Very good poke bowl vegetarian takeout. Second time we tried. Gluten free no problem. City’s fessing very good. Very fresh, lots of custom options. Had tofu both times, wish there were a little more tofu and less rice.

Short Story: We went to Koko Bento in Lancaster for the first time today and had a really awful experience. Everything was normal, the service was nice and the restaurant was pretty quiet (went at 17.30pm ish). We were showed to our table by waitress no.2 and left to pick our food. When looking at the menu we noticed that it specified if the chicken dishes had thigh meat. So my husband chose the "Mochiko Chicken curry" because he really doesn't like thigh meat (makes him feel sick). When the mains arrived, he took a bite and said that it was definitely thigh meat and that he couldn't eat it. He flagged waitress no.1 and said to her that he was really sorry but the main was chicken thigh meat and that he couldn't eat it, so please could he send it back and get another main. Waitress no.1 said that because he had ordered it and didn't ask about the meat that it was his fault. My husband repeated again he was sorry, but he couldn't eat the food so could he change meal. Then waitress no.1 went and asked waitress no.2 (who was downstairs) who said it was our fault and that the ingredients were already used so he had to pay for the food he couldn't eat plus a new main. We said politely that this wasn't right and that we wouldn't pay for the main that my husband didn't eat. The other waiter then brang my main (which was good and I thanked him) and saw that it was getting a bit heated and he tried descalate the situation which we thanked him for. Waitress no.1 then rang the manager who wasn't in and tried to make us speak to this manager over the phone (while I was eating my main) which was pretty rude and inappropriate. After my husband said he didn't want to talk to a manager over the phone and that again he wouldn’t be paying for food he didn't eat - we were left alone by the waitresses. When I finished my main, we went downstairs to pay the bill. Waitress no.2 was at the till and asked if we were going to pay for "everything" in an annoyed tone. And we calmly said we wanted to pay but wouldn't pay for the mochiko chicken curry that wasn't eaten. She then began to argue at us that it was our fault, didn't we know this was a business, we should pay because they had wasted ingredients etc in a raised voice which was very unprofessional. We again said that yes we could have double checked about the chicken in the dish but as it wasn't eaten that we categorically weren't paying for it but were happy to pay for everything else. She then told us to take a seat because she was ringing the police. We said that was fine and sat down at the counter and waited. The call went on for a few minutes before she ended it and walked back to the till and said we could pay now. The till has a screen where you can see the order items and the total bill. We could see she had taken off the mochiko chicken curry and we paid the bill. My husband asked "so the police said that you couldn't force us to pay then?". Waitress no.2 then began to raise her voice at us, saying the same spiel that she had said before she rang the police. My husband said let's just leave it and go and told her she was being really unprofessional and that it was wild that she had tried to get us arrested over a dish we didn't eat. As we left the restaurant, she shouted that we were pathetic and told us don't come back. I said don't worry we won't ever come back (sort of laughing because I was so taken aback and shocked by her behaviour to customers). She then tried to mock me as we walked out of the restaurant. I'm posting this to let other people know that this could happen them if they don't like a dish they've ordered at Koko. We obviously won't be coming back and it's a real shame that this was how the restaurant handled this as it was our first time eating there. It could have been sorted really easily but that's not how it played out unfortunately and we ended up having a horrible time when we wanted to go for a nice meal together. I've attached a picture of the end of our meal, showing that my husband didn't touch his food. 🙂

We ordered a poke bowl and another meal for delivery for the princely sum of 44.-. A delivery estimate of 60 mins was given. After 90 we phoned. After 1 hour and 45 mins the driver arrived and delivered - minus my meal. We called them again to be told it was busy. After two hours the food has still not arrived so I ate something else. Very very poor service for this price.

We ordered takeaway for two on a weekday. Had a Poke bowl and a set boxed meal plus seaweed salad miso soup and Edamame beans. All hot and delicious and probably one of the healthiest options around. I loved the Poke bowl. We paid 43.- altogether which is pricy but worth it

A Delicious Dinner at KoKo : kokobento eat different is a fine in as well as take away restaurant located in 9 Common Garden St. Lancaster, UK. Tucked in the heart of the City Centre, the restaurant specialises in Hawaiian and Japanese cuisine and offers an array of sleek dishes and nutritious combinations comprising fresh and super healthy food. The favourite of most clients happens to be Poke, one of Hawaii’s best-known dishes, while many prefer a selection of Japanese curries, that are full of umami and deeply satisfying flavour. It offers a wide range to Sushi lovers and the ‘Build your own Poke’ seemed like an interesting experience which we decided to save for another day. I opted for TERIYAKI CHICKEN BENTO which included Chicken Teriyaki, with a side dish of aubergine, courgette and onion ring Furai, Seaweed salad along with Rice and Miso soup. My son chose BEEF YAKINIKU BENTO which comprised Beef Yakiniku: BBQ style beef with a side combo of Mochiko chicken, Tori Gyoza and vegetables Furai, Fresh salad with Ponzu dressing along with Rice and Miso soup. We ordered fresh Orange Juice to start with and ended with Matcha Green Tea.

