Kith & Kin in North Tyneside

Now had a few takeouts from this place and have enjoyed every single morsel of the food. Haven't had anything savoury, the cakes/slices/flapjacks are wonderful and to top it all decent coffee. This is a hidden gem definitely my go to place when in Whitley Bay.

Regularly travel from gateshead to kith most weekends never once been disappointed with either food or service. The chefs are so consistent with both the presentation and quality of food they serve up .As for the staff at front of house ! Such a pleasure to be served with a warm smile and genuinely caring manner ,every single member of staff there are first class !!!! I have my favourites there but wouldn't dream of spilling the beans so to speak lol .If you haven't sampled this place its a must

So... I've intended to write this review for quite a while now.Friday was my third Visit for food to Kith and Kin (I've made a few cake and coffee stops along the way) and I partook in the chorizo and egg sandwich while my good lady had a dabble on a Ruben.To be honest I haven't stopped thinking about it since.Here is where I am at. The three sandwiches I have had at this little diamond are the best hot sandwiches I can recall having anywhere: Period. The bread, ingredients flavours all add up to an experience which is only negative in that at some point it ends and you have no sandwich left...My only question is - and I can't answer it is... is it too expensive.At £7.50 for a sandwich and the best part of £3 for a coffee you and your significant other are going to be spending 20+ pounds and that's before you've debated on a sweet treat. If you take up the sweet treat as an option you're probably looking at £26 for lunch which is a lot of money especially when if you've got a good appetite you might find yourself a little peckish afterwards.Like I say I still don't have the answer to this... it reminds me very much of Travolta in Pulp Fiction when he tries the 5 dollar shake. It's an incredible sandwich, probably the best... but it is still a sandwich.It's a place I will continue to go as a special treat but It's probably a little out of my budget to become a regular!Keep it up It's amazing.

Visited here recently for brunch and nit having been fir a while I can see stds have not dropped. We had sausage sandwiches with one accompanied with a fried egg all of which were very tasty. Accompanied this with really good Americans which came piping hot and so were not cold by time brunch arrived as can be the case in some places. Effective social distancing and Table cleaning were very evident.

Perfect place for lunch in Whitley Bay.We were lucky to get a seat outside, in the sun, for lunch ... sun being a rarity in the north east in October!My wife had the steak sarnie and I opted for the special; pork belly, celeriac, apple and hollandaise on a muffin. Both were delicious and the service was spot on. To finish the meal I took a slice of their lovely caramel shortbread home!We’ve been to Kith and Kin many times and will definitely be going back.

We called on spec.as a very popular cafe did not expect to get a seat but boy were we glad we did.my wife got the steak sarnie (36 day aged).& i got the avo.bacon sourdough .2 coffees ..absolutely delicious..staff on the ball.dog friendly to the front only.will be back.

Breakfast was great but service lacking a little. I don’t believe the breakfast should arrive before your tea/coffee/juice and asking for a further coffee did seem to take quite some time. But great cooking and would definitely visit again. Turkish eggs were lovely, as was the poached eggs with Hollandaise on sourdough

Never fails to disappoint! This is hands down my favourite brunch spot in the North East. The food is always incredible, the cakes are delicious and I can’t recommend this place enough!

Having read great things about Kith n Kin I was not disappointed by the Shaksuka I had as a takeaway after a bracing walk on the beach.This was the 1st Shaksuka I'd had and the addition of the chorizo added to it.I'll be back in fact I've booked lunch already!

Kith & Kin never fails to disappoint, the breakfasts are always so delicious. I'm coeliac and they're happy to cater for gluten free diners. The atmosphere is always really nice. It was my first visit after lockdown and v.impressed with the table service, reduced seating to accommodate social distancing, and track & trace systems they have in place. Staff were all wearing masks too.

I visited with my friend recently for breakfast After hearing great things and was not disappointed. Positives:- I had french toast with bacon and the portion was huge (I didn’t finish) and really delicious- my friend had a chorizo and avocado sandwich and again her sandwich was lovely - we had not had a chance to book but were quickly seated outside by friendly staff Negatives: - I was meant to bring home a Reuben sandwich for my husband but they didn’t have any salt beef left - if you don’t like very crispy bacon the French toast might not be for you (personal choice though)We will definitely be back

Kith and Kin has been on our list of places to visit for ages and it definitely lived up to expectations and more! The staff were so friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome. The whole places felt very keen and it was a great atmosphere! We booked a table in advance and that was ready as we arrived. The menu choice is great and the food even better - really good quality and sooo tasty! The icing on the cake was the decaf coffee - the best decaf we have ever had! Thank you for a great dining experience, we will definitely be back!

