What a shame but Kokoro in Brighton (Churchill square) has gone down. First of all the staff is so rude! they can’t even reply when customers say “Hello”. The place has been refurbished and they got rid of the upstairs tables and chairs so you can only sit downstairs but there is only about 4/5 chairs available which most of the time they are taken and/or you have to be squashed by rude delivery drivers waiting for to collect their orders. Will not be spending money there anymore.

Had the pumpkin katsu curry which was a nice veggie option, with a few spring rolls. Good service, nice quick eat. Had to carry back to hotel so they packaged it well for me.

Jude is a legend and I love him (he is the manager) gave us extra food and made me feel so welcome if you go there say wagwan to him for me!

Shockingly bad food and potentially dangerous contamination. My friend ordered the sweet chilly chicken and said it tasted like seafood. I tried the food and can confirm it did taste like seafood. We then went back to get them to swap it for something that was chicken and not seafood chicken and they refused. Saying he had eaten too much (he had one bit of chicken and so did I hardly anything in the large pot, furthermore how would you be able to tell the food is bad before trying it????) keep in mind he was also asking for a smaller cheaper pot. They continued to refuse his offer and said he could only have the pot they made him. However he couldn’t eat it due to his fish intolerance and wasn’t willing to take the risk. Eventually we decided to leave as we were holding up the line. And we were getting agitated being shouted at by members of staff. Spending close to £9 on 2 bits of chicken. This was a massive disappointment for us as previously we loved this dish and if it wasn’t for todays event we would have highly recommend this place.

Ordered Chicken with noodles. Chewy, fatty grey chicken came with big starchy overcooked noodles, a cloying sweet sauce that made us want to throw up and a few huge chunks of raw onion and carrot. Truly the most revolting food ever served in a restaurant.

We've been to Kokoro's in other branches and they were great. This one missed our order entirely so we had to get a refund which delayed our dinner. The katsu curry was more salty than usual, but it was still ok.

After walking for ages we stopped here for a quick lunch. My wife ordered a sweet & sour chicken with rice, and I ordered a Japanese chicken katsu curry with rice. Although I have often eaten better food than this place, I did find the food overall very tasty and similar to 'the real thing'. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly too. For a quick meal of takeaway I would order here again.

I had a noodle vegetable takeaway. It was a game of spot the vegetable in the noodle -- a few slithers of carrot and pepper. Completely unappetizing / hard work to eat after one mouthful -- heavy and tasteless. A return visit not going to happen. How they managed to make this easy dish so badly is diffficult to fathom.

Absolutely dire, service terrible, staff had no interest in serving customers instead chatting with their friends that came in. Food quality bad, rice very over cooked and watery, chicken is poor quality. Avoid! Much better options than this now.

I would give this zero if I could. I wanted to buy veggie katsu curry. At the counter I noticed that the batter prawns were touching the katsu pumpkin. I asked if they could cook Separate pumpkin in the kitchen and was told that all the chicken, fish and veggie stuff is cooked together in the same oil. This is bad for people who have fish allergies as well as the fact they can’t declare their food veggie if they’re not cooking it separate. I’ve written in to the company to complain, as I find this absolutely disgusting 🤢

Absolute amazing service from Hyejin. She talked us through all the dishes really helping us picked the perfect meal. Always delicious food here too.

I have been disappointed recently on more than 2 occasions. The fact that the prices gone up was something to expect but the same time the portions got smaller. No longer my favourite takeaway.

We’ve been regularly when open during our various lockdowns, by bike, on foot and by bus. When you get an urge for katsu curry this is the place to go. Loads of crispy chicken, loads of sauce, loads of rice and that’s just the regular size None of the supermarket brands can match this excellent fast food, let alone home made fake-away and I’ve tried several times. I order my sauce on the side to keep the katsu crispy on my way home - a little extra charge but then a huge tub. The young teenagers manage to share one - when they’re using their own money - there’s so much of it. Stick to the katsu curry and enjoy!

Huge disappointment! Lots of rice, lots of chicken and a teaspoon of sauce. So very bland. Whole family disappointed. Never again.

A bit disappointing. Food a bit bland and stodgy and far too much rice. Regular size is more than enough but at the end of the day this is fast food.

I imagine Kokoro stays afloat primarily due to its location, and its appeal to hipsters, who upload pictures of their bland, mass produced food onto Instagram, whilst fumbling with chop sticks, so they can show the world how cultured they are.

The service is good and the food is tasty, however, I am quite unsure on whether I enjoyed this or not, there was little rice, little amount of sauce, and loads of chicken, I personally would have been happy with just the sauce and rice.

Lucky enough to have two Kokoro Restaurants in Brighton, and this is the one on the corner of the Western road and Churchill Square.
