A little tucked away but once found, you are greeted with a sleek, modern Korean restaurant with polite staff. There is somewhat a feeling of elegance, thoughtful and maturity with the decor and utensils with hand wipes and accents of branding. Very attention staff where they are readily available to help flip you with your kbbq experience, be this grilling, flipping or changing the plates. Built in table grills with individual extractors, you know this place is set up for Korean bbq. BBQ sets allow you have a platter of things that are not individually available with the marinades simply tasty to compliment the dipping sauces. Everywhere seems to charge a bit of an arm for lettuce which is a must have for kbbq so we obliged. Although the fried rice portion is small, it packs such a garlicky taste that I wish it was bigger.

Excellent food, clean and very unique restaurant. There is a barbecue at the table and they cook the meat directly in front of you. But you can do it yourself!

This was our first visit to a Korean BBQ restaurant, and KOBA didn't disappoint! The service was excellent, each member of staff was helpful to our table. We actually ordered each item off the table menu with two starters, Garlic Rice, Seafood Noodles and one side. The food had flavour, and it was easy to work the grill because for each course a staff member came to assist you. The drinks were also flavorful it was such an enjoyable experience. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

THE BEST KOREAN BBQ IN LONDON( i have been to a lot)

Aunque usted puede cocinarlo para sí mismo en la parrilla de mesa integrada, ellos atentamente hicieron esto por nosotros. Fue una comida deliciosa y un gran servicio, aunque un poco caro.

Nos llevaron a este restaurante por un coreano que vive en Londres. Fue una gran experiencia. La comida era buena (la calidad de la carne era alta) ; el servicio eficiente. Es divertido poder cocinar la carne a su satisfacción. Los precios eran bastante razonables también. Recomendado.

Starting off with the positives. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and cozy. The atmosphere is ver lovely indeed. The staff were helpful and lovely. Whilst the the food tasted good, I found the price to be disproportionate to the taste. Especially the mixed platter, which was quite a disappointment in its size for its price point. That being said, the food did taste good.

Sad to say but left disappointed with the place… Have been to other Korean bbq restaurants and loved the experience, however this restaurant didn’t meet our expectations. We were the first ones to come, but the last ones to be served. Drinks were forgotten, had to remind them when we almost finished our starters. We liked chicken dumplings and Korean fried chicken, but the rest of the food lacked taste, the meat selection was of average quality.

Sad to say, but I would not recommend. Very pricey for very small portion… little to no atmosphere and genuinely a waste of time. £58 for the only available bbq set + £7 for lettuce/spring onion = £65. Korean Fried Chicken £13, not fresh and obviously reheated. Korean pancake £15. With 1 portion of steamed rice shared by 3 people, we paid £110 and all left the restaurant hungry. If you want a good Korean Barbecue, there is endless places to choose from in Central London. Kangnam Pocha, Pochawa Grill, Arang… all better quality, good vibe and well priced. My advice to the owners is to try the actual food being served, try other restaurants, and they will quickly notice a lot has to be changed.

Great food, good atmosphere and lovely customer service 😊

We went for New Year’s Eve and been there many times as we love the food. We didn’t have the BBQ as it always seems too much for us, but the set dishes are very tasty. We loved very much the atmosphere. It’s quiet, no music playing in the main restaurant and the light is dimmed, so it was a great experience for us. We will definitely go again and bring along some friends.

Super enjoyed, good fresh food and nice service..

The kimchi has lost its flavor (it was stored incorrectly when it was not ripe to begin with) and cannot be sold, but the store owner is selling it without even tasting it. The kimchi stew is thickly sweet and the la galbi is just salty. (You can make it tastier than this with just soy sauce and sugar.) Not much to do