We'd read the amazing reviews so it was very disappointing to get not only a very small portion but the chips were cold and the fish overcooked. We will not be returning.

Great brunch / take away, very delicious and good portion size. The staff were very friendly / Covid ready , good cleaning processes in place. I never give 5 star rating but this place really deserves it . Well done !!

Visited Kith and Kin for the first time today! Gutted I’ve never visited it before as I found out its been open for 3yrs... and I’m a local!The food is absolutely delicious... super varied menu with specials, fabulous cakes, excellent coffee and such lovely happy staff!We enjoyed the bacon butty (soooo good), avo on sour dough with a poached egg, poached eggs on sourdough, sweet potatoes fries and Parmesan truffle fries! Wow... there wasn’t one thing I could fault with this lovely cafe... we will definitely be back!! Just planning when we can visit again!!

Dropped in today for coffee, cheese scone and cake. Sat outside was lovely and as always everything really fresh and so delicious. There are lots of cafes in Whitley Bay but this one is definitely worth making for, it is absolutely fab and the service is great.

Amazing menu accommodating a lot of dietary restrictions. The french toast is so good and they change their flavour every season. Only thing is, is that the inside is very small.

One of my absolute favourite places to go for breakfast in Newcastle! Have tried different dishes every time & every time it’s been delicious, this morning I opted for the avocado on toast with feta & it was superb, the sourdough in particular was divine. My girlfriend & I also indulged in some french toast with caramelised pears & crème fraiche which was amazing. Great coffee & friendly staff too, will be back very soon.

Might well be a place to eat but its not a place to get good coffee.Some of the weakest coffee I have ever had. Instant would have had more taste.It seems as though hot water was poured on a single coffee bean.. which had been used before.The coffee was just dark coloured water with zero taste.Cake was nice though

Very diverse menu. If you’ve never ate there. The menu is hard to vision from the menu. Very tasty different menu. Well presented. A lot of additional options to add to meals.

Been wanting to go here for a while after being given recommendations from a few friends. It did not disappoint! I struggled to pick from the menu because all of the dishes sounded sooo nice. The cake was good too! We had to queue to get a table but it was defo worth it!

Have been frequenting kith and kin for a number of years now, first as a couple and then as a family after the birth of our daughter. Menu is exciting, and changes relatively frequently to keep it interesting. The staff are lovely and attentive, good options for vegetarians and vegans. The inside is lovely. The food though, never once been disappointed. It’s amazing! Fresh, tasty, creative. The chef definitely knows what they’re doing and I have no doubt it will continue to be our favourite place for many years to come :) thank you kith and kin!!!

Doesn’t get much better than K&K for brunch, lunch or sneaky cake and coffee!! Lovely modern menu with great produce and covering healthy wealthy and hung over tastes and pockets!! Go once and won’t be the last!!

New favourite brunch spot. Such a good menu, every meal I’ve had is better than the last. So much better than your bog standard fry up or smashed avocado. Reasonably priced and good coffee - as well as good cakes!Dog friendly too, so a lush walk on the beach afterwards makes it an all rounder. Totally recommend, will be back 100000 times.

W.O.W. This hidden gem in Whitley Bay is one of the nicest places I’ve ever had breakfast. Run by local people with local produce, there is a wide range of luxury brunch items to feast on. Love the fact that they’re dog friendly, can pop in for breakfast after a freezing cold dog walk.

I love Kith and Kin, my friend introduced me to this place and I’m so glad!It’s got the feel of a lovely welcoming small business and the staff are really friendly. The food always looks exceptionally presented and is delicious (I’ve had the shakshuka both times and I can of recommend it enough!)It’s definitely become one of my go-to places for brunch by the coast in Newcastle.

I visited last week for lunch with an old friend. Cafe is beautifully laid out with plenty of room round tables. Great service, very friendly and a really varied and different menu which would have something for everyone. Great tea and cakes on offer, could have stayed all afternoon. Definitely worth a visit, I will certainly be back.

