Koolba in Glasgow City

Wonderful place to eat. We attended the restaurant yesterday for the first time. Very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was very clean and tidy with plenty seats. Great looking restaurant. The food was just amazing. Honestly the very best Indian food we have ever had. Can't wait to return. The server was a credit to the restaurant. So Best food and service = very happy customers. Thank you.

I’ve been a regular to Koolba for over 15 years. I adore the food, but even more I love how well every staff member takes care of their customers. A really lovely little gem in the Merchant City that I will never tire of recommending!

The juiciest veg kebabs I've tasted. Huge portions, and very reasonable prices for lunch combo.

Return visit in a good few years and unfortunately felt its gone down hill slightly. The staff were accommodating when we had to turn up late but the dining experience for an Indian eatery wasn't up there with others in the city unfortunately.

Brilliant tasting meze platter for 2 with naan bread The biriyani meal was good too! So was the kebab This place has Indian/persian menu. Neat decor. Good seating Highly recommended!

Had a lovely meal here walking in off the street on Saturday with no booking before a gig. We had Saag Paneer, chicken biryani and some mushroom rice. Food was perfect, staff were lovely, very attentive and well-mannered. Lovely decor too. Will definitely be back :)

Celebrated our 20th year at Koolba and once again it was amazing. Naz, sadonah and the team are second to none and the food is so fresh and tasty, but dont take my word for it, get along and find out for yourselves. Heres to the next 20years guys. Keep up the excellent work.

The service was slow with starters taking around 30-40 minutes to arrive, with mains taking around another 30 minutes after starters. In total, we were there for 2 hours and that was us rushing out at the end. With the food itself; portion sizes were small, flavour was good but there's certainly better tasting food at other nearby restaurants.

This was our first time trying here and we were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant is lovely and the food is excellent. We had starters and a main each. Four of us all said how amazing the food was. Only real downside was the toilet although clean could be nicer.

Belated St.Valentine's dinner to arranged by my husband. He never books and Saturday night was busy in Glasgow. After trying a number of places , we came upon Koolba. They could give us a table with no booking. Hallelujah. Drinks order was promptly taken. Time to review the menu. Good selection of curries available abd from you could see of neighbouring tables, it all looked good. Then I turned the menu over to see the kebab section. One kofta and one chicken kebab ordered. We were warned of 15 minute wait time. It was worth the wait. We had ordered a mushroom rice and garlic naan too. It was amazing. The salad accompanying the kebab was fresh and tasted wonderful. To enhance the meal a bottle of rojca was opened abd was divine. The place filled up and the staff were constantly setting up tables after diners left. We were not felt to be rushed and the staff checked in on us regularly. Definitely we will be back, glad we hadn't been organised and had a booking somewhere else.

Absolutely fantastic food We were recommended this place by a friend who lives in Glasgow and it is superb We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday but they gave us a table and then the service and food was fantastic

This was our second visit here and although the first time was fantastic, our second time was even better. The service was fabulous and the food amazing. We had a selection of starters and main courses which we thought we'd share and every mouthful was better than the last. The attentive staff were so professional and so very gracious with nothing any trouble at all. We were really impressed by everything and will definitely be back. ps. It's worth striking up a conversation as they can tell a funny story or two especially "The Gaffer". Thank you so much everyone.

This restaurant is our favourite place to eat. Outstanding food as always, friendly, attentive staff. It was my husband’s 50th birthday and staff went above and beyond by surprising him with a slice of chocolate cake and singing Happy Birthday. We recommend if you have never been to this restaurant you must try it. You won’t be disappointed. Food is freshly cooked, always piping hot and so tasty. It’s the best there is.

Visited last night again. Had poppadoms with dips as starters,perfect. Then had chicken tikka Ceylon but I asked for it to be a little hotter. Was perfect. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be back

Another great night at the Koolba. The food is excellent as is the service. I am a regular customer and Sadhana and staff are excellent in looking after the customers. Certainly a must visit restaurant in Glasgow.

The food was AMAZING!!! We came from Chile for 2 days to Glasgow and everything was really good. Congratulations to the chef and staff. This place is a MUST!

Great Indian food and service located in the Merchant city.

First visit from Edinburgh for pre-theatre menu and OMG as a curry lover it absolutely excelled in so many ways! Choice, boiling hot (heat not taste), huge portions, and amazing taste! Can't wait to return! Staff were a delight, especially Nizam, whom I booked with. Loved the booth, too!

🌶️ Short version: fantastic food that I can't wait to go back to have more of! Longer version: I've been fortunate enough to go to Koolba for lunch twice, and both times I was wowed by the variety and quality of dishes available. You could eat here for a week and not have to eat the same thing twice! If you stop by (and you should) I'd strongly recommend trying the Mirza Ghassemi as a starter 😋

Absolutely delicious lunch today at Koolba, our first time dining there. Food was sublime, you could tell it was all freshly prepared & so tasty. We had the express lunch, it was such good value & obviously quality ingredients. The staff were so friendly & attentive too.

Myself, brother and sister visited the Koolba this evening (29.12.23). We have been a few times before and would always choose to come here for Indian food. The food is freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and VERY tasty. The staff always serve to our requirements. Staff are outstanding: polite, helpful, friendly, accommodating and hardworking. The ambience and atmosphere is warm, welcoming and relaxing. It was yet again, another successful visit for us and we will be going back again and again!

