I came here earlier for a meal and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend. I was served by a lovely, polite and attentive young lady, I didn’t catch her name but she had lovely pink hair! She was great, she recommended menu items to me and was very helpful and so kind to my daughter. The other staff were lovely too. Will be coming back again!

I visited Salkaara with three friends last night, and I must say, it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. My sambar curry paired with coconut rice was absolutely delicious. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

This has to be one of the most delicious indian meals ive had in a very long time, and far better than some well-known and far more expensive chains. Great menu and everything Ive had on it so far has been first class. Not the usual high street curry by any means.

Superb South Indian food cooked from scratch.

Monday lunchtime. Very quiet but nice ambiance and mercifully cool on a hot summer’s day. Equally warm greeting. Pleasant music. Table for three. Star of the show was the Dhaba chicken, with a beautifully balanced and creamy tomato based sauce. Payyoli lamb was also delicious. I would have liked a few more veg and a touch more seasoning. Konku Manga Prawn was very coconutty and complemented the other dishes nicely. Absolutely delicious garlic Naans and chilli + coriander naan. The service was quick, professional and friendly. It’s so wonderful to find first class Indian cuisine in a beautiful little town like Chepstow. As someone who truly loves and appreciates curry, this was a great find. Highly recommended and many thanks for a memorable family lunch.

Delicious lunch here on Sunday. Fresh and tasty. Plenty of choice. Small plates available. Very good value.

Ordered a takeaway after reading reviews. Had chicken dansak, chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and plain naan. Food was delivered in 20 mins. Tikka was very watery had 4 bits chicken and tasted like tomato soup. Dansak was watery and was bland and flavourless. Very disappointing.

We decided to treat ourselves having seen excellent reviews from those visiting the restaurant. Delivery was 35 mins late after having ordered two and a half hours before. the food was at best average, my Husband's curry had six tiny pieces of meat in it. As the meal for two was £53 so not worth it.

We were out in Chepstow for food and drinks with friends on fri evening, Unsure of what and when we were going to eat we had not pre booked anything. At around 9 pm we decided upon SALKAARA Indian restaurant. There were five in our party, the food was Delicious .

Well- prepared dish made from fresh ingredients. You could tell they made their own curry mixtures. Absolutely delicious. Nice contemporary interior.

We made an impromptu stopover for food when travelling through Chepstow early on a Satirday evening. The Salkaara is located at a very prominent position near the town's central arch. We hadn't booked but were warmly welcomed and served by pleasant friendly staff with excellent tasty Indian dishes: the Punjabi Samosa Chat Starter was superb as was our Main course creamy cashew & coconut Chicken Korma with piping hot steamed rice. Top mark's for providing a great service.

We went for the first time today for a late Sunday lunch (birthday treat!). The service was second to none and the food was delicious.The surf and turf was to die for, every item cooked to perfection! The lamb and spinach curry bowl was gorgeous (the lamb was cooked so well it was tender and melted in the mouth). Not being a desert person I was 1/2 and 1/2 but took the plunge and am so glad i did! Tandoori pineapple with ice cream + chocolate samosas with ice cream and banana. WOW! If you're a wheelchair user like myself, no probs and the lovely staff will bring out a ramp. We'll be back! Chicken korma tasted and looked like mushroom soup. Not a typical Indian restaurant for food. Didn't do bhuna, vegetable rice or keema rice. Hope this was an off night and was a stand-in cook 🙄

Salkaara was our go to Indian and consistently great. Last order less so though, largely because it arrived 50 minutes late (ordered at 6pm and delivered at 7:50) and was pretty cold by the time it did. We also chased it up twice and we're told things that couldn't have been true.

Proper authentic tastes and cooking. If you’re looking for your bog standard curry after a few pints this is not the place. If you’re looking for real favour, presentation and a more intimate atmosphere this is the place. The food is so full of favour and care that a lot of places are missing. Staff super attentive, we’ll be back.

We had an absolutely wonderful meal here last night. The food was out of this world and service was exceptional. Would give it more than 5 stars if we could. Was the best Indian food we have ever had and we can’t wait to return. The lamb shank curry was incredible and cooked to perfection!

Quite honestly the best Indian meal I have EVER eaten. I have never been to an Indian and witnessed every person on the table eat everY last morsel of food . Portion size is perfect, not greasy , light and tasty. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant 🤩

Fabulous meal at Salkaara Chepstow last night we were a party of 10. Excellent friendly service, our dishes all came out together where piping hot and absolutely delicious. Can’t fault it and will most definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Really enjoyed our meals - lamb shank, a lamb curry and a vegetable biryani with a cute naan cover. Friendly service, nice vibe. A drier cider for the slightly discerning gluten intolerant customer would have been perfect.