If I could move in I would! The food is always 5* and I've had quite a lot off the menu, the coffee is spot on and service is always with a smile. A lovely local place which is an asset to the town.

The quality of the food and service is very good. It's a busy little place but that doesn't stop the staff smiling and a being very attentive. I had the full breakfast absolutely delicious local produce and home made beans. The menu sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to working my way through it!

Modern menu, delicious coffee, fresh food, lovely tastes and generous portions! Bacon was crispy and locally sourced and the avocado on toast was delicious!! Don’t be put off by the condensation in the windows- there are more tables in the back!

I went to Kith and Kiln based on recommendations but I felt a bit let down by the experience. The service was good; the staff were all helpful and friendly but it was the food that disappointed me.

Lovely little place with a great menu. Generous portions and really tasty Only complaint was there was a good 5 min wait between mine and my parteners breakfast arriving so i had almost finished when his came!

Stunning food! Not the fastest service but when you saw the food it was easy to understand why! Yummy!

So pleased we found this place. The food is delicious and the staff are lovely. We especially love going for breakfast. Nice selection of food and all freshly cooked. The porridge is a particular favourite of ours.

Called in for coffee and a scone/cake. Limited selection of baked goods and nothing out of the ordinary. Owner and daughter very busy chatting to friends who had called in and we waited too long for service.

We visited on a Sunday morning. The place was encouragingly full when we arrived. We were advised there was a wait for a table and food but that was fine, it was raining so none of us fancied walking somewhere else. We waited about 10 mins for a table but by the time we ordered the wait on food had been taken off as they had caught up with orders. We ordered 2 steak sandwiches and steak and eggs and everyone really enjoyed their food. Prices were on the steeper side but I didn’t mind so much for the food. Was a little disappointed at the size of my ‘mug’ of tea, didn’t feel very mug sized to me. Will visit again

This is one of the Top places to eat in Whitley Bay I’m going out on a limb and I’m going to say it’s the best Breakfast you can have in Tyne and Wear. Seriously it’s that good.

Lovely corner cafe serving good vegetarian and regular breakfast and brunch menu. Very popular, so be prepared to queue.

My partner and I visit Kith and Kin on a regular basis (a couple of times a month) and have never been disappointed.

Loved our brunch. The shakshuka was amazing but pretty spice. Every plate of food o sore w wanted to eat! Coffee and cake were also top notch.

Lovely setting, friendly staff and amazing food. With a plethora of excellent choices on the menu it’s hard to choose my favourite, but the Avocado on sourdough (w bacon) and The Aussie certainly hit the spot. Oh and last but not least the Turkish eggs. Always some tasty treats on offer for dessert too - Could eat hear every day!!

Went to Kith and Kin on 18th July 2019. The premises is nice and the staff are helpful and polite.

So never even heard of this place before and a few mums recommended this place and i loved it welcoming clean tidy ect. Toliet is clean and tidy and smells nice also baby changing facilities bonus. Food was just amazing. Tastes fresh and healthy but in a good way!

Decided to try this establishment today after stumbling across it on the internet and reading the good reviews. WOW so glad we did. The food was fabulous - beautifully poached eggs and delicious bacon. Nice friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

Great little place, the food is outstanding, service and staff spot on and good value for money. I had the best bacon sandwich I have ever tasted, no exaggeration it was amazing! They also have great vegan chocolate cake. Will be back and highly recommend.

I regularly call in for a wonderful oat milk latte made with pink lane coffee - it’s defo worry the money and I sometimes pick up a lovely cake too. I’ve been in here so many times with my laptop and often order breakfast, or to have coffee with friends. I’m so pleased this is so close by me. It’s so busy on a weekend, very popular with a growing hipster crowd in the area. The food is always great quality and not your usual cafe menu. Very vegan friendly too!

We always pop in for a coffee when we are passing and it is always good.The placeis clean and tidy and the staff are pleasant.