A great restaurant we found casually while strolling in merchant city. Probably among the best Indian food I ever had; staff was always present and ready to help. The unique colourful tapestries adorning the walls were a pleasure to admire while tasting our excellent dinner. A restaurant me and my partner will indeed visit again.

First visit and won’t be last.. Loved it from start to finish.. Manager and rest of the staff were so friendly and welcoming,they couldn’t have done more for us.. Each one of us in our group agreed that this the best Indian we had.

We ordered 2 lamb dishes but when the food was presented one of the dishes was beef. The young waiter was fantastic but the female I took to be the manager was pretty unfriendly. The manager definitely needs to learn some manners or they will lose customers.

Very nice meal. Amazing waiter. But the manager was so rude, it did spoilt the whole night. The bill came up and we divided by 4 (included tip). One of our friend couldn't remember her pin so she lowered her part to £100 while one...

It wasn't what I expected it to be

Was good, but the staff made me and my friend feel a bit uncomfortable by slowly walking past our table every 5 seconds and looking at our food and stuff. I know they were just trying to be helpful if they were needed, although it got a bit distracting and made us feel a bit awkward. Good food though and great authentic atmosphere!

Maybe our 4th time here. Superb again. Atmosphere and staff are top notch. Had fish pakora and salmon curry. Very generous portion. Superb flavours. Totally recommend. Thanks again.

Food is very good but disproportionately priced. Service was extremely slow, an hour wait for mains. When challenged on the poor and dour service the manager was verging on aggressive, dismissive and rejected any criticism. This is the worst customer service we have experienced since moving to Glasgow earlier in the year We will not be back.

Lovely menu with most dishes gluten free. Very amiable and attentive staff. We went on Saturday prior to a matinee at the Tron Theatre so had the pre-theatre menu which is very reasonable. Music is played at a suitable volume to allow you to chat without having to raise your voice! Ideal location for the theatre too.

Had a friend come to to visit me in Glasgow. He has an extreme nut allergy so he was reticent about dining in an Indian restaurant. Discussed our issue with the manager and he could not be more helpful or reassuring. The two curries, nan...

Appetizers good, service is friendly. Sadly enough our main course was partly good, some meat (chicken and lamb) were very dry. Staff asks if all is good and when you mention half the food is dry there’s no reaction. Seems standard as from a different staff member we got the same question, same reply from us, and no reaction or action whatsoever. Disappointing. I wouldn’t visit KoolBa again…

One of our favourite restaurants in Glasgow, however the drink prices are ridiculous and the upwelling was an issue. £6.95 for a bottle of beer and nearly £9 for a 175ml of white wine, together with £8 for poppadum and 3 pickles was almost 50% of the meal cost. Would make me hesitant to return.

Unfortunately I contracted food poisoning after my visit to this restaurant. While one can never be 100% certain on where they contract food poisoning from, given the test results, timing of the onset of symptoms and my lengthy discussion with my GP, it’s near on impossible that it could have come from anywhere else. To make matters worse, the manager is extremely rude, ignored several emails, the female member of staff hung up the phone up on me, their overall attitude to what I tried to make a reasonable discussion has been appalling. I lost a week in bed with stomach pain so severe I had to be prescribed antispasmodic medication. It’s now been 2 weeks and I’m still not feeling that great.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends. Food was delicious. Staff attentive, professional and friendly. Although we visited at a quieter time of day the atmosphere was very pleasant. We all had a lovely time and a good catch up. We will definitely go again.

KoolBaa serves some tasty food. We had a few authentic Indian dishes and those were very nice. Rogan Josh served by KolBa is outstanding. The customer service is also another highlight and the restaurant was not that crowded when we visited. We didn't reserve a seat before visiting the resto but I always recommend you to reserve a seat and go because it can get crowded on the weekends.

Fabulous restaurant with excellent choice of dishes at reasonable cost. Food itself is excellent, with good choices for starters as well as main courses. Tonight for mains we had the Chicken Tikka meal, and Sea Bass Kerelan Garlic Chilli. Proved to be excellent choices. Staff were very friendly and helpful in providing information on menus. They actually take time to interact with customers, and a particular thank you to Sadhana and Adonai for looking after us and making our dining experience special. There is a nice atmosphere in this restaurant and it is well worth a visit. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back ……soon!

First time visiting this restaurant food was amazing The tandoori starter for 4 person is a must try and the Kerelan Garlic Chilli Chicken Tikka was delicious. If you’re looking for good Indian food this place is a must please give it a try

We often like to visit Koolba whenever we are in Glasgow. The food , atmosphere and staff all make the place the absolute best in Glasgow.

Extremely rude and unwelcoming staff member ruined visit, we almost walked out of what was a near empty restaurant by her attitude as we entered with a pram. She appeared to be in charge as the other staff member was actually very polite. Food is average. Peshwari naan was no good at all. Only went here as the place nearby had too many steps.

Great place. The staff are all friendly and always getting you drinks etc unlike other places where you have to chase after them. The food is excellent and the prices are all very fair

As far as authentic cuisine goes, this was amazing. Flavours were fresh, exciting and far from a standard Indian style restaurant. Service was fantastic and accommodating. Would return in a heart beat and definitely a recommendation from a curry lover.
