Koolba in Glasgow City

Back to enjoy one of my absolute favourite Indian restaurants. A must.

We dropped in for a quick drink prior to a concert in city halls. Staff were welcoming and accommodating and agreed to hold our drinks to come back when the concert very quickly got ushered in. We couldn’t believe that a member of staff waited for us coming out to ensure we got the drinks we paid for ( concert ran really late Kelly Jones) and past closing time for the restaurant. This kindness and generosity blow us away! We returned tonight with our family and had one of the best meals in the city centre we’ve ever had. Food was on point and really fresh .. great value and a lovely experience in a family run establishment. Can’t recommend this gorgeous wee restaurant enough! 10/10

Last night was my second visit to Koolba this month. As always food was exceptional and lovely friendly staff. Garlic and coriander nan bread is the best you will ever eat. Five stars plus.

Visited on a rainy Friday night after work. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet but the food was delicious and service excellent.

This restaurant is in a convenient central location in Glasgow city centre. We met friends and had a lovely meal from the lunch menu in comfortable surroundings. It was the best chicken pakora we've had in years. The main meals were delicious with plenty to eat. My tikka kebab was particularly tasty. The house wine was really good and reasonably priced. Lovely helpful staff.

Been going here for years with my family and decided to go last night with my girlfriend. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. The lamb rogan josh is personally one of the best I’ve tasted will definitely be back again 😊

10/10 service and 10/10 food. Clean restaurant, quick service and fresh food! Cannot recommend highly enough. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Indian and Persian restaurant ,, HALAL.. the food is very tasty we tried both cuisine and both are delicious, my son ordered butter chicken with rice and the other one ordered jojeh kebab with nan bread. The staff are nice

Best food you will ever taste! There's only one place we ever go for our indian food and it's here. we have never been disappointed. We have tried other places and they are not a patch on Koolba. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. If you haven't tried it, you haven't lived! go now!

Lovely place for a group booking, The food is good, the interior is lovely, it’s in merchant city so good location, reasonably priced

The lunch menu is a good deal. Good choice of Indian and Persian dishes. The chicken kebab was really juicy. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated.

We came to the restaurant because of its high rating. The food looks good but doesn’t taste so. The portions were too small compared to its price. The music was quite loud and the staff were friendly

We went out for a works meet up and meal, the staff were attentive, courteous and professional, the service was superb for such a group, the food was superb, every person in the group was talking about it for the rest of the night.....great night was had by all.

I used a Itison voucher claiming the £25 lunch for 2 was discounted by 50%. I t wasn’t. Lunch is £15 for 2 courses and the itison menu is a restricted version. The pakora was alright. The humus seemed like it was from a supermarket rather than homemade. The chicken bhoona was alright but very light on the chilli. The Irani chicken kebab was OK but still rather light on the seasoning. Itison has some good deals. This one is not a deal and the food is nothing special. There are many better restaurants doing this type of food much better.

Chicken kebab was perfectly coooked. Garlic & coriander naan fresh. Attentive staff. A short FEW BLOCKS away from AC Hotel on George Street. Side salad was ok but a few pieces of the lettuce in the salad were “iffy”. I put the Yoghurt based Dressing on the chciken-yum.

We have had many a curry. Just been to London eaten in a 1 * Michelin indian restaurant and can quite honestly say the food in Koolba Glasgow in my opinion deserves to be 2* Michelin. The chicken tikka masala is my favourite. It is the curry of dreams so many layers of flavour.LOVE IT.!!!!!!!

I arrived jet-lagged and hungry and wandered out of the hotel to find dinner to kickstart my visit. Koolba was just the meal I needed. I had their special, lamb shank rogan josh with saffron rice--the lamb was so melt in your mouth tender and great balance of flavor with the spices in the Rogan Josh, lots of flavor from traditional spices but not hot, and served with saffron rice. Lamb Rogan Josh is one of my favorite Indian curries back home, and the same, only so much better with the lamb shank! Wow! The mango lassi was cool, mellow and not too sweet. The portions were also generous! I will admit, I ate leftovers for lunch the next day and it was so delicious! I'm certain people in the hotel were jealous! I'm certain to go back. They were so friendly and helpful. I had takeout, and will go back to eat in the dining room. I look airy and comfortable and on a great walking road with tables out front for summer!

Absolutely fantastic curry I have eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants over the years but this is among the best a must try you will not be disappointed !!!

