Oh wow! Visited Kitridding Farm Shop as a result of our staying in a property near Kirkby Lonsdale and wanting to taste some of the locally reared lamb. Purchased a rack of locally reared lamb. I can honestly say, as a retired chef, that this was some of the finest lamb that I have ever tasted! Absolutely outstanding flavour & texture. We also purchased a couple of lamb & mint pies & pork steaks that were equally enjoyable. Want great flavoured food? Kitridding is well worth finding.

Visited on Easter Sunday .. what a charming little shop in the most beautiful setting. Only had coffee and cake but it was lovely and served by very sweet lovely staff. We took away one of the lovely handmade dice pencil holders and the best tea loaf I’ve ever tasted, loaded with fruit just perfect !! These little special places need every bit of support post covid - this place is definitely one to go for a lovely coffee or meal in the beautiful English countryside.

We visit here regularly as we’re lucky enough to be local. Friendly and nice atmosphere and the food is lovely. I’m a big fan because I am not a meat lover particularly because I hate the whole mass produced meat industry which doesn’t always treat the animals humanely. It must surely affect the quality of the meat. At Kitridding, the meat is obtained humanely - no transporting for miles - this results in top quality meat. Homemade goods available as well. Definitely recommend.

Simple cafe on a farm with a farm shop which is well signed from the Kirkby Lonsdale - Old Hutton - Kendal road . The choice for lunch was either Shorthorn beef or Swaledale lamb either a small , medium or large helping .. We choose one beef , one lamb - medium helpings . Both were very good , the meat +++++ . The medium helping was certainly sufficient . Deserts are also available , we both chose sticky toffee pud with ice cream . The large cafetiere of coffee was good . Altogether a very pleasant lunch with good service .

My son had the pie of the day and the rest of the family had a roast dinner. I was too stuffed for pudding as you get a really good portion. But others at the tables did and they looked delicious. You can also buy their produce and gifts from the shop. We bought some pies and I must say they are really good and definitely worth taking home. We sat at a table and noted there was only one other table of diners which, at 1pm surprised us as the advert stated ‘booking advisable as very popular’.After making our choice and waiting for some time I went in search of a member of staff. We were then told there was only half a menu on today ( never heard of such a thing) we were given the choice of pie and chips or ham egg and chips or crumpets! Being a salad person this choice was not pushing my buttons, therefore we pushed off never to return

Good menu and food was excellent. It would have been nice to have been told there was a wait of 30 minutes for meal but it was worth it when it finally came. Only problem was that by the time the meal came we had finish our tea/coffee. There are two slight improvements I would suggest. 1.) When having a lamb dinner a separate mint sauce in a bowl should be supplied instead of having to sort through pouches of sauce. 2) Not every one can take sugar and there was no alternative on offer.

Hard to find as lack of signs and the ones we did see had no distance written on them and were hidden in bushes! When you see the big sign in the field take the tiny road (as it does not tell you this) which is single lane only. The "road" into the farm shop is shocking- full of pot holes, gravel and bumps. Does not look like a farm shop/cafe but just like a farmhouse, which is odd! It's a small building to the right side, with only a few food items- cakes, meat and pies plus a few random gifts- cards, baby clothing, mugs. The cafe had around 20 tables. The huge fridge in the shop was totally empty on a Sunday in June, which did not look appealing.Expected the place to be much bigger with a lot more choice and the website makes it sound fabulous. If you want meat then this is the place but if you are looking for a more extensive range of gifts and products then I would say it's not worth going to find it, especially with the state of the road.

For a farm shop/restaurant which sells itself on its meat, the lamb served was a mush of rather tasteless and overcooked "roast". The vegetables were adequate and the soup unimaginative against today's palette, so the whole, together with rather crowded tables and slow service, puts it in the café rather than restaurant category. Staff, though polite and attentive, contributed little of the charisma one looks forward to at the traditional Sunday lunch, Noise from a nearby cold cabinet motor irritated slightly. But the prices match the quality, and the place was busy, so my review perhaps reflects my own preferences. The farm and gift shop are well laid out.Kitridding is in beautiful country but is best approached via Kirby Lonsdale or Kendal: not through the tight lanes from M6 j36

We had passed the sign to this place a lot of times, but this time we decided Breakfast was in order so thought, why not! We followed the signs but we could find nothing, just as we were certain we must have missed it and were looking for somewhere to turn round we saw another sign and arrow for it. We again set off following the sign and again thought maybe we had gone too far and were just about to give up when low and behold a big sign in a field but no arrow so we passed it thinking it was just a sign advertising it, however, in the rearview mirror we saw a sign facing the other direction so turned round and took the lane (may I suggest an arrow at the end of the lane so people don't go too far). Down the lane and past a small lake (with some men sailing their model boats!) you enter a small parking area and there is a building with the cafe and shop in. Smallish area but it was not really busy when we arrived but started to get busy as we left (I heard them taking telephone bookings for tables as soon as half an hour from the booking time so obviously some people know thats the way to go!). We both had the breakfast which was really nice, loads of bacon, two sausages, black pudding (a lovely one according to hubby), egg, beans, mushrooms and fried bread along with brown bread and butter. Coffee is not included so you can have whatever type of coffee or tea you desire. It wasn't cheap at £20.40 for the two of us for breakfast but it was really nice and somewhere we would return to. Big thing to note is that it is only open Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun or as hubby helpfully suggested "it's closed Mon, Tue and Wed! - luckily it was Thursday for us but I would have been upset if when finding it we found it closed (maybe the signs - other than the one on the end of the lane should make this clear).

The meals took about 1/2 hour to arrive at the table which is to be expected as all food is freshly made. My other half considers himself a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to a cooked breakfast and a Kitridding breakfast gets his vote for the best anywhere. Lots of home produced fayre including their own delicious sausages and black pudding. Everything you can think of is included - fried bread, mushrooms, beans, hash browns, extra bread and butter etc. All fresh ingredients beautifully prepared. Lovely farm shop and gift shop too.

Worth the detour from Kirkby Lonsdale. Open 4 days a week thurs - sun. Advise booking your table if you intend having sunday lunch as always packed often with burly farmers and locals tucking into Christine and Stewart's tasty beef, lamb, pork fresh from the farm. Cracking home made desserts, especially the banoffee pie! For an extra pound you can indulge in an EXTRA large roast portion..wow! Not for those aspiring to be slimming world champions! Of course before you leave don't forget to stock up with some tasty and succulent Kitridding meat from the shop, which is so flavoursome you will be back for more!

First visit to Kitridding farm shop and very pleased with experience.Took a little finding as its off the beaten track a little but as its a proper farm then thats to be expected.Had an excellent Sunday lunch with roast beef and trimmings.Staff very helpful and well mannered and we thought the food not overly expensive.Farm shop is quite small but well set out and very good butchery side.Definitely worth a visit

Have eaten here a couple of time and regulary use the farm shop. The farm shop is a real treat with home produced beef and locally produced lamb, pork and chicken. You 0can depend on the provenence of the meat. The butchery is open to the shop so that you can actually see what's going on behind the scenes. The cafe is nicely decorated and does good traditional Cumbrian food. The quality is good and I would recomend the cakes if you go for afternoon tea! The staff are helpful and there is a very nice atmosphere in the cafe and shopm Not cheap but then good food isn't..it is however good value The road upto the farm is a little narrow, but its not far from the main road so don't be put off. Parking is adequate

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
