Really great tradition curry house. Lovely food, generous portions and friendly service. A real gem - we will definitely return.

This was AMAZING!!!!! Best pomadoms I have ever had . Amazing paintings of tigers and lions (SUPER COOL) you even get chocolates at the end :) HUGE MENU and I recommend the chicken makhani it’s AMAZING

Met up with friends at knight of Bengal last night. We all had an excellent meal and great service and welcome from the owners. Busy at 7pm tells it's own story. Recommend this restaurant as it ticks all the boxes and a great experience. Try it folks as you won't be disappointed.

Great service & tasty food. Took me back to my Uni days, poppadoms and mango chutney (still not sure about lime pickle), delicious curry, and pilau rice! Nothing fancy, just good food.

Decided to travel from Bristol to try somewhere different but not too far away. The welcome was warm and friendly. The food was delicious and the staff were great.

Last Saturday my family of five went to the Knight of Bengal and three different main meals were ordered. The Alum family has endured great challenges due to Covid but have certainly not dropped the first class standards in the quality and taste of the meals. Every member of my family enjoyed their choice of meal. So encouraging to see the restaurant full. Cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant. Thank you Alum and Koffe. Mr.Jones

Food was OK, could have been better. Mushroom rice was unacceptably bad taste. Had to throw away. Other dishes were acceptable but can not recommend to others.

Good authentic food, we ordered 6 different starters and 6 different main meals - everyone enjoyed the food. Service great and really friendly atmosphere.

15 in our party on Rugby day and all our order came out piping hot, all served together. Wonderful service as always. Keep it up we will be back very soon.

This family run restaurant, tucked away in Caldicot, is fantastic. Traditional old style decor , which adds to the ambiance. With a menu serving tradition curries, but also great new dishes. My husband had the Tarka chicken .....he said it was the best curry he has ever had . (And we are very well travelled ). The service is the best . The special garlic nan bread, was off the scale ! My husband is still talking about it! Also great red wine and a nice Chardonnay. There are many Indian restaurants in the surrounding area, but this is one of the best around. Thank you so much , to the Brothers of the Knights of Bengal, for making our evening truly memorable, We will be back very soon.

Whenever I order a curry it is always from these guys never had a problem with my food neither has my family whenever we have ordered the portion sizes are fair and the staff are very friendly only down fall is the delivery time can be quite high also the price of the food but then again you pay for what you get!

Have been here numerous times and even though it is located a good 20 miles from home it's still worth a visit every time.The waiters are very punctual and I particularly like how they can suggest other meal options from things you have previously had.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food and especially those lovers of indian food.

We walked in to order a takeaway was told it was going to be about 20mins so went to another shop but the order was ready when we got back so was quicker than expected and the staff were very friendly and the curry was lovely as ever, just one criticism is that the chicken was in large pieces ( but lots of it) and there wasn't enough sauce but I suppose this was better value for money, would ask for more sauce next time. we had the kuala puri which is definitely worth having.

We ordered takeaway from here, was told on the phone it would be an hour for delivery. 1 hour 40 minutes later we was still waiting. I appreciate it may be busy but to be kept waiting that long is far from a accurate measure of time. The food was good not great, but we will be sticking to our regular Indian from now on after this experience.

This is the one Indian restaurant in Caldicot and has been there for many years.Unfortunately,it looks like the decor has never been changed in that time.Its fine for a take away but to dine there is no longer a pleasure.

We went as a large group unannounced and they managed to accommodate us all. The service and attendance to our requirements was excellent, the food was as good as the last time and they adapted my meal to how I like it.

Booked a table of 8 at 7.30 on a Sat evening they came with menus and took a drink order straight away we then waited 40 minutes and had to ask them to take our food order no starters just poppadoms and mains poppadoms came out but at 9pm there was no sign of the mains again we went and asked there response was you should have told us are food turned up at about 9.15 and was very good quality but to be honest by 9.15 I would have eaten a scabby dog!! They seem to prioritise the takeaways not the diners

We turned up drunk just before 11pm on New Year's Day so they had every right to not serve us, but they were incredibly accomodating, very polite and food was on the table really quickly. The chicken in my curry was a little rubbery but the flavour was really gorgeous, and the garlic naan deliciously garlicky. Thank you!

