Our friends group had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was extremely tasty and service delivery was top notch. The ambience made us feel relaxed and refreshed.

The place is really nice and have lots of food options to choose from. We all went as a group and had a fun time. Great service. Would love to visit again.

Food is very delicious and authentic. They always maintain the consistency in quality and taste. One of my favorite Kerala restaurants in Nottingham. Highly recommend this place. Last time when I visited, I experienced bit of delay in seating due to the shortage of staff. Requesting the management to rectify this inconvenience to the customers. The remaining staff were so polite and tried their best to make us comfortable. Really appreciate their effort.

A group of six of us booked here 04/01/24 after seeing this place on social media. The reviews made it appealing. We do not come over to Nottingham, but not being too far away, we decided to give it a try and bring a few people with us. It really did not disappoint us. Staff are attentive and we didn't have much of a wait for our food. We had pre-starters of poppadoms and pickles, we all had starters and mains. Everything was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Five of us had either meat or seafood meals. I am a vegetarian and was very impressed with the choices available for me. I've not had an Indian meal cooked as beautifully or as tasty as we had at the Kotteram yesterday, in a very long time. We were all very impressed. The price was very fair and we was all very happy to leave staff a tip for the great food and service. Many thanks for a great evening and we shall definitely be returning in the future.

Awesome ambience and delicious food.

Such a wonderful experience with a warm and welcoming service along with yummy food. It was a gem of a place to have authentic Indian food. We tried their crab curry with rice which was so good, papadums with chutneys were on a different level with green apple chutney that surprised us and finally the biryani which was delicious. Highly recommend this place if you are around this town visiting the Nottingham castle as it’s right next to it.

I don't understand the reviews for this place. The service was terrible, there were several empty tables when we arrived and we waited 25 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink (I had to flag someone to ask for one, they didn't ask us). Every drink then onwards we would order and it wouldn't come, so we would have to ask again for the bottle to arrive. We were also ordering champagne (which was 100 pounds) and received this level of terrible service. Will be going to Memsaab or any of the other indians in future.

Had a great meal here on NYE. Food is good and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

We booked in for the first time as a family group for a pre-theatre lunch. The food was amazing, and just the right amount for lunch. The cutlery, glasses and whole restaurant were really clean (which I find is rare in restaurants these days) and gave me confidence in the overall hygiene of the venue. The service was excellent too, and they were able to cater to my elderly mum's intolerance for spicy food. She loved her dish. Each one of our dishes was so tasty and well spiced, and we'll definitely be back.

This place is an OP Indian Cuisine. The interior reminds me of your family home in india 🇮🇳 Songs remind me of Punjabi Food is from all over India. Toilets are also very clean and smell fresh, 👌 The service is at your call, always around to help. Very informative and fast. Wait time for food approx 10-15mins The food teste is really good too. Exceptional bread selection.. Definitely, I'll be back!

Outstanding food. A wide selection of dishes, some more well-known staples, as well as some regional specialities that were new to us. Care taken in the preparation of every course, from the fresh sauces and chutneys with the poppadoms, right through to dessert. Very friendly and knowledgeable team too. We visited again a year later, when we were next in Notts. Everything was, once again, outstanding.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was really, really good and service excellent. As a vegetarian I was pleased to be able to choose from a good range of meat free dishes. Will definitely be returning.

(See edit below) Beautiful food served to you by wonderful and helpful staff , Priya was our waitress for the evening and she was very good and so friendly. (Edit) Our next visit in December 2024 didn't go as well. Everything started off really nicely when we were one of only two tables occupied, attentive and polite staff, we looked forward to our evening. Our starters were fabulous but the main couse was a let down. My wife had lamb rogan josh, I had chicken karaihi, both were very bland, despite this we wanted to have a look at the desert menu. We were never asked if we needed more water or drinks. We waited for at least 15 minutes after finishing the main course, expecting someone to clear our table and ask if we would like to see the desert menu. No one came. I eventually caught a waiters eye and asked for the bill. Still the table was left uncleared. We all got our coats and put them on ready to leave and the table remained uncleared. I went to pay the bill and the waitress presented the card machine asking what amount of tip I wanted to leave. I said I was sorry but felt the service we'd received didn't warrant a tip and explained why. She just said OK and gave no apology at all. It's a shame because the first visit was so nice but we won't go again.

