Al-Madina in Manchester

Starting with disappointingly the butter chicken was not at all good. It doesn’t even taste like butter chicken. Rogan josh we had was ok. When we went restaurant was too busy and was hard to find dine in space.

Disappointing Experience I had high hopes for Al Madina Restaurant in Manchester, but unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming. There was no spice or flavor at all—it tasted more like plain boiled chicken than anything seasoned or cooked with care. It lacked the rich, aromatic flavors you’d expect from a place like this. My go to curry house in Manchester cannot fault it. So cheap and the food is much better than a restaurant.

Food was good but not insanely good. Its a small place and nothing fancy. But overall it was okay. We had haleem and chicken dopyaza. Haleem was okay, dopyaza was very nice.

Staff is rude Customer service is very bad

The food is amazing, but the staff doesn’t seem to understand how to build customer relationships. As a regular who goes there every week often bringing 4-5 people with me felt really upset during my last visit. While the restaurant is a bit expensive, I still choose to dine there regularly. However, last time, they charged me £2 for a small portion of chillies, which they’d always given me as a complimentary gesture before. It wasn’t even a full salad (I know they charge for salads), but if they were going to charge for the chillies, they could have at least informed me beforehand. Even during the bill payment, I tried chatting with the owner/ manager, but he seemed more focused on justifying the £2 charge than acknowledging my loyalty as a regular customer. The £2 itself isn’t significant not for me or the restaurant but the gesture (or lack of it) made me feel like the connection I once had with this place has faded. After consistently supporting them, spending £20-£40 each visit, I’d expect a little more appreciation. Now, I’m reconsidering whether I want to return.

THE go-to authentic South Asian place on Wilmslow road and in Manchester, if you’re a local you know. Best Lamb Biryani I’ve ever had 11/10, and the curries a straight 10, food straight from the streets of Pakistan, quick service no matter how busy, these guys don’t mess around, also takes card

Visited 12 noon on a weekday. Friendly and helpful staff. Didn't have to wait long for food. Not very busy place at this time. Sat inside. Very nice decor. The food was spicy but tasted great. Recommended.

Authentic Pakistani dishes actually very good, the lamb karahi was top however in mixed grill platter lamb chops were bit let down but rest of the platter was delicious, Naan was tasty good portion size made it worth the money IT WAS QUALITY FOOD FOR LESS

The owner can see that I am waiting at the till decides to completely ignore me and assists the next customer who rightly informs the bearded owner that I am first in line. No apology given so I decided to take my custom elsewhere, will not come back.

The food is what you go for. The on the bone karahi is amazing. I don't use that world often but it's very relevant here. Also got the seekh kebabs which were good. Some people swear by the haleem but never tried.

This restaurant has gave me food poisoning. Absolutely disgusting. Would never ever go back or recommend to anyone.

What a place to have tasty food. Ordered traditional chicken karahi with garlic naan. Just remember the naans are quite big so don’t order too many.

Their Madras chicken and garlic naan is my all time favourite. The curry is spicy for natives though. They serve all curries with chutneys and fresh salad. The portions are large and the pricing is very economical compared to other curry houses around. Another must try is their Nalli nihari. The staff is friendly and accommodating always.Usually crowded over weekends, expect some waiting time as the place is small. The flavours are close to an authentic dhaba style cooking, their gravies are spot on. The lamb karahi is very delicious, just love the gravy they do. My go to with the curry is their fresh garlic naan. Wouldn't suggest the straters, as they ain't the best in town. But everything else is great!

Best place on Wilmslow Road for curry, kebabs and biryani also the fish is great. It may be small but the food makes up for it.

Best curry place on wilmslow road.

Very cheap interior design and service is even cheaper - waiters don’t even care your sat down waiting for them to come take the order. Greasy tables and old chairs - the chicken tikka curry was so tasteless and literally made me want to throw up - lamb chops dry as anything , will definitely not visit again.

Worstttttt experience of my life..I got job after 3 months I took my friend there to give a treat from my hard earned money,I ordered achari chicken and biryani. The worst ever biryani with some boneless small pieces of chicken how they can call it biryani I am just wondering!! In small raita i found a male hair and when I complained a guy there about it,he ignored me like he didn't even hear me!!! And about achari chicken, I don't have words to explain..total waste of money..So disappointed!! Please don't waste people hard-earned or change your name from Al-madina to something else!!please be honest!!

Best curry house on the curry mile, been going for over 10 years. Normally get lamb chops, Karahi (chicken or lamb but some would say lamb is better) and fresh roti. Special occasions call for a nihari on top. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Order curry's and biryani curry's had no salt or chilli's in. Nò taste the purchans were small its a take away bit restaurant prices 15 pound so expensive sad biryani was bad.you don't call that a biryani...

