A superb experience at this restaurant, with several dishes I’d not seen before on any menu and some of the tastiest Tarka Dhall I’ve had. Friendly staff, a cold pint of Kingfisher and superb food. Not sure I needed anything else!

We visited your restaurant on Saturday 7th September without booking. We have been many years ago but have since visited what was the Raduna. We wanted to see what the food was like so that we'd have a new regular place when on holiday from Benfleet, Essex. Must say that we now have a new favourite! We chose mushroom rice with a prawn Korma and one with chicken Korma, absolutely delicious. We did feel one of the staff could have been a little more friendly but other than that we had a very nice experience.

Had a wonderful time with our family last weekend for my nephew birthday. We enjoyed a lovely evening and delicious curry at monmouth it was a old a well restaurant i ever seen. Thank you

Second time around at this place and it did not disappoint. The food was so fresh and delightful, full of flavour. The staff, as before, very attentive and professional. You can see the passion they have for this place and customer satisfaction. The menu is very different with a taste to suit all the family.

By far the best Indian restaurant in the area. Eaten in here several times and had a couple of takeaways and never disappointed. This is one of the rare Indian restaurants that serve a beef curry and it is by far the best thing on the menu.

Last week i visited monmouth, I here me and my friend looking for a good food with lovely atmosphere, we visited one of top restaurant which is near 39drybridge street, jewel balti, There we had tasted starter fish tikka, chicken pakora that was lovely. At the time of main course one of their staff recommend me to try chicken tikka handi murug. Which comes with tandoori chicken normally that was on the bone. And its tast was awesome. I personally thanks to chef and the staff who recommended me to try this. Wish you guys visit this restaurant. Thanks

I ordered fish special and it was served beautifully, definitely would recommend it for seafood lovers! I loved the atmosphere as it was really relaxing and comforting. Its the best Indian restaurant that I've been to. Lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming. Love the menu. Murgh Lahore... delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic meal, the international Jalfrezi was incredible, service very friendly with great timing.

Disgusting. Horrific food. Abysmal service and Arrogance. Ordered a chutney tray but got no lime pickle. No large cobras. Starter was horrific 4 prawns and just bland yoghurt and sliced onion. No spice or taste to it at all for a spicy garlic chicken. I then asked for a chicken tikka balti light on the ghee and it arrived swimming in oil. Please see tge pictures. Inedible. My parter ordered the chicken tikka bombay sizzling which was most definately recooked chicken and was neither hot nor sizzling. We asked for some wedges of lemon only for two lemonades to arrive at the table. Complaining about the bill I was then met with utter contempt and arrogance from the manager. Completely and utterly appauling customer service and charged over 68 gbp and a complete refusal to remove the inedible ghee drowned balti from my bill. I am furious and disgusted with this place. Personally I will ensure none of my friends ever visit this appauling establishment. The arrogant and disgusting approach to customer service and complaint handing horrified me. There are much better indian restaurants in town. Some people aren't fit to run a restuarant and the manager is just that an appallingly rude character with a ego the size of a planet. I WILL NEVER BE NEAR THE JEWEL BALTI AGAIN. It's food is reheated and inedible and the staff are appauling. Updated following your response. Honesty is one quality I value far above ANY other. You are completely dishonest here. To recieve a statement that I arrived late when I hadn't booked shows you aren't telling the truth for one. Half drunk I don't think so. I had two small cobras and ordered a bottle of wine which we didn't even finish. I would think very hard about what you say here. I didn't book.. you lied. I wasn't half drunk yet another lie. I appreciate restaurants that work hard and serve decent food. I am a regular customer at the misbah I have been for decades and I also support the himalayan lounge. I gave you a chance on a mobday to see what you were like and i wont be back. Your food is awful. Your arrogance unbelievable and you also lie. You are decietful and on that basis unethical an amoral. You haven't commented on the chicken being reheated. I sincerely hope your lies deceit and dishonesty are seen by many. Appauling. Shame on you a shame on you and the chain you represent. Personally I think you alone will give your restaurant and your chain a bad reputation. I value many characteristics of which you Sir have zero...None. Good luck

This place is consistently great. Ate here 2 weekends on the trot recently and both times the food was delicious. The staff are very friendly too and even make us our favourite side dish which isn’t on the menu. Lovely setting too. Highly recommend.

Amazing food but service was a bit slow and forgetful. The atmosphere was nice however a very rowdy party was at the next table which made our conversation hard.