Best take away food around the area. Fabulous value for money and excellent customer service always. Our number one choice of Restaurants. Will be visiting again very soon with friends and family members to a welcome from all the staff.Keep up your excellent service.

Booked a table for a meal with friends and some of us had a beer or two. We each paid for what we ordered or so we thought. Unfortunately we trusted them to do the maths but looking at my statement gave me a real shock. They have double charged us. Talking to our friends we realised they did that to all of us, shameful! The food wasn't even good, very salty. Will never eat there again and definetely do not recommend it.Very dissapointed.

If I could I would give them 10 stars! Amazing food, the staff were amazing, so friendly and were more than happy to personalise if we wanted more garlic or spice and knew exactly what to recommend. I had the chicken tikka Balti and it was delicious, I couldn’t recommend this enough!

Fantastic meal I had a balti special with king prawn. my wife had a chicken tandoori meal ,both meals were outstanding. I have attached a photo of the wife's dinner highly recommended.

Pleasant enough meal on a quiet summer's evening. There's not a lot of choice for curry in Caldicot, so this where I went. On the menu they have the usual "traditional" curries along with some house specialities. I have one of these but tediously enough, I've forgotten what it was called. It was nice enough although nothing spectacular.

We visit here fairly regularly and are never disappointed. They have a huge menu covering a vast array of various regional dishes. Highly recommend

Standard curry house. Decent, tasty portions. Appeared clean. Paper napkins. Servers appeared slow and confused even though the restaurant was mostly emply.

I frequently visit this Indian and despite trying lots of others on my travels it is the best one I’ve tried. The mint sauce is excellent and hasn’t been beaten. Good service and good prices, a gem in Caldicot.

This is my favourite Indian in my local area they give me s warm welcome and great service. The food is fantastic with a authentic Indian taste and the chicken is very succulent. Well worth a visit.

If you love curry then you need to visit the Knight of Bengal, if you haven't been then you don't really like curry.

My husband went for his stag do there and highly recommended it so we decided to have a takeaway and I wasn't disappointed. 5 out of 5 for all we ordered !

Couldn't decide on whether to have a murghi-au-palak or dhansak so it was suggested that I could have a mixture of both...this never occurred to me but it happens that if they have the ingredients there they can do anything! Anyway ...the result? ...absolutely amazing! Perfect combination and my favourite curry ever (and I've had a few!!) will definitely be my 'usual' from now on!

If I could rate less I would. We have previously had takeaways so decided to eat in. In fairness we booked late in day and got a table at the front of the restaurant. Can't understand why they implied they'd squeezed us in as there was only a table for 2 further inside the restaurant. We were served fairly quickly but it went downhill from there. Constant phone calls due to takeaways and lots coming in to collect and was quite packed around near our table, very off-putting. Also staff were more concerned with dealing with takeaways than people eating in restaurant. My curry was very bland (chef's recommendation)!! Naan lovely. My husband enjoyed his curry but I find it incredulous no heating method used (couple next to us brought their own food warmer)!!!! Why I have labelled review as horrified is due to the fact that when waiter was clearing our table he was seen to take what was left of the mint dip and the accompanying onion salad and replace behind the bar (the dip) and the salad back in the fridge, I'm assuming to be used again by another customer as ours probably had been used before. We will never ever have another takeaway or set foot in this establishment again. You've been warned. I can't believe food rating is as high as a 4!!!!!

Lovely food, the Tandoori dishes are to die for. Lovely naan breads and excellent customer service. The takeaway service, although a tad slow, ensures that the food is cooked from scratch and piping hot when delivered.

Over the years this curry house has not failed to impress. Good food and service as usual. Can recommend if you want a nice night meal out (and not far from home in my case).