Excellent starter and main courses. Really attentive team. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the ambience. Really good value for money. Our first time there but we will definitely come again.

I visited this restaurant for our anniversary dinner after reading positive reviews, hoping for a memorable experience. I ordered the masala dosa, which was advertised as their specialty, along with a few other non-vegetarian items. I made it clear three times to the staff that we wanted the food to be spicy and authentic in flavor. Unfortunately, me and my husband both of us were shocked by the food we received—it was bland, with no salt, no spices, and absolutely no taste. Our expectations were completely shattered, and we were left highly disappointed. I honestly can't understand how this place has received such good reviews. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Highly disappointed!!

I travelled a fair bit in south India - this meal took me right back there 10 years later. Delicious food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I was there on my own and made to feel welcome. As someone with a dairy intolerance, they had even listed that information on the menu.

Can't fault my meal here, it was great and very fresh tasting. The menu has both North and South Indian dishes, some really interesting new (to me) flavours made this very enjoyable. It was maybe a little bit pricey (1 main, rice, naan and a pint came to £30) but I'm from out of town so this may be comparable with what else is on offer. It was certainly high quality and I'd visit again.

We arrived a little early for our reservation and were greeted fondly by staff. We were immediately made to feel very welcome. Staff were polite and attentive. The food was lovely with good presentation. The menu was not the usual dishes allowing us to try something different which was a welcome change. When the team were informed it was a birthday meal for my brother and I, they came to the table with a cake and sang happy birthday, which was lovely. Thank you team Kotteram!

Genuinely one of the best Indian meals I've had. A variety of different style dishes from across India to suit anyone's taste, they were happy to meet us on your spice level (high and low!), and the staff were more than welcoming. We walked in on the day with a party of 14, and they didn't just give us a wonderful experience - they provided a birthday cake on the house! Would recommend to anyone looking for a proper quality Indian meal.

Very nice cozy restaurant with very accessible prices for very tasty food. The portions are large, so we couldn't finish it all with six people, but the atmosphere was great, the service was top notch and the food was excellent. Early tea, unknown to area popped in on off chance of a table. Absolutely fabulous service and food spot on. Had the special chilli garlic chicken. Did not disappoint.

Went here a few weeks ago - Great restaurant with delicious food, had the lamb nihari thanks to which I was inspired to make my own for the first time. Great service - Joseph instantaneously offered to replace my girlfriend’s dish as she found it too spicy for her. Definitely recommend and will be back :)

We had a weekend away in Nottingham staying at the hotel opposite. We dropped into this restaurant due to its proximity and reviews. They do a 20% off early bird as long as you are seated before 6.30pm and we took advantage of this. We were not disappointed. Firstly, the service. We were made welcome before we had even got through the door. Friendly smiling and jovial staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Secondly, the food. It was really first class. It was nothing really like your average UK curry and we had hardly heard of most of the dishes, but the staff answered our questions. It was beautifully cooked and portion sizes were good. Drinks prices are reasonable too. All in all an excellent experience and would not hesitate to go back if I am ever in Nottingham.

We have ordered food for 4 people on friday evening which included beef kizhi, porotta, thalaserry erachi curry and bamboo biriyani. Beef kizhi is just for name sake as it was porotta sandwich filled with beef. Thalaserry chicken curry felt like a normal chicken curry nothing special in it. Porotta was normal frozen which was rotten the very next day. Overall the food was below average and overpriced. We paid 88 pounds for all these items, requesting you to provide atleast good food.

This was our 2nd time and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Easily the best South Indian food in Nottingham. The Dosa's are a must try!

Wow ! Amazing food and beautiful ambience .We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and if you informed staff to bring cake you will get one with birthday songs. Because we went over weekend , the waiting time to get food was long. Staff was amazing.Never seen such beautiful elegant Menu card before.overall good experience.

