Very bad dining experience. We ordered four or five dishes in total, and personally thought the raw beef tasted pretty good. But we ordered a stone pot chicken bibimbap. After each of us tasted it, we felt that it had a very obvious sour taste and rancid taste. We called the waiter and asked if the food itself had the same taste or was stale. Could we ask the kitchen to taste it? Then the young male waiter went to the kitchen to explain the situation. Because the meal time was already past eight o'clock, there were no other customers in the store, and the environment was very quiet. We could clearly hear all the conversations between the male waiter and the chef. We clearly heard the curse words uttered by the chef, so we were extremely dissatisfied and called the waiter to argue with him about this attitude issue. Instead, the male waiter said: "We have already refunded you, and you have eaten, what else do you want?" Is this the attitude and way a waiter should have to solve problems? We also made it clear that we are not asking for a refund, but we want to know whether the food itself tastes the same or there is something wrong with it. If we don’t taste it, how do we know there is something wrong with this food? What's even more ridiculous is that after we repeatedly emphasized that we were concerned about the swearing coming from the kitchen, the waiter actually said it had nothing to do with him and asked us to go to the back kitchen to confront the people in the kitchen. Um? Later, the chef came out and explained that we thought the chef's subsequent attitude was okay and we understood it, but the waiter's attitude really made it impossible for us to continue our meal, so we chose to pay the bill and leave. Also, I was told that there was no manager in the entire restaurant who could come out to deal with the problem.

This is not korean food at all!! I went looking for Korean food that I hadn't had in months. I ate Chinese food ㅠㅜ Only the name is koearn Restaurant, the employees, etc. are not Korean. I ordered soft tofu stew and it seemed to be boiled with the red pepper oil used in Chinese food. I felt a very strong, chemical, yet unpleasant taste. My mouth tingled as if I had eaten capsaicin. Korean peppers are spicy, but they have a unique spicy taste that only Koreans know, but this is not true. The other ingredients are completely different from the original Korean ingredients, and it seems to be a simple imitation of soft tofu stew, or rather, Chinese-style tofu wonton. The rice seems to have been cooked with poor quality rice that appears to be very old and has no shine or stickiness at all, but the rice itself is weak. It would have been better if it had been Anna Nam-mi. On the way home, I got scolded because I didn't feel well. As for the atmosphere, I don't think I've seen any Koreans among the employees, and it feels like they're Chinese or Southeast Asian. I can't speak Korean at all. Is the owner Korean? I doubt it. It seemed like it took more than 10 minutes to pay for the person in front of me. I was waiting in line at the back and it took a long time, so I went back to my seat and waited. After a while, I saw that the counter was empty and went to pay. It wasn't a complicated calculation, so why did it take so long? Instead of paying the bills, we talked on the phone for a long time and didn't even look sorry. I don't think I'll ever go again. There is a large Korean restaurant nearby, but it didn't get good reviews, so I came here... but I regret it. A small bottle of soft tofu stew beer... I paid 17.5 pounds including service charge. It's a waste of money...

Bibimbap lacked flavour. Each ingredient tasted like it was just blanched and put together, and was not seasoned with salt or sesame oil or anything. Kimchi pancake was smaller than expected.

An old place (as I was told). The ambience is classic. It is not very big. You may even call it small. The food was superb, and the service very quick. The five of us (actually, four and a half) were there after 1 pm, and left comfortably to keep our appointments nearby at 2 pm. Highly recommended.

Who on earth recommended this place? Have you ever even tasted real Korean food? 1. **Flat Coke**: The Coke I ordered was completely flat, not even a hint of fizz. When I asked the server to replace it, they finally brought me a new can. Seriously, who serves Coke with zero carbonation? It tasted like sugary water that had been sitting around for ages. I made sure to come right at dinner time just to be served this lifeless excuse for a Coke? 2. **Beef Bibimbap**: The dish looked alright in the pictures, didn’t it? But the reality? A complete disaster. The “bibimbap sauce” they provide on each table is something I wouldn’t even feed to a child. It's not sweet, not salty, not spicy—hell, it even tasted a bit sour! I’ve never experienced such a horrific bibimbap sauce in my entire life. Every squeeze of that sauce was like cursing the bibimbap. It had absolutely no connection to the real thing. 3. **The Army Stew**: Here’s the real kicker—this has to be the ultimate proof that this place is run by people who have no idea what they’re doing. Fish balls, Ningbo rice cakes, and leek dumplings in an army stew? I’m lost for words. I won’t even start on the flavor because honestly, I’m too tired to complain. But could you at least try to understand how this dish is supposed to be made? If you’re running a restaurant, could you at least have a shred of decency? This abomination cost £30, and apart from a few sad pieces of pork, what in there was worth anything? Can’t even spring for some Spam? And the broth—so sour, I wondered if you’d just poured a jar of kimchi into the pot. If you’re so generous with kimchi, why not offer it as a side dish like every other Korean restaurant on the planet? I’ve been to over 80 Korean restaurants in my life, and I’ve never seen one that didn’t give out free kimchi.

