Calcutta Club in Nottingham

One of the best I have been to, and I am a real fan of Indian food. CC is amongst a small group of favourites. Really, really good.

This is the best curry house ever, anywhere.

This was my first visit to Calcutta Club with a work group of 11 people recommended by colleagues. I dont usually have a starter but with the aromas and food coming out from the kitchen I just couldn't resist and I have to say I absolutely loved the whole meal! I chose the chilli prawn to start. It was so full of flavour it left me wanting more! My main was the lamb biryani which was the perfect amount of spice, heat and lamb tenderness👌 - absolutely delicious! We had various dishes at the table and I can safely say our whole team was so pleased with the food & service. The staff were excellent - so friendly, welcoming, helpful and tentative and they always had a smile on their faces. I wish I had taken the name of the lady who served us, she was just brilliant, especially given that we had a team member with food intolerances. I would highly recommend eating at the Calcutta Club. We will definitely be returning.

At 56yrs old and being from Luton, I’ve had a good few Indian meals in my life time. The meal that we had here, was the best I’ve ever had. My wife and son also attested to this. The staff were fantastic. Definitely be going back

We celebrated Diwali at the Calcutta Club, with a selection of food we hadn’t heard of. All 8 on our table enjoyed the evening. Service and food was excellent and the live musician added to the atmosphere.

This is our favourite restaurant in Nottingham. The staff and owners are so lovely and always remember you and have a chat. My personal favourites are masala fish to start and a chicken Madras with a garlic naan. Hold the cucumber though 🙂. I've come with friends, family many times and everybody loves it here. Recently came for Diwali and had a great time.

There is not a huge amount to say about this place. Great food, brilliant service, nice decor and worth every penny. By far the best Indian I have ever eaten in.

The food was really nice. However, the service was really slow, the table was booked for 20:15, before we got our first starter it was gone past 21:00. But the food was amazing.

I’m originally from the UK’s curry capital (Glasgow) and have lived for over a decade in the Indian subcontinent. My lamb dish at the Calcutta Club was the finest in years.

Staff were amazing, friendly and talkative. The food was absolutely stunning.

Superb restaurant. Best Indian in Nottingham by far.

We love this restaurant and all the staff. We went with my friend and her son and they now both love it too! The food is always superb, the flavours are sublime. The staff treat us so well, even though we are not true regulars they always greet us like friends; we really appreciate that. It was noisy the evening we went, but that was because it was full of happy people! I was especially delighted with the cocktail I had for 'pudding' ...it was it was better than many of the cocktails I have tried from bonafide cocktail bars in Nottingham!! If anyone asks me where to get a good Indian meal I always tell them Calcutta Club.

Great food, good service but just so loud, we found it very difficult to hear each other as the place was packed, which shows how good and popular it is but the noise of people talking just made conversation difficult.

I am staying in town on my own for work and this place was fantastic. Let's face it, eating on your own in a restaurant is weird! But the staff were awesome, made me feel super comfortable. They didn't need the table back immediately so just let me chill and they got another beer and a pudding out of me The food was great and because I ate early there was 20% off as well. Sorry to say we won't be back. Having arrived 5minutes before our booked time. To be told our table would be another 15minutes. Started the evening on the wrong foot. Two ladies came in after us and had the same. A large group came in after us "you remember me my friend we have disabled people with us. They were treated to a 5* service. Once sat down and ordered the food was wonderful. It's a shame the bar man did not offer us a drink in his ripped shirt. I actually felt I had been sat in a foot ball ground. I felt sorry for the staff who were running round over a table of 9 who did not have a booking but were made more than welcome after blagging there way in.

I enjoyed a great evening with three customers working in Nottingham. It was further emhanced by the food and atmosphere at the Calcutta Club. The food is excellent. Staff are professional and attentive. We will be back soon. Thanks to all at the Calcutta Club.

Amazing evening at the Calcutta Club tonight, thanks to a birthday gift from my brother. From the moment we walked into being seated and onwards, the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you, Suraj, for popping over to us and making sure all was ok and for sorting out Non halal meat for us. The waitress for our table was a star, absolutely lovely. You can not buy great customer service, and this place has it in abundance. Combined with delicious food, you have the makings of a perfect evening!!

We had yet another visit to our favourite restaurant The Calcutta Club. On this occasion took some friends with us. The staff as always greeted us in the usual friendly manner, they treat us like family members. The whole evening was enjoyed by us all, not only fantastic food & service but also lots of laughter with the staff. Thank you to you all for making our evening yet again very special. We are already planning another evening with you.