Absolutely stunning food!We had a booking of 10 people.Even though the restaurant was busy we were made to feel very welcome with drinks,poppadoms,dips etcWhen we had ordered our food every one different they all arrived together which was really nice.The food was presented very nice with herbs etc....I would give it a 10 Thank you.

The reception by the very friendly, attentive staff was a good beginning. We had poppadums and chutneys to start. The chutneys were quite sparse - disappointing.When the meals arrived more disappointment. The "medium" veg curry sauce accompanying my wife's biryani was bland and quite tasteless. The fish and sauce of my Bangladeshi special were delicious but the rice was dry and boring.My wife had to tell the staff there was no toilet paper in the Ladies.A lovely evening with family was spoiled by some disappointments. We will think twice before visiting again.

Always first class take away or eat in, we have been going here for 20 yrs or so,do visit here you will not be sorry you did, all the dishes are cooked fresh and well worth waiting for.

It was my grandson's choice to go to the Knight of Bengal for his 15th birthday meal. As always we were not disappointed with the service and food. We don't eat as many curries these days, however, we find that although we occasionally try other restaurants, they don't match up to the Knight of Bengal. I was even invited into the kitchen to talk about our meals with the chef. This has been our first choice curry restaurant for many years.

Regularly go here when we visit the area for the Wales and west horse show, and the staff are brilliant, and very easy to get along with. Often we go in a group of around 20, and with very little notice always find a way to fit us it.

We decided to try this local restaurant after getting fed up with our usual Indian takeaway. We've had over 5 (delivered) meals from here and each one has been prepared to a high standard. Portion size is very good too!

This s nestled in Caldicot with only a neon sign to tell you it's there, but when you find it my god what a fab place, the lighting and ambience fab, the food is stunning with some dishes I've never even heard of, true Indian cuisine at a really reasonable price will most certainly return

Excellent food. As good as Brick Lane. Jalfrezi was excellent and the Rezala was out of this world. Service was quick and friendly. Shame they don't deliver as far as newport! Food was so good that we bought an extra two meals to put in the freezer!

My first visit to this special eating establishment.My prawn biriani was delicious. The vegetable starter was equally nice,accompanied by a few glasses of Rose wine. Lovely atmosphere, music and helpful staff. Thank you for a pleasant evening.

We visited this restaurant as a group of 14, some of us had been there before. I in particular have been here many times over the years.The entire place is superb decor, cleanliness , hospitality, and cuisine. We were made welcome and given sufficient time to enjoy our stay, hospitality was excellent. A few of us tried the special menu which was first class, We all enjoyed the food , my lamb mint curry was fantastic thoroughly recommend it. Thank you everyone, fantastic night. See you soon

Me and my partner has just finished having an amazing meal here. As soon as you open the door, the staff are very warm and welcoming. The tables were very clean, and the service was spot on.The dips that arrived with the poppadoms, although had the usual mint sauce, onion salad and sweet chilli sauce, there was lime pickle, followed by a couple of chilli dips that were hot, however not hot enough to put you off.The starter and main courses were beautiful, and I had THE best coffee cream I have ever had to finish.Overall everything from the service and the food was fabulous, and I can't recommend Knight of Bengal Indian high enough.

I don't even know what to say, the food was soooo niceee!! I can't explain.. check this place out .. You can't go wrong son!!!. FYI the mint sauce in there is the best ever.

What can I say? I knew it was going to be a fantastic evening when we got to the door & very politely were welcomed in & seated in a quiet spot in the restaurant. We had a starter & main with both being amply sized & the wait between courses was ideal. We were all very surprised at how reasonable it was when we got the bill at the end. If you are passing through you must visit this place, the food is so flavoursome & the service excellent.

The people were really welcoming, everything about the meal was really nice, the service was really good, definitely recommend people to come here.