Un servicio horrible. Llegué 45 minutos después que mis amigos lo hicieron, y 2 de ellos todavía no habían sido atendidos. Tardaron años en venir a mí por encargo y todo tardó años en llegar. Pero esto fue solo el comienzo: 1 . Aunque mi comida llegó unos 45 minutos después, mis dos amigos todavía no recibieron nada. Cuando detuvieron a un camarero para preguntar, ella les gritó: '¡Ya viene! ' 2 . Su comida finalmente llegó y el tazón tuvo que ser mezclado. El camarero lo estaba mezclando tan descuidadamente que empezó a derramarse y cayó en la bolsa de la compra de mi amiga (que estaba en el piso al lado de la mesa) y sobre su nuevo vestido. 3 . El mismo plato mezclado vino con grupos de arroz quemados planos (parece que fue raspado del fondo de una sartén quemada). Cuando se lo contamos, dijeron que venía en un tazón negro así que se supone que es así. ¡El cuenco era de cerámica! 4 . Mi otro amigo que tuvo que irse temprano pidió una factura separada 3 veces media hora después, todavía nada. ¡Cuando finalmente llegó fue la factura completa, incluidas las cosas que aún no habíamos recibido! 5 . Una de mis órdenes nunca llegó, pero fue incluida en el proyecto de ley. Cuando pregunté por ello, claramente se olvidaron y tuvieron que ir a decirle a la cocina. Otra larga espera y nada, así que lo cancelé y les pedí que lo eliminaran de la factura, lo que hicieron. A pesar de esto, cuando les contamos sobre todos los temas después, afirmaron que me trajeron el menú y nunca pedí nada... ¡a pesar de que lo tenían en la factura! ¡Muy contentos tenemos una foto de la factura! Food was great, nice restaurant and friendly staff. Had a great experience however booking was for 8:30, we arrived on time and was told we would still need to wait for a table. All in all, had a nice time and would return.

The food is good, the service is quite attentive to help you cook. It is expensive for the amount of food. If you order a grill for 2, ask for a starter or you will stay hungry.

While the food was enjoyable, the service left much to be desired. Our waiter struggled noticeably with basic tasks, such as opening a bottle of wine, he had trouble even inserting the corkscrew which shows a lack of training. What truly ruined the experience, however, was when the waiter abruptly slammed the bill on our table after two hours, rudely insisting we settle up because "others were waiting for the table". This claim was clearly unfounded, as no one appeared to be waiting. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I’ve had, and I certainly won’t be returning.

Had a really enjoyable dinner here recently. Would recommend the KBBQ platter which is around £55 for two. Great selection of food and everything felt super fresh. Service was pretty good and ambience was nice

Pretty overpriced given the portion sizes and quality of meat.

This restaurant offers flavors that are even more authentically Korean than what you might find in Korea. The depth of flavor, in particular, is something that's hard to come by, even in places like Cheongdam, Gangnam, or Jongno in Seoul. I’m not sure if the locals here truly recognize the authenticity of these flavors, but I was genuinely surprised when I first visited yesterday. It’s amazing to find a place in the heart of London that doesn’t feel like a "Westernized" version of Korean food but actually delivers an even deeper, more authentic Korean taste.

La calidad de la carne era sublime. Teníamos un montón de carne picante de cerdo y costilla ojo de res. Los entrantes estaban crujientes y llenos de sabor. Nos encantó poder cocinar la carne a nuestro gusto. No puedo creer que este lugar no estaba más ocupado en un viernes por la noche, pero todo el mundo debe salir de la trampa turística y caminar un poco más lejos para llegar!

Ambience is good… but I thought they give side dishes free like in South Korea … sweet chilli chicken tasted good… however I expected more on kimchi fried rice it didn’t met my expectation. The BBQ items were very good and tasty… bibimbap is good… I find the prices expensive side… may be to location is making it more costly … also they serve it like fine dining… tables can be slightly bigger as the stove in center not having space to keep all or can keep some stackers one side so we can take one by one

Our first time at Koba. Food, service, experience were all excellent. I scored a point down on ambience because we were downstairs which was a bit lacking in atmosphere, more fun upstairs. It's also pretty expensive, easy for the bill to mount up without much effort!! But the food was delicious, our server brilliant and we would highly recommend and go again. And again.

Booked for 2pm, arrived and told our table wasnt cleaned yet, we are seated at 2.10pm then told the kitchen closes in 15 mins. Then told we would have a total of 40 mins to order and eat🙃🙃😐😐 This is not written on their website or on the book T&Cs btw WHAT A JOKE. Of course we walked out. This booking was made a month ago and was a total dissapointment 👎🏾 I was the one who recommended this place to my friend, and i wish i hadn't, its gone down hill.

Got ubereats from them and it was delicious. Ordered kimchi soup and kalbi soup - the portions were big and the soup was delicious! Still good to heat it up the next day for lunch :)

Great food, BBQ at the table. The only thing is the menu does not help you figure out what you need to make a meal. The staff helped a bit, but we felt with more guidance we could have chosen better. Happily go back there next time we are in the area.