This was our first visit and we loved it. The food was delicious- very tender lamb and all four of us enjoyed our food. The service was excellent, and our waiter and waitress were great. We will definitely visit again! Thank you.

Neha was our waitress for the evening and the service with a smile was impeccable throughout. She was so helpful, happy and made me decide on a well deserved 5* rating. We were fortunate to get a short notice reservation here due to a cancellation and I am so glad we were able to eat here whilst in Nottingham. Located opposite the Park Plaza hotel the restaurant and it's interior are beautifully decorated and when you step inside you get that premier feel and know that you're in a high class establishment. The restaurant was packed to the rafters with customers and Christmas parties and was hive of activity as staff flitted from table to table swiftly and efficiently taking orders and delivering food. Our waitress was superb and kindly drew our attention to an earlybird offer that had escaped our notice. The menu is quite extensive with plenty to choose from, when the starters arrived the aroma of the food was mouth watering and the taste was superb. This was only surpassed by the arrival of the mains we ordered, with each dish being full of flavour and chilli heat. Overall from start to finish our visit was incredible, none of us had any complaints or issues with the food, drink, service or atmosphere. If you're in the area and you like high quality indian food, you should visit the Calcutta Club.

Absolutely outstanding. A wonderful experience from the moment that we entered the restaurant. I've lived in India and travelled there many times, enjoy English Curry Houses too but this was just on another level. Truly exceptional. The menu was very interesting though they also did a few of the 'old usuals', but the taste of everything was sublime. The service was graceful, professional, knowledgeable and discrete. We sat round the corner on the way to the washrooms BUT we sat in wonderful teak chairs which were so reminiscent of halcyon days in India. I would move to Nottingham just so this could be my local!!

It was wonderful- the food was delicious (truly delicious) across the board of dishes we chose, the staff were delighted and efficient and the atmosphere was lovely, comfortable and friendly. Couldn’t recommend highly enough and will definitely go back at the earliest opportunity!

Amazing Indian restaurant serving delicious food. Love the old world atmosphere and the traditional setting. The service also has to be mentioned. The welcome from the staff and the ongoing service received was exceptional and made a real a difference to our evening.

I know this is a big claim, but that was the best curry I’ve had in the UK! Not only that, the service was fantastic and the atmosphere complimented the food. I wish I didn’t live 200 miles away , but will most certainly return next time we come upto Nottingham.

I’ve eaten here many times because, IMO, it’s the best Nottingham has to offer. The service was impeccable from the friendly welcome, wonderful waitressing, to the handshake as we left. Best Lamb Saag I’ve ever had. Worth the drive from Derby.

We dined here for a graduation meal,it was a fantastic meal all-round with amazing service and brilliant food. All of the Foh/Boh deserve recognition for the hard work and passion they pour into their service. Management was clearly present supporting the team to deliver this impeccable experience. Thank you for the wonderful evening ! We will be back :)

One of the best if not THE best in the UK, I love this place. Always busy even on Monday nights says a lot. Warm, friendly owners, comfortable decor and the food is to die for. What a chef they have and I tried the Lamb Ghost special dish with fennel, fenugreek and mustard and wow it blew me away and I hope it makes it on to the main menu in the future! What a setup and applause to the owners for maintaining high standards. That lamb platter was also mouth watering with the finest lamb in any restaurant I've visited. A gem!

Wonderful dinner for my graduation meal, and to prove how popular this place is, our table was not ready for us when we arrived. However, this did not dampen our evening as the hosts were incredibly accommodating, the cuisine was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Great value for money and if you’re unsure what to get I’d thoroughly recommend the boatman fish curry, it’s my all time favourite!

We decided to book the Calcutta Club for a meal as were golfing at the Nottinghamshire Golfing Club over the weekend after reading the reviews ,Wow , were we not disappointed From entering the restaurant to our final exit two hours later , it was an enjoyable experience. The food and the service was 1st Class .The food was well cooked and infused with the right balance of herbs and spices. The management and staff were very helpful with any special requests .A 10/10 experience

Brilliant work lace - visited during a quick stop in Nottingham. Food was class and service was excellent, really nice people running the show. Will visit again.

Food overpriced for the very average quality and small portions e.g. £4 for steamed rice! Chicken was dry and slightly chewy. Extremely loud atmosphere, you have to (almost) shout to hear each other! Service is friendly but slow (40 mins). So many better Indian restaurants around!
