First time to Knoops. The staff were really helpful and knowledgeable in explaining the different types of hot chocolate on offered. We enjoyed their recommended hot chocolates and the hazelnut cannolis were delicious. If I have to find one thing to comment on, it would be even better with more comfortable chairs. Happy to recommend to others and visit again.

You first chose the chocolate from several options (milk, dark, white, vegan) and then type of milk (full fat, skimmed, lactose free, soya, coconut etc) and then toppings ( for example marshmallow) and then you pay and they bring it to your table. Delicious. Very nice staff.

Poor product with poor service for ridiculous high price. Almost £6 for a small cup of stay in hot chocolate. We said two times that it's stay in order and still they wanted to serve it to us in paper cups, despite the fact that we paid extra for a ceramic mug. I had 75% dark chocolate and the drink was both - barely warm and badly dissolved, which made the drink full of clogged chocolate shavings, like a pulp in an orange juice. You expect quality for the price you are paying - especially when it comes to something so simple like properly stirring hot chocolate for it of the right consistency and using hot milk. There was no quality in this experience. Will never visit again

Hot chocolate was served lukewarm. They would not budge on increasing the temperature because of “health and safety “. I won’t be back, or recommending Knopps.

Honestly this was the best hot chocolate I've ever had! I got the 34% milk chocolate and added chilli and a classic marshmallow. Loved every element! The melted marshmallow at the end was a luxurious treat and the kick of chilli was perfectly spicy. I can't wait to try more flavours!

Best hot chocolate in St Albans. I had their 70% Peruvian. It was dark, intense, and full of flavour. My companion has a lighter chocolate made with oat milk, which was perhaps overly sweet.

I recently tried the 100% dark hot chocolate (£5.95) from this place, and let me tell you, it's the only drink that can make you question your life choices. They say it's hot chocolate, but I'm pretty sure they just waved a cocoa bean over a cup of lukewarm water and charged me a small fortune for the privilege. I mean, it was so bland, I thought I was sipping on the tears of a sad marshmallow. And don't even get me started on the price! I had to take out a second mortgage to afford this liquid disappointment. As for the service, well, let's just say I've been treated better by automated phone menus. I did not get greeted and was looked at blankly in an empty store. So, unless you're in the mood for a pricey cup of water , this place is a must-avoid. You'd be better off melting a chocolate bar in your bathtub and hoping for the best.

Milkshake was liquid and warm so I went back and they said it was because the drink was near the chocolate melting machine. They said they would add more ice, but I said this would make it more liquid but the response was they can't reblend drinks. So much for "expertly crafted drinks"! They won't be seeing us again

Love that they do coffee as well as hot chocolate, milkshakes and iced chocolate! I had no idea where to start and what percentage of chocolate suits me best and laura was a massive help when it came to it!

A lovely location for a tea room, sadly we were let down by the food. The scones were warmed up to hide the fact they were stale and the jam was a cheap jelly. My son’s eggs were so under cooked the whites were still clear. My husband ordered a meat pie, we had to laugh as it was the smallest portion. Having said all that our waitress was lovely and very friendly. I don’t think we’ll be going back.

Me and my partner stopped to stay here for a night and I couldn’t fault anything! Really good food, nice comfy bed and staff are so friendly. There’s always a nice buzz to see when a team are having fun too! We wanted to thank the Manager Becky for looking after us, we came here a couple years ago and the place has changed so much.. for the better! The noise is really no issue as I’ve seen some reviews moaning about it.. All I say is don’t pick a room above a pub then 😂 Thank you Old Cock Inn. We’ll be back! Xxx

Went in at 5:30 stood at counter- only one at counter and clearly seen by staff but no greeting. Waited a fair while then asked if I could order a coffee was told in a dismissive fashion that I should wait. Walked out and went to Cafe Nero and got served immediately

S L O W service. Only one person serving most of the time, a queue of four to six and a wait of about ten minutes. Tables full of used crockery. They are simply understaffed; it’s the same nearly every time.

Lovely coffee and friendly staff but the toilet always needs a good clean, especially the bars to help disabled customers use the bathroom.