Visited with some friends and my baby on a Thursday and it was a lovely cafe and the staff were helpful in finding a seat that accommodated the pram. Food was delicious we all had different things and all thoroughly enjoyed them, wild mushrooms and whipped feta was sooooooo good! Good selection of cakes too and really like that the cafe stock proven goods donuts x

I've visited here about 5 times up to now. The food is delicious and always looks amazing. You definitely get a lot on your plate too. I've ordered cakes a few times too which are lovely, but twice I've ordered a loaf cake and they have sliced such a tiny slither off that I really don't think it's been worth nearly £3 for a slice. I'm really not a fan of their coffee which is personal choice I guess. It's too bitter for my liking and my latte always tastes like a herbal teabag has been dunked in it. I've also got a loyalty card here for drinks, however they never ever ask you if you have it with you. Twice I've walked out and forgot to ask for it to be stamped. Some advice would be to ask people if they have their loyalty card with them, because when I have had to ask for my card to be stamped, its felt a bit awkward, as if I shouldn't have one. Other than that, the staff seem nice and friendly.

Had my third visit to this lovely little place today. I really enjoyed the coffee and the food is yummy. Often busy, great place 👍🏻

There is a lot of healthy food on offer, and mine was too because it is all about moderation! I had the most gorgeous slice of salted caramel cake with my perfect cappuccino. Not to be recommended every day, but WOW it hit the spot! Fantastic moist, tasty caramel cake with rich buttercream filling and topping. Beautifully presented by attentive staff in calm surroundings.

I came here on Pancake Day, and for the most part I really enjoyed my food. The coffee here’s lovely, and the setting is comfortable, with a lot of plants dotted about and somewhat rustic decor.

I visited Kith and Kin with a SERIOUS hangover which, in hindsight, was not a good idea. I'll start by saying that as a place to eat, Kith and Kin hits the spot. Cosy, warm and relaxed are a few words I would chose to describe. Having looked at the menu the only thing I found familiar was a bacon Sandwich. I'm normally up for trying different and interesting food but nothing on the menu really seemed appealing. Whilst I went for the bacon sandwich, the o/h sampled the shakshuka. Mine, was nice but that's it, it's a bacon sandwich at the end of the day. The shakshuka was good but it wasn't really something which felt like breakfast. One thing I can't fault was the quality of the ingredients. Clearly what we were paying for was good quality. For the price we paid I do think it was expensive. Bacon butty, Shakshuka, mango juice and a latte came to approx. £22.00. Make of that what you will.

Came here on Sunday lunchtime for a spot of brunch.

stopped here for an impromptu lunch with my wife on the way home. The menu is interesting and we chose different things, mine was "the Aussie" or something like that, with halumi, sourdough, kale, egg, beetroot humus and various nuts and seeds. It was very, very tasty. cant remember what my wife had but that was also very nice. they had lots of interesting cakes and things also but we didnt stay for that.

This little place is absolutely incredible!!! I’ve been several times in the last few months and it’s never been a disappointment. You can’t ask for more from a little independent cafe. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is exceptional, with lots of different dishes on offer! It arrives in good time and is always hot, well presented and incredibly tasty! I also think the food is very well priced as you can really tell they use fresh local ingredients and produce.

Dropped in with family for mid morning brunch and can only say we were all very satisfied, nice and clean place with staff who know what they are doing. Food served in a timely manner which always helps. It seems a very popular venue with loads of folk and people waiting for seats! Will visit again and it could become my Whitley Bay favourite!

We love it here, my aunties and I visit every Saturday morning for coffee and breakfast, we love it, such good food and amazing service, I 100% recommend! First went in October and now addicted!

At first glance this looks like a very small place but look a little bit harder and you will see a couple of tables along the side but the bigger area is round the back with maybe an extra 6-8 tables so always worth a look.

My friend and I, along with a 6 week only baby, came to the Cafe yesterday for the first time. Food was great with a good selection of drinks. Baby changing in the toilets were clean and there was everything you needed close by. I breastfed while I was there and didn’t feel uncomfortable in any way. The staff were also very friendly. An amazing little catch-up spot!

Stumbled upon this lovely cafe yesterday and I am so pleased I did as it’s a credit to its owners and staff. The cafe is cosy and very welcoming to both adults and children. The decor is modern and simple with comfortable chairs and sensible sized tables, they also have high chairs should you need one. The cafe and toilet where lovely and clean. Food is imaginative and delicious, vegetarians and vegans will have a good choice here as well. Coffee was lovely and they had a great selection of cakes, we had the Guinness and chocolate cake which was superb and a very generous portion, just as well we shared a piece. Staff where friendly and helpful. I will definitely be visiting again.

