve. There were 9 of us and we had booked a table in advance. Upon entry it was clear they were not prepared for us as no table was set. After staff pushed three tables together and hurriedly fetched some napkins we were able to sit. This restaurant does not have an alcohol licence so you bring your own alcoholic drinks. Popadoms to begin and then straight to mains. We waited over an hour for our mains. When they arrived the food was good quality, tasty, hot and nice. When it came to the bill my party was paying with cash and card. A staff member came over and my wife asked for the card machine. He huffed, rolled his eyes and plodded off to get the machine. We had obviously inconvenienced him. Overall it was a nice meal which took a bit too long to serve and the staffs customer service left a lot to be desired. Sadly, although I enjoyed the food, I will not be returning again due to the staff rudeness and the delay in receiving our food. Those two issues spoiled an otherwise enjoyable night.

So had a takeaway tonight, I had chicken vindaloo hubby had chicken Rogan. With side orders and pompadoms.. we did order a paratha but it didn’t come (may be a miss understanding) but they sent one out straight away to us. The food was delicious can’t fault it at all!

Busy night for a Thursday making it difficult to talk as the autistics in the restaurant mean you can hear others conversations and everyone getting louder to overcome this. One person in our party asked for HOT meal as a result we all got excessively hot food. I love spice but this was extreem heat.. waiter tried one dish which was supposed to be mild and agreed it was HOT and chatted with chef. My friends face turned bright red and her lips went numb and as a result she bit her lip and bled. Happy Birthday today Lee, so sorry this spoilt the evening we had to ask for yogurt to cool our meals down and the waiter commented I won't charge you for the yogurt. No offer of a discount or replacement. We both had to use the washroom there and then as upset our stomaches and spent the evening at home on the loo. Disappointing to rate this so poor but the service was lacking and we were not provided with the meal we ordered and no satisfactory resolution. Normally I am complimenting restaurants as feel this is important. A younger waiter who delivered the food to the table spoke to us like we were idiots explaining the dishes as placed on the table.

23 of us booked a Xmas girlie party night at Kushi on Canvey and what an amazing night! We had lovely food and Salim and Shopon made it such a brilliant night! Food and service was superb and they let us dance our socks off! Beat Xmas night ever! Thanks

Have been here a few times before, food is always delicious both eat in and takeaway. Service is fantastic, very polite and helpful staff. We were served by Shopon tonight who was very friendly and gave great service. Will definitely come again, recommend to anyone.

I went for my 18th birthday meal years ago and as tradition, the family gathered again for my 21st to have an AMAZING meal at the Kushi! 17 people can be a nightmare to manage but the staff were really friendly, very helpful including Shaun! Food was DELlCIOUS!!! Thank you guys so so much for making my night special and adding that touch of magic. Will absolutely be back soon!

Absolutely beautiful food, amazing customer service from the Waiter Shopon always made sure we were okay and if we needed anything and knew exactly when and what we wanted to make the experience even more memorable.

This is my First time eating at this fantastic restaurant we was greeted by shopon who was friendly kind and helpful I did spill some food down me and without having to ask he came over and gave me hot towel The food is fantastic as soon as it arrives to your table you can smell the spices I will be back again as I live on island

Went last night with friends, great to get out after christmas day and boxing day roasts. We had a relaxed evening chatting and enjoyed the best curry I have had in a long time. Added bonus of bringing your own alcoholic drinks. Staff (Shopon and Mohammad) were very friendly and helpful.

Come to this Indian restaurant at least one a month food usually great , went there last night and today me and my husband have been non stop sick all day 😔

Oh my goodness what a fun 'big 0' birthday meal we had at the Kushi last night. Hadn't realised at first when I phoned to book that it was the Michael Jackson Tribute evening, so we really lucked in on the entertainment front. The place was packed and buzzing, 'Michael Jackson' was great and had the whole room joining in, singing and clapping along. Food was really good, too, although we were having far too much fun to appreciate it.

Friends and I ate here one evening. We hadn’t eaten here before and so wanted to give it a try after reading the great reviews! We had a nice evening and it was great that we could bring our own wine, beer etc. The food was nice, but pretty average. We have eaten at other, similar restaurants nearby and the quality is better there. We’d be more inclined to revisit those places. I think it just didn’t meet our expectations, especially after reading the online reviews.Waiters are all friendly and the dishes are reasonably priced.

Friendly service and fabulous food. All the food was amazing especially the Shaslick Masala. Shopon and Salim were attentive and didnt rush us. Will definitely be back.

The food is always excellent and served by very friendly and polite staff. The bring your own drink option is superb and encourages us to spend more on food and stay for hours. A great evening and worth a visit.

Seen this restaurant down town for ages but never tried it ... Went tonight with a bottle of red and what a lovely surprise... The food was lovely and the mint sauce is banging !! The food was piping hot and the flavours were lovely ... Set menu was worth every penny !!! Shopon was lovely and really looked after us even gave extra mint sauce lol really lovely people and food is lovely !!! Really recommend!!

When on Canvey visit Kushi for a really good Indian food, a little different from the norm but worth it. Shopon makes you feel welcome and ensures good service, bring your own drink if you want. Try for yourself and you will agree.

I choose to go to kushi as I had read the reviews from here. It sounded liked both the service and food was really good.

Very slow service and none of the usual staff checking in regularly. Waited ages to be offered popadoms, take orders and deliver meals. Main course served nearly 2hrs after we arrived. Food was nice but not worth the wait.

An excellent evening. Great service and food. Top class tribute and enjoyable, fun and fabulous staff, particularly Shopon who wowed us with his service and dance moves.

We booked a table for 13 of us to celebrate my daughters 16th. The staff were great and took care of the decorations for me before we arrived. All the staff were lovely and made us really welcome and made my daughter feel special. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their choices. We've been here a number of times and will continue to go back. It's great that you take your own alcohol. The prices here are really reasonable and no-one felt ripped off . We had a great night.

Having first visited about a year ago

After a recent visit to the restaurant, we can't express enough how happy we were with the food and service. My nan suffers with dementia and Shopon made sure she was comfortable and made it a very welcoming experience for her. The food was to a very high standard, especially the chicken tikka naga!! And the restaurant was very clean and tidy throughout. Once again big thanks to Shopon for his fantastic service and to all at Kushi for a great evening

Visited this week for the first time with my wife and a visiting friend and we had great food, super and friendly service from Shapon and a pleasant evening, all for a reasonable price. Had we known that we could have brought our own alcohol that would have been even better but we will know next time. Can thoroughly recommend.

I placed an order for a takeaway to be delivered, I was advised that the delivery would be 45 - 60 minutes, after and hour and a half I rang them, I was advised that they were really busy and would have to wait at least another 30 minutes, the staff members attitude was very rude to say the least. I have never been spoken to in such a manner. I told them to cancel my order and issue a refund to my credit card. I then resorted to making my dinner guests a ham sandwich

Authentic food which was delivered more quickly than I would have anticipated. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I will use again soon.

Ordered 4 Tikka main meals and asked for extra salad . Got one small salad between 4 people. When I spend £28.00 0n tikka I expect at least one salard each

Had a wonderful meal out at Kushi after an indulgent Christmas. Everything tasted wonderful and had a lot of flavour. Was exactly what we needed to catch up in the busy Christmas period. Brilliant, I have tried most of the Indian restaurants on Canvey and surrounding areas and this is the best I have been to. The food was perfect, well presented, hot and tasty. The service was also amazing, our waiter was Shopon he was friendly thoughout from the moment we arrived untill we left. Will be coming back very soon.

Quick delivery, nice and hot but unfortunately food was quite bland and underwhelming. Had a king prawn dish and the curry only had 2 prawns cut into 6 pieces in it. Perhaps we just got unlucky tonight as most reviews are fantastic.

I moved to Canvey last year and have eaten at Kushi twice now, and had one takeaway: really outstrips all other local Indian fare.

Have visited on many occasions and the food and service is always excellent. Great Menu with a Specials Board. The food is always very tasty always hot and plenty of it. The waiters Mo, Salim and Shopon are lovely guys and very helpful at explaining the different dishes on the menu and are all so friendly and welcoming. The restraunt is unlincensed so bring your own alcohol.

Went for a meal for first time here, mo, salim & shopon made us feel very welcome, would recommend the madras it was hot but with plenty of flavour plus very fair priced! Plus you can take your own alcohol, highly recommend to anyone fancying a decent ruby on the island!

Wonderful night at Kushi. Our waiter Shopon was funny, friendly and very attentive, he advised us on dishes when asked and was very helpful. I would also like to mention Mo and Salim who also were kind enough to say hello and ask if there was anything they could do for us. As this is a take your own alcohol restaurant, they are only too happy to bring glasses, ice, bottle openers for you and take away any empty bottles and cans. Another thing I like about this restaurant is the fact that you can stay as long as you like, even though you’re not buy8ng their drinks.... you are made to feel very welcome. We went with friends, but children are looked after and welcome here too. One other thing I’d like to mention is the lighting...Some restaurants have bright lights that feel like you’re on stage and some are too dark to see what you’re eat8ng....the ambiance is lovely, soft lighting and low music. The food, oh my goodness, was delicious.... my compliments to the chef (again). We have been several times and like to try something new each time, the mixed shaslik was amazing! They bring you an array of dips with your popadums and if you’re like me, we like to have them with the main course too, they are happy to replenish. The food is plentiful.....fresh vegetables, lean meats, rices and sides cooked to perfection. For those that like a dessert, their sweets menu is beautiful too... who doesn’t love a chocolate with the bill? They happily give you extras too. Love it, can’t wait to go back.

Four of us visited the Kushi restaurant for the first time. We were greeted with a big smile from Shopon...and were seated right away.. Ordered our food. Which came up piping hot. Every course was delicious. The staff were very attentive. Making sure we had our drinks opened and poured. We loved the size of the tables and very comfortable seats. We Thank Shapon and other staff, for a throughly good evening. We will be booking again soon.

Recently me and my friend visited kuishi in Canvey Island we enjoyed the food very much we was seated with in seconds and was greeted with a smile from shopon and great service and lovely atmosphere! Would come again!

Had a beautiful meal here tonight. Had the mid week special deal, which was excellent value. All food was amazing - especially the chicken tikka masala (which is the best I have ever tasted) special thanks to the waiter - Shopon- who was excellent.

Had a great meal here, we were greeted by the friendly Shopon who advised us on what’s new on the menu as well as brilliant choices and sides to die for, the chickpea and spinach chana sag were great and the meat thali is an amazing demonstration of what these guys can make out of high quality run of the mill meats.

Back to kushi, my second visit here after a while and nothing has changed from the first visit. Food was exceptional I highly recommend the murgi masala,the service was also impeccable with such friendly staff who are very accommodating to their guests

We have visited Kushi a few times now and really enjoy the food and atmosphere. The menu offers a great selection with new dishes added each time we have been. The food is full of flavour and served well. The staff are very attentive especially Mo, Salim and Shapon - great work guys.

I have just spent a lovely evening here at Kushi catching up with friends. The food and service was excellent and we were looked after very well by Mo, Salim and Shapon. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be going back again soon.