I was really excited to try this restaurant with all the great reviews……but sadly we didn’t experience many positives throughout the night. We were hosting a party of ten for which we made dinner reservations for Wednesday evening. We ordered everything together; drinks, starters and the entrees. One of the guest asked how long it would take for the starters to come out and we were told ten to fifteen minutes. We got our drinks and at least 25 approaching 30 minutes later the appetizers. We weren’t too happy about the delay but we eagerly decided to dig in, hoping the food would save the mood! Very mixed reviews probably wouldn’t order or recommend the shish kebabs and mango lassi but we did enjoy the dosa, salmon tikka, chili chicken and the lamb chops! Now after the long wait for starters the dinner came about 20 minutes later in the dumbwaiter lift…..we saw our food sitting and waiting for another ten minutes so more dishes could come out. We were missing an entree so we decided to eat what we were presented first! We then ordered another three garlic naans and another entree once we saw we need more food. No problem. Again ready to dig in and enjoy our food, the first thing I heard was our guest say was her food was cold. I thought okay, maybe it wasn’t the hottest 🤔 but after trying all the food it was almost room temperature and cold. Dissatisfied we still tried to enjoy our meal but as minutes passed the food was too cold to eat. I went to speak to our waiter away from the group wanted to be respectful and see what we could do to fix the situation. Once I told him about the cold meals and the long wait he initially began to explain how restaurants work (as if I hadn’t been to one before) that appetizers come out first then the entrees and the typical wait time…..plus shortening the time we actually waited. After telling him we have experience in the industry being restauranteurs we were privy to these things, his tone changed and tried to be more understanding and respectful; instead of almost pushing the cold food off and being in shock it was served so. He said he could do a few things; get us new entree’s, (everyone was hungry and halfway into their meal and we aren’t too keen on wasting food) dessert for everyone on the house or 20% off the bill. I was grateful for the offers and took him up for the discount but the evening left a very sour taste in my mouth. Side note our two entrees and garlic naan came out pipping hot but it was little too late during the meal and to save the night :/ but we did really enjoy the kerela chicken curry and the kottaram erachi curry. The staff was smiling and kind, no qualm's there. The food wasn’t as tasty as we were expecting but the main kicker was the wait time and after receiving the entree’s they were just too cold to eat and finally the response I received after voicing our concern. We were almost embarrassed taking our guests out after such an experience. Really wished it could have been a better evening out. Don’t know if it was just a one off night and they weren’t staffed properly 🤷🏽‍♀️

It needs to be returned back to a bar . A karaoke bar. Thats why it never works as anything else. Its just meant to be at the moment it has zero atmoshete food or no food . Chambers it will never be. As chambers was legendary. .and still the memories remain of great nights out thursday to sunday. An amazing bar it was

My friend and I were around Nottingham and was looking for good malayalee restaurant. Kottaram had their anniversary discount offer as well -side+ main course 50% off which was pretty good deal. Ambience is good , staff warm and professional. We didn't have reservation but they were kind to find a table for us. Initially I was little sceptical as the place looked very high end , thought will they be able to cater to authentic flavour of Kerala food. I was actually surprised and blown away by the amazing flavours duck roast had , very soft appam. Bamboo chicken biriyani was also good- more towards Malabar style biriyani, good flavours. Would recommend to try this place for good Kerala food, PS main course took some time to get it prepared as they were making it fresh, but definitely worth the wait.

It’s OK. Meat floating in a gravy kind of way it’s ok. We went on a Wednesday night but it still needs to be better than lumps of meat in a non descriptive gravy. Disappointed. Our waiter was great but the food was a let down.

Good quality starters and curries with a Southern India flavour - great service (Ansaf)

Our table wasn't ready on arrival but the host took us straight to the bar and our drinks were paid for. When the food arrived it was distinctly different from other restaurants. Flavoursome and generous portion size. I could have eaten the lentil fritters starter all night.

Nice menu with some alternative Indian food which is nice to see. I had the lamb and it was a little fatty but overall very nice. I ordered a nan I they only bring half which I was disappointed about, but I would definitely come back again. My only complaint was that the men's toilet was a little dirty at the hand dryer.

