The best food in cheltenham. Being out of town does make for an altogether quieter night out, which suits me. If it were in the center of town, there'd be a month long waiting list.

Food: very good, well prepared and cooked - the food wasn't overwhelmed by spices; comes at a price. Poppadoms were not complimentary... Service: some of the staff - not all, should smile a bit more. Prices of some large drinks are not given on the menu, yet you'll be asked whether you'd like to go large; a bit dubious... Atmosphere: not in the proprietors control, however some of the clientele were using foul language.

First time visit, for mum's birthday, and what a hit! Amazing food, best curry we have ever had. Fish kebab sooooo delicious! And chicken with lamb just melts in your mouth! Polite staff, clean restaurant. Will definitely be back for more

Quality Indian cuisine here without doubt. Only disappointment was the very bland papadom tray, tasteless & sloppy, had to ask for lime pickle to be included.

Second tome visiting Koloshi as havent been in a few years. Had a really lovely meal, staff extremely attentive, food cooled to perfection and the decoration of the restaurant is awesome. Really nice chilled evening.

Fabulous takeaway meal even though the Madras came as Lamb when Chicken was ordered - maybe that's why it was dearer than expected (the box was marked as C-M), just as well my husband liked lamb. The Chicken Passanda was beautiful. Thank you 😊

The best Indian food I’ve had since I’ve been on this planet. It doesn’t taste like every other Indians out there. Fresh, hot and great service. This is the gold standard of Indians.

WOW what a place! As an Indian, it’s not easy to find food that beats home cooking. Koloshi is incredible. The food was so tender with vibrant flavours that take you right back to India. The service was excellent and the interior ambience is lovely. Highly recommend this place if your looking for a great Indian in the area.

Really good atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. The menu is varied and offers a good choice including the vegetarian which was excellent. Good sized portions. Our meal was well cooked and presented and really nicely spiced. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend.

The food was incredibly good. The owner is also the chef and he produces seriously great food. He has won awards for his skills. Almost certainly the best Asian restaurant in the county if not the south west. It was also reasonably priced at around 32 pounds per head. This included starter, main course, papadums with dips, nan breads plus a round of drinks and six glasses of water with lime wedges. There was no charge for the water. The round of drinks also included 2 extra beers. At that price I thought it was very reasonable. Highly recommended. We shall visit again.

Brilliant Indian restaurant. I've never been disappointed by a meal here. One of if not my favourite place for a curry in Cheltenham.

Has it changed ownership or changed chef? Previously it was worth paying the high price for the outstanding quality, but a recent takeaway was bland, watery sauces and greasy food. Now expensive for very average food. Very sad.

Really enjoyed all the food, very good service

Decent portions but quality wasn't that great probably the worst butter chicken I've ever had chicken was undercooked and in big pieces, asked for still water they bought me sparkling, we didn't complain even though we didn't drink it but when they didn't return my £13 change when I paid the bill in cash, I went to the manager on my way out and said you can keep it but it's not ethical to forcefully keep tips. Not a great experience overall.

The Koloshi serves wonderfully tasty and spicy Indian food to a high standard. Wide and varied choice on the menu. Very enjoyable atmosphere. Prices are slightly expensive for the portions served, but nevertheless still worth it for the overall experience. The ingredients are well chosen and presented to make the food more memorable. A good choice if you are dining with friends or family.

My son booked this restaurant for the Christmas Day taster menu,7 courses.The food was excellent ,duck and lamb so tender and succulent.Staff very helpful and friendly.The only slight comment ,and it is a personal thing,I wouldn't bother with the Christmas pudding as dessert only (choice available),I would prefer an Indian sweet or kulfi.Otherwise excellent.

Excellent food, excellent service

The prices shown on the website takeaway menu are quite a bit lower than the price I was charged when collecting my order (£47.10 instead of £39.90). According to the manager the website is out of date, and he was not prepared to refund the difference. Also my meal, ramchran, was almost too sweet to eat. If I had been eating in, I would have sent it back. I don't like to leave a negative review, but I'm disappointed and have tried explaining to the manager without success.

Nice food but too spicy for me. Even the mild dishes were too spicy. Nothing much for vegans or vegetarians either but what they do have is of good quality.

Wonderful food, staff and restaurant...love it every time

We ate outdoors in thier new temporary dining area. Had a really lovely meal, with fantastic service and very reasonably priced. Thankyou. Tonight we sat in thier new permanent extension and it was fantastic as always. Thankyou so much.

Fantabulous , will definitely be back again expect for the bad experience from one specific person who was serving us felt he was racially motivated so wasn’t happy with his service felt intimidated. Anyways apart from this unpleasant experience of this person who was serving us rest of it was outstanding. We were group of 5 and was initially not confident this place will be good based on the fact that this is away from city centre and initially service but all that changed as soon as food came in and the ambience and other people who were also serving us who made the experience really pleasant. The location, ambience , service , quality , quantity and also the fact that they cater to our spice levels all of it I would rate this place 6 out of 5. Thanks for the fantabulous food and service , will be back again and highly recommended.