Jewel Balti is one of the best restaurants in monmouth, Newport. Besides it provide delicious food and nice staff behavior.

Had a wonderful night out with the family. We decided to visit Jewel Balti Monmouth as we are new to the area. We was surprised by the number of dishes there was to choose from. The waiters were very helpful and explained the entire menu to us with great detail. The food was delicious and the hospitality of the waiters was amazing. Definitely would go again when I get the opportunity and would recommend others to try out as-well. From the outside it didn’t look big but when you go in it’s massive.

Ok it was a wet Tuesday evening but we had to wait before being seated in an empty restaurant and the wait nearly an hour for our food order to arrive. The kitchen seemed to be prioritising take away orders. Food was ok, but not anything special and the prices were much higher than previous visits.

Fantastic Indian food. The plain naan is the best I've ever had. Not a cheap night, but well worth it for a treat. Plenty of meat, good lager, great menu, excellent staff. I used to use another Indian restaurant across town (we are spoilt in Monmouth) but not any more. As good as any curry house I've ever eaten in. Update March 2024. Over the last year this place has disappointed. Food not as good. On the last visit we were asked 4 times if we wanted poppadoms. Waiter interrupted our conversation to ask if our food was ok, rather than come back at a less intrusive point. We have gone back to our old favourite in town.

Very friendly staff. Great service . Lovely Atmosphere. Very Very clean place. 6 of us ordered a meal with extras and drinks. Came out 1 portion of chips short but in Fairness they arrived very quick... Too quick in fact as they wernt cooked ..Food was hot and plenty of it but there was that wow fact missing. Tasteless and bland..and we all tried everything. Set meal was suppose to finish with 2 coffees which didn't arrive and we didnt mention. We paid the bill of £165.00 plus a tip and left. They even opened the door for us and wished us a lovely evening.

Had a birthday dinner at Bouchon du Rossi last evening. I would like to give 5 stars, as I have always done so in the past. But no, not tonight Josephine. In hindsight, I shall begin enquiring when I make my booking ~ 'do you have any large table bookings on this evening? There were 3 large bookings which seemed to dominate everything from waitrons through to the kitchen. I have never been served warm food before at Bouchon. The chips were not up to their usual standard, they were hard. Vegetable side dishes and boiled potatoes were the only hot food of the meal. Sauce portions which used to cover the plate, barely managed half way. One dessert was ordered as a ' take home' for someone who could not come with. It was packed in an ice cream tub with some kind of film covering it. The profiterol eaten at the table, had stood around and was already melting when eaten. Including the owner's partner, there were 5 waitrons. It appeared that they were run off their feet. A lot of attention being required at the larger tables. HOWEVER, I will say, it's my opinion that the waitrons make this restaurant as much as the food usually does. They are always friendly, cheerful and work hard to make the customers feel welcome. One of the main reasons we return.

Everyone enjoyed the food and service. Fresh fluffy naans and a perfect dhansak. Good portion sizes. Bit pushy on the starters and side dishes - we know they exist!!! Drinks choices were a bit limited.

Such a shame this was my favourite place four years ago sadly been met with appauling service made to feel very unwelcome and ruined a celebratory night:( food ok but orders got muddled this felt as if it was my fault. Feel sorry for staff the stress they will get tonight.

Visited here with my wife, despite having a few in, the service is quick and efficient. Food is excellent and the vindaloo extra spicy delicious. We will definitely recommend and return.

The manners of the guy that served me was just lovely . In these times it’s rare . The food was fresh , clean feeling , not stodgy . Absolutely delicious. Even the “neon “ mint sauce . I couldn’t find the yoghurt / raita though which would’ve been a perfect accompaniment.

Despite not booking, they managed to squeeze us in a table of 6 on a Saturday night. A huge menu with masses of choice, but nicely laid out and with little explainers on some of the lesser known dishes. The wait for food was decent and the food itself excellent. We had a large variety of dishes between us and everyone was happy with what they ordered. The only downside is that it took quite a long time to get the bill when we had clearly finished and we’re ready to leave. Otherwise the staff we attentive on drinks and extras and the atmosphere was nice. Despite being a big place there’s plenty of small nooks and half rooms to keep it cosy.

I visited jewel balti last month with my family. It was quite busy but luckily we booked our table. I was fancy for a beef dish, so waiter suggested me jewel balti mangsho. I must mention that it was one of the best beef dish i have ever tried. Beef was so tender and juicy. It had some potato as well. Rest of my family loved their dishes too. I must recommend this place. Service was top class. Definitely coming back again.

We had a lovely evening at Jewel Balti last weekend. We visited for a family dinner, as we walked in we surprised to see how big inside is, such a beautiful restaurant in Monmouth. We tried their recommendation on their chef specialties, I tried Garlic lamb aloo, it’s a lamb dish, nice flavour, texture and lamb was so tender, very delicious. One of the best lamb curry I recon. Service was fantastic. We will definitely back again. One of the best curry house in town

We have travelled to India twice and have eaten at various Indian restaurants in the UK. We were travelling through Monmouth en route to Devon and decided to eat at the Jewel Balti. The food was considerably sub standard to what we are used to in Indian restaurants and the manage were intransigent when we commented regarding this saying we should not compare as every restaurant is different!, Our advice - please go somewhere else for your evening dinner

Got a take out, service was fine. When I got back I was very disappointed with the serving protions, 7.50 for the garlic King prawn and I had 2 prawns? Also my naga curry had 3 peices of lamb in. My partner had the butter chicken which was very nice, but overall this was not good enough. Nann bread was burnt. Just a shame I have had a curry from them before and it has been good.

Had a really good meal. Food was really good quality BIR (British Indian Restaurant). My rogan josh was just right. According to their reports my wife’s chicken saag Balti and son’s chicken jalfrezi were equally good. Based on our experience, we will definitely be back.

Having dined inside this restaurant a few times and been satisfied, we ordered a takeaway on Saturday evening at 6pm. The chicken balti had 8 slices (not chunks) of chicken in it. These were not marinated in any way snd were very tasteless The balti sauce in this chicken dish was visibly very watery with no consistency and was equally disappointing to taste. The tarka Dahl was also lacking in taste. Overall a disappointing culinary experience and the worst Indian cuisine we have had locally in years

Felt as though we were in the way. Rushed and abrupt attitude. Meager, overcooked portions. Bland, gravy like sauces. I have eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants and feel this is by far the worst food I have tasted. Lived in Monmouth for 10 years and was around when this place opened with the inappropriate sign in a very beautiful part of town. The food wasn't good then and seems to have deteriorated. My one piece of tikka ckicken was sliced into ultra thin portions, made to look like a decent amount. Shocking. A shame but myself and colleagues have made a decision never to spend money there again.

This place has amazing atmosphere with a huge place, great food, drinks and top notch service. We went there last Saturday as there very busy but our table was pre booked. I ordered chicken international jalfrazi from someone recommendation. That was one of the best jalfrazi I’ve had after ages. Food came on time as well. Definitely come back again. Nan bread was not cooked very doughy the chicken was like frozen chicken very small pieces not even chunks dry and very chewy, ordered chicken tikka, but the chicken was plain chicken very poor quality overall will not be going back

Arrived, and poppadoms arrived, starter OK. Bhriyani worst I've ever had. No taste, just a pilau rice and some chicken thrown in. We thought we would give it another chance after a chewy lamb curry but we won't be going back. Service is long and drawn out. Waiting over an hour between starter and main. Dining room was cold, myself and others sat in coats. Very disappointing.

We took some friends for a meal on Saturday for 7pm, the waiters were slow and not very helpful. We waited for an hour and three quarters for our meal to come. Mine was tepid and nothing special. Shall not be going again.

Best Curry that I have ever had. Amazing staff in a beautiful clean environment. 110% recommended. This fourth visit, the curry wasn't as good as previous visits. Tasted like cold chicken.slices merely added to curry sauce.

Work away in central London a lot. Always searching for a good pathia or dhansak and nothing in London compares to jewel balti versions. Excellent flavours

If you're looking for a really tasty curry. Look no further. I go on holiday in this area and every year I've had a takeaway from here. It's never let me down. Always tasty and flavours are spot on. Sauces are different and the bombay potatoes are to die for. Meat rogan was lovely and the chicken dansak yummy. Had it with a vegetable biriyani and veg curry between 3 of us and there was enough left over for lunch the next day. 😋

A truly delicious meal. The samosa was spiced beautifullt in our mixed tandori starter. A soft light naan bread, one of the best I ve ever had and beautiful melt in the mouth lamb. Staff were really friendly and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend....