My boyfriend and I were staying in the area at the Brooklands Motel and they recommended either the local pub/inn or this restaurant for dinner. We passed the Inn but they had finished serving early as not enough custom (their loss, our gain) and we walked that bit further to find the Knight of Bengal. And I am glad we did!! I am a Londoner now living in West Wales and, sadly, decent Indian restaurants are few and far between in rural parts. So imagine my delight when we then found ourselves scoffing absolutely delicious Indian food at this lovely restaurant. Yum! Well worth a visit. If I was local, I'd be a regular :-)

Have been a loyal customer for over 2 years, mostly ordering take out from Knight of Bengal but also have eaten in the restaurant. Can't fault it, brilliant food every time. Always order from here out of all the local Indian take out restaurants.

Was taken there for a surprise meal, what a fantastic meal, plenty of choice, with plenty of fine food, the staff were great and you didn't need to wait for anything as they were at hand all the time.

Good sized restaurant with an interesting menu and choice of meals. Went with a group (New Years Eve) and all ordered variety of meals and starters. Starters came pretty quickly, but the main meal took some time to arrive - which was no problem really, as we were all chatting. The restaurant was obviously busy with diners and take outs,Meals arrived, at the same time, all good, hot and tasty, as expected.Good tasty food, but I have found a variance in the taste of regular choices, sometimes sweeter, sometimes hotter and feel that this should not be the case, to the extent that almost 'scared' to order medium hot food in case, this time, it is hotter.Other than that, good food, plentiful, tasty and worth a visit should you be passing!!

Visited here on New Year's Eve and although restaurant extremely busy, not only in the restaurant but also with take aways, it was an enjoyable night out. We had booked a table so no problem getting a seat however we waited quite a while for someone to take our order and for the food to finally come, however the wait was worth it. Food was excellent both in terms of quality and quantity. Staff were rushed off their feet but they were friendly and polite and I would certainly recommend a visit.

Haven't been here for years, read some poor reviews so a bit wary. Decor is very 'tired' and could do with redecoration to make it more tempting to eat there. Food was excellent though and very tasty not greasy and heavy like some Indian meals I've had. Tried the coriander chicken ...delicious. Husband had the fish and it came on a huge platter beautifully presented. Excellent service will come here again now we've rediscovered it!

What can I say about this so called restaurant. Visited with friends, décor tired and dated and the food, oh the food. 6 different dishes for our party each one covered in a different sauce which was over hot, spicy and slopped over any meat, vegetarian or fish dish. You could not tell the difference between any dish it was so awful. The staff were not interested and rude. Avoid at all costs.

We visited the King of Bengal with our family and I was expecting a fairly ordinary Indian Restaurant as you might expect in a small town. But I was wrong. This restaurant served up the absolute best Biryani I have ever tasted in lovely surroundings, a great atmosphere and the staff were amazing, so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to what in my view has been an excellent find. We will certainly go back again in the future.

Wife and I called in on the 2nd May and have to say, had a great meal again as is normal - tope service, great value.This time however my wife tried one of the specialty dishes on the back page of the menu and declared, this was the best Indian dish she has ever had - the highest praise which deserves another review if there ever was a reason!Thanks again for the great time. A long overdue visit to this restaurant! We received a good welcome from friendly and helpful staff' It wasn't overly busy when we arrived - but began filling up shortly thereafter. We all had starters and a main course - which we preceded with a chutney tray and popadums. We could have watched our food being cooked if we wanted to. The bar prices were very affordable. The service was quietly discreet and efficient. My particular dish (chicken tikka marsala with madras sauce) was quite exceptional. In short, a most pleasant occasion made all the more better by the professionalism of the staff and the company of my friends. Thank you very much. Will return.

Had a sit down meal in November and a takeaway this January.Staff always friendly, service quick and food of a high quality. We arrive without bookinga nd even though it was busy they found us a space.Starters and main served piping hot and our drinks topped up during the meal. Food was full of flavour and the chips spot on.This is our goto Indian in the Caldicot area for sit down and takeaway food.