Wonderfull place. Great food. Lovely experience. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good Korean BBQ. Small note for the service, it was great, but a bit more communication would help, we loved to handel the bbq on our own but sometimes the waiters jumped in unexpectedly and moved stuff around the grill without asking.

THE WORST KOREAN RESTAURANT IN LONDON I have never been so disappointed with the restaurant like this ever in my life .i went last sat with my friends 4 of us n the bill over 200£ which I'm not complaining .we picked n we paid fair enough but the money not worthy surely. 1st the service 😲 omg so Terrible. specially the young talk black long hair who took the order.she acted like she clearly dont want to serviceed us don't want to listen anything we say so rude attitude. all of them are similar they just make us feel really uncomfortable like we ask things for free . The portions is tiny n the price is not worthy.too expensive compared to order korea place.. Food quality same with every where else nothing special. I honestly say 6/10 The place is small n table all next together really not designed for bbq place. Horrible experience. I won't recommend to anyone else n surely I never ever be back again even eat free .

This is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Fitzrovia. They give you raw meats and veggies for yourself to cook on a grill. It is an interesting concept. The seasoning was good, however, nothing out of this world. The people serving the food are there for you but there was something missing: no explanations (for a concept that I presume that is new for most non-Korean people) and not really a friendly attitude. Just to clarify - they were not rude AT ALL; but they were not welcoming either. Maybe neutral and slightly annoyed of being there. As a client, that just doesn’t make me feel welcome. But well, perhaps this is just the way it is here. It is maybe a bit expensive for what it is. Therefore, I would say quality/price ratio is not the best. It was an okay experience because it was something new; but I highly doubt I’ll ever come again.

Booked a birthday dinner with my husband because of its reputation. However, we had the coldest reception and such unfriendly service (except one lovely lady). We had to look for a waiter to take our order and the food overall was okay. No effort was made to engage with the experience and no one bothered to address our obvious discomfort throughout. This unfortunately ruined a much anticipated evening, so we took a takeaway and left within less than an hour. We shall not be visiting again nor recommending…

I fell in love at first sight because the interior of the store was classy and clean. The LA ribs were more delicious than other Korean restaurants, so I kept admiring them. The sauce was pretty, so I tried to enjoy it :) The seafood and green onion pancakes were crispy and seasoned just right, so I really liked them. I was also impressed by the fact that they sold soju by the glass, making it easy to have a glass of soju. I think it would be no exaggeration to say that this is my favorite Korean restaurant in downtown London.

I enjoyed the food but asking for gluten free was not taken seriously by our server. I ended up glutening myself and not being well after the meal. The food was tasty though. I would not come again due to the lack of care for gluten free. The atmosphere was bustling and noisy.

So delicious! Came here for a birthday meal and it was such a treat. The drinks were delicious! I can’t remember the names but both were non alcoholic drinks, one was a ginger one which was lovely and sweet with a strong almost candied ginger taste. The other was a zingy fresh citrus. The flavours of the starters were amazing, really some of the best food so I’ve eaten out in years! All of the starters (a chicken dish and a prawn and aubergine dish) were so delicately balanced. And the sauces that came with the dishes were exquisite, very fresh and zingy, not like the typical sauces you get. We got the mixed meat BBQ for two. It came with ribeye, prawns, squid, pork, chicken and veggies. I enjoyed the ribeye the most very succulent. I love veggies on the grill and the sweet potatoes and pumpkin were lovely and charred by the end. The squid was very rubbery, most probably to do with the cooking. Probably not the best quality meat or the most tasty but for the price and variety it was decent. The experience of the BBQ is fun and nice to do yourself. We also had the fried rice which again was lovely and balanced in flavour, had the kimichi flavour come through but it wasn’t over powering and you could taste the meatiness of the pork without it being greasy. We sat at the bar and what a great choice, it really added to the experience. The staff were really attentive and regularly checked on the BBQ but it was just the right amount and didn’t feel at all intrusive. I think it was the manager who was happy to talk you through everything and suggest the tastiest way to enjoy the meal. I’d recommend booking on the weekend as it was fully booked on by the weekend.

