A pleasant Sunday morning after a business meeting near by.4 of us had a couple of beers and a couple of coffees lovely atmosphere. And a great dj Dubbu playing some great chilled out tunes with a tribute to Frankie Beverly from maze who had sadly passed away . it would of been so easy to stay and enjoy the relaxed warm friendly atmosphere. We will definitely return soon .

Staff all young and one in particular behaved as though everything was just too much effort for him. Brought us tea cakes and butter but no knife, just told us the knives were inside if we wanted them!! Well of course we want a knife to spread the butter!! On going inside to get a knife, there weren't any! We asked at the counter and were told they'd bring two out to us ... nobody did. We resorted to using a teaspoon! Coffee was put down with it slopped in the saucer and was barely warm. Very disappointing visit and hoping this was a one off.

I keep trying to give this cafe a second chance but every visit is marred by the awful music, loud and trashy which is totally intrusive. To make matters worse, I found out yesterday that the staff claim to have no say either in the volume or the playlist (both of which are set) - that in itself strikes me as Orwellian. So never again!

The place has high chairs so you would think that they would cater for children but no. My wife visited with her family, they checked the menus online and when they got there they were told that the menus online were out of date so what they intended to have they couldn’t. She then asked for the children’s menu and was told that they didn’t have one and would have to order of the normal menu. She chose beans on toast for our 3 year old but when they ordered it they were told that she could have it because the toaster was put away and they stopped doing breakfast 20mins ago. Her only options were £10 bagels or baguettes which we all know a 3 yr old will pick at and never eat thus wasting it. The staff were unhelpful and when we messaged to business personally they ignored my message. We like to support local businesses, but these businesses also need to look after their customers - needless to say we won’t be returning anytime soon

Lovely atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff in a great position near the canal. It has a small menu but certainly enough choice and the food was plentiful and very tasty. No children's menu but happy to adapt a toasty for grandson, Mum had the special Highland vegetable soup which she really enjoyed and me the nachos-perfect. I would really love to give this place more stars but I just can’t. Every time I visit I hope they have improved but always leave disappointed. It’s such a great location and lovely decor but the food is disappointing and the service is sometimes a bit arrogant. Last time we went we were told that they had no bread or bacon in which left an extremely limited lunch menu. We both left hungry. If they just looked at some of the other local cafes menu’s where you have to book a table for lunch because they offer better variety and good quality food. I’ve never had to book lunch at Kitsch because there is always loads of vacant tables, people just don’t go to eat there as we won’t again unfortunately.

I stumbled on the cafe while out walking a week or so ago and returned for lunch today. Great atmosphere, wonderfully quirky design and a great location beside the canal with lots of outside seating - just as well as it was a bit hot and stuffy indoors. The coffee was OK - nothing special - but totally let down by the food on offer - pre-packed sandwiches and wraps with a few salads kept in a fridge. The Caesar salad wrap on the table menu sounded appetising but when I ordered it at the bar I was pointed to the display cabinet in another part of the room and told to help myself from there. To be honest it would have disgraced the offerings in a 24 hour garage - a tiny amount of vaguely spicy sludge in a slimy chilled wrap. This is just not good enough Kitsch - you totally let yourself down by serving third class food. Customers deserve better. I would go back again for the atmosphere and location but sadly that's it.

My first visit, what a lovely “ quirky “ place . Brilliant seating areas , not just tables and chairs but comfy sofas which is always a bonus. Great outside seating, right next to the canal , very relaxing . Would of liked a more extensive menu but it was ok, coffee was good! Will definitely be returning, I can imagine the atmosphere would be great with music on a Friday night . There are other shops close by so parking is quite limited , we just managed to find the last space , may differ at times , this was around 1pm . No idea where else to park if we hadn’t of found that space, as cars were parked right up to the traffic lights on both sides of the entrance to the shops. I can imagine impossible to park on a Friday evening.

Lovely and modern decor with a very original and distinct vibe. Daytime is a great time to visit for a coffee and light bite. Went for lunch with a freind spontaneously. The place was dead apart from a swarm of unenthusiastic, incapable staff. No greeting, unclear layout to were the menu’s were. Ordered quickly, served by an unsmiling girl. Bare in mind no one else was in there, the food still hadn’t appeared after 15 minutes. When we asked where it was, we got mixed answers, with a ton of unasked for attitude from both the waiting staff and the manager. Felt uncomfortable, patronised and belittled. The food itself is VERY expensive for what it is. I would not recommend and we could not get out of there fast enough. This cafe is situated next to a huge block of council workers, it should have been heaving at lunch time. Now I know why it was dead!