Restaurant is in the basement so it was really hot as no airflow. We were sat by a grill in the back that waiter/waitresses were using to cook. First time seeing waiter/waitresses cooking as well as hosting. One of the waitresses dropped tongs on the floor for a good minute before she realised and put it back by the grill. It was then used to flip the pork belly right after. What shocked me is the fact there were customers watching her. The food we ordered was nice although it took a while to come considering it was to cook on our table anyway. They need to be more attentive to their customers. Overall it was alright for a small restaurant.

Poor customer service. Prioritise delivery orders. I was there for 2.5 hours in total. Starter came wrong and I was told it was what I ordered and it was taken back and forth from my table to kitchen three times as she tried to argue that it was what I ordered but she never repeated my order back to me. Correct thing came (short ribs) and it was tough and dry and chewy. Everything accompanied by some budget romaine lettuce that was wilted. Main beef bulgogi was just sweet and over cooked. Table across from us complained that theirs was burnt before ours came. Nobody asked if the food was ok and we had to do the ungodly hand wave to get a waiters attention to get some water or clear the plates. No rice or accompaniment with set banquet. Went to pay the bill and service charge was added for party of two (despite menu saying it is added on for 8 or more). Additional 80p was undisclosed and we had to ask what it was for. Small portions, poor service, wobbly table, bad quality of food. Used to be an absolute gem but has gone absolutely down hill.

They don’t give you garlic or chilli, only 4 leaves of lettuce 🥬 … Also the rice doesn’t suit my taste. I prefer sticky soft rice but their rice isn’t this type. Important to note: When choosing your drink, don’t go with their coke! It is very light taste… not sure if they add water in it or the coke has been their for too long and become not fizzy anymore😓😓

I ordered the lunch deal with beef bimbimbap and meat dumplings. It was a very filling lunch, the beef was nicely marinated and mixed in well with all the vegetable, you can add your preferred amount of sauce too. It also had some pickles in the bimbimbap, which is very different but very refreshing. It would have been nice to have more of the spinach and less of the lettuce.

Koreana Restaurant in Manchester offers a mixed experience, blending affordability with culinary inconsistencies. While their lunchtime business deal presents an attractive offer, certain aspects of the dining experience leave much to be desired. One of the highlights of Koreana Restaurant is their lunchtime business deal, which provides good value for money. The option to choose either a main dish with a drink or a starter is a convenient choice for those looking for a quick and affordable meal during the workday. However, despite the enticing deal, the execution of certain dishes falls short. In particular, the dolsot bibimbap, a staple of Korean cuisine, missed the mark in terms of taste and authenticity. It's surprising to encounter such a misstep, as dolsot bibimbap is typically a fail-safe dish. The lackluster flavors and improper preparation detracted from the overall dining experience. Another issue worth noting is the inadequacy in service. There seemed to be a shortage of staff available to attend to diners, resulting in longer wait times and less attentive service. Additionally, the dim lighting within the restaurant, exacerbated by its basement location, created a somewhat gloomy atmosphere that detracted from the overall dining ambiance. Despite these shortcomings, Koreana Restaurant does show promise, particularly with its competitive pricing and convenient lunch deals. With some improvements in food quality and service, it has the potential to become a go-to spot for affordable Korean cuisine in Manchester.

This is a small, independent restaurant. The clientele are mostly Asia, which is a good sign for an Asia restaurant! I found the service was great and the food was excellent. The food had a decent portion and they didn't skimp on the meat either. As the queue from about 6pm (Saturday evening) was always pretty long it is best to book. Having visited the a few of the numerous Korean restaurants in New Malden (South London), or Little Korea as some call it, I really think Manchester has its own little gem in this restaurant. I would like to thank the Korean lady (manager/owner) for her service, as my wife had a number of questions about the food and drinks which she happily dealt with.

