We went for breakfast today (05/07/24) and had a lovely breakfast, the food was great, the staff were great everything was spot on but the price was eye watering, we paid over £44 for the two of us, we had a full English , avocado and poached egg on toast, two fresh orange juices and one coffee, it was very nice but I just can’t justify the amount so it would need to be a very special occasion for me to return.

The cafe is so beautiful inside, the avocado tasted brilliant and the service was wonderful.

Walked in without a reservation on a Sunday morning with family. Greeted with friendly faces, enjoyed some absolutely incredible coffee and although the food order was incorrect at first they changed it no issue and very swiftly. We are definitely planning on returning when we are next local

Took grandchildren for a quick lunch before an appointment in Harpenden. Lovely menu, quick and friendly service. Panini's were very nice, will definitely return and explore more of the menu at our leisure.

Having been to this restaurant twice in the past month I feel it’s justified in writing a review. Sadly I wish this place was better than it is and hope they can turn this around. I think the main problem is the lack of staff, intuitive staff who know to include teaspoons with drinks or straws for kids, little things that become quite tedious to ask for. Today there was one server and one other working the bar area. Just not enough for around 50 covers and a very extensive menu spanning, breakfast, snacks, salads, waffles, main meals etc. To be charged £3.20 for a flat Diet Coke clearly served from a large bottle is just poor form. We waited nearly 40 minutes to place an order and that was after asking twice if we could. The food arrived in dribs and drabs over the course of 12 minutes by which time the first served had finished before the last plate had arrived. One salad stated pomegranate, it was missing, they brought pomegranate syrup in a small bowl when we asked but this was an after thought. My son’s smoothie strangely had squirty cream on top which had a hair in it, as did one of the main courses. I observed the server skimming the top of a drink several times to remove something before serving. We didn’t pay the pre added 12.5% service charge, as the entire meal took so long, constantly trying to get the attention of the server for every small thing… etc sugar, butter etc. We just wanted to get out as in such a small environment the volume was excessive. If it was more reasonably priced it might be more justified, but it just feels like another restaurant unapologetically making profit over quality and satisfaction . I can’t imagine with that, it will last all that long. Swerve for Okka instead.

Waited a long time for drinks and food to come out, only to have drinks missing and the server took a order of juice and charged us for freshly squeezed juice when we did not ask for it. The food came out eventually and was ok but the lack of good service let us down a lot.

Absolutely lovely Mediterranean breakfast and other food looked amazing. Great friendly atmosphere and staff, will be back. Do give it a try !

Lovely atmosphere and well-intentioned service. They get the order wrong sometimes but very polite in rectifying it. Some of the prices on the bill don’t match the bill at the end e.g. the fresh juice has been changed to £5 on several menus but actually costs £7. The owner claims customers have changed it … on several menus? 🤔. Quality of food was good. Dog friendly.

The service was very slow. The food was delicious and so was the coffee but needs more than 2 people on a busy Saturday morning

I absolutely love this gem of a place to eat. This is my go-to place when I want a nice easy lunch and something different for brunch. So much good stuff on the menu I'm not quite sure where to begin but I've uploaded a couple of photographs of my last trip on Sunday and all I can say it was yummy. Extremely reasonably priced in this day and age and this is my fourth time to this little gem and I've never been disappointed. Give it a go you'll love it. Approximate bill came to £26 and that included tea and coffee service charge.

Maybe I was lucky, but thank you for the breakfast I deserved. The atmosphere, the spot, the level of noise, people around, the amount of food, its freshness, and time it has been cooked, it was all right for me. Thank you.

Food was disappointing. Couscous had a suspicious taste. The place is really nice and the service was ok, but the food is not really worth.

This place is amazing! We had tried the restaurant before and the service was so slow. But now this is a cafe the service has definitely improved. Best place for breakfast/brunch. Food is of such a high quality. I went with my mum for breakfast a few weeks ago and was so impressed that I took my husband and children this morning. Everyone enjoyed it. Thank you Ali for your hospitality and looking after us so well. Will be going back there gain soon with my mum :-)

Nonna's Cafe is a charming Italian restaurant with delicious food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Went for dinner with family food quality was poor, salty portions are small, one dish we ordered had under cooked chicken complained and they changed it , bad customer service waited long for the replacement meal as we all finished they messed up my starter meal saying it was old and made in the morning very bad experience, definitely don’t recommend and wont ever go back rubbish! Dont bother if you want a bad stomach.

