Kokoro Maidenhead in Windsor and Maidenhead

Kokoro had been on my list for a long time, but unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience. I came yesterday with my partner and was immediately struck by how dirty the place looked. The staff seemed confused and disorganized. The chicken was chewy. I wanted to like it based on the recommendations I'd heard, but the combination of cleanliness issues, confused staff, and poor food quality means I won't be returning.

Food is not great unfortunately. Service is average.

Food is bland, rice is overcooked, and taste nothing like any other Kokoro establishment I’ve been. It’s like they’ve just made up their own recipes here? Very strange. Never coming back. First and last time. You’re better off in Windsor. Order: sweet and sour chicken with rice.

always love getting food from here, the food is always hot and fresh. however, i recently ordered the seafood udon, and the prawn katsu arrived very soggy as it was placed in the bowl with the noodles and stock. it ruined the texture of it and the prawns weren’t enjoyable to eat. i’d like to suggest that the katsu prawns (and chicken if they are also packaged together for the chicken katsu udon) be packaged separately in future so this doesn’t happen? great otherwise but the soggy katsu ruined it a bit me

The food is alright, but the servers are always inconsistent. Sometimes I get good value for that bowl of £11 (large bowl with 2 dishes), but sometimes they can be so stingy with the dishes and they put more than half of the bowl filled with rice. This was what happened the last time I was there a few weeks ago which disappointed tremendously. 1. The bowl sizes have decreased - yes the bowls are smaller now. Maybe this is their way of not increasing the prices further. 2. They fill more than half of the bowl with rice / noodles, so there's less space for the dishes. This is unfair and it wasn't like that before. The server was also very stingy with the dishes. She put so little of the beef and the chilli chicken. 3. If you go during the day, they'll be very stingy, perhaps so they can sell to more people with less dishes scooped. Didn't even put the gravy until I asked. Maybe they just don't want the dishes to finish so they'll have to cook more. So I was given too much rice, so little dishes. Not balanced at all.

Went down hill. The women today was so rude. Never again

super duper yummy and the lady was so nice <3 the sweet and sour chicken was so peak i just kept coming back even when my teeth were owie. they were also super kind when i only had like moneyz and no card

amazing food, my favorite Japanese takeaway in Berkshire, the portions are big , very tasty, I've been here a few times and overall the food is brilliant, I would definitely recommend to others

Don’t get me wrong not all the staff are bad. Usually they give me excellent service every time as i’m a returning customer. However on 23/12/2024, I’ve never seen this lady work there before. Indian lady, spoke well english. Greeted me and asked what I would like and then said id have to wait so i said cool ill go tesco and she said should be done by time i get back. Ive gone tesco come back my order was no where near to be made and what i told her i wanted, she went and used it for another order and then told me i had to wait some time to cook more food. I was appalled made me waste my time and miss my train by telling me i had to wait the first time and then proceeded to tell me to wait for longer when all the food was there but instead used it for a different order. was around 19:28

Filled up my food so much that I couldnt get to the rice below. Said I had to buy an extra pot if I want to eat my rice at the same time as the chicken, without spilling it everywhere. Miserable server.

For is absolutely disgusting like slop noodles well overcooked like paste on the mouth chicken sloppy mess all in all very disappointing wouldn’t recommend atall also staff very rude

The food is so yummy and reasonably priced, be aware there isn’t much seating

The food quality is SO inconsistent- I don’t know how many cooks they have but clearly they don’t follow any protocol. Some days all the dishes taste so sweet you could barely swallow. What a shame.

My favorite Kokoro! I visit lot of Kokoro but this one has the best juicy katsu chicken and I love the spicy tofu which has good soft texture marinate lingering to the chew.

Fancied something veggie for a snack, popped in on a Saturday evening, ( take away only)small but clean establishment, staff very very friendly and explained all their dishes, ( all food cooked on the premises) chose tempura crispy prawns, torfu balls and veg noodles, must say very delishious, when i fancy decent noodles, i know where to go

Last Sunday Food was great and at a good price with very helpful servers especially boris behind the counter is so helpful.

I love the Maidenhead Kokoro, I have been to a few now Windsor, hounslow etc but this one is always on point with there noodles and there sweet and chilli chicken it is 10/10, worth the drive and there position are very good and there halal!

I usually like kokoro but to my disappointment the taste is different from their other franchises. I ordered the sweet chilli chicken but it was not sweet at all and breading was not done properly. Beef was a bit hard for me to chew. Salmon is recommended.

Stopped for lunch and had the mix bowl with two toppings. The portions are generous, and flavourful, but the meat is very low quality and very fatty. So much so that we left it. Such a shame - we won’t be visiting again.