-Seafood in the soup is so stale, tastes like boil water with paprika and zombie seafood, also too fishy -The beef rib is not newly cooked as ordered, with boiling sauce but still cold inside the meat, tastes weird and worrying; some pieces are just as hard as stone, like a piece of wood burning for a week -Can’t find any kimchi in the kimchi pancake, maybe one or two leaf for the whole pancake? -Better order veg bibimbap cause the meat tastes really stale and meaty, we ordered chicken but I believe the beef is similarly terrible, just enjoy the sauce which never goes wrong -The service and atmosphere is good anyway, but the cooking is so perfunctory, done like the way they cooked

Not gunna lie, it’s the worst Korean restaurant I have ever had. The seafood soup tasted like you overcooked all the ingredients and put them all together. I must of gone to the wrong restaurant because the reviews are fantastic. It must of been an off day when I went. We were running late due to the traffic in Manchester town centre so rang to let them know and they said it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived at about 7-30 so my partner had already been given our table as I went to park the car. So I arrived at the table and asked my partner if she had ordered drinks. No she replied. We ten Sat there for at leased 15 mins at this point my partner had tried to get someone's attention but with no look. As I am sat looking around I have noticed two different couples been shown to a table. Still no drinks. I watched both tables get there order in before ours. Drinks come 8pm. But no Food order. Then I watch the other couples food come to the table. Waiter came over and then told us the banquets menu was not on. Another Lady comes over and takes our order. 45 mins now. so I ordered Ribs as starter, Wings as middle, pork as main. Much time later the starters came out. As this was happening the couple who came in before have now eaten paid and left. The other couple are about to do the same and we have just got our starters. The Main came out at about 9:15 it wasn't anything special. We turned down the deserts because of time we had to travel back to Bolton. By this time I had enough. I watched another table of 4 come in eat and pay within 45mins. The service was on a scale I've never witnessed before. I can only put it down to the fact we were late. We left at around 9:30 and I have to say the food was average. Maybe we got the wrong things. The menu is way to small to read and over complicated and the service was shocking. Just a tip. The menu need explaining to people and ask the customer want they like. I don't think I will be returning.

Was very excited to be trying this Restraunt following a visit to HOME. I had not tried Korean food before so let’s start there. My partner had a rice dish and I had a beef stew. My wife’s dish was vibrant with rice veg and egg and she loved it. My dish was tender beef in a beef stock with glass noodles. It had no other flavour or spice that I detected and was therefore not to my taste (even with the help of a chilli sauce) . I found the kimchi again a bit bland. I think the food is well cooked so that is not my issue. The service was terrible: innatentive, clearing my partner fihes when I hadn’t finished then not clearing mine away at all. We had to ask for water on multiple occasions. We were not offered coffee or desert and we had to get up and ask for the bill twice or we’d still be in there. It was a shame give my excitement to go but such is life. I’m not giving up on Korean food but I will not go back here!

Fantastic Food, great service, shame the draught lager isn't available. Been going to this restaurant for a long time and will continue but sort the draught beer out. Asahi isn't a great substitute and the Korean bottled I found too sweet.

Went with friends and the food was superb. Place was packed which is always a good sign. Ordered a number of different meals and drinks. The food was excellent and the beer was cheap by restaurant standards. For an authentic Korean meal this is a must visit place

Been here several times for lunch, quality never dops. Dumplings hot and tasty, main dishes vary and ample. One of my favourites

그나마 맨체스터에서 한국식 먹고 싶으면 한번쯤 가볼만 합니다 위치도 나쁘지 않고 종업원들도 친절한편이고 나름 맛도 무난합니다 가격은 싸다고 할수는 없음

Can’t believe how this place has kept its authenticity. Not been in over 10 years - had the business lunch, great value for money. Also do takeout which seemed very popular given the size of the queue Highly recommend

We went to Koreana for traditional coreean food and were not disappointed. The food was good and service very fast. They also have traditional beverages from Corea. Overall a nice experience.

Introduced my wife to the Korean kitchen with a Korean barbecue at Koreana. For a first time experience of Korean food this was a total success. For me it was like going back to my visits to Seoul. Excellent food, service and atmosphere.

Went here for lunch for my youngest sons birthday. Wasn’t sure what to expect as never had Korean food before. So glad we chose this place, the food was fantastic and what an experience! We all had the spare ribs to start and the pork dumplings, can honestly say they were the best ribs we have ever had. Main course we all had the Korean barbecue, it was amazing and such a lovely and different way to eat. Will definitely go back again.

Was craving Korean BBQ last night and was delighted to find this absolute gem so close to the city centre! As it was quite a last minute decision to go out for dinner, we didn't have a booking - but the staff there were more than happy to seat us! We opted for the Korean BBQ set menu (beef and chicken), having chosen the Kimchee pancakes and the Prawn Spring Rolls as our sharer dishes. 100% happy with the meal - we were definitely in a little food coma by the end of the meal! Staff there were very polite and attentive. Paid £14.50 per person, which I 150% think was worth it! Will definitely be visiting Koreana again with some more friends in the not-too-distant future!

we return almost annually to this place and we do it for a reason - the food and drink. not disappointed thus year - lovely water (Dan) explained our options and gave the food allergy to the chef to ensure my partner was good with the tasting menu. sake was great and the food amazing. Only thing was it was too much - dessert was just a step too far!!! lol.