First time visit and had a wonderful breakfast with the family. Cosy restaurant, light and airy and fantastic well priced food. Service was a little on the slow side, but overall enjoyed the experience.

Our experience was not as good as it should’ve been. The waitresses were not professional. One of the waitresses had stained trousers and her hair was not tight up as it should’ve been. The attitude was not bad, but not good either. We ordered two teas one mint and one English breakfast, my friend initially ordered a mint tea but she got a green tea with no sugar and no tea spoon. I would suggest you look for another place to have a tea or a breakfast.

They are very expensive food and the place is not worth this price

Best dish was the houmous by far. Aubergine dip was really slimy. Signature main course was really disappointing. Cost over £100 for 2 people and 3 drinks.

West End cuisine without the hassle ULEZ or the trains. The food was excellent; authentic dishes, skilfully prepared and exquisitely presented. The quality and quantity were quite satisfying. The service was good and quite thorough (would not commit to gluten-free offering before confirming with the kitchen). The atmosphere was quiet on a weekday evening. We travelled 10 miles to Kohan on a colleague's recommendation. If we lived closer we would be regulars.

The place is looking really nice. The food quality is really good. We had koobideh and Barg kabab. My husband had doogh and also hot bread. Everything was really good. We will be back again.

Fantastic addition to Harpenden. Have eaten in a couple of times and ordered a handful. Consistent quality, authentic and exceptional service. Filled up on a Friday night so make sure to book a table.

A great disappointment. Starters were OK but the saffron rice was dry, salmon overcooked. Pricey for not such a good meal. And it was cold in there. Sorry but we will not be returning.

I once ordered food from Kohan and was happy with the quality. But today I have to say was a huge disappointment. Ordered vid Deliveroo, And this is what I got for £10, two pieces of burnt Cutlet!!! Shameful

Very surprised how good the persian food is tasting in the restaurant and I was positively surprised. Will go now often as I love the food. Give it a go! Update on 13 November 2023: visited again today and found the good really tasty, AND they have dropped their prices so I will pop in often now

Ordered the salad shirazi and joojeh kebab for delivery and they were both excellent. Delivery was fairly speedy and food travelled well in containers. Will definitely order again and certainly go to dine in

I was excited to find a Persian restaurant locally, having had to go into London previously to get my Persian fix. The koobideh was delicious and among the best I’ve had. My husband really enjoyed his lamb stew which he said he’d gladly have again. We asked for delivery at a specific time which they did. Portion sizes are generous. The only negative are the high prices but there is a 20% discount if you order online. I look forward to trying more dishes from the menu and eating in one day.

A little disappointed with the quality of food as the prawns were over cooked and very dry, although they were huge in size, I’m sure we’re good quality but a little wasted. The plate was huge but the portion was small. The rice was full of butter and burnt until crisps like a shell at the base. Not sure if this is how it’s meant to be, however the staff were so friendly and attentive. We are not rushing to go back. The toilets were very messy and overfilled bin.

Went with a group of friends who were disappointed overall, especially re value for money. The vegetarian stew had just 2 slices of aubergine, plus split peas and was the same price as the meat one which in addition had only 3 cubes of lamb. We had white wine which was £33 for a very average bottle and £11 for a medium glass of red wine. None of us plan to return, we all felt a bit ripped off.

Went for a work meal, was lovely authentic food, welcoming service and was very busy but a good atmosphere.

I know this restaurant has recently opened but they really need to get their act together. We ordered a delivery today. There are no vegetarian or vegan options at all although most Persian restaurants are ideal for vegetarian and vegan meals. We ordered a fish dish and a kebab dish. Was shocked by the cost as it was more expensive than our regular Persian restaurants in Hampstead. They delivered my husband’s dish but missed my fish. I had to call before my fish dish arrived. I was so disappointed as they had advertised it as marinated sea bass with saffron rice and broad beans and dill (£20). I have made this dish myself a million times as I am from Iran originally. There was no dill or Broad bean and the rice was bland. Fish was bland and grill tomato was hard. So disappointed that I had to call and tell them. Persian food is usually full of flavour. I will not be going back. We didn’t eat our food, it ended up in the bin.