This Korean restaurant in London is, without a doubt, our favorite. We make it a point to visit three times a month, and our go-to choices are the rib eye BBQ, kimchi stew, and one appetizer. The beef quality consistently impresses us. However, what truly stands out is the authenticity of the kimchi stew—it captures the true essence of Korean flavors. Despite trying other highly-rated Korean restaurants, we keep returning to this gem. It definitely deserves a higher rating.

The service is very good, the food is delicious, clean, tidy, pleasant atmosphere. I recommend!

Delicious food and great service

I am always on a hunt for a good korean barbecue places, we are big fan. Koba is a slightly luxurious option, prices are on higher side. That being said the food was excellent and service a panache. We had barbecue selection which included rib eye, soy pork, veggies, squid and prawns. It came with assortment of sauces, but spring onions lettuce and rice were charged extra. The cuts were delicious. I found the 12.5% service charge a tad bit much after already inflated prices. Total damage was 75 quids for two people. I would definitely recommend.

Unfriendly place for Koreans to go,,,, The bulgogi was already burning, but they didn't pay attention to me and I ended up eating it all, but they took the full service charge ^^ The other foreigners at the table were very friendly..... The atmosphere is nice and clean ^_^

A friend recommended us to give it a visit. The fried chicken was not too bad, sweet, and crisp. But not meaty. It's fine as a side. The texture of the ox tongue was crunchy, but the taste of the tongue was light. The lemon juice covered all tastes of the tongue. The bbq sets were nice. Meats were tender, tasty prawn. The restaurant served the grill, and they did it for us. But sometimes they were busy that the meat was a bit burnt at the later time of the meal. The price was really fair. It's worth a try.

Quite a decent Korean BBQ restaurant in Central London. The BBQ dishes are quite nice, with reasonable price. Seafood / Kimchi pancakes are also highly recommended. The staff are quite willing to assist for grilling the food, but it’s sometime overcooked as they are quite busying to navigate between tables.

Been living in London for a year now and this is my favorite restaurant in the city. I’ve also been to SK and have had kimchi jiggae at probably 15+ restaurants there and this is still the best kimchi jiggae I’ve ever had

For those that love the IT Crowd British tv series. These streets were used for filming locations and you will see koba restaurant in It crowds series 4 episode 2 called final coundown (10mins and 36 seconds in). Roy rides on a bike with cleaning equipment and ends up chasing his old college buddy Alistair through the street.

Food tasted really good. All the meat left me wanting more. Only slight complain was when waitress helped us to grill the meat, they often flip the cooked and raw meat with the same tongs.

Perfect spot for KBBQ, food is amazing and amazingly priced. Staff are super friendly

It was a while since I had my last corean meal and it was a first for my partner and here we land and Koba. The minimalist setting may be a set back but it’s only added value to help a client focus more on the meal. From the staters (3 selections) to the main barbecue seafood. It was a complete beautiful well orchestrated meal. With a lot of help from the floor manager ( by the way we were seated at the bar near the entrance which is way nicer than inside) with the barbecue and the slicing and the explanation it was a very satisfying experience. Trust your staff. They know their product and they can help you although they tend to be be a bit hasty like they want to be done with you and have to next client fill in your place ! Eat to your heat and your stomach’s delight the deserts aren’t up to the meals’ level. So you can stop there without any regret. It’s not a good experience it’s a great one. Word of the wise don’t leave London without eating there at least one. Have a bowl of soup on my behalf! Cheers!

Overpriced for what you get. We weren't greeted upon entering the restaurant. When leaving, we didn't get a response for "thank you" or even a "good-bye." This is a place where you are likely to be ignored.. if you like to make connections with people, I'd say it is best to look elsewhere .. 😉

Can't recommend this place enough. The food is extremely sumptuous. The ambience is great for either family or friends.

I used to live within 5 minutes from KOBA and it used to be one of my favourite restaurants. Back then I would easily rated both the food and service 5/5. I had to organise a meal for my team at work and choose KOBA. We ordered several starters including KFC (Korean fried chicken), pancake, raw beef with pears and beef rib. None of these were outstanding, the KFC stood out above the rest. Was disappointed with the raw beef which used to be a favourite of mine. We also ordered several BBQ items but some of the food ended up getting a bit overcooked/charred due to the inattentive staff. Bib-n-bab was OK. I much prefer some of the Korean restaurants in New Malden. Won't go back here again.