On a long business trip, staying overnight just outside of Lancaster, I happened upon Kokobento’s web site and ordered well in advance. Prawn tempura Japanese curry and Volcano rolls. Some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. I must plan more business trips!

For European tastes, this might be amazing, But for real Asian tastebuds, it is borderline offensive to be paying these prices for such basic food. Staff are helpful though.

Koko has managed to strike the balance between more unfamiliar cuisine, and that which most of us westerners are more familiar with - meaning that you can easily try out new things with that familiarity as a back-up! I would recommend the Veggie Katsu. A little on the pricey side, however, for a fresh and fairly healthy lunch, you can't complain too much at all! Finally, props to the one guy who seemed to be running all over the place and doing most, if not all of the work - from prep to serving!

Really good, tasty lunch. Perhaps a bit expensive, but the ingredients were good and seemed very fresh. It was a shame that the Poke came in a cardboard bowl even though we were eating in. Also, the glasses were single use plastic. Not very sustainable.

I had been wanting to go here for a while, last year I had given my daughter the option of here or Nami Sushi and she chose Nami Sushi. Which is also a very good place for good oriental food. The whole idea intrigued me with it's Japanese/Hawaiian fusion. And it was something completely different from the usual Indian and Chinese that seem to pepper every town in the UK. Oh my Gods it was good. I knew straight away that I didn't want something with chicken so I went for the Beef option. So did my daughter. We went upstairs to a small, cozy eating area. It was clean and friendly with comfortable enough seats. It felt really good up there and it smelt nice. The staff were very nice and helpful.I was honestly expecting a small fancy plate with it barely filled. Damn, I was wrong. They brought a tray that was filled with food from rim to brim. It was heavenly to eat. They gave you the option of either chopsticks or fork and knife. I being the uneducated man that I am opted for the European cutlery whilst my daughter deftly used the chopsticks. It felt that we got our money's worth of food because of how much it filled every receptacle. The Beef Yakiniku Bento that we both ordered had, besides the beef, there was rice, miso soup, deep fried chicken, pork, aubergine and courgette. With a little bit of sushi ginger to spice things up a little bit. Everything was exceptionally tasty. If there was anything I could criticise was the size of glasses that had our water. We both would have preferred a jug of water. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to everyone.

I had lunch here prior to an appointment in Lancaster. This was my second visit. I had a poke which is a kind of Asian/Japanese salad food bowl. I had mine noodle based with eel seaweed spicy tuna and a few other things. Loved it - really came together and was very healthy too. Complimentary soy sauce and wasabi on the tables would have been nice. At 12.- per person clearly a but pricy. Other than that - superb will surely come again. Probably the healthiest option for a light lunch in Lancaster as well.

Leaving a new starter on her own to man the poké bar does not feel like a winning move. My partner enjoyed his poké, I’m still waiting for my hot food. Over 20 minutes since ordering. NOT fast. I’m sure the food is lovely, but the service leaves so much to be desired - we will not be coming back.

Usually when you have a Fat Friday at work, you end up eating pizza, kebab, or something equally artery-clogging that you know you'll regret as soon as you've finished it! But KOKO is totally different. The portions are really big and the ingredients are for the Poke's are fresh, tasty and and it leaves you feeling pretty smug about your lunch choice.

I had lunch here on a rainy day in December prior to an appt in Lancaster. I had a poke which is their thing - a kind of Asian/Japanese salad food bowl. I had mine noodle based with radish mango seaweed spicy tuna and eel. Loved it - all fresh and zingy and came together surprisingly well. Miso soup was good too. My only comment would be that for 14.- for one person excluding drinks its a hint pricy. Complimentary soy sauce and wasabi would have been nice. Other than that - superb

We love Asian food and were delighted to find this eatery in Lancaster as we were only visiting for lunch after taking a campus tour around the university. Very friendly welcome from the moment we stepped in through the door and the place looked very clean. We went upstairs and found a table and our order was taken quickly. We had 2 different donburi bowls (served with a bowl of miso soup on the side) and prawn tempura katsu curry - all were freshly made and delicious and we left feeling stuffed! If our daughter decides on the uni, we'll definitely be visiting here for lunch again! Excellent value for mony

I regulary go along here for a poke as it’s a great lunch! The only gripe I would have is the excessive use of plastic when eating in - bowls, cups, cutlery, chopstick wrapping, glasses - they may have a biodegradable source or a fantastic recycling system but it seems a shame especially as awareness of plastic is increasing. Hopefully it’s a short term reliance?

The title of the review says it all. We liked so much the Poke' that we have been three times in a week and we are eager to go back. Fresh products and large variety to choose from is a winning combination. The staff is also very nice and always smiling. And if the weather is nice, it's good to take away and sit in the sun. I would definitely recommend it -- we haven't tried the other dishes but they looked nice.

Both the staff and the food here are AMAZING. I have had the Mochiko chicken curry and the pokè (both so amazing.) Very friendly and efficient staff. Beautiful y cooked food. Had the chicken and ham hock pie, small portion as there was a choice of sizes, ample for me. Lime and ginger cheesecake was lovely, although the biscuit base was quite hard to cut. Breakfast the next day was a plump beautifully cooked lancaster kipper. Delicious. Overnight room very comfy with great shower and comfy bed
