Recently visited a small ramen shop and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. The dishes were delicious and offered great value for money. However, the only area in need of improvement is the ventilation system. During my meal, I felt a bit cramped, and there was quite a bit of grease in the air. Overall, a tasty experience, but better airflow would make it even more enjoyable!

Had lunch special - pork ramen - for £7.90. While there were only two slices of pork, what more could one ask for when it's only £7.90 (compared with other places that might charge more for the same kind of food)? The ramen noodles themselves were good. The soup base might be a bit too salty (to my taste) but overall we did enjoy the food. It wasn't too busy when we went and the surrounding area wasn't so crowded that it felt relaxing. Would love to try other items on the menu next time!

Each time I visit this part of london, I'll try their special ramen, and it always blows me out of the water. Today it's the soupless ramen. The egg and special spicy sauce made the texture of the sauce that coats the ramen so creamy and glossy, I didn't know a texture like this was possible. So good. Send help. I need this everyday.

At 12 o'clock, the number of customers decreases. The staff was friendly. The 3.5 pound price for plain rice was a bit too much. Even in Europe, they charge 2 euros so it needs to be lowered.

I find it a shame that I am having to write this review. Kokura (or Yamagoya as I knew it) used to be my restaurant of choice for if I wanted really good ramen at a good price in the city. It would still be my go to place were it not for the unpleasant and frankly unacceptable service that I received here after bringing a group of friends. We ordered 4 ramen bowls and unfortunately 1 member of our party was unable to eat anything on the menu due to cross contamination. Waiting staff were very helpful/ knowledgeable and gave us the allergen menu to review. However after being reccomended by staff that our friend should not order anything, we asked if we could get something from elsewhere to bring in for her to eat as we had planned to eat here, and we had already ordered a substantial amount of food and spent over £50. Granted, this is a strange request, but not unreasonable in my opinion due to the circumstances. The manager promptly came to the front of the restaurant to tell us that we could not bring any food in, with no further explanation as to why and no help for the member of our party with allergens. All in all I was quite shocked at how rude he was being, especially as it would have cost them nothing and simply allowed everyone to eat at the same time. Furthermore, we have never had a restaurant not even try to accommodate for my friend's allergies, despite similar situations occurring in the past. She then had to wait and watch as we ate our food, which ruined the experience for everyone and put a downer on the rest of the evening. The food was and still is good but I could not enjoy it knowing that not everyone was having a good time. I will be finding a new ramen spot, which will be hard as the food here was great, but I cannot justify such rude and unhelpful service from a manager of all people.

Nice cute little dinning place, you order and pay at the counter before you sit. Love the interior decoration, you can hang your bags and clothes on the hooks behind you. The food is generally around a tenner, I had their signature ramen, the toppings were great, I loved the eggs. The broth is okay, tasted like one of those Japan fast food chains, but for the price you’re paying, this is worth every penny. The noodles are normal in terms of softness, I’d prefer firm noodles. There’s plenty of seats, don’t have to wait around.

A restaurant that treats children poorly is not a restaurant worth going to, because I don't think you would treat your friends and family that way. We have a child under two years old and asked him to give us a baby seat. He insisted that it was not safe to put a baby seat in the seat we were inside and that it would be safe to sit near the bar. Do you think it is safer for a child under two years old to sit in a seat without any backrest? Would you treat your own child or a friend's child like this? We asked for an extra chair, hoping that the child could sit alone instead of being held, which would make it impossible to eat. We needed an extra chair to put coats, because the entire seat was occupied by coats, making it impossible to sit. But this gentleman I insist on not giving, I hope you are just a waiter, because if you are the boss, I will be speechless. All this bad service would be fine if the food was good. The highlight is that I also had a mediocre bowl of ramen. It doesn't have any special features. I really can't understand why it has a bad attitude?

Overall stressful experience. I had the Oyako Ramen which was somewhat ok, but I had to top it up with lots of chilli powder for to be good. Not bad food though. The main struggle was the rude waiter, he was very intense from the first moment, pretty unwelcoming, and also he interrupted and asked if we want to order something else because there is other customers waiting - bearing in mind that we were there only for about 1 hour or so, it was not as if we were keeping the table occupied for hours without ordering. Waiter added great stress to my experience.