Had the BLT which was nice but coleslaw that came with sandwich was tasteless and rocket was far too salty, don't really understand the concept of having to order and pay for drinks one side and food at the other, I've never experienced this before. Prices are a bit on the high side, in my opinion, prices shouldn't reflect on the location of an establishment. Also a smile wouldn't go amiss from the gentleman serving on the food side. Would be an idea to get table numbers as this makes things easier for your staff.

I took my parents here as a part of an Anniversary day out. We are a family that love good coffee. I dont know the area so took them there on the recommendation from Tripadvisor reviews that the coffee was good....if you want a good coffee DONT GO HERE!!! You will be very disappointed. Beans used were horrible and the lady making the coffee did not know how to steam milk or what a flat white was or how to make one. Should also mention that it was a little pricey but probably due to its lovely location next to the canal. That aside, everything else was really nice, it was a nice place, the service was slow but friendly and the food we had was delicious. Called in Kitsch after a lovely walk along the canal. Initial impression was good: a lovely cafe with a nice feel. However, then the nonsense started - it was 11.45 am and I was told that the breakfasts finished at 11.30. Ok, fine so what can I have to eat? Oh the lunchtime menu doesn't start until 12.00!!! What?!!! (Whatever happened to brunch?) Right can I order now please and a couple of hot drinks? Yes you can order in advance but you have to go and queue at the other counter to order and pay for your drinks!! After 12.00 our food was delivered, decent fish finger sandwiches but full of rocket which I don't like and certainly didn't ask for. Total incompetence. No business sense whatsoever

There’s a mixture of tables and quirky booths outside. We sat in the sun and shared some picky bits between us (nachos, lime and coriander hummus and pitta, coconut chicken wrap). All absolutely fresh, delicious and homemade. Menu small- ish but you want to order everything ! It would be a great place for a light lunch or nibbles and a bottle of wine.Apart from a Friday night, it’s only open day times. Only disappointment- no baby changing facilities? Very hippster in the decor, no idea what it is trying to be. Might be good as a coffee shop but not so much as an evening bar. Limited drinks, everything in bottles (330ml bottle £4), clearly trying to stock your non-standard range but at the cost is it worth it? One draft lager (which wasn't available a they had ran out). Soft drinks are expensive as once again are the 250ml bottles so buying an orange juice and lemonade ends up being about £4.00. Cocktails at £6.95 but during the night they ran out of ice and ingredients to make them. Expensive for what is it, location on the canal is okay but you are in a residential area surrounded by apartments to the point the residents look over their balconies in a disapproving manor which is understandable when people get a few on board.Qwerky place with odd decor but could be so much more with a bit of planning, understanding the location, market, customer base and attention to detail on stock.Would I go back, yes why not.

I met with friends for breakfast here. It was empty but when we asked for menus, we were directed to a nearby pillar to retrieve them ourselves. It was a similar story when our food arrived-despite still being empty we were told to get our cutlery from the counter at the back of the café. I ordered poached eggs on toast but it arrived as one single piece of toast, unbuttered with eggs on top. It meant I had to remove the eggs, butter the toast myself and then put eggs back on top-not quite what I expected! My friend ordered porridge which was beautifully presented but a HUGE bowl of it-far too much. The young girls serving in there were delightful but it appeared to be the owner, an older lady, who was not being very helpful to us. I returned a few days later to give it another chance and this time for tea and cake with some colleagues-this was quite average and not much choice of cake. I would not hurry back for a 3rd time.

I stopped off here twice in one day. Firstly on my walk down the canal path into Stroud, and then again on my way back. The décor is very rustic, which I found very appealing, and the location is just fantastic, overlooking the canal. The food looked very nice, but as I didn't eat, I don't feel I can comment further. But the staff were friendly and the coffee was good. If I have a slight complaint with this establishment, it's that it is quite noisy. So, if you just want to go for a quiet cup of coffee, this might not be the place for you. However, I still think this café merits a 5 star review because they tick all the boxes as far as everything else goes. I would visit again!