Unfortunately very underwhelming... We had take away from here twice now, tempted by the amazing reviews. The first time we opted for vegetarian courses and they weren't really flavourful at all, so this time we went for meat. It left us pretty puzzled, as some things were outstanding and unique - amazing poppadoms, with dips that aren't artificially colourful and are very tasty; an astonishing fig naan... But then the main dishes were very small portions and looked like (literally) 4 pieces of meat in red fatty water... No texture to the sauce, very spicy (even the coconut dish)... Does not look appealing and doesn't taste of anything. Not the worst curry we had but not good enough to justify the price. We might take their poppadoms though and maybe just opt for the starters.

What a good addition to the lacklustre Chepstow food scene! The lamb shank was a generous portion and flavoured and seasoned incredibly well. The poppadums had three excellent condiments, none of that runny business you find in cheap places. Finishing with Gulab Jamun Indian milk dumpling was the perfect choice as it helped to cool my palate and was a lovely dessert in an of itself regardless. The only slight – slight – issue was the fact the staff began sweeping and mopping up while we were still dining at the end, which felt distinctly unrelaxing. Other than that, it gets my vote!

This is my favourite restaurant in town. Every dish I've had is full of flavour. The service and the food are wonderful. Well worth a visit

Had a fantastic meal here this week. As vegetarians we found a good choice and liked the fact that the main courses were available as small plates as well as full size portions so we were able to share a few. The food was well presented and very tasty, and not just the usual dishes served in most Indian restaurants. Service was also very good with attentive staff. My only criticism is that it was rather cold in the area we were sat, which was down from the main restaurant. We will be back.

We went here for a belated Valentines meal as I had heard good things, and it didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive from the minute we arrived. We had the taster menu, which gave us the chance to try dishes we would never normally pick and it was fantastic. Lots of variety in the dishes bought out, just the right portion size for each one and all very tasty. For the amount and quality of food it was extremely good value. The rest of the menu had a really good variety of dishes, that go far beyond the standard currys of your average Indian Restaurant, and I can't wait to go back and try more!

Great curry. Best you'll get in the area. My husband has a nut allergy and I have a dairy allergy. So we're quite annoying when we go out. But Salkaara has allergens on their menus making it super easy to order. Every time we've been the wait staff have been super attentive and food has been quick. We will keep coming back!

Really delicious Indian food! They also have a menu that is not a typical Indian takeaway which makes for some terrific new choices that I've never tried before.

Incredible curry, very different from other curry houses but the taste was simply stunning. We will definitely be coming back, cannot recommend enough.

Delighted to see this place has sprung up in Chepstow where the old and rather average italian restaurant used to be. One of the tastiest and authentic curries I have had in a long time. One of those menus that makes me want to revist regularly to try all the dishes. Some very nice touches in terms of flavours and presentation raise this way above the normal high street curry house. Highly recommended, very tasty and good variety of dishes. Staff very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Really nice bottle of wine to accompany the meal as well. Well priced, definitely punching above its weight.

Delicious and authentic Indian food, with an interesting menu and good choices for vegetarians and vegans as well as meat-eaters. Portions aren't huge so you'll probably want a side dish too, but prices are reasonable. Lovely friendly and attentive staff and delicious mini-dessert option. Best Indian we've had in Chepstow- we'll definitely return.

We got takeaway from here on a whim having not heard of it before, best decision ever! Everything we got (all vegetarian) was fantastic, not a scrap was left, with the fig and coriander naan, dal tadka, and the Khatte Baingan deserving of special mention 👏

Takeaway was spot on! Food came quick warm and tasted perfect all the right spices. Sibi over the phone was very helpful and sorted my delivery well. No issues, nothing I can fault. Will have to dine in next time!

Always spectacular food, and always 100% available at the time indicated. Perfection.

Enjoyed our meal, six of us in total and we all had something different, for me I had the Syrian beef and my wife had chicken Dhansak. My other friends had the mixed grill, the salmon (salad was very small ) the shank of lamb and prawn curry. The portions were smaller than we used to but haven’t said that it was more than enough, the naan breads and the rice were delicious. I will waitress was very attentive. To sum up I would say it was southern Indian fine dining without the price.

First time here New Years Eve and it was excellent. I booked based on a personal recommendation for a group and not one of us was disappointed. Menu was extensive with plenty of meat, fish and vegetarian choices. We ordered starters (small plates) and mains with various rices and Naan breads. Everything was delicious and all our party enjoyed everything very much. Service was excellent and very efficient. Only issue was the limited wine stocks where we could only get our third choice from the wine list. Thanks for helping to make our night a success.

Had a take away first week it opened, chicken dansak, was frankly horrible, so bad we literally threw it away. Tried it again this time for lunch in the restaurant, starters were excellent and very generous in size. Main course was again not great. I would add that I have spelt months in Kerela so am very familiar with South Indian cooking, so sadly we won’t be back.

Contemporary twist on Indian food, nice for a change from your usual Indian dishes.

Most of the food was overcooked, especially the swordfish which was stone hard. There was only one spice level, which was hot. There was hardly any difference in taste. Would not recommend.

Best Curry in Chepstow. Lovely.

The flavours were lovely, however it wasn’t very warm, and it was all so spicy that it spoilt the meal. We had friends down for the weekend and wanted to treat them to the new Indian in town. Even all the dips were spicy. One of the dishes we expected to be hot, hot but the rest were just as hot and it completely stopped us being able to finish the meal and ended up throwing a lot of it away. We were really excited to be trying this restaurant however will not be ordering again.

Gave this restaurant a go after wanting to try some slightly more authentic Indian dishes. It certainly delivers on more authenticity. But it probably won’t be to everyone’s taste. Lots of dishes on the menu I’ve never heard of so plenty of questions asked. Quite spicy. Chicken portions a bit small, but overall quite tasty. Music a bit annoying! ;) and pretty cold! Service great 👍🏼 Not sure I’d return but it’s great having an alternative Indian restaurant in town.

Great local spot for authentic indian food. Very friendly service too! Every dish we ordered is very recommended. My partner said it's the best poppadoms he's had in his life. For me, the tilapia fish is reaaaallly good, so soft and spicy! Aubergine and naan is great as well. Don't forget to get the dessert platter, it was an interesting mix!

We had such a great lunch today. Poppadoms and pickles, then four vegetarian curries with rice and naans. Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced.

My friend and I had a very nice meal last night. Onion Bhajjiyah to start very crispy and tasty. My friend had Konju mango curry, very tasty, I had Payyoli lamb curry, very tender wonderfully spiced. Staff attentive and friendly. Only negative was we found the spicey atmosphere when we walked in downstairs caught in our throats, I don't know what kind of ventilation they had in the kitchen. Overall we would both highly recommend, our waitress Emmuael was very pleasant, checked we were OK regularly. They also do takeaways and deliver , money off voucher when you dine.

Fabulous real Indian food with real spices! Nicest meat, lovely sauces and pilau rice to die for. Nan cooked to order, not warmed up in a microwave. Fab poppadoms, freshly cooked also.

Fantastic Indian with lots of options for vegetarians and fish eaters. Onion Bahjis were gorgeous with a tomato garlic sauce. I had talapia fish in sauce cooked in banana skin with seafood rice. Delish. Mum had an aubergine dish and naan. Good pudding menu, too. Service was fantastic. A great meal and fabulous service. We will be back. Authentic recipes, complimentasti to the chef.

We popped in today for lunch. We had 3 small vegetarian bowls which were absolutely delicious. The Nan breads are some of the best I have ever had. Exceptional food & service. Definitely going to be a regular restaurant for us.

Purchased a takeaway. Very disappointed with quality of Chicken Korma meal, pale thin sauce and not much chicken. Never seen nor tasted a Korma like it before ! Although the rice and Nan were great. Won’t be a returning customer unfortunately!

I was really looking forward to trying Salkaara Indian Restaurant in Chepstow after reading all the glowing reviews and checking out the menu. Unfortunately, our experience was quite underwhelming. The food, in general, lacked the rich flavors we were hoping for. It seemed like most of the dishes relied solely on heat and spiciness for flavor, leaving the non-spicy options tasteless. The garlic naan wasn't as garlicky as we expected, and felt a bit dry. The mint dip for the poppadoms was a standout, but that was the one thing that truly impressed us. It's painful to leave this review because the servers and staff were exceptionally nice, and we really wanted to enjoy our meal more. Hopefully this feedback can contribute to overall improvements in the future, as the location and staff give this place the potential to shine.