They function as a food court in a way eg you place an order at the bar and get a buzzer thing that notifies you when the order is ready. We got 2 different ramens (specialty one and another one with beef) - the noodles were cooked well but the broth was very salty! Also, watch out for the weather cuz they have an automatic door that reacts to literally any movement.. we ended up sitting with our coats on as the cold air constantly flew in through an opened door

A friend and I came for dinner on a Friday night and the food was pretty good, but not mind blowing. We both had the classic ramen, which had good broth, a delicious egg, average quality pork but unfortunately no customisation like some of the better ramen restaurants in London. The big let down was the service, particularly from the restaurant manager as some of the other comments warned. My friend was ~10 minutes late and despite the restaurant having several empty tables, he decided to tell me I would need to leave if she didn't turn up soon (he even asked for her exact ETA). The sentiment of his message is fair IF the restaurant was busy, but the tone and delivery was extremely rude regardless. He also scolded a customer for closing the automatic door, which was an honest mistake. Overall nice food but not worth the mood kill service.

The mountain hut used to be a ramen shop with its main branch in Iizuka, Fukuoka, but the name of the shop has since changed to Ogura. I used to see videos of the founder playing, and I thought it was interesting, although I didn't think the company's thoughts could be conveyed. Although Iizuka and Kokura are geographically close, they are not related. I'm glad that the ramen shops in mountain huts in Japan are still mountain huts. The taste hasn't changed, but the price has gone up compared to before the £1 renewal. Although it's still cheaper than others. disappointing. Yamakoya was a ramen shop whose head office was in Iizuka, Fukuoka, but the name of the shop here has changed to Kokura. Iizuka and Kokura are geographically close but not related. Walked down to this area to try some Asian food and found this Japanese ramen store. Menu is quite simple. The hot ramens come with the option of pork, chicken, or tofu; and the cold noodle as well. The restaurant also offers rice and curry. I tried the chicken Oyako Ramen and it was quite nice. Unlike the other Japanese ramen in London that would be seasoned way too salty and greasy, this one was moderate. My friend and I like the fine noodles and the clean toppings. Staff was smiley when we entered the restaurant. She provided clear information on the seats and the way to order. We didn’t wait for too long before the ramens were ready. It’s partially self service so you need to go get your food at the counter when the buzzer buzzed.

Kokura Ramen offers a well-prepared ramen broth with a balanced flavor. While the noodles were slightly undercooked, the chashu and other sides were served in good proportions. The seaweed was a bit too soggy, though this seems to be a common issue. The chicken karage was a highlight, properly seasoned and freshly fried. The self-service setup without a service charge is a fair arrangement. Environment is clean and neat. Overall, the experience was good, if not exceptional. I'd consider revisiting if I'm in the area again.

Bad experience for me. I ordered the Chashu ramen and the chicken karaage. The soup is not hot enough (which is basic in any authentic ramen shop) and the taste is quite blend. I couldn’t taste any pork flavour from a supposedly Tonkotsu soup. They seem to forget to add salt as well. The grilled chashu has a strong stinky taste which is a big red flag in Tonkotsu ramen. The chicken karaage is below average - a bit burned and over cooked, I could taste the bitterness from the batter. Overall this is quite a disappointing “ramen shop”. It was called Yamagoya but now the name has changed to Kakura, not sure if this changed the quality. (I have tried Yamagoya in different cities in the world, the products are usually okay). The only good thing is the service after all, staff are friendly. However I do not recommend this place if you want real ramen.

Ordered for delivery and received half a portion of the Thai Chicken Rice Bowl. They didn’t include any napkins, spoons, chopsticks – nothing. I know what the portion should be like because I've ordered it before, but this place really messed up.

This little restaurant used to be very nice and special. Grilled meat is still quite good but prices have risen and the staff despite still being friendly are very slow... no longer using the butcher services either after a couple of disappointing attempts, including where they didn't have even meat we had reserved in advance...

It's simply tragic that in the year 2024, in a place like this with so many daily customers, there's no free WiFi! Unbelievable!!! And when I asked why there's no network, I just got the following response: "It works, you just can't connect..." Fortunately, there are other cafes that don't deceive you! Such a shame!

Nice pub, great staff, a wide range of drinks just a shame the manager is up his own arse and flounces around like he is Tom Cruise from Cocktail!!!!!

It was better than we imagined. Our waiter Henry was so kind and attentive. The whole experience was lovely. Very lovely food as well which was plentiful and freshly prepared to perfection. Will be back!
