Indian Summer in Monmouthshire

Bloody hard to find, but well worth it , super friendly service and incredibly fresh ingredients, had duck curry that actually tasted like duck, and the fresh garlic was beautiful. Paratha was super hot and super fresh and fluffy. It’s like fresh immediately hot cooked street food but indoors. Love it.

Have been to the Indian Summer a few times and went on 4/8/23 with a mate. The food and service was great. Will defo be visiting again when next in Monmouth.

It was just an impromptu visit to an Indian restaurant while we were in the town during our holiday. After having awesome food and lovely ambience with soulful music, anyone would wonder how did we come across such a little gem of a restaurant in the middle of a small town. If you are in the town, highly recommend this restaurant for tasty Indian food. Note: We are vegetarian family, but we had a great number of choices to choose from in the menu.

We popped into the Indian Summer restaurant while visiting Monmouth for an early dinner. We were the only diners in the restaurant as they’d only just opened and were made to feel very welcome and the restaurant felt cosy and relaxing. The good was very tasty. Freshly cooked and not at all oily. Very flavourful and nicely presented. The restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol but we were directed to a shop 2 min walk away where we could buy a bottle of wine to have with our meal. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious tasty Indian food. Very friendly and competent staff. One of the nicest Indian meals I have had. It was good to be able to take our own wine. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming on a rather miserable night. I would recommend this jewel of a little restaurant to anyone.

The wife and I were attending a concert in the Blake theatre last Friday this restaurant opened at 5pm perfect timing prior to the concert. Lovely friendly welcome good choice of menu it was just perfect. The owner was serving us and he made great conversation. The food was very good. The first time for us to visit. Definitely not the last.

The restaurant had no atmosphere plaster boards leaning against the wall interior works being carried out,very cold just a little fan heater. Service was good food was poor both my wife and I was looking forward to eating here after looking at the reviews how wrong we were. Bot ended up with severe stomach cramps diarrhoea and feeling very unwell. Food constantly repeating in our stomach we left the theatre early after having had the meal as we felt so bad. Not good somehow food rating 5 beyond me looking at the kitchen. Stay away.

The restaurant itself is nothing to write home about - fairly basic - but the food is really good. As regular curry eaters, we can safely say this was really top notch. Beautifully seasoned and spiced food, and very friendly service.

Very small and cramped. Strange chairs, z shaped that tended to tip forward. No bar, this eatery is unlicensed. Poppadoms £1 each, condiments £6for 4 small pots. Nann bread £5, round bought ones instead of fluffy cloud like ones. Prawn Korma was fluorescent yellow with the tiniest shrimps. (The person who had this had a very bad upset stomach. Other members of the party also had dicky tums.) Service was poor with waiter given us dishes to be passed down the table, place was too small and very noisy. So disappointed.

This is a very popular unlicensed restaurant and quite rightly so judging by our experience. We discovered it after conversations with the locals who had nothing but praise for it. Finding it wasn't the easiest as it's almost hidden in a path between a very useful car park and the town centre. It is a very small restaurant and to fit you in they have got rather small tables which are quite close together. The room was a bit warm on our night which is never a good thing but we had a great meal here and the service was excellent. Something I have never seen before was a sign offering discount for cash so I suggest visiting the "hole in the wall" beforehand.

We - 5 friends-stayed in Monmouth for the weekend and decided to have an Indian on Sunday evening- having looked at all the options we chose this restaurant and were not disappointed. It was a little tricky to find - tucked down a small alley but the food was delicious and the service very friendly and prompt. Lots of take away orders going out so obviously well known to locals. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back if in area.

We have had a few takeaways from here to give it a fair chance but it has been average and inconsistent, it’s just ‘ok’ really nothing special. We always pick a ‘speciality’ dish which tend to have extra ingredients listed in their description. Peppers, fresh tomatoes or chillies etc. but each time they are completely missing from the meal. The curries are also over salted, the last 2 dishes we had were way over salted and one was unnecessarily sweetened. These 'special dishes' are priced between £10.50 and £17.95 and are radically overpriced for what you actually get. The ingredients seem fresh and the staff very friendly but sadly let down by mediocre complacent chefs.

Visited Good Friday from Cardiff. Read reviews and restaurant near our hotel and Savoy Theatre. Booked table for 10-15 ish. Called in restaurant totally empty. On a Bank Holiday Friday?? Looking at menu, notice no bottles behind bar. Asks for beers,told beers not served no alcohol. In a curry house??? Apologized and left very disappointed. Have given 5 star review, because we didn't eat here and it would not be fair to leave 1 star.

We were told that the Indian Summer was the best Indian restaurant in Monmouth and our visit did not disappoint. The quality of the food was outstanding and we would certainly recommend it to anyone who fancies authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant is small but intimate. Special mention to Shazam (probably spelled this wrong sorry) who gave us excellent service with a smile. Will definitely make a return visit when next in Monmouth.

Got a takeaway curry from here whilst staying nearby on holiday. The curry was one of the best I'd ever had in the UK. I went for a Ada roshan and my partner went for the Buna duck special. The Paratha was done really well. It was an extremely enjoyable addition to our holiday.