Food here is always really well presented. Variations with the specials are always well received. Staff are friendly and efficient - price point is pretty high but happy to pay it for standard of food and service

I visited this café early one morning whilst waiting for the local shops to open. The decor is modern and clean, the staff were polite and professional. I ordered a mug of tea with a bacon and egg sandwich. The price was reasonable and the quality of the finished product was good. I would eat here again

Brilliant daal taken off menu. Best ever incl from Indian restaurants. Hope it comes back in winter! Some cakes getting a bit dull - no lemon taste in the rasp & lemon drizzle. Hope standards not slipping as this is a fave.

This was my second visit to Kith and Kin. I ordered the Mexican Breakfast, having tried Shakshuka on my first visit. The portions are a good size and I like spicy undercurrent to the food. The Americano coffee is very acceptable.

Stop by here for coffee and cake quite often when in Whitley Bay. Really lovely coffee and homemade cakes. Nice decor here and friendly staff.

Just went for a coffee. We asked for skinny which we got but both agreed that it was quite watery. The coffee was pleasant enough, hot and served by friendly staff. We would return but wouldn't ask for skinny next time.

Tried the food this time and it was very high quality. Coffee as solid as last time. Decor is as classy as the food.

Would have given this 5 stars if dogs hadn't been allowed in. I don't understand how dogs can be allowed in to places that serve food . Just my opinion. The food and coffee and service were absolutely lovely.

Visited here with my partner and child, the food was good, the steak sandwich slightly over pink but the rest of the sandwich was very good! My partner really enjoyed her meal, if anything it was too big but absolutely no complaints there! The soft drinks range was very nice we both had a flat white and we both agreed that there was too much milk in it for a flat white and was more of a latte. We will definitely be back as we enjoy the café, it’s local and the staff are very friendly

Wow! Creative, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. I’ve tried plenty of restaurant’s efforts at this type of food but it is the first time they have really hit the mark. Very fresh and healthy produce too!

Clean, friendly and knowledgeable staff. They cater for all dietary requirements. Well worth a visit.

I was treated for mother's day with my 2 daughters for lunch. We had a great server who answered every question we asked. We all had the most delicious-fresh salads that we all have ever had!!! They were excellent and how often can you say that about a salad.

The menu is simple but very original and food is fresh and very tasty. Last time I had avocado on sourdough: delicious 😋

Superb cafe/restaurant with interesting menu. Something different from the normal but at reasonable prices. Good choice of gluten free and vegetarian options. Excellent service. Will definitely be back.

Myself and a mate attended Kith and Kin on Friday for breakfast/brunch.

This is a lovely place to go for breakfast or lunch. We regularly go for a bacon sandwich on a Saturday morning. They make the most amazing bacon sandwiches, using bacon from the local butcher and home made buns. The coffee is also fantastic. The cakes look lovely but we are yet to try these.

I cannot stress how good this breakfast is! I almost don’t want to write this incase it gets too busy! I’m not sure how a simple bacon sandwich can be that good- and the other options are gorgeous too!

First Visited hear about 3 weeks ago for coffee and was so impressed by the look of the food that was coming out of the kitchen that we decided to come back for food

I love this cafe and have become a regular over the last couple of month. I’m slightly addicted to the amazing French toast which can be served gluten free and there’s always a gluten free cake option to take home for later!

Excellent menu and delicious food served in convivial surroundings by friendly and efficient staff. Try the masala scrambled eggs - yumee, we added some of local Nicholson's bacon to top it off

That went out of our way to get us a seat. Service excellent. Nice coffee and we all had a different cake - that were all fantastic. We will be back 👍

We visited yesterday on a rare weekday off together. We arrived at around 9:30am and it was pretty quiet and easy to get a table.

Love love love this place. I love that the menu is relatively small which means every dish is cooked well, I love the decor and chilled atmosphere you get when you walk in and I love the cake stand. I'm very pleased we found this place and it's definitely our go to place from now on. The shakshuka is delicious, my husband likes to try something different each time and has enjoyed every meal so far. Keep up the good work guys

Come here often for brunch with pals. Rotate between the Aussie, Tabbouleh salad and Shakshuka- all have their individual merits of deliciousness. Cafe is not cheap but food is worth it.