Flavoursome food , the freshest Pakora made to order and they do the best Garlic chilli chicken in town. I have visited numerous Indian restaurants in Glasgow, and this outshines all the others! Friendly staff that go above and beyond to please and make you have the most unique experience.

An amazing selection of dishes. Some traditional and favourites. The staff are fantastic, the atmosphere and setting is amazing and of course the food and drink is brilliant.

I had a fantastic birthday meal here last night with family. The food is always beautiful as is the decor. All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming and offer perfect service. They even sang happy birthday to me which was so sweet of them. Highly recommend! 😊

Lovely restaurant, really good food, nice cocktails and the prices were great. Was in for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon, the place was pretty quiet. The food was very tasty from the set menu, we all got a cocktail to start, a two course meal, a bottle of wine for the table and a very large beer. The bill for 5 of us was under £160, which is pretty terrific.

Great ambience, styling is stylish and combines modern interiors with the traditional. The food and the staff are top! We haven't eaten so well in a long time!! 100% recommendation!! 🤩🤩🤩

As usual, I and Mrs. decided to go here for some dinner, first time! Everything was perfect, including service from staff. The only thing we personally didn't like was the table we got in the as it was corner and a little tight. Stared off with poppadoms and chutneys. Excellent bite-size starter for two. For Mains, we had the Chicken Tikka Punjabi with some cheese Nan's and just a side of Masala Chips. Given how busy it was, we were seated and served quite quickly. Really enjoyed the whole experience and ambience of Koolba. Pricing was decent approximately £20-30 person. Obviously, this will differ depending on what you order. It is located in Glasgow City Centre. Great place to go after some shopping, and we had a lovely night out... Again

Wonderful place to eat. We attended the restaurant yesterday for the first time. Very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was very clean and tidy with plenty seats. Great looking restaurant. The food was just amazing. Honestly the very best Indian food we have ever had. Can't wait to return. The server was a credit to the restaurant. So Best food and service = very happy customers. I’ve been a regular to Koolba for over 15 years. I adore the food, but even more I love how well every staff member takes care of their customers. A really lovely little gem in the Merchant City that I will never tire of recommending!

The juiciest veg kebabs I've tasted. Huge portions, and very reasonable prices for lunch combo.

Return visit in a good few years and unfortunately felt its gone down hill slightly. The staff were accommodating when we had to turn up late but the dining experience for an Indian eatery wasn't up there with others in the city unfortunately.

Brilliant tasting meze platter for 2 with naan bread The biriyani meal was good too! So was the kebab This place has Indian/persian menu. Neat decor. Good seating Highly recommended!

Had a lovely meal here walking in off the street on Saturday with no booking before a gig. We had Saag Paneer, chicken biryani and some mushroom rice. Food was perfect, staff were lovely, very attentive and well-mannered. Lovely decor too. Will definitely be back :)

Celebrated our 20th year at Koolba and once again it was amazing. Naz, sadonah and the team are second to none and the food is so fresh and tasty, but dont take my word for it, get along and find out for yourselves. Heres to the next 20years guys. Keep up the excellent work.

The service was slow with starters taking around 30-40 minutes to arrive, with mains taking around another 30 minutes after starters. In total, we were there for 2 hours and that was us rushing out at the end. With the food itself; portion sizes were small, flavour was good but there's certainly better tasting food at other nearby restaurants.

This was our first time trying here and we were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant is lovely and the food is excellent. We had starters and a main each. Four of us all said how amazing the food was. Only real downside was the toilet although clean could be nicer.

Absolutely fantastic food We were recommended this place by a friend who lives in Glasgow and it is superb We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday but they gave us a table and then the service and food was fantastic

Belated St.Valentine's dinner to arranged by my husband. He never books and Saturday night was busy in Glasgow. After trying a number of places , we came upon Koolba. They could give us a table with no booking. Hallelujah. Drinks order was promptly taken. Time to review the menu. Good selection of curries available abd from you could see of neighbouring tables, it all looked good. Then I turned the menu over to see the kebab section. One kofta and one chicken kebab ordered. We were warned of 15 minute wait time. It was worth the wait. We had ordered a mushroom rice and garlic naan too. It was amazing. The salad accompanying the kebab was fresh and tasted wonderful. To enhance the meal a bottle of rojca was opened abd was divine. The place filled up and the staff were constantly setting up tables after diners left. We were not felt to be rushed and the staff checked in on us regularly. Definitely we will be back, glad we hadn't been organised and had a booking somewhere else.