We went here for a birthday dinner. We are big fans of Persian food but this was extremely disappointing. We ordered Humous and olives as starters, Koobideh and the two variants of Joojeh. First we got some wrap naans which were not heated. Not sure if they make them but traditionally Persian restaurants will bake fresh naan. In any event it was stale naan / bread. We asked for more and got a few more naan which were this time heated, whilst we didn’t ask for it, it was a welcome change but a few were overheated and were like crisps. The lamb kebab lacked flavour and quality of lamb was very poor. The chicken was also lacking in flavour and dry. The rice tasted just of butter. This being despite the fact that the best Persian restaurants like sadaf in London charge £12 for a bigger portion of koobedh with fresh salad and option of fresh naan v here where they charge £16 for a far inferior dish. We didn’t finish any of our food. I won’t get into the service. This restaurant is grossly over priced serving poor quality food. I will not be returning. They need a new chef and trained staff. I hope they improve.

Tradtionally but tastfully decorated with some excellent Persian food, ample portions but not so large as to stop you trying some mezze. Very friendly service and they are happy to make recommendations on the more traditional food which includes barberries, saffron and walnuts . If you are feeling less adventurous you can have your typical grilled meat and rice combination. We were too full for dessert but I am certain we will be back to give them a try, the honey and rose combination features heavily and I haven't had saffron ice-cream in years.

Staff can’t cope with a busy restaurant! We asked 3 times for a jug of water and it never arrived. They really need to get organised

I’ve been to a lot of Persian restaurant and never experienced one like this! The rice was burnt and hard. The meat (Chenjah) was bone dry and flavourless, hard to eat it was so dry. And then added £9 service charge to the bill! I would advise to stay away I don’t know how they justify £20 a meal for such dry meat

Delicious fresh tasty food presented beautifully. Only disappointment was that as a vegetarian there were no vegetarian main courses but the staff were very quick to offer and make me a veggie version of one of the meat dishes. Attentive and friendly service and the place was full - deservedly so. A great new addition to Harpenden.

I have ordered the burger take away. I got home and wanted to eat it. I received it without melted cheese and without red onion what says in the menu. Disappointed for the first time trying their food.

We went today at 6, and it was empty for a bit but filled up super fast! The food was delicious, great quality, and great presentation. We ordered mast khiar (and cucumber and yoghurt based dip) and kokoo sabzi. We were recommended to try another olive based starter , which we did, and honestly glad we did not miss that one. All the flavours were so exquisite and well balanced, it was a feast really. The mains did not disappoint either. Had the ghormeh sabzi and another lamb grill dish. The portions are quite big so well worth the money you pay. The desserts were delicious, nice and light, very refreshing, and we washed that down with some tea. Overall, an experience really worth it, as its a breath of fresh air . My first time trying persian food, and I was not disappointed at all! The staff are so so lovely, and accommodating, making you feel like they are personally looking out for you, which made it such a nice and homely atmosphere to eat! Definitely recommend it!

Wow the Gorme Sabzi wasn't as good as my mum makes, but it was very close to it for sure!!! As a guy that has eaten Persian food since I was a baby, then eaten in restaurants all over the place. Kohan is really delicious, and authentic, really excited to have such a beautiful restaurant here. I wish Kohan all the best, I will be recommending to all, and visiting many times I am sure.

Hi everyone I've just had some koobide and rice it was delicious. I loved it you will too. The prices are good too. Enjoy.

This place is a new treasure of Harpenden. The food is fresh, nicely served and tastes simply amazing. We dined there twice and loved the Mirsa ghasemi (starters), koobideh and Joojeh kababs with rice (main) and faloodeh/baastani (desert). The place itself is small but beautifully decorated, very family and child friendly, the staff are lovely. Prices are similar to other Iranian restaurants in London, they offer a 30% discount for lunch Mon-Thu.
