We have been coming here for years for a beer or two when my grandmother was still about. So it had been a long time since. However, we weren't disappointed to see that it had changed much. The beer selection was still fantastic and the food was tasty and very homely. You don't have to be a member to have lunch here as far as I am aware, but best checking.

Been a member of the Constructional Club for many years very professionally run, very comfortable, very clean and THE best range of ales. A great place to meet friends. We have now had a few meals over the last few months with the new staff in the kitchen. The food is great very tasty well presented 10/10. The young girls serving are very polite - always a good selection of foods for all palites. Nice how the chief comes out and talks to you - to receive feed back Good value for money and a nice atmosphere Great to see the kitchens are back-up and working within the club Pat C & Patsy.

We were invited into a members only club and not an easy club to get into Once in you are confronted with massive range of real ales at subsidised prices as a non member you aren’t allowed to pay you have a coin with a number which is shown in order to buy anything The club has a sense of “Elitism “ and it’s supposed to be a working men’s club ! The beer was ok and the stuffy atmosphere made me only want to stay for one drink I am led to believe that on a Wednesday lunchtime you are allowed to go in and order food It’s a old fashioned club and very stuck in their ways Personally I think it will die out along with the clientele

My wife and I decided to take dinner in restaurant knowing from past experience that the food and friendly service would be excellent - we were not disappointed. My wife chose the sirloin steak served with jacket potato and salad. She likes her steak well done and it was cooked to perfection. I decided to choose from specials board which always offers a good choice of alternatives to regular menu. I chose homemade turkey pie served with chunky chips ,peas and a jug of lovely thick gravy. The pie was everything a homemade pie should be lovely pastry and succulent thick chunks of turkey. Excellent selection of beers and lager topped off a very enjoyable evening

Dropped into the Constitutional Club for lunch on Friday. We opted for the Jumbo Cod and Chips, this was a good choice as the fish was well cooked and the chips were piping hot. As a dessert I had another pint of the excellent Enville ale whilst my better half had the St Clements pudding with loads of hot custard. Overall this was a great lunchtime and as the club is open to non-members during the lunch hours it can be enjoyed by all.

Once we had finished our meals we went into the bar area and the choice of drinks is unbelievable and the price is not bad either. We then went and sat outside in the new garden / patio area on the new benches and the atmosphere outside was great. I have been a member of this Kinver institution for many years and am impressed by the constant improvements. The restaurant provides good meals and is excellent value for money and the snooker facilities are superb. My only problem with this Club is the consistency of its real ales . I applaud the Club,s efforts to provide a wide selection of real ales but I get the impression that a lot of the beers remain in the barrel after they are past their best which is disappointing. My suggestion to the Committee is reduce the number of ales on sale which means they should sell faster and hopefully remain fresher. I know the Club has received several CAMRA awards in the past but I can only assume no CAMRA members have been in the Club when I visited.

We have been regular diners (most Saturdays) at the restaurant for years, and have always found it a friendly comfortable environment with good food at a reasonable price. Since the recent change of manager/chef, however, we have struggled to have a decent meal. We were aware that being new management it could take a while to "settle down", so we have given it a fair try. Last night, however, was probably the worst meal I have ever had! Being vegetarian, the choice was very limited - one dish - vegetable wellington. It was a soggy vegetable pie that was very salty, served with tasteless mixed veg and chips. My husbands meal was equally tasteless and uninteresting - chicken with barbequed ribs and no sauce! (He would have liked just the ribs but was told he had to have it as it came!!) I feel very sorry that we seem to have very different tastes from others who have commented on the restaurant, but we shall have to find somewhere else for Saturday evenings.

This previously great club was not up to its normal standards on my visit yesterday. It has a new chef, whom is not satisfying me, my friends or more importantly the localsMy companion who lives locally said dinner standards have dropped dramatically since the new chef took over. (Why chef, Steve left remains a mystery, he was well loved by locals & visitors). We decided to just have a cob with our beers. The cob was about as crap as it gets, plain white cob, barely a hint of butter, & a beef, no onions, no salad, nothing.Same with the cheese & onion cob, it had no onions either, when we inquired what happened to the salad that normally comes with the cob, we were told it is an extra £2.50 per person, which was a complete mockery. The beer choice was lacking, as was the beer quality itself.Think I’ll stick to going back to the Anchor at Caunsall next time, food & drinks are much better there & you’re not charged extra for what comes as standard.Very disappointed, I won’t waste time coming for the Xmas festive dinner here.

Four of us arrived for our tea at 6.45pm on a Friday evening. Greeted by a nice friendly waitress who showed us to our table. It was reasonably busy but easily manageable I would imagine. Not a great choice on the menu but was cheap enough. The starters were fine and arrived promptly. The main courses also arrived promptly but chips came with the meals when we ordered potatoes and potatoes came with the meals that were supposed to have chips. Never mind. Only a small grumble. My biggest criticism is with the quality of the food. As there is only a pretty limited choice I would expect the food to be home made. The cod mornay was obviously out of a packet as were the spare ribs. The vegetarian lattice pie looked suspiciously like the ones they sell at the Kinver bakery over the road. Very disappointing. I imagine the microwave oven is kept very busy. The staff are lovely but the chap in the kitchen (Paul) needs to pull his finger out. Cheap enough meals but yet again packet food is pretty cheap to buy in I imagine. On a positive note the hot pork sandwiches at weekend lunchtimes are cracking.

