Stay away at all costs door staff are an absolute disgrace, aggressive, unwilling to listen and homophobic and enjoy being heavy handed. DO NOT GO TO THIs PLACE

My friend went to the toilet and had a spray of some aftershave (doop) not being from this country, he did not realise they were not free. A man came out the stalls and grabbed him by the throat demanding £2. Taking his glasses off his face. Marched him to the bar and I had to make a card payment of £5 else he'd snap his glasses. the staff were not interested and just took the payment. I didn't even get my £3 change. My friend, a 5ft 45yr old family man was literally shaking with fear.

My Boyfriend and I went To kiwis for Karaoke my Boyfriend had a couple of songs it was a good night until one of the bouncer passed us and my Boyfriend was singing in a deep voice the bouncer came over to us and he said no more drinks for you ,you had enough but we weren't drunk far from it and this bouncer said we are banned for life a few choice word was said when we left he was outside with the other bouncer and he told us we are not banned and to come back anytime the bouncer that tried to ban us has a real problem with people he needs to find a job that doesn't involve people

Hand dryer hasn’t worked for several months and there isn’t any hand towels to dry nor is there soap this is a basic hygiene

We visited this establishment after 3 drinks we were told we wont be served any more. Despite an issue we were threatened by the the door staff!!!

Was out with close family and friends after watching wales rugby. A song was played by the DJ which was very triggering for the loss of my Mum to cancer. The bouncer decided I was sleeping when in actual fact my head was down thinking about my late Mum and the trauma we went through. However I wasn't to be heard just disregarded. Absolutely disgusting bouncer he needs to have empthay total bully

Visited bar for a few drinks, staff were very polite , read some other reviews and found them unjustified in our experience been here numerous times and enjoyed the music and atmosphere. No hassle thanks for your hospitality.

WARNING Please please avoid at all costs unless you want to get beaten by the door staff for absolutely no reason please warn anyone you care about to stay far away. Mark my words in the future you will hear about a customer getting seriously hurt or even worse ,the door staff are brutal bullies who kick your legs from under you, stick their filthy fingers up your nose and drag you around and then lie through their teeth about what happened. How this place has a license is beyond me, you only have to read the horrendous reviews to realise how dangerous their staff are.

Absolutely shocked, glad I'm not a regular here... Went one day last week for a few drinks, a large, blonde curly haired woman on the bar was busy helping herself to shots while serving and appeared to be pretty well oiled, it was clear she was very friendly with an old chap sitting on the large table there, giving him free pints and self service whilst they both were (from what I could gather) running down other regular drinkers at the bar, her language was appalling and the more she drank the louder and more foul mouthed she became. Very Clicky pub, with rude staff and regulars. I'd rather take my custom elsewhere, but then this bar is rated 147 out of 147 pubs in Cardiff so I really should of known better.

I hope the owners of this pub considers firing the brunette bartender who was working at noon on the 18th of September 2023 for the following reasons: Incompetence-did not know what a black and tan (or a half and half) was even though they have Guiness on tap. Overcharging-12.50£ for a pint of Guinness? Uncleanness-small Flys 🪰 buzzing constantly around my beer. Unprofessional-they did not have Steinlager, even though it is a kiwi bar. There are a TON of bars in this area, and this place sucks comparatively. People probably come in (as I did) because usually Kiwi bars are fun. Not this one though, due to the Incompetent, Overcharging, Unclean, and Unprofessional bartender...who was downright rude, too. Spend your money at a better place, literally in any direction.

Don’t go here.. rudeness and assault on arrival by door staff. This is not a public house it’s a pound …. Absolute disgrace, come here if you like to be treated like an animal or less…

On Tuesday I went to see the Harry styles concert, so I planned to go to this bar after the show as it looked fun. I showed my ID etc, and the bouncer said to me it can’t come in. I questioned why and he said people on their own can’t come in. I replied saying that’s silly, I am not from round this area and have travelled to the area on my own. The bouncer then got aggressive and pushed me onto the floor. A second bouncer approached me & was then denying what just happened after I said why did you do that. I was told “I am on drugs” it didn’t happen. Avoid Kiwis, especially if you are on your own. You will get treated like rubbish and left in tears.

Absolutely appalling bar member ! I was a regular customer at this premises throughout Covid 19 and supported this bar member with several tips I went there last week and the bar manager told me to get out, grabbed my shopping and threw it outside in the middle of the pavement. The short security guard had the cheek to grab me off my chair and pushed me out of the pub with full force. The security guard then tried to push me again do I acted in self defence and pushed him back .The client called the police and make out that I was intoxicated and aggressive but that is a pack of lies as I only had a few drinks and because ,I have terminal cancer when I do have a few drinks which is not very often it makes me tired. These staff members called the police and told the police a pack of lies. I was put into the back of a police van but I was not arrested or charged as when I explained to police about the way these so called bar member and security guard treat the general public they listened to what I had to say and gave me a lift home to my front door. So for these members to try and intimidate a cancer patient aged 57 years old ,they never succeeded in their mission to get me arrested and charged!! The police will be checking the CCTV footage and this bar member and security guard thug who tried to physically assault will be arrested themselves as many more witnesses are coming forward as several members of the general public have also been physically and mentally intimidated by these thugs who work at Kiwis. Save your money and go to a better place then this place !! This place should be shut down and the bar member sacked along with security guard for the way that they treat vulnerable members of the general public Do not set foot inside these premises as the bar member James and security guard are very two faced and very rude

Visited with friends after a concert, can't fault the venue, the bouncers or bar staff but the female bouncer is another matter, stinking attitude, the way she speaks to people is disgusting!

Visited kiwis this evening, there was an older gentleman who was happily minding his own buisness and the female bouncer (think her name is sai) threw him to the floor for no reason and shocked all guests who witnessed. There was no reason why and as a guest this was shocking to witness as an old man was thrown to the floor. I hope the management review these comments because this is unacceptable!! Terrible for the bar star tnat they can exert this power for no reason. I hope management look in to this!

My experience of Kiwi's or lack there of Wednesday 27th July at 11pm. A female bouncer said, you can't come in you are on your own? I told her I'm visiting from Ireland. Since when is it illegal to be on your own?! She continued to refuse me entry. The previous two pubs with bouncers thought it was ok. As was the next one! Stay away from this place if you are a visitor on your own

I visited Kiwis for to finish our night out after going to the theatre. after and hour or so i walked outside to say goodbye to a friend and when i turned around to go back in i was told by a VERY RUDE, cocky, and smug lady that i was far to drunk to go back in. this was definitely not the case, there were other people outside who witnessed how rude she was and that she just seemed to pick on me for her entertainment. i wasn't even allowed to go in and tell my 2 friends that i had to leave or even get my bag. i then went out again months later and went back to kiwis not even thinking anything of the time before. i went in for around half hour only to be thrown out and told i wasn't welcome in the pub!!! I really hope the owner or some form of management is listening to these reviews about her. Short lady long brown hair. i have no idea how she thinks she is above everyone else, and what right she thinks she has to be so rude. it is not good for kiwis. i hope she is removed from her position and someone with a kind friendly face replaces her very soon.

What the hell is going on with door staff here? Very irate lady on door. Kiwis is my go to place for a bit of R&R. Great pub great music. Refused entry as said no more single guys!

My husband, myself, his daughter and her boyfriend thought we would go to Kiwis for a drink, I’ve periodically been going for over 30 years, always been a bit rough and ready but a laugh if there’s a crowd of you. We were greeted by a young rosy cheeked power hungry female bouncer who refused entry, whilst slumped against a wall eating a packet of crisps, stating her reasons ‘my husband was drunk’ my husband doesn’t drink. An absolute disgrace, a jobs worth, good luck Kiwis.

We popped in for a drink late afternoon on Christmas Eve. It was busy and obviously the local for a lot of the customers, you don’t often get that in city centre pubs. The staff were smiling and the manager took time out for a chat. Everyone was friendly and, the atmosphere was easy and welcoming. I’ve read some of the other reviews and our experience differs a lot, don’t listen to people who have an axe to grind. Kiwis has been an institution in Cardiff for 40 years, give it a try.

Avoid the arrogant security guard and the barman.I have been a regular paying customer at Kiwis for over a year.I was sat outside talking to a family member when I stated that I felt like ending my life due to the ongoing court case I am going through.Someone overheard what I said and informed the manager.Si came out took my drinks off me and informed me I was upsetting the customers.That is obviously nonsense as there was only 5 of us sat outside. If the other customers had an issue why didn't they speak to me.I never went inside the pub sat outside and never disturbed the other customers sat inside.I was talking to a family member of mine and why are people listening to my conversation?SI informed me that I am barred for life just because I am stressed out with everything that is going on . I have also been rediagnosed with cancer and currently on chemotherapy medication. I was told by the security guard that if I stood outside they would call the police and get me arrested. I contacted the police myself and the police have stated it is absolutely ridiculous. The security guard reported me to the police yesterday to try and get me arrested as the security guard gave a police a description of what I was wearing.I passed several police officers, police vans and cars . Not one member of the police force stopped me. That is how ridiculous and sad the security guard Si and manager are.Si doesn't like independant females and belittles them and takes the drinks of solo females but not once has she ever removed a drink from a male. Obviously discrimination against women and Sit and the manager should be ashamed of themselves. They need further training on how to treat females who visit the pub by themselves.The security guard tries to assume the females are drunk but that is absolutely false information and appalling behaviour towards females. If it was a male being stressed out that is perfectly fine but when it is a regular female customer then you are treated like dirt. No respect whatsoever for us females .. I am 55 years old and wasn't drunk at all. Definitely avoid this pub as they literally have no respect for regular customers who have brought a lot of business and profit to the place. I am so angry with the way I have treated when I am going through enough from my ex partner and being diagnosed with cancer yet again. Not everyone's live is a bed of roses and maybe one day the arrogant staff at that pathetic pub will experience the stress that I am currently going through. How is it that if I have cancer mentioned that I felt like ending my life. How is that a valid reason to Barr me making out I was upsetting the customers. Absolutely nonsense as I was talking to a family member and I never went inside the pub to speak to the other customers. I was sat outside with just few customers outside. The security guard and the manager should be ashamed of themselves. I would avoid this place at all cost as they don't respect long term paying customers and treat you like a piece of .... Don't bother wasting your money here ... Many thanks ...

He leído algunas de las calificaciones más bajas y puedo decir honestamente que no he tenido una mala experiencia en este bar, como se describe en estas reseñas.Las opiniones de los clientes pueden no ser del gusto de los revisores, pero todos tienen derecho a las suyas propias.El personal del bar es siempre amable y educado, al igual que el personal de la puerta. Los clientes son diversos y sociables. Hay una buena selección de bebidas a precios razonables, y en estos tiempos difíciles en los que he estado presente, se han tomado muchas precauciones para detener cualquier transmisión de la pandemia actual.Quizás me pregunto si estos críticos tienen un interés especial o algún otro motivo para su rabia.

Era una noche de sábado 12/09/20 a eso de las 8 pm Tuve el disgusto de visitar Kiwis en Cardiff. Teníamos una reserva de grupo, así que cuando me dirigí a la entrada, la gorila de la puerta estaba pidiendo la identificación de todos e insistiendo en que ella tuviera su identificación en sus manos una y otra. No llevaba guantes ni mascarilla y no se estaba desinfectando las manos, claramente disfrutaba la idea de propagar el covid. Cuando me pidió mi identificación, se la mostré y dijo de manera grosera: "Tendré tu identificación, puedo hacer lo que quiera", a lo que dije que no, no puedes a menos que desinfectes tus manos. Luego fue e hizo esto y después de dejarme entrar, bromeó con otro miembro de mi grupo: "No sé por qué quiere que me lave las manos". Fue tan grosera y obviamente en un viaje de poder. Ella parece disfrutar de querer difundir Covid 19. La gerencia debe revisar su situación, uno de los miembros más groseros del personal con el que me he encontrado. Evite este lugar, parece que no les importa la seguridad de sus clientes.

Ayer por la noche, la gorila que me dijo que se llamaba 'Sye' fue muy grosera y poco profesional. Ella no usó una mascarilla, pidió que tocara personalmente la tarjeta de identificación de todos y estrechó las manos de las personas sin no desinfectarlas después. Cuando se le pidió que se higienizara las manos antes de tocar mi tarjeta de identificación, me dijo "no ir a un pub si me preocupa contraer el coronavirus".COVID - 19 seguramente se propagará en este establecimiento ya que el personal no está siguiendo las pautas y no podría importarle menos contenerlo.No malgastes tu dinero aquí, ya que todo lo que obtendrás es un servicio basura.

Qué experiencia tan vil fue la visita a los kiwis. Despotricando, con la boca llena de espuma, gente ignorante sentada afuera escupiendo blasfemias y el racismo más horrendo que he escuchado jamás en los decibelios más fuertes posibles. Por favor, no vayas nunca allí, y si lo haces, presenta una queja al Patronato de Turismo. Ningún lugar público debe apoyar este comportamiento: la incitación al odio racial es un delito y debe tratarse como tal. Creo que el propietario se disculpó por el incesante flujo de lenguaje soez, pero parecía estar bien con el racismo. . . . . . nunca más. Camarera agradable, café decente pero experiencia completamente desagradable en un espacio muy inseguro. No puedo enfatizar lo horrible que fue tener esa vil invectiva gritando en mi oído. Asqueroso y la gerencia debe asumir la responsabilidad.

Cuando llegamos a la puerta nos recibió la amable persona de la puerta, nos explicó las reglas de la casa y nos llevó a nuestros asientos. El encargado del bar vino a tomar nuestra orden de bebidas y fue igualmente amable. De hecho, todo el personal con el que nos encontramos fue igual de agradable, en general, fue una muy buena experiencia, muy recomendable. Le agradecí a la persona de la puerta cuando nos fuimos y le dije lo buenos que habían sido todos.

No molestaría a los chicos. Huele a inodoro. No siguen las pautas de Covid. Definitivamente un terreno de cultivo covid. Servicio al cliente impactante. También puede pedir su bebida de Japón, que es el tiempo que tarda en conseguirla. ¡Jesús! ! El personal necesita capacitación sobre limpieza con la pandemia. Cuando un cliente se va, debe limpiar la mesa y los asientos inmediatamente, no al día siguiente. Que demonios ? simplemente, no te molestes en ir allí, honestamente, a menos que tengas más de 50 años y te guste el olor de un inodoro sucio flotando en tu dirección.

Well kiwis were do I begin.So it was mine and my wife's anniversary on Saturday. We were desperate to find a nice bar without the over spilling teens that had swampt cardiff on its first weekend open. Then we found kiwis and thought fantastic this looks fabulous. The female bouncer was lovely and kind and said she found a table for us. As she took us to our seat she told me it wasn't the best table and soon as another was free she would move us.WELL... she wasn't bloody joking she seated us at a table that was blocking a disabled toilet, which within 40 minutes I had done more up and down movement than I do in a gym session for people to use the toilet.Due to covid you cannot leave your seat. No one came to us for over 20 minutes or acknowledged we were there. Infact I could have done 3 laps running to chase the waiter. Finally the drinks arrived which tasted great 8/10 for drinks. But at this point to my horror I had started to get some form of eye problem from the smell of chemical mixed with 28 degree feces from sitting outside a toilet i can only assume its some sort of pink eye. We then asked to move as i felt sick because of the smell. The waitress said she would go ask and she would again move us soon as one was free. As we looked around there were well over 5 tables free and no que outside still we sat patiently waiting for a miracle. No one came back by this point a crowd of 50+ male divorcees had started some grunting mating callings towards us. That was the last straw my wife grabbed our things and we made a dash for the different table.We informed the barmaid of our departure to our new seat and she then informed me that they actually planned on getting rid of that table monday due to its placement! I couldn't believe we legit had been abandoned and had to find our own hygienic table. Absolutely will never return again.

Normalmente me encanta ir a este lugar. Entiendo que con las circunstancias actuales es difícil, pero Dios mío, el personal fue grosero. Había un hombre en la puerta, muy grosero, y una pequeña mujer caminando. Nunca había visto un servicio tan grosero en mi vida. Se les dice que no reconozcan a los amigos, pero que se les diga con tanta rudeza es otra historia. Definitivamente no volveré si veo a esos dos miembros del personal trabajando.

Pasamos casi todo nuestro tiempo aquí en Kiwis en un reciente viaje de 3 días a Cardiff. Qué fantástico establecimiento. Muy bien atendido por todo el personal y la seguridad. (No puedo mencionar nombres para la protección de datos). Nos divertimos mucho desde jugar al billar hasta ver rugby en nuestra área reservada de arriba y bailar a las 4 pm un sábado por la tarde. ¿Dónde lo conseguirías? Un grupo de nosotros fuimos a Kiwis después del rugby, el lugar tiene un gran ambiente, buena música y el personal excelente, Jack en particular fue muy eficiente y atento, recomendaría una visita, y esperamos que vuelvas cuando Cardiff

Mi suegro dijo que este lugar era genial para tomar una pinta.Ahora ha tenido muchas molestias por estas malas decisiones.El olor primero te golpea tan pronto como entras por la puerta. Es significativo.Un par de televisores con deporte y una mesa de billar. Excelentes bebidas a precios.No pude pasar el olor, por lo tanto, el puntaje súper bajo.No lo recomendaría

Tried to go to this venue on a Sunday evening but was told by door staff (Lady called Si) I’d had enough to drink! And apparently I was swaying. Totally untrue, just a bit of fun (me saying whoa karaoke and being pulled away by friends) anyhow despite my explanation in fact I hadn’t had much to drink at all and the fun was to do with the karaoke and innocent fun, she wouldn’t budge and certainly wouldn’t admit her first impression might have been wrong. I did very gently and in a dignified way protest as I should think I have a right to do do, as it was embarrassing more than anything else, and this fell on deaf ears, so I gracefully left without drawing attention to myself or the door woman in question! But I do feel I need to speak up for me and other women who may by chance like to visit this establishment.Basically my feeling is; women with a intellectual personality or wit beyond the norm will not be allowed into this venue. So any ladies out there who feel the same way as I, be prepared to hide any said self assuring confidence as this will no doubt be frowned upon, or avoid at all costs or alternatively take the risk of crossing this doorstep knowing and being aware of the potential chovanistic reactions you may witness!My criticism is that the door staff need educating in the respect of women and to take time and sense to asses a situation before totally overreacting to a typical jovial situation. It’s sad to see there are still women only used to banter from men, but when a women gives even a minuscule amount of banter it is frowned upon. Sadly this felt like some kind of unjust power trip. Tonight I felt completely deflated and let down by a fellow woman. I’d love to meet with her and talk to help in anyway I can to apportion some kind of aquilem into her thoughts and decisions. I can only assume her thoughts are imbalanced in some way and I do feel for her. My honest advice is please get a grip of yourself and be the bigger person; admit when your wrong; never frown upon a fun loving confident woman, and use your job on the door as some kind of distorted power trip, please see it for purely what it is. And moreso concentrate your efforts on those punters truly breaking the rules on your establishment of employment..This behaviour was totally unfounded and embarrassing. But luckily there were many another bar in the vacinity more than welcoming to me.But as I post this, it was still a let down and an embarrassment. It’s such a shame my personal experience as a visitor to Cardiff was very disappointing and a huge let down to women! Please managers/owners of this bar take heed and going forward respect and welcome women with courage fun and wit into your venue!

El pub en sí parecía estar bien pero muy abarrotado.El portero no tiene habilidades cuando se trata de problemas y solo son matones de mano dura.Uno literalmente arrojó a alguien que se rompió el cráneo y luego no dejó que sus amigos lo ayudaran a levantarse. The owner james and his manager paul sit upstairs whil making staff who are understaffed do jobs that are a health and safty violation and he sells crap beer

Whilst this place has been open a fair few years, in my opinion , it has never rekindled the charm and ambience of the original Kiwis.

Made the mistake of going here after spotting it when walking around Cardiff. After flying in from New Zealand we dropped in, wish we didn’t. Bar staff were rude and spent an age talking to and serving locals before we even got a look in. Wouldn’t recommend it to my dog. Shame I had to rate it as terrible.

Toilet's smell and it's not disability friendly pub they just rather bar people than understand them the manager James is unpleasant

Visité este pub en muchas ocasiones. Diré que anoche será la última! Oferta especial 2 una pinta. El marido ordenó 2 dio 20 recibió 6 de vuelta. Se lo compró a la atención de las jóvenes y ni siquiera lo cuestionó, pero le devolvió los 10 que ella colocó en la parte superior de la caja. ? ! ? !

Called in here after the rugby international. Very busy good music and a sound atmosphere, not that cheap. But had a sing song with the local got smashed and left. Would go back again

City centre traditional pub, reasonably priced but beer quality can be random, twice out of my last 3 visits have had to take my beer back, keep on walking and go to the Borough 200 yards up the street.

Average bar serving cheap drinks. Sadly not a patch on the original Kiwis. Great happy hour and a central location.

Cuando visitamos este pub, descubrimos que tenía alrededor de una docena de cervezas locales diferentes de las que nunca habíamos escuchado, y fue un placer mezclado, ya que algunas eran muy buenas, otras mejor dejadas en paz. No lo sabes hasta que lo intentes. Ocupado pero amable personal, y un entorno agradable para tomar una copa.

Visité el 6 de abril de 2018 para tomar una copa antes del partido entre Cardiff City y Wolverhampton Wanderers. El servicio de atención al cliente del personal era bueno, sin embargo no sonríe especialmente la seguridad exterior. Los baños eran pequeños y también sucios. El ambiente es genial con buena música. Tenía un shandy más grande que no sabía nada, todo lo que podía probar era más grande. No me apresuraría a regresar.

Popped in here for a few drinks to finish the nite,well priced and friendly atmosphere,would definitely pop in again on my next Cardiff nite out.

Siempre llame a Kiwis para tomar una copa cuando estemos en Cardiff. Hora feliz hasta las 6 pm, bebidas de gran valor, pero a un precio muy razonable después de eso. El ambiente es bueno y siempre puedes encontrar a alguien con quien chatear. Siempre buena música que se reproduce. El servicio también es excelente.

No soy el tipo de persona que escribe malas críticas sobre bares / pubs, etc., pero esta vez no debería pasar sin atención.

Llamamos para unos tragos después de un espectáculo en el Teatro Nuevo matinee. Quedamos un poco decepcionados porque han cambiado su 'happy hour' veces, solía ser de 4:00 a 9:00, ahora está entre las 10 am y las 6 pm, así que después de nuestro espectáculo sólo conseguimos un par de bebidas en el happy hour precios, £1. 90 una pinta de Carling, así que después de que tenía que pagar el precio habitual de £2. 60, no puedo creer que estos precios para un pub en el centro de Cardiff. Mucho mas barato que nuestros pubs locales!

Bien. . . Los kiwis siempre el lugar así que cuando el partido de Inglaterra, Gales se jugó en Cardiff decidimos ir. Mientras que el lugar estaba lleno el bar era un caos y el personal del bar eran claramente mosqueado con el volumen de personas. Conseguimos asientos tonget. escondido en la esquina y estaban demasiado asustados para moverse demasiado, ya que la planta era nadar. El personal del bar Wenasked si podían fregar el piso y estaba hecho en minutos juego justo pero no volvería. Probablemente no recuerdo de un tiempo ido necesiten alojarse recuerdos.

Siempre nos visita de kiwi para una bebida cuando en Cardiff, sus precios son excelentes, y la hora feliz, de 4 pm a 9 pm de Lunes a Jueves son ridículos! Siempre una agradable bienvenida, y normalmente tenemos charlar con otros clientes. Tratamos de sentarse en los asientos de la ventana y ver el mundo pasar en la calle Mary Street.

Mi esposa y yo llamamos a Kiwis después de trabajar en Nochebuena para unos tragos antes de coger un autobús de regreso. Llegamos alrededor de las 5. 30:00 y pidió una bebida. Pedimos 2 copas más una mentira más tarde litt, y mientras te sirven...

used to love The Old kiwiws. this one seems to have no atmosphere and just be a hang out for regulars.

Friends of mine often meet here. It is a good place to meet generally as there always appears to be some room to move about if necessary.Sunday does appear to attract strange people and undesirables though and later there is karaoke of local pub singers. Far nicer pubs nearby

My brother is living in Saudi Arabia and is currently home for two weeks. We decided to meet up for drinks, and chose Kiwis as we knew it would have been quiet. My brother and hid girlfriend got there first and ordered a round of drinks then sat at a table to wait for us. Me and my sister came in, saw them at the back and walked towards the table. The manager, who was sat drinking at the bar, turned around, stopped me as I walked past, looked me up and down (I have a lot of tattoos) and said "can I help you?" I said no thanks. He said "where are you going?" I replied I was going to my table. "are you planning on buying a drink?" (he was very rude and almost aggressive in his tone) I told him my brother was already here and had got a round. He looked dubious but let me walk on.He then approached the table and apologised for stopping me, but then said "we have all sorts of people coming in off the street, not drinking and damaging the place" then looked me up and down again. The whole table couldnt believe the way he addressed me. As if to say I look like I have been living on the street, which I believe was fueled by me having tattoos. This man has a reputation of being a very rude, man. I had never experienced it first hand until last night. Kiwi's was my favourite bar in Cardiff, I even had my surprise 30th birthday in there last year, which saw them make a lot of money that night, but they won't be getting a penny more of my money from now on.

after initial attempt to visit this establishment (being refused by door staff) went couple of weeks later on this occasion there was different door staff on who were much more friendly once in side found staff friendly and prices reasonable music was very good would recommend visiting this place now

Took an out of town colleague there one evening last week. Couldn't believe they were closing at 11. There was hardly anyone there. It was pleasant to sit outside on St Mary street watching the world go round. I used to love Kiwi's when it was in the arcade. Late rugby crowd, great atmosphere and heaving disco upstairs. Maybe the new Kiwis is better at weekends. I will give it a go sometime. The beer was good and reasonably priced with sport on the tv. Not too shabby!

Maybe it was just the night we went there but an extremely rough and dodgy crowd including a motorcycle gang and what appeared to be people wearing British Pride hoodies. There were two fights in the venue while we were there although quickly dealt with by the bouncers. The live music was good and the drink was cheap enough. Might have just been bad luck on our part the crowd that night but I don't think i'd go back just in case!

looks a good place to go with great sounding tunes only downfall is attitude of door staff.refused us entry because two of us had trainers on which would be fair enough but as we stood there outside for about 5 minutes we witnessed around half a dozen people come out with trainers on. Obviously case of if your face fits with door staff.

Good music, reasonable beer prices worth stopping for a couple. It was very busy for a Thursday night

First time visit a good night with some lovely voices and some not so good but that's what is about. Great atmosphere and staff.

I visited Kiwis last night and went to the bar to order 2 cocktails for me and my friend. We were having a brilliant night up to this point. I gave the barman a £20 note. I know it was a £20 because 1. It was purple and 2. It was one of 2 notes that I had in my purse. A £5 and a £20. The drinks were £7.50 so I gave him my £20. He then gave me change of £10. When I questioned him he said he was sorry but he thought I had given him a £10. He got the manager down and he told me that I would have to wait until the end of the night when they cash up and if it was over I would have my £10 back. Now, given that my taxi was due, I wasn't in a position to wait until then so I had to leave. I was told that they would ring me when this was done. (No call received as yet) I also had to borrow money to pay for my taxi home. Now my guessing is that the till was cashed up and it was obviously over by £10, or more if this "scam" has been pulled a few times over the night, but they decided not to call me as they were"assuming" that I was drunk and probably forgotten about it. Well I'm sorry to say that not only was I not drunk but I have not forgotten about it either. I contacted them this morning and they said they cashed up and the til balanced exactly. I very much doubt this as having spoken to a few people today and it would seem this happens a lot in there and other places in Cardiff. Please please please watch your money when you go in here. Spoilt my night.Had to give them a 1 as not option to give zero.

Still one of the best places to go in cardiff reasonably priced drinks great music to dance to upstairs an quieter for talking downstairs.

Muito bom!! O pub fecha tarde e parece q todos os bêbados dos outros pubs vêm pra cá! Muito animado, com banda ao vivo e garçonete passando vendendo jager bomb! Público acima de 30 anos na maioria. Recomendo!

We popped in here on the Sunday night for a few songs. It had a great atmosphere, the DJ was good fun and drinks well priced. Would recommend.

Went on a Sunday evening for karaoke. Fun lively bar with great service and great value on the drinks.

Cheap beer (rare in the center of Cardiff) and a lively atmosphere.Has live music some nights.A good place for a beer before or after a match - five minutes from the Principality (Millennium) Stadium.

Always a good atmosphere, brill for watching sport. Good selection of beer. Right on St Mary St, so a good pub when wandering around on a night out.

I went out with some work colleagues to this bar. The upstairs gets completely cramped when there are a lot of people up there due to the room being long and narrow - plus there were not many spaces to sit despite one half of the room being completely empty. The downstairs of the building is much roomier and there are more places to sit. Service and drinks were average as comparable with most bars.

a great evening out with lively music. Beers on tap are always good quality with clean lines. Service is good even at the busiest times.
