We only visited for the walled garden but had to queue up at the cafe counter to buy our entry tickets. We visited at 11am so not exactly ‘lunchtime rush hour’ but it still took 20+ minutes of queuing. Once we got into the garden we realised it was not worth it- you can see most of it from the outside seating area of the cafe. At least the car park was free(!).

Visited this cafe recently with my family and what a disappointment. My mums jacket potato was rotten in the middle (surely they would have seen this when cutting it in half). My sandwich was so underwhelming. £6.50 for a Warbuttons type bread sandwich and a tiny weeny bit of salad is way too expensive. Wouldn’t have minded paying that if it wasn’t so boring and tiny! Also the latte was a rip off. Nearly £4 for the smallest ever latte in a plastic cup. Yep don’t think we will go again ☹️

Same old same. Chefs are on the sick. This is meant to be an established cookery college yet the simple food is mostly microwaved. They said chefs have rang in sick yet this was there excuse 2 mnths ago its a joke 45 mins for a wrap and chips. Its the same senario with others we have spoke too. Never again this explains why they dont have good reviews. Sort this out as this is a great place ran by non business wise tennants.

Maybe it was a bad day, but quiche - broccoli - was disgusting. Chips now logs. Salad dressing cheap and coleslaw so healthy... hardly any mayo on it. Used to be so nice. Takes a lot for me to leave food, but really, need to do better. 🙁

Lovely cafe, accessible without having to go into the gardens which you need to pay for. Free parking and plenty of spaces. I went with my partner, I had a breakfast with gluten free bread and my partner had a gluten free sandwich, we followed up with gluten free carrot cake. We also had lattes to drink. The food was very nice and the surroundings very pleasant. Staff were very obliging and pleasant too. There were plenty of spare tables when we went in around 11:45am. I understand the cafe is under new management. It was very clean, relaxing and an enjoyable experience.

Don't bother - seriously! Stopped for lunch at about 1pm. We'd heard that this place was really good so were concerned straight away when the cafe was almost empty. The menu was very limited so we both went for "loaded chips", something we don't normally eat but thought it would fill us up. I had the cheese and bacon, My wife had the chilli chicken. They came with dry, cooked from frozen chips. The cheese was tasteless and the bacon cut into tiny pieces. My wife's chips were awful so she picked the topping off but said the chicken was almost cold anyway. Two portions of loaded chips and tea for two came to just under £20 - I put the change in the tips then nearly asked for it back when I was told I had to carry our tray to the table myself - there was hardly anyone in so the waiting staff were hardly too busy to do it! Toilets were disgusting. The cleaner obviously never looks up as the extractor fan was covered in a layer of muck and has probably never been cleaned. We won't be back, sorry. On the plus side, the view of the garden was nice and the staff were friendly enough.

Lovely cafe with friendly staff and genuinely home made scones etc. Well worth the short walk out of town. Good range of snacks etc and very reasonable prices.

Popped in for a drink and food , lovely lady behind the bar makes you feel at ease and has no problem helping you out, but.... very pricey I think for meals that are not on the lunchtime or specials menu saying that food is nice just a wee bit pricey for me thanks tho 👍

Asked for bacon sandwich. Bought as a takeout, was handed over all wrapped up and in a bag. This is what I opened when I got home. Neither looked or smelled like bacon. Green tinged. Went straight into the bin