Did not realise this restaurant is on trip adviser otherwise I would have left review as soon as we had left. Very very overpriced food at very ordinary quality. Even though we heard staff state that Mothers Day is there busiest day of the year they still had only two staff serving hence the 25 minute wait between the starter and main then the 35 minute wait between main and dessert. When the food finally arrived the quality and quantity was poor at best, the pâté starter had one small slice of toast with it and as for the prawn cocktail a small heap of prawns no bigger than a table spoon is not what I call value for money! The main was awful as well we had served to us frozen roast potatoes not even cooked properly plus two very thin slices of beef and when we asked where are the green vegetables to accompany the meal we were told oh we don't do green vegetables !!! Without doubt an absolute rip off and possibly the worst dining experience we have had. We will never return!

we have eaten here a few times and thought the service and food was ok until we took our 3 year old. And in no way is this review intended to cast a bad light on the waiting staff as they are very good. We felt that he was not wanted in the club by they way we were looked at whilst in the club.when we were seated we were given our menus but were not informed at this point that there were any issues with the menu! we then tried to order our food and as we were placing our order we were told there is no fillet steak, no boiled potatoes, no baked potatoes. so it was just chips with everything, when my sirloin steak arrived it was garnished with as the menu stated pnion rings (TWO) and Mushrooms (ONE CUT IN HALF), this is not being told because i am greedy but because I would of liked at least a couple of halved mushrooms, I can't really continue with everything else that was wrong with our meals as I will be here for a long time. But as stated earlier we did have our three year old son with us, who very politely asked for FISH Fingers Chips and PEAS,which we request be the first meal cooked so he didn't have to wait, But it was the last meal to be delivered to the table and worst of all he was given FISH PIE!! so we ate of Dinner and requested the Bill which for 4 adults and a three year old was not that expencive at £50 but it is also not exactly what I would call value for money. When Asked to talk to the Man in the Kitchen he obliged by visiting the table (But asked if we could talk in private) of which i have no issue but his excusses of "I'm on my own we are busy, I didn't have time to cross the road to a shop and buy some potatoes, the hand writing was bad I thought it said FISH PIE" did not impress me at all and luckly MyPartner dragged me away before I upset him with the most apt thing I have every heard from Mr Gordon Ramsey"YOU MAY WEAR THE WHITES BUT THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN CALL YOURSELF A F****NG CHEF"

I recommend the pies which are homemade and very tasty. The same can be said of the lasagne, and the Sirloin steak is some of the best I've tasted, not just because of the obvious quality of the meat but the way they are cooked. This place is a real gem if you are looking for traditional simple quality in a lovely village this place is unique in that respect.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch here last week. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. All the staff were very friendly and happy to help. Also it was nice to see the chef front of house carving the meat in front of you. The day we ate there roast lamb was one of the options for the meat, it was the best roast lamb I have had in a while. It is great value for money ONLY TEN POUNDS for 3 courses. We will definitely be eating here again.

The price was low, and the serving staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, but unfortunately that is about far as it goes for positive comments as the food itself was not up to much, gammon was very tough, and blunt knives didn't make it any easier to cut. Vegetables were uninspiring, and the carrots must have been processed and straight from a can! I can't comment on the Christmas pudding as I had chosen the sherry trifle - and I wish I hadn't. It really was quite foul, limpid jelly with lumps of (tinned, quite hard) fruit, and a very unpleasant and artificial tasting creamy substance on top. Such a pity as the personnel are all so friendly and wanting to please. Two or three years ago the corresponding Christmas meal was excellent, if only the restaurant could get back to similar standards for next year!

Love this restaurant. Use it for personal as well as business and it’s always superb. The daytime/Prixe Fixe is such good value during daytimes and what I love is they are not small portions! The cod loin is delicious as are a whole host of other dishes. Goats cheese is unbelievable too. Drinks are also good value and an excellent choice of wines and spirits. All in all, it’s a cracking restaurant with really warm and welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble, even at the busiest times. Special mention to Tonya as she is excellent and very friendly & warm. A real credit to you. Keep on doing what you’re doing, well done guys & thank you.

Popped for lunch after dog walking. A good selection of choices on the menu and a lovely atmosphere in this canalside pub. Dogs are welcome - there's a couple of dog-free areas as well - and this makes a good spot for refreshments (or more) after walking along the canal towpath. We'll definitely be back!

Ten of us went from a friendship group, only a couple of other people there, so no atmosphere. Ordered meals and Drinks, one was even asked if they wanted egg or pineapple with their gammon. The meals were nice and hot but not what we ordered. No eggs, no tomatoes, no peas. Everything was substituted by tomatoless salad, not even an egg and was substituted with the pineapple which had been offered. I asked what real ale have you got. Only Banks Bitter which I had, it tasted like vinegar which they had back and with nothing else to drink. Did not want anything else but was not offered a refund. We were on a recce for our Christmas dinner, but will give this one a miss. NB Not all the meals are listed for me to include in the post