This restaurant is my local and i've yet to find a better indian restaurant anywhere. You get real chicken in the meals and lot's of it, The flavour in the curries is amazing! The chips are much better than the frozen crap you get in other indians. The Coriander Chicken dish is amazing and all my friends now ask for it everytime after trying mine. I have never had a bad meal from this restaurant and I wonder if the people moaning are your typical hard to please moaners. Whenever i am away from home and have an indian meal i am always glad to come back to Caldicot and have a proper indian meal cooked by these guys. I won't go anywhere else.

I cannot even rate these guys, the service was terrible, one guy extremely rude. Food was overdone, rushed and made to feel like we couldn't relax. I never normally complain or leave reviews, but I feel that strongly that I do not want anyone else to waste their money on this HOLE

I love this place you can watch the ches cooking through the window and their speciality dishes are really unusual and tasty, especially the corriander chicken ( served with a boiled egg in it).best to go in early at 6 when they open as they get really busy with take aways after then.

This is our local Indian restaurant and takeaway, and we love it. The food is lovely, not once have we had a poor meal .. And we've had quite a few.The service is great, staff are always smiling and provide good service.If I were to find a negative, I would say the decor which some could describe as gawdy but it adds to the happy atmosphere'

Waited over an hour for food we were really getting fed up, especially when the people behind us came in after and got served first. Food very average, but it was not expensive.

I don’t know why I’ve never submitted a review on this Restaurant, so maybe now is a good time to do so. We have been going to this place off and on over the last 8 years. To be frank, at times it had been distinctly mediocre. If that ever was the case then we would stop going there for a while. This is not the case presently, as pretty much every time we go there the food is good. In fact I’d say that it is the most consistent Indian restaurant in the Magor/Caldicot/Chepstow area. At times I have said that about the Blue Cumin in Magor and the Indian Empire on the A48 close to Chepstow. But at this time the Knight of Bengal is on top.The deco in the Knight of Bengal isn’t to everyone taste (very old school). So if you want to be impressed then the Indian Cottage at Penhow is the place for you. Unfortunately the food not good though. That’s a shame.We did have a problem a little while back at the Knight of Bengal with my wife’s meal. But the manager took it off the bill without being asked and gave his apology.

As a caldicot resident for many years, we have had some wonderful meals in the restaurant and as a take away! However, the last takeaway we had from there was a severe disappointment. Firstly one of the meals was wrong which at first we gave benefit of the doubt, it's an easy mistake to make. The other meals were awful though, the chicken was very chewy and the sauce to the korma was almost like eating sand, with absolutely no taste. Even the poppadoms tasted burnt and you could of knocked someone unconscious with the naan bread. We all were very disappointed and don't plan on eating there anytime soon as this was not the first occasion. Very disappointed as we have had many a nice meal here.

We ordered a delivery take away, (being lazy as we only live a five minute drive away!) and I can only say that we were disappointed when it took well over an hour to arrive. This wouldn't have been a big issue if the food had been hot when it got here, but unfortunately the curry and rice was lukewarm and the naan bread was the same although well burnt around the edges. Maybe people who go and eat in the restaurant will be more lucky.

We have been here twice now for a take away as it is the only Indian Take Away within 6 miles that will deliver to us, although, we have collected too! The portions are plentiful, the chicken or meat in each dish is plentiful and in fact, quite a lot. The flavours are delicious and the staff are very polite. Another Indian in the area who doesn;t deliver used to be our old haunting ground but thier portions have got smaller and there is always a wait for food there, in the Knight of Bengal this is not an issue, food has always been ready when they say too.Very good food, lovely, polite staff and great value for money too.

Continuous good food at a descent price. Only walking distance and no need to book, the manager will always fit you in (but does get busy obviously on Fridays and Sats). Strongly recommendation a visit

All I can say is after having a meal tonight I cannot believe some of the negative comments for this restaurant. Staff excellent The food was full of flavour!!I will be visiting again very soon I hope