I visited here yesterday and ordered the large Sweet Chilli Chicken with rice. I have to admit it was a generous portion and was edible. However, I also have to concur with some of the other reviewers when they say that the food here is quite different to a lot of the other Kokoro branches. The Sweet Chilli Chicken dish is usually a lot darker, perhaps due to the batter and thicker sauce present at other branches within the chain. I was assured when purchasing that they use the same recipe as other Kokoro outlets. Even if the ingredients used are may the same, the quantities included certainly are not. I showed the person behind the counter photos of the dish taken by other people, available to see on google photos and through other media. She told me the visual difference is probably due to lighting. I showed her that all the photos were pretty consistent in representation of the dish, which contrasted with their own, but they seemed nonplussed. I have included photos so that those who are familiar with the dish from other Kokoro branches can judge for themselves. I would usually recommend Kokoro but cannot recommend this particular branch at the time of leaving this review.

The food is always on point but the afternoon staff is a credit to this establishment as they are friendly and take the time to talk with their customers.Always look forward to getting my food here.

Food has really gone downhill recently, brought sweet chilli chicken one lunchtime , pale and inedible, as for the staff, when i complained, I was totally ignored! The lady looked at me and walked away !

This place is very 50/50, some days the food is incredible but other days you can see the lack of care. I regularly ordered the Chicken Curry with Rice and it's very tasty and would recommend, never really had a bad experience with that specifically. If you order sushi or katsu etc. you have a 50/50 chance of it being really nice or really bad. Some of my more recent trips have been the latter. I'd still give this place a 4 stars since the curry is amazing and when the sushi is good then it's really nice and filling. Overall price is pretty high but you get great portions so would recommend.

The quality of the food here has noticeably gone downhill. The staff generally appear to not care about what they're doing. Unlikely I'll be returning.

This place used to be really good however my last trips have been nothing but disappointment. Both times part of my chicken was uncooked. Not sure how they can get this wrong but really not worth your money.

Food was delicious. Spent around £8. For me, It was really filling. I even had some left over. In comparison to Wasabi, Kokoro is better.

If you want the worst kokoro sweet chilli chicken in the country this is the place to go. Dont bother trying to call, email or use the contact us form to complain either they wont respond. Been twice both times sucked. Other places batter the chicken this one doesnt. Fool me once, fool me twice but never fool me three times. Ones in Epsom and Sutton are way better.

As a Japanese person myself I was pleasantly surprised by the food and I would recommend it. The person who served me was a Georgous sweetheart who said his name started with s and ended with imon. He was tall and very muscly 😉 and gave me a lot of advice. 5 star service from the don

Usually good, but very disappointed. 1) All pricing and product information have been taken away. 2) Prices have gone up and you don’t tell customers until you’ve filled the bowl - now £7.50!! for a small size. 3) Beef stew which used to be amazing and made with chunky soft pieces of meat, is now served as something thin and rubbery sold as beef. Won’t return.

Goodbye Kokoro Maidenhead! You have the worst customer service I have encountered ever! I’ve been coming in at least once a week for a few months and most times I have been ignored by the staff who seem to be more interested in the delivery guys than helping us standing there. Quite a few times the staff have been rude to the customers as if we are an inconvenience to them. On a recent visit the young male staff member clearly saw me but pretended he didn’t and turned his back to me, and the female staff member glanced at me and carried on fiddling with bits of paper. I stood there a while before getting served, along with other customers, yet the delivery guys seemed to be getting priority. I have been into Kokoro Windsor a few times and the customer experience was far superior, so they will now be getting all my custom! I know I’m not the only one as overheard many other customers complaining. Goodbye!

Food is okay however was very disappointed with service in relation to advertised price. I was charged more for my lunch than what was advertised on the menu as, both the paper menu and what was shown on the screen didn't reflect a price increase that "just" took place. I wasn't told at the point I made my order, nor was I told or asked if I wanted a bag which I was charged an extra 0.10 for. It's not about the money just incredibly bad and deceptive service and even after pointing this out, they just said sorry we don't have new menus yet and waiting for the screens to be changed. And this doesn't excuse them not telling me at point of order. Out of principle won't be returning!

Yesterday late evening I popped in to buy food and failed to get served as there was just one lady serving and queue of people!! This is the second time this has happened. Get more staff!

This is the second purchase in a row where I have found hair in my chicken katsu curry. It’s unacceptable and unhygienic. Not impressed.

I ordered with Deliveroo ( £10 off voucher + free delivery included) sweet and sour chicken which was really good, chicken Teriyaki which was OK and noodles. Don't expect rice noodles no, big, thick yellow noodles. Veg.gyoza was rubbery and smelt odd. Sainsbury's does better ones or Waitrose. I did not eat them.

Bone and skin on sushi - never again

No hellos or smiles. Told there would be no rice for 15 minutes. Came back 15 minutes later to be told theres no rice for at least another 10 minutes. Terrible service and staff.
