Coffee was extremely expensive and a tiny cap. As for the taste of it, it was watery and fairly unpleasant. I have given it two stars just because the shop was incredibly clean and the staff are friendly and pleasant.

One of the most sour coffees I’ve had in a while. Hot chocolate was bitter, iced latte was sour, flat white was sour. If you don’t like your coffee very third-wave sour, don’t come here

Despite its awful name (which had put me off for a long from entering) I ventured into the shop last Saturday and was surprised at one thing, there was a choice of coffee type, South American or Eithopian which was interesting. I tried both and both coffees were excellent. Coffee wasn't cheap but I don't mind paying for it when the quality is this good. There is limited seating inside, this may be due to covid, so it feels a little bit spartan at the moment. Staff were excellent and knowledgable.

Went in there today having heard the coffee was good. The barista spent a good 10 minutes fussing with the coffee grinder which obviously had a problem. However, no direct acknowledgement to me or eye contact to say it would take a while. Finally left, there are plenty of high quality coffees on offer in the neighbourhood.

We received some Kiss the Hippo coffee with our coffee subscription and we’re hooked from day one. Great to finally visit its Japanese minimalist home. Coffee as I remember it, good quality filter and great to see it being made behind the counter using a pour over. The chocolate ganache and orange polenta cakes are to die for and perfectly formed.

Went in for some afternoon coffee, ordered two coffees. Came to £7... a fair bit when compared to pret a manger just across the road, but price doesn’t matter if it’s a decent coffee. Both coffees came in tiny cups, not even 4 fingers in height but wasn’t too bothered as i thought it would taste good, seemed like a chic coffee shop... coffee tasted like crap. Quite literally 5 sips and it was gone. Terrible value for money. Friendly staff though on the upside.

We popped in for a mug of thick hot chocolate and a macaroon. I had the dark hot chocolate which was excellent as it wasn't sweet, just very chocolatey and comforting, perfect for the cold weather. The macaroon had ice cream in and was delicious but at £2 rather expensive. At £4 I thought the chocolate was reasonable value.

I have visited Kiss The Hippo from day one of their opening. Initially the coffee was excellent, Flat Whites were well made and I stopped off twice a day. The early mornings the Flat Whites were no better than Starbucks and mostly worse so stopped visiting in the early morning. Have gone in during the day with the levels of pretension rising and quality dropping. They need to step up and care for customers more, watch the quality of the coffee and the roast

Food was also very, very tasty, and the staff were genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and talented. Oh and as they’re Vegan, and veggie friendly- pictures are of oat milk flat white/latte and oat breakfast bowl,

We visited for a quick coffee and a snack., The coffee, whilst very good, was tepid. The cake was very good and saved this from being a single star review. The staff however were unfriendly and extremely unhelpful. We felt as thought staff thought that they were doing us a favour by bothering to serve us. I didn't see a single member of staff smile or engage in any way. There was no ambience and felt like we were sitting in an IKEA showroom. In summary, great cake, cold but very good coffee, zero warmth factor and twice the price of a chain.

We popped in here a couple of times, once just for a tea and coffee which was very good indeed and once for breakfast. The coffee is gorgeous and the tea is proper leaf tea so very nice indeed. The scrambled eggs are amazing and such a great colour. Service very nice and friendly, they only take cards by the way, and the place was very clean and tidy. One criticism, all coffee houses now seem to be a haven for people either 'working from home' on their computers or people just hanging about chatting on their computers. Either way they do take up a lot of room and for very long periods of time, but I suppose if they have a coffee there is no time limit on how long they can stay and take up seats for others.

We called here for a snack yesterday. We chose 2 berry compote yogurt mixtures and 2 coffees. While my partner did the ordering I wandered upstairs to try and find seating. The number of customers on laptops with their belongings strewn over additional empty chairs was unreal, not one person offered up their spare seat and this really should be addressed by management. We eventually got a table on the ground floor but had to clear the table ourselves even though there were staff behind the counter doing nothing. Even bringing the dirty plates to the counter didn't seem to phase them one iota, I wouldn't rate the service at all.

Visited Hippo at 9:00am this morning. Ordered a few coffees and a croissant. Now the thing is... I hobbled in using a walking stick. I asked if they could possibly take the order to my table: no. I was told they’d take the food, but I would have to take the coffees. They spent much time and care making the coffees - then laid the four coffees out, plus a separate milk jug... and turned away. I was a bit surprised - as I only had one hand free (the other was needed for the walking stick). I went to my table, deposited the stick, and hobbled back, then asked if they had a tray. The behaviour implied this was a big ask... but I was offered a tiny tray that was then loaded but couldn’t take everything. So I hobbled/limped back to my table with a tray in one hand and a milk jug in the other. Managed not to spill much. Quite remarkable.....

This ultra modern looking coffee shop has a roastery at the rear and a delicious looking range of cakes. My first time and probably last. It didn’t wow me. Service ok, more focused on coffee than on customers. Just one friendly person at the till. Very good flat white but my husbands cappuccino had just tiny more foam than mine. In most of the places in the world I had coffee, they would call it latte( I used to work as a barista for many years). Avocado on sourdough bread was good and my husbands almond croissant so so. There is many better places for a coffee. Big plus for free filtered water.

This is undoubtedly a beautiful space on Richmond High Street however the coffees were only lukewarm and the food, when it finally arrived, shockingly small portions for such a high price point, the sourdough toast was cold and bullet hard, I have to say, the soup was lovely, but at £27 for 3 little coffees, two pieces of toast and soup! It was very quiet when we visited, just 3 other tables so I'm not sure why we had to wait so long for our order.

After sampling most of the coffees shops In Richmond, this latest addition to the high street has a lot of competition on its doorstep. On the basis of the over priced coffee, it is well made and very smooth but in the very small cups 2 sips and it's gone. The food we tried this day was the ham and cheese toastie on sourdough bread. It tasted of pure salt as the smoked ham was very salty and even the cheese tasted salty. How these ingredients were ever chosen I'll never know ? The vegan banana cake was the opposite. Very bland and dry and thus very disappointing.

Absolutely recommend The Wharf. We were there for my sisters 50th birthday Barbara, Debbie & KP were all very accommodating even though it was the festive season menu we could tweak it so my sister felt it was her actual birthday not Christmas! Food was impeccable atmosphere was electric with a DJ which made the party come alive! A huge shout out to KP for being our right hand man making sure our celebrations went off without a hitch. The staff were always at hand making sure we had a great night. The Wharf is an amazing venue for couples families or friends. This is my 2nd big event at The Wharf as we had a big retirement/work do in the summer with a huge buffet accommodating nearly 100 guests. As I said I would highly recommend The Wharf. We have enjoyed eating here in the past but on this occasion it was a definite deux points. When you pay nearly £50 for two small plates of fish and chips and two pints of cider you expect it to be better than the fish and chips at Morrisons. Instead the fish was dry and clearly not restaurant quality while the chips were indifferent at best. If I’d paid £8 in a cafe I would have been disappointed but in a “bistro” pub that pretends to be a Belgian style restaurant it feels like yet another eating establishment that has lost its way.

Just dropped in for a single pint on route to a restaurant meal. Pub is fine, food offerings look OK, but we didn't eat. My only issue was that there were no hand-pumps, hence no proper ale and I didn't see any on keg either. Nice enough place if you like a good selection of lagers.