An amazing spot for Indian food . From drinks to desserts they didn’t fail to amaze us . I tried their special cocktail, meen mulakittath and Falooda as dessert. I do not have words to express the love for those I have tried . Especially the Falooda every spoon had a bit of heaven in it . Too filling and delicious for someone like me who got a sweet tooth

Would never go again, we have travelled the world been to Kerala, food nothing like it. We spent nearly 200.00, not a problem but half way through mains we were constantly hassled about they needed the table and this continued throughout the meal. We had to ask for desert and coffee as they constantly hassled us for the table When paying we said we would not go back due to constant hassle, trying to give constructive criticism, the reply was we are not bothered we don't want you. Really..............Born and bred in Nottinggam how sad we are reduced to this

One of the best South Indian Restaurants in Nottingham. We have been here couple of times and it never fails to deliver on food and service. We went here for busy Saturday dinner service, staff here helped us from the time of booking till our dinner. The food is cooked to perfection & the flavours are incredible. I would highly recommend Kottram if you are exploring different kinds of Indian cuisine.

I want to take my time to thank you for this amazing restaurant that I had splendid evening with my partner. Tried their signature dishes Kallappam, beef roast, chicken curry, and my favourite MANGO TANDOORI PRAWNS(it's soooo delicious). Only few items in the menu were from Kerala cuisine. Iraichi curry was good. Masala dosai was good In KiLi parotta, they forgot to add the curry over the parotta. So parotta was dry in it. Pickle was good Bamboo chicken biriyani was dry. Very few small chicken breast pieces, for the price that you pay for it. Portion sizes for curries are smaller. Very small and few pieces of chicken , lamb , beef and scallops. I guess everything depends on the chef for that day

An absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. We’ve tried another very popular, excellent Indian restaurant on the same road (I won’t name it in case it distracts you from Kottaram hehe) and wanted to try a new place. I found Kottaram on Google Maps. And boy, we did NOT regret it! Food was phenomenal. We ordered the lamb bao, tandoori chicken trío and lentil doughnuts for starters. Mind blowing! And then for mains, lamb biryani, lamb nihari, chicken tikka masala and chicken saag. My mother and I were so full, we felt like we’d explode. Yet we couldn’t stop eating! My dad thoroughly enjoyed his saag and my husband was starting to sweat from the tikka masala (which was hilarious to witness). Service was absolutely wonderful as well. If you’re looking for a brilliant Indian in Nottingham, look no further than KOTTARAM!!!

Exceptional dining experience at Kottaram! The non-veg platter was divine, featuring succulent scallops, flavorful mutton chops, juicy king prawns in mango sauce, and tender chicken. The mutton curry paired perfectly with Kerala parota. The ambience was delightful, and the staff were attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend

Bamboo biryani was like eating chicken curry with plain rice.Wasn't worth the price.Starters were good but quantity was very less. Parking at NCP is very costly.

Good to see a variety of more unusual Indian dishes that you don’t find everywhere (eg some wrapped in a banana leaf). Would definitely suit vegetarians/vegans as well as meat eaters. Excellent service, very helpful staff.

The customer service was really good. The food was very tasty & very nice presentation. But the lamb chops wasn’t cooked properly. But when told the staff they replaced it immediately. Very friendly staff. Bit pricy but it’s worth it.

Fantastic banana leaf vegetarian thali for Vishu (Keralan New Year). Multiple high quality curries and pickles. Lovely presentation, homely service and taste. The highest quality I’ve seen outside of South Asia. True nostalgia. Can’t recommend enough. Already rebooked for the next special in September for Onam!

Awesome food and excellent service! Hosted a 50th birthday celebration with friends and family. Had the opportunity to taste traditional Vishu Sadya all veg food served on banana leaf. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Have had meat curries as takeaway before which are authentic and delicious. Highly recommended !

Went in for a friends 50th birthday. Food was tasty, had the traditional Vishu sadhya food served on banana leaf. Service needs improvement, staff appeared overwhelmed with the amount of trade that walked in and filled the restaurant to its full capacity. I will 100% recommend the restaurant for everyone who lives Indian food.

One of the best Kerala restaurant we’ve been to in the UK. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was simply the best. We tried Kallappam, Garlic Naan and Kerala Chicken curry. Ambiance is top notch! Kudos to the interior designer 🤪 Right under the NCP multi level car parking.