This was our second visit here and although the first time was fantastic, our second time was even better. The service was fabulous and the food amazing. We had a selection of starters and main courses which we thought we'd share and every mouthful was better than the last. The attentive staff were so professional and so very gracious with nothing any trouble at all. We were really impressed by everything and will definitely be back. ps. It's worth striking up a conversation as they can tell a funny story or two especially "The Gaffer". Thank you so much everyone.

This restaurant is our favourite place to eat. Outstanding food as always, friendly, attentive staff. It was my husband’s 50th birthday and staff went above and beyond by surprising him with a slice of chocolate cake and singing Happy Birthday. We recommend if you have never been to this restaurant you must try it. You won’t be disappointed. Food is freshly cooked, always piping hot and so tasty. It’s the best there is.

Visited last night again. Had poppadoms with dips as starters,perfect. Then had chicken tikka Ceylon but I asked for it to be a little hotter. Was perfect. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be back

Another great night at the Koolba. The food is excellent as is the service. I am a regular customer and Sadhana and staff are excellent in looking after the customers. Certainly a must visit restaurant in Glasgow.

The food was AMAZING!!! We came from Chile for 2 days to Glasgow and everything was really good. Congratulations to the chef and staff. This place is a MUST!

Great Indian food and service located in the Merchant city.

First visit from Edinburgh for pre-theatre menu and OMG as a curry lover it absolutely excelled in so many ways! Choice, boiling hot (heat not taste), huge portions, and amazing taste! Can't wait to return! Staff were a delight, especially Nizam, whom I booked with. Loved the booth, too!

🌶️ Short version: fantastic food that I can't wait to go back to have more of! Longer version: I've been fortunate enough to go to Koolba for lunch twice, and both times I was wowed by the variety and quality of dishes available. You could eat here for a week and not have to eat the same thing twice! If you stop by (and you should) I'd strongly recommend trying the Mirza Ghassemi as a starter 😋

Absolutely delicious lunch today at Koolba, our first time dining there. Food was sublime, you could tell it was all freshly prepared & so tasty. We had the express lunch, it was such good value & obviously quality ingredients. The staff were so friendly & attentive too.

Myself, brother and sister visited the Koolba this evening (29.12.23). We have been a few times before and would always choose to come here for Indian food. The food is freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and VERY tasty. The staff always serve to our requirements. Staff are outstanding: polite, helpful, friendly, accommodating and hardworking. The ambience and atmosphere is warm, welcoming and relaxing. It was yet again, another successful visit for us and we will be going back again and again!

A great restaurant we found casually while strolling in merchant city. Probably among the best Indian food I ever had; staff was always present and ready to help. The unique colourful tapestries adorning the walls were a pleasure to admire while tasting our excellent dinner. A restaurant me and my partner will indeed visit again.

First visit and won’t be last.. Loved it from start to finish.. Manager and rest of the staff were so friendly and welcoming,they couldn’t have done more for us.. Each one of us in our group agreed that this the best Indian we had.

We ordered 2 lamb dishes but when the food was presented one of the dishes was beef. The young waiter was fantastic but the female I took to be the manager was pretty unfriendly. The manager definitely needs to learn some manners or they will lose customers.

It wasn't what I expected it to be

Was good, but the staff made me and my friend feel a bit uncomfortable by slowly walking past our table every 5 seconds and looking at our food and stuff. I know they were just trying to be helpful if they were needed, although it got a bit distracting and made us feel a bit awkward. Good food though and great authentic atmosphere!

Maybe our 4th time here. Superb again. Atmosphere and staff are top notch. Had fish pakora and salmon curry. Very generous portion. Superb flavours. Totally recommend. Thanks again.

Food is very good but disproportionately priced. Service was extremely slow, an hour wait for mains. When challenged on the poor and dour service the manager was verging on aggressive, dismissive and rejected any criticism. This is the worst customer service we have experienced since moving to Glasgow earlier in the year We will not be back.

Lovely menu with most dishes gluten free. Very amiable and attentive staff. We went on Saturday prior to a matinee at the Tron Theatre so had the pre-theatre menu which is very reasonable. Music is played at a suitable volume to allow you to chat without having to raise your voice! Ideal location for the theatre too.

The tandoori with grill meat platter to share is fantastic. We also tried a salmon bangali curry which was amazing. Cosy restaurant with a diverse Indian and Persian menu. Lovely service and delicious food!