Driving back from the racing we got a table at the Koloshi, the service and food were outstanding. We called in for a second visit on the last day of the Cheltenham festival, again everything was fabulous, special mention to ABBEY who really helped me choose a great dish !

Used to be great, such a shame. Nice food but we're urged to order quickly (having booked a table on-line) as the kitchen was closing. We had only just sat down. Why let people book a table if you have to speed them through?? Very uncomfortable.

I do not like leaving negative feedback but I was less than impressed with this restaurant. Except decoration, nothing was up to the mark. Food was a big let down and service was just about ok. I would not like to visit or recommend this restaurant based on my personal experience, sorry.

We passed by this restaurant and dropped in for dinner. The service was good but the food was below average. It was more like frozen food that was reheated and served. Even the pappadum smelled pretty old. Could taste the flavours but was not fresh for us. Sorry but the food needs to be fresh.

One meal supposed to be mild was red hot.. and the cooked in a coconut was like water not sure of contents...service very slow.. plus side ..waiters were very polite but took ages to get drinks.. and 2.10.for soda water...

As someone who eats out a fair bit, Koloshi really stood out to me. The chef clearly takes pride in pushing boundaries and experimenting with creative ideas. Front of house likewise take pride in delivering a professional service. The menu itself actually highlights pericular dishes with the suffix 'creative' to draw attention to where the chef has gone beyond staple mainstream options to demonstrate creative flair (Crowd pleases on offer also) In pericular, the dish I chose was served in a baked coconut which was broken apart upon serving through a layer of pastry to reveal the dish within. Groundbreaking and an entertaining thrill at the table. Every dish for me and my companions was unique and refined in flavour and composition and plated with impeccable presentation. The setting was modern and classy while retaining a subtle homage to the cultural roots of the cuisine. Delivery was timely. The service was friendly but unintrusive, as it should be. Koloshi certainly is deserving of its accolades and presence on the Michelin shortlist.

I am a passionate lover of indian food and was fortunate to live near Birmingham where there is a number of quality restaurants eg Maharajah, Rajdoot, Itihaas, Lasan, Asha’s etc Koloshi is on a par with these places. I enjoyed a superb Lamb Shaslik. The quality of lamb was excellent and the accompanying peppers and tomatoes cooked in the tandoor oven were so tasty. My wife had a biryani and said it was as good as she has ever had. My son devoured a Paneer Tikka Masala with a peshwari naan. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice ambiance. It’s definitely a place to visit if you love quality indian food

I've passed this restaurant many times and wondered what is what like. I went there a few days ago and the food is fabulous. Gorgeous flavours and many dishes you won't see elsewhere such as a king prawn dish served in a hollowed out coconut. Wonderful. I will definitely eat there again and also have their takeaway menu. Highly recommended

We were staying at the CL over the road, so it was very convenient for us. Restaurant was very busy and quite noisy as there were big, multigenerational tables around us. The restaurant is beautiful, very stylish. Our food was good, a very different menu to choose from. I had scallops to start with and king prawns for main, which was served in a coconut shell!

After visiting here a few days ago I noticed a lot of change , tables moved about different staff not the usual helpful faces slow on table service , booked a table a long wait …such a shame what has happened to make this change ?Due to the uncertain times and change i think most people need normality of what they used to here …Also flies on windowsills isn’t such a good thing in a Restaurant - needs cleaning !

This was a first time visit and we were not disappointed. Quite grand decor in this large restaurant. Service was efficient, attentive and friendly. Drinks sorted out quickly. Good range of dishes, many different than the usual indian fare. Too full to try the puddings. Will definitely return.

Extremely disappointing. The main course was greasy, the bread basket was swimming in a pool of oil and the daal did not have any salt. The paneer tikka and papadum starters was pretty decent though.

Koloshi has been recommended to me by a few people so thought we’d try it and we will never eat here again!!The meals were all greasy and over spiced and expensive The korma Sauce my daughter had was thin like water and tasted cheesey!I Travel and eat all around the country and am highly disappointed...

Nice restaurant, ample parking and really yummy food. Lots of choice and nice regional options. Service was a bit slow but a nice atmosphere.

Fantastic service and fresh tasting dishes with depth of flavour. We went as two families of four snd the waiters were great with the kids. We will definitely be returning, our daughters have requested we go back as they also loved the food.

We ordered take-away, not realising they had an outside verandah space for pandemic-friendly dining-in. Although our order was all boxed up for take away, they kindly agreed to re-dish everything and we ate there. Really good service / staff and food. The lamb bhuna was particularly good, with very soft lamb and lots of it, and a lovely rich sauce although perhaps a little over-salted (as with some of the other dishes). The dishes were all a very good size (although the rices not so much by comparison). We will definitely be back when next in the area, and will try their signature prawn curry and / or goan fish curry next time.

Pre Covid, I was already a big Koloshi fan. The restaurant itself is lovely - a great atmosphere, attentive staff and of course, delicious food.For a family members birthday a couple of weeks ago, we decided to try a Koloshi curry to celebrate. From the restaurant, it’s collection only. Which is not a problem because it’s totally worth the drive. We had a mix of curries - bhuna, korma and a murgh shashlik. Rice, naans, poppadoms, onions baajis. It was all delicious!! Great portions sizes (we are big foodies). Onion baajis are HUGE, and so are the naans. Cut a long story short, we discovered Koloshi now has a ‘koloshi kitchen’ located in town for delivery/collection only. So we decided we HAD to try, to find out whether it was just as good. It exceeded expectations and could possibly say it was even more delicious than before. This time we had a jalfrezi, korma and the awadhi murgh. The chicken thigh was so so tender and juicy. Again the onion baajis and naans were fab. The beetroot chutney (part of the pickle tray) is delicious. The dishes can be a bit on the spicy side so request it to be as mild as possible if you’re not a spice-lover. With collection, staff are very friendly and welcoming. With delivery, it was with us within 30 minutes and still hot and fresh. This IS the place to go, either to dine in (once lockdown is over) or as a takeaway. So to answer the all important question... BOTH!! Thank you Koloshi for another delicious meal. (Apologies for the long review but I am a big food lover and really rely on Tripadvisor reviews to make decisions on places to try so I appreciate a detailed review... apologies for no photos but we couldn’t wait to dig in)

Absolutely the best curry and fab service in Gloucestershire, food is incredible, we enjoy their food regularly and it’s always consistently great. Don’t look anywhere else, we’ve tried most others and Koloshi is by far the best and thanks to all the friendly team at Koloshi! Phil & Laura

We’d heard very good things about Koloshi, so were excited to try it. Ordered a takeaway for a Saturday night treat, and wish we’d stuck to our usual. The prawns in the puri were very hard, and there was hardly any sauce. The Korma was so pale it looked like pure cream, and tasted the same, bland and unappetising. The rice was also hard. Had we been eating in the restaurant we would have sent the entire meal back. So disappointed.

Restaurant in a very pleasant setting. Received a very warm welcome and excellent service throughout. Superb menu with some interesting and unusual dishes to tempt. The quality of our food was excellent and meals were very good value for money given that quality. Would definitely recommend and return there.

We have just left this lovely restaurant having celebrated our wedding anniversary by experiencing their 7 course taster menu lunch. Every mouthful was delicious and I would thoroughly recommend this as a way to get to taste several small courses and sample the gorgeous flavours. Beautifully laid out restaurant, staff were polite, interested and attentive. Toilets were spotless and glamorous ( can only vouch for ladies!) The only negative was that there was only 1 other couple in the venue for lunch, though they did say lunchtimes are always fairly quiet and evenings are busy. We went with a Travelzoo voucher which offered the 7 course meal for 2 and a glass of prosecco each for £59, great value for money. Hope they get the support they deserve through these difficult times.

A great tasting menu! Highlights were the lamb and the bream. Given the nice size of the fish, there could have been more beef later on, and there was only one crustacean (not "prawns" as on the menu). The dessert dumpling was lovely too. Service was excellent. Our 2nd meal there, and we'll be back....

When ever we have a particularly important family event to celebrate, for us there really is only one restaurant of choice - The Koloshi. Just over 3 miles from the centre of Cheltenham, on the A40 towards Oxford, the impressive white building instills confidence even before one steps through the door. Ease of access with plenty of parking is just the beginning of the experience. Once through the entrance vestible where a hand sanitising station helps keep bugs at bay, one is royally greeted by the attentive staff. Ones first impression is of opulent halls, where no small attention to detail has been applied in achieving a perfect balance of large open space, and intimate table arranging, meeting to create a wonderful interior designers dream Indian embassy of a venue. In these worrying times, it is a relief to sit in comfort and feel totally secure in ones space, the feeling of having ones own family area, as it were, without any feeling of isolation, is especially appreciated. Service is prompt, friendly and professional, the staff leaving one with the impression that you are their very reason for existence. Our meal can only be described as sublime, the keen eyed staff keeping apace with our drinks consumption, but never leaving one with the feeling that they were hovering; a neat achievement that many restaurants strive for, but few attain. We never felt hurried and enjoyed a wonderfully relaxed family evening The Koloshi kitchen produces the very best in Indian cuisine, with a hugely varied choice from the comprehensive menu - the level of quality of the cooking defies the authors feeble attempts at description, suffice to say our taste buds will be forever grateful. In summary, the excellence of the fare was exceeded only by the quality of the service. What ever your reason for taking someone out for a meal might be, to impress a client, to show a loved one how much you care, or just to treat the family to a unique experience, we would not hesitate in recommending the Koloshi, and their excellent team, to anyone looking for the very best that Gloucestershire has to offer.

We had a fabulous 7 course taster menu for lunch today, (this was a postponed booking that should have happened back in April for my husbands birthday but got delayed due to covid). Well the wait was well worth it, not only was the food sublime, it was beautifully presented and professionally served. The young gentlemen serving us were a joy of good manners and knowledge as each course was explained. We do not live in the area but now wish we did, this was like no other Indian cuisine we have ever eaten before and cannot recommend it enough.