I was recommended this Indian takeaway by a friend and it certainly didn't disappoint. The curries we had were packed full of flavour and everything was cooked perfectly. Now a restaurant as well as take-away. Some of the dishes were stunning and honestly the best I have ever tasted., perfectly spiced for desired heat and very well-cooked. Compliments indeed to the chefs! We did think that the portions were a bit on the small side especially the side dishes. The decor is lovely (seats a bit strange) and because it is a small place the coming and going of the takeway service is a little irritating if you are after a cosy meal, but it is obviously successful as a takeaway and you can see why. The service was excellent and friendly and i would thoroughly recommend .

We called in to this small but friendly restaurant to book a table for later in the evening. We asked about the drinks to be told it was BYO (bring your own). We bought some drinks from the local supermarket and they put them in a fridge for later! The restaurant is small but the service was excellent. The fish curry was salmon and absolutely delicious, and the lamb madras that my wife had was equally as good. A great little place worth visiting.

Visited this little restaurant with work colleagues. We all had delicious food, huge selection of choices and excellent service! We were able to bring our own wine and got 10% off for paying cash. Prices were good too! Will definitely come back again!

The restaurant was tucked away at the back of the main Street. The service was super friendly. We had Manchu bhuna and it was incredibly tasty. I have to say that it was the best curry I have had. My husband had a balti -he always has baltis. He said his was absolutely delicious

The food was delicious....lots of choice and beautifully presented.At first we thought that it was just a takeaway but on entering we were very pleased with the decoration and set up...just a lovely small Indian.The waiter was very friendly and attentive....we were allowed to take our own alcoholic drinks and we could purchase soft drinks.We were just visiting Monmouth for a wedding but would recommend Indian Summer to everyone who loves good food....it’s excellent! I've just been to Indian Summer this evening, what an excellent meal. The waiter was a lovely person very cheerful and chatty. Would recommend it, we ate in but will definitely do a takeaway.

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel we were staying. It’s not licensed so you can take your own wine. It’s a small place tucked away behind the punch house pub. Nicely decorated and lovely and clean. They have a 5 star hygiene rating which is something I always check. Food was excellent

My wife, myself and two friends were staying in nearby Coleford so I looked for a convenient local Indian restaurant. I was sceptical of the perfect score reviews but I must say that this was the best Indian meal I'd ever had! Quantity wasn't excessive but quality of ingredients was to a level I con honestly say I've never experienced before - fresh prawns (not frozen), fresh chicken and lamb and flavoursome sauces. We had another great takeaway from here tonight. The food is superb and full of flavour. This is possibly the best Indian restaurant that I have ever used and I have been eating curries since the 60's ! No need to say any more !

We went here last night with some friends and the waiter was so friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable of the menu. They have lots of meat and vegetarian/vegan options alike and I was very impressed with my food (being vegan it can be both stressful and awkward to eat out, but I felt at total ease here and it was delicious!). But don’t worry meat eaters, my husband eats meat and was just as impressed. Highly recommend.

Visited on a Friday evening, our 1st visit to this new Indian, the staff were lovely and very helpful in assisting us with our choices, they serve soft drinks but any alcohol is BYO.The food was fantastic, very tasty and well presented portions were just about the right size. Strayed in here on a quiet Monday night after trying to find somewhere decent to eat in Monmouth, not easy. To be honest I was just expecting your standard Bangladeshi offerings but the menu here was a little bit different. All the usual stuff was there but there were a few things that were unfamiliar so I asked the owner what was best. He recommended Delhi Korrai a hottish chicken dish with tomatoes and peppers, it was excellent. A side of saag paneer, some rice and a lovely crumbly paratha were also very well executed. I haven't tried any of the other curry places in Monmouth, I probably won't bother. Really good.

Don’t be put off by the location or size as it’s the great food, value and people that count. We went here by recommendation and not disappointed as the food was just perfection. Please note to take your own beer and wine which saves a lot of money.

This place just keeps getting better. Dishes are beautifully crafted with superbly blended tastes and flavours. No excessive oiliness. Always on time with takeaway pick-ups. I've finally found somewhere that can supply a hot enough Vindaloo that still retains all it's underlying aromatic complexity. Great I'm salivating writing this.

This is purely a take away. However I feel that it is undoutably the best Indian take away in Monmouth. Menu ranges from the basic curries to speciality dishes, prices are reasonable & portion size generous. Always a friendly welcome.

This place is great, a really tasty and authentic Indian with great portion sizes. One of the best we've had in a while! The only slight drawback was a slight delay on our order but this was communicated and seemed to be because they are so popular. Well worth waiting for though!

Although this is only a take away at present it has to be the nicest curry house around this area . there are a few indian restaurants that do takeaway but indian summer is purely a takeaway the food is fantastic, and the staff are very friendly. personally I think this does the best takeaway food in Monmouth and good prices

Have been there for a take away a number of times. Well worth travelling from Ross-on-Wye. Food is excellent and good vegetarian choices. Paneer is excellent. Staff are very helpful.