I think you missed an opportunity today Kitsch, as lots of potential customers, like ourselves, were hoping to watch the start of the Stroud Half Marathon, at 9am then walk to Kitsch for coffee and breakfast (which we did last year, but this year the start time was brought forward). As it was, we were there 40 minutes before the scheduled 10am opening time. Perhaps next year, for this one Sunday, you would consider opening earlier. We saw at least 20 other people disappointed too that they couldn't enjoy your hospitality.

Kitsch Coffee has moved across the square on Ebley Wharf and is in a bigger location, with a larger outside space overlooking the canal. I love coming here. During the day the coffee and teas are great and a good range of snacks. Perfect place to pop out for a chat and a coffee with family or friends. On a Friday night the place stays open and becomes a swish bohemian bar, with good wines and bottled beers. Great for an early evening drink or for meeting a friend in a chilled intimate and classy environment, which is a bit of a rainy in Stroud. Wish it was open on a Thursday night too.The only query I would have is over the buttery building outside, which doesn't seem to addd anything and seems to get allocated the slower members of staff. But a minor quibble and I think the move across the square has been a fantastic success

I pop in here all the time as I walk miles up and down the canal. It’s different, a bit wacky but a good vibe and it’s very relaxed. I have done mornings, lunch, and Friday open disco night and it’s always spot on. Food is nothing like anywhere else we go and it’s pretty good value for food and drink. The outside area is taking shape and on a hot day it’s great. So give it ago and get some miles in the legs up the canal as well! The only thing I would change is some more cake choice but what they do sell is always with a smile and professional staff.Well done all

Cool decor, awesome service and huge portions at very reasonable prices. We had sharer natchos and a Caribbean chicken salad... both perfect, no crappy ingredients and super coffees too. We will be back!

The location is great and it's lovely to sit out by the canal. Although the lunch menu is very limited, the food we did have was tasty. Food has to be ordered at the bar, which we did (ciabattas) but is brought to table. However it came with a side salad and no knives and forks or napkins. When we asked we were told by the waiter to get them from back inside the cafe. That's a strange approach when the prices are so high. I think it needs to decide if it is cheap and cheerful with the food offering, or aiming to be nicer. I would probably go back for a glass of wine or coffee and cake, but not for lunch.

This place is trying but missing the mark. Food is limited, wraps and ciabatta with a small range of fillings options. Staff are friendly but not on the ball, plenty of chatting between themselves ie not attentive to customers needs. The loo is a joke, is that trendy or poor design ?? It's got no ceiling a dodgy lock and poor portioning, very random if someone having a pee (or worse) reception would be amused !! With some attention to detail would be good, if serving proper food options but a little way to go !

After a stroll down by the canal, me and my partner came across this little gem! I went for the toasted marshmallow hot chocolate which was delicious! Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff too! Would thoroughly recommend!

The restaurant offers well-prepared British food at reasonable prices. Service is swift and friendly. There is a good wine list with plenty of choice at the cheaper end. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for as well as those after a good meat meal. The chefs clearly take a pride in presentation and desserts are better than average. This restaurant is worth the journey into the hills on the outskirts of Gloucester.

Very nice pub, we randomly stopped here because it was on our way to a ghost hunt in the area, and we are so glad we stopped here, the pub was nice and clean, the mother daughter team that run it was really friendly, and the food was outstanding, very well presented, great prices and yummy! We are going back in December and I’m very much looking forward to it.

The building and setting at Leaf and Ground is beautiful. I’ve been here before but never eaten in the cafe so wasn’t sure what to expect. We pre-booked a table as we were meeting a friend with their family, making our group 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids). They did charge £5 per person as a deposit but we were glad we could book a guarantee a space for our party. Service was a little slow at points, drinks took awhile to arrive and had to grab someone’s attention to order food. However the food didn’t take too long - it was also delicious and very good quality. I had the chicken parm which was tasty, and my husband had ham, egg and chips, both were very decent sized portions. I would agree with other comments about the kids fries being salty, they were fine to my taste but the kids weren’t especially keen (they don’t normally have salt on their food) - so it might be worth taking that on board for future. We then enjoyed a walk around the grounds after lunch (the kids loved romping around the woodland area). We then had a stop at the kiosk for ice cream/milkshakes, followed by a trip to the kids play area. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny October afternoon and we will be back :)

We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !
