Absolutely loved this Kurdish restaurant! It’s incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, and has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming and kind, making you feel right at home. They even offer a delicious complimentary soup to start and end the meal with free tea, which is so generous and thoughtful. I recently dined at this place and had a mixed experience. The kofta kebab was nice, full of flavour and cooked well, and the chicken wings were absolutely delicious—juicy and seasoned perfectly. However, the mixed shawarma platter was a letdown; while the chicken shawarma was decent, the lamb shawarma tasted overcooked, almost like it was leftover from a previous batch.To top it off, our drinks were only brought out halfway through the meal, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, there were some hits and misses.

The food was amazing and the lamb kuzi was so good but there was one thing I need to complain about. The service. The young waiter was nice but the other one was inhospitable. He behaved like they were giving food for free.

Food was absolutely delicious. Both types of rice and the softest lamb broth dish was so good. My friend had a tasty grilled sea bass dish which was yummy. BUT the miserable faces and whiny comments from the boss (and main server) was off putting. The younger chaps working there were smiley and hospitable.

Mixed experience - wasn’t offered any lentil soup - the food was very tasty and service was very good - however I came here due to the fact they have pacha on the menu - I could understand if they ran out and had no more in stock. However, it turns out they never ever made it. It’s just an item on the menu.

Came for launch, they offer a lentil soup for free as a starter which is very delicious, then ordered lamb khuzi with plain white along with okra soup or sauce for the rice, and it was perfectly cooked, the meat is very tender. And the bread is fresh and was hot. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. Don't miss the tea after you're done. Absolutely coming back again.

The food was wonderful, the guys working there were super polite and attentative. Very generous servings, light fluffy bread and very fairly priced. We appreciated the lentil soup starter and a fragranant tea at the end of our meal served on the house. It was a lovely touch and in-keeping with their cultural traditions. Pleasently lovely... just a shame we are not local, would have loved to go back.

Mine and my boyfriends first time in here we had two takeaway I had lamb shawarma and he had mixed meat shawarma... By faaarrr the best meat in Pompey and they let us try a cheeky sample just to prove how good they were and my mind was blown!! The customer service was fantastic warm and friendly and they let us take our time (as it was our first time) I will be going there again!!

In my opinion the best place in Portsmouth to get proper kebab. They bake own bread for shawarma. Meat is fresh and tasty, portion is generous.

This was my second time coming here and exact same great service and amazing food! They give free lentil soup as you arrived and it tastes so good! For the portion sizes the prices are pretty good. Definitely recommend and will be coming again.

Bread was good I liked that it was made to order but meat in my mixed shish was average in terms of quality and quantity. On a plus they didn't appear to use tenderisers or flavour enhancers like many Turkish restaurants. Didn't understand the complimentary soup at all.

Unfortunately, the food was not fresh, chicken was having smell, it felt like chicken was not cooked properly, we ordered soup which was not added on the delivery as they “mistook” the order. Heard good things about this restaurant and wanted to try, but the experience we had, this is gonna be first and last time. So disappointed!!!

Frankly speaking, everything is above rating. We came to them fasting and found dates and water on the tables for breakfast. They brought us free lentil soup as an appetizer. We ordered Quzi and kebab. The quantities were large, filling and delicious, God willing. The appetizers with Quzi are many and the prices are appropriate for the service. The place is quiet and nice Thank you very much and we will definitely come back💘

I never make reviews but I'd feel bad if I didn't leave a 5 star review - haven't even left the kebab yet. I payed £4 for a beautiful, MASSIVE shawarma (length of my man forearm and really wide) with a lentil soup. It all seemed homemade, quality was next level, vibes were immaculate, it looked especially clean for a kebab and they were well staffed. Honestly it was divine. Thank you!

Mama Walla this place is amazing. You can’t go wrong, the service is 10/10 the food is just unbelievable. The price was reasonable as well. We had the 18 sheesh platter and it was delicious.

Popped in here after the football just to see what it was like. The food was incredible and really decent value too. The lamb shawarma was something else.

The staff are all extremely friendly. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. And to top it off, the food is a 10/10. Also, as a side note, the portions of food are really generous, so you won't be leaving this restraunt with a half empty belly.

We've had both takeaway and sit in both have the same amazing service. Had sit down and was given lentil soup we tried the homemade houmous with there freshly made bread it was smooth and delicious. We had the shawarma with sides and a shawarma wrap the meat is succulent and delicious with the freshness of the salad and rice The service and people are welcoming and friendly couldn't recommend this place more

Undecided on what to order, the attentive staff guided us through their menu, leading us to fantastic choices. The grilled meat was nothing short of amazing, and the boiled lamb was superb. The portions were generously sized, leaving us unable to finish the delectable feast. The freshness of the bread added another layer of enjoyment to our meal. What's more, the prices at Kurdistan Restaurant are truly amazing. We were pleasantly surprised that our entire meal, with such fantastic choices and generous portions, cost us under £35 for both of us. If you're in the mood for exceptional Kurdish cuisine with friendly service and amazing prices, this is the place to be.

I never recommend you try this restaurant especially if you are persian and expecting even a normal quality Kebab. To be honest, we were entirely disappointed. This was the worst kebab I Had ever tried. Please please do not waste your money.

The food was really delicious. They gave us extra for free. Nice people and lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend it. We had mixed kebab which comes with salad bread and chips.

Hi guys, It was Pompey match day and my boy actually asked to go here as he's never has shawarma! I was actually a shawarma virgin myself so headed in. First thing you notice is it's a cross between a traditional takeaway and a sit in restaurant, all very clean, and tidy. I had the mix shawarma and my son had the chicken!! I said we'd never had it before and before you know it we had a bowl of soup in front of us which was delicious! Then the shawarma arrived and....... Wow!!!! This was amazing, beautifully presented and tasted terrific. This wasnt meat slapped over salad in a pitta!!! The salad was amazingly fresh, meat plentiful, and the bread served delicious!!! I was thoroughly impressed and as I sat there I watched a number of equally beautiful and delicious looking plates pass by. Will deffo come here again!!! Special mention to the staff as well who greeted us with smiles, and we're so friendly! Amazing value to. If you haven't been....Go!!!!

The worse grilled chicken I’ve ever had in my entire life. Wasted. It was burned and extremely dry. My money was wasted. I told them but there wasn’t any action taken.

First thing to say is that all the staff here are friendly and so hospitable. The food is lovely and I always visit here when in Portsmouth. Great atmosphere for families and the extra items they give are great like the flat bread and lentil soup.

Was hungry today and thought to have a quick wrap in Kurdistan restaurant i can't believe it was so delicious the kebab wrap and yes the complimentary soup was a kick start to and wrap arrived with fresh naan the staff was welcoming next time with my family to explore more menu.

The food taste is really bad and waiter is so moody…. Don’t want to listen your request and the food has a very strong bad smell. I would not recommend.

As soon as you sit down they bring you a lovely soup to start with that’s complimentary! The kebab sheesh was extremely delicious! The customer service was top notch.

This restaurant does not represent Kurdish food at all. Absolutely bland food with little effort to make it tasty. Kozy was awful 😖, and lamb was left over from the day before. Okra suop was watery, the okras floating like ducking😁. Tea was awful. Cheap ingredients, of course. Please avoid this place, not worth wasting your money and getting food poisoning.

Waste food. Visited with full of expectations. But the taste of the food becomes a nightmare for me. I ordered grill chicken with rice and they given me grill chicken with rotti😓 and the best thing is that they given me only half cooked grill chicken. I don't know how to eat a half cooked chicken 😓😓😓. Thanks for the lentil soup.

Really bad Sheesh Kebab and rice that I ordered. The meat was so smelly and fatty was unbelievable. I couldn't eat it and left majority of it. Very disappointed as the ambience was nice but the food really let me down. I have eaten at other Kurd restaurants and am very familiar with the cuisine. Was a total let down with me and my family as we were really looking forward to our visit and having a pleasant dinner.

Went here for Mother’s Day today and understandably it was busy, however they seemed short staffed. The waitress said she was the only one working on the floor and serving up to 10 tables if not more, all of which were full. When we got there the tables empty were dirty, we ended up cleaning it ourselves, and when we asked someone to clean it he half cleaned it and even though he said things (bones on the table), he never came back to pick it up or remove the diary plates and cups from the previous diners. We visited as a small family and we met our friends who happened to also be there on another table, whilst talking to them towards the end of the meal, they took away our plates and drinks. I had not even finished!!! Didn’t even touch my drink! Now that I’m thinking about it, as I am writing this I am wondering why I even paid for the awful service and awful food. It was below average, as my husband would say; but I think that’s being kind, to me it was disgusting, i ordered a kebab I couldn’t eat it! It looked uncooked and it had No taste whatsoever, nothing even garlic sauce could fix. Which reminds me, I asked for garlic sauce, but was bought chilly sauce. I’m not sure anyone here speaks English as we asked the waitress questions but she looked at us blankly, then when we asked how a certain meal was eaten, the guy laughed, but it was a serious question! They should have at least one person that can communicate with everyone. I was really excited to go out and eat, and try this new place, new places are always a risk, but I’m sat here in bed at 10pm Hungry!! Maybe it might be different if they weren’t so busy, but also they should consider hiring more on special occasions. One good thing was, they did give my girl a free fruit shoot, but this is the only good thing I have to say. Maybe the cost also was around £35, which is good for 2.5 people. But we barely ate our meals so technically very expensive for nothing! Please take this review on board and make changes, you will benefit.