One of the best curries I’ve had for a while. Lamb Karahi was authentic and just tasted amazing. They do decent french fries, which isn’t greasy. Everything looked clean and fresh. Food was served in a timely manner even whilst they were busy. I can’t wait to visit again

Change chef who can cook Pakistani food and taste what original Pakistani people touch heart , very good staff , they take ur comments very positive, reduce the spice in the food and increases the portion size , they feed Pakistani, we don’t eat less quantity and bad taste .Specially if u r from Lahore

This place serves the most authentic curry in Rusholm. It isn't posh or fancy but if you want the real deal, this is the place.

I ordered from Deliveroo and it’s amazing - it was my first time and we had somosa chaat, poppdoms, lamb nihari, veg Bhuna, chickpeas, rice, chips and Nan and it was beautiful. The portions, the taste, the service and I will be ordering again. Thank you so much it was really lovely

A smaller, and busy, restaurant so you might wait a couple of minutes, but it is worth it. I just had an old school lamb on the bone and it was well prepared. The meat just falls off and are so tender! Staff is busy and there is an old screaming guy in the kitchen 😀 Not at cozy place, so more a, inn and out ish. Need to come back to try more stuff!

Tried their biryani the worst ever biryani in my life was wondering it was plauo or biryani and the portion for 9 pounds ahhhhh God that was really small portion And wasn’t tasting like biryani wasn’t expecting that And 2nd thing there were 2 hairs in there chatni the red one when i told that to waiter he even didn’t bother and instead he smiled i was like Th bro tell your manager but nahhh he ignored it

I was in Manchester for work and was really craving a Biryani, I had visited Al-Madina and the gentleman who served me was very efficient and polite. He asked me how spicy I would like my chicken biryani and made it according to how I would like it. It tasted delicious and will definitely be returning whenever I visit Manchester.

Excellent food. The fish karahi and chana chicken curry was absolutely amazing. As a matter of fact, some of the best desi food i've ever had. Clean restrooms and very kind service.

Don’t come here expecting BIR tikka masala this is AUTHENTIC ASIAN FOOD. The Karahis are superb, the star of the show for me is the Nihari. You will not find a curry of such depth and complexity of flavour in the rest of Manchester. Al Madina is simply superb.

Great place. Stood the test of time and service is restaurant quality if not better. Really attentive and the food is excellent. Had the large sikh kebab. Naan is fresh z great taste to the kebab as well. Only quibble is that the kebabs could be slightly larger. Note, the sauce is very spicy Definitely can't wait to go again

Worst Nihari I have ever had! Ordered omelette, parathas, nihari and naan. Paratha and naan were but omelette had extra salt and spice to it and Nihari was totally bland. Customer service is okayish. Do not order Nihari here!!

Very spicy grill and half raw can’t chew. Lamb karahi full of onion. (Sweet taste). Never recommend to anyone.

Food is good but staff need more training about serving and dealing with customers

Food was average, chana chicken,small pieces of bone in the dish which was quite disturbing. This was my first time , service was good and atmosphere was good,clean and tidy.

Food was good & person who took order was very friendly. Had mixed grill which was good lamb tikka was little chewy but other than that all food was good.

Can't fault this place. Was very busy, but clean inside. Service is fast, very well priced and good size portions. The chicken balti was a bit sweet for my liking but that's down to personal preference. The chicken tikka starter is very good, as is the chicken pakora. Would certainly go again if in the area.

Extra spicy seekh kebab (not fresh), good lamb biryani, average haleem and brain masala. Superb kulcha naan and good roti. Might not return.

Decided to come and check this place out since it had good reviews. Small but busy place. Mix grill was ok but had to rush eating it as it got cold very quickly. The rice was bland and was quite salty. Luckily I was around the area but if I had to travel far to get here I would be very disappointed.

Almadina is my favorite Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Manchester - by far! The food here is excellent. I would especially recommend lamb biryani, chicken butter masala, kima, and garlic naan. This is one of only a handful of restaurants in manchester that I keep coming back, despite locating a bit far from where I stay. Highly highly recommended.

As always traditional beautiful flavoursome Pakistani food. Grilled meat was tender and full of flavour and the chana masala was amazing with a chicken tikka Biryani to enjoy aswell it was the perfect Sunday dinner.

Been to thousands of restaurants around the world and this is one of the best, if not the best one I have been to in terms of food quality and taste. Seekh kebabs, lamb and chicken karahi are on another level. Clean salad and excellent service as always. I’m a regular and their food is always consistently excellent.

I enjoyed my experience. Wonderful buffet, excellent service. Particularly enjoyed the great service of the welcome staff especially Sneh; the wonderful lady who waited my table. She was professional and yet filled with good nature and humor. Highly recommend, and hope you enjoy your experience as I have.
