Kingsmills Hotel in Highland

We stayed at this hotel and had dinner in their restaurant. They offered a £35 two course or a £43 three course meal. The brown crab and smoked haddock risotto was inedible. I knew I was in for trouble went the waiter brought over this yellow, indistinguishable mess. Gelatinous is not an adjective that should be used to describe risotto, but that was the consistency. There was absolutely no taste. I have tasted baby food with more flavor. To make matters worse, there was what appeared to be hard, uncooked spaghetti sprinkled on top. The prawns in the shrimp cocktail were still frozen solid. Coupled with the uncooked spaghetti on the risotto, it made me wonder whether the chef had a relative who was a dentist and was trying to drum up some business for him or her. A few of us ordered steak cooked medium rare. I will let the images attached speak for themselves. The floating island dessert was the only edible part of the meal. It was a meringue with coconut sorbet and tropical fruit. If not for this saving grace, I would have given this restaurant a zero ranking even though Trip Advisor doesn’t allow this.

Again a delight to have lunch in the conservatory. Food always excellent and served by lovely politely friendly staff. As usual good to finish off the tea in the lounge. Never disappointed when visiting. Great all- round experience. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone again.

I was in desperate need of a weekend away child free just me and my dog Maggie. The kingsmills is a few hours distance from my home but I have been staying there a fair amount this year. I was hooked after my first stay last April. It is home away from home with MANY bonuses. The initial reception I have received the last 9 times on 12 months has never suffered. There are happy faces to greet me every time, they always make my little boy (I usually don’t get away to this particular hotel without him ) feel so relaxed and at ease and cater to his every need before he even realised he needs it! One by one the staff will sneak over to the seating area whilst we sit with a coffee and make a fuss of my dog whilst doing it on my dogs terms! They never make her nervous nor uncomfortable and the rascals take turns bringing her biscuits and a bowl of water on a tray just for her arrival! We had minor issues with the boiler during a power cut 8 weeks ago and the concierge was right on hand, with an unnecessary amount of extra blankets, robes and a handy man to sort the problem out first thing in the am. Whilst having hot chocolate delivered to our room to cheer my son Noah up! I have (ashamed to admit it several times) made errors with my booking in regards to pet friendly rooms. Well, this is no problem as Pam at reception along with the beautiful 3 young ladies armed with grins and helpful hands came to my rescue! Not only did they resolve the issue I made, they did it in such an efficient and helpful way that they charged me their best rates whilst juggling other bookings around (which gave the bar staff their turn to come let the dog) and managed to pop me in an even better room with a private patio for my little spaniel! When they figure out I’ve made the bookings now, they automatically try and put me in the same two rooms they know are perfectly situated and accommodating for both my spaniel and my 10 year old! And this is not even something I ever asked for they just remembered from previous stays how much we enjoyed said rooms. This weekend however mummy went solo child free just me and my furry friend. And so, they armed me with a complimentary cocktail whilst again adjusting the error of booking that I myself made (every time I swear) and when I decided to add an extra night to my 2night turned 3 night stay, and they didn’t have my same room available, Pam was on hand to get me an unbelievable rate with breakfast for myself on maggie. I particularly enjoyed over hearing the receptionist Pam chatting to an elderly lady who’s husband was the doorman for 27 years, and had from what I gathered recently passed. Pam (I’m sure was her name) armed with a beautiful smile and a heart of pure gold bragged to the lady of how huge a mark her husband had made on the hotel and the staff as well as guests, and how incredibly missed he will be. It was really quite a beautiful moment to become a part of when she had seen the lady chatting to me and had bragged of the ladies husband to me as a guest and let the lady know what a man he was indeed. He sounded like quite the character! She then sent me on my way to a beautiful upgrade which she had chosen tailor made to my dogs needs (again without me even asking or thinking about it to be honest!) I dined in the restaurant for 2 nights and enjoyed a rare steak dinner with cocktails on tap (so to speak) the bar staff were incredible and although there was a bit of a wait for orders to be taken and food delivered (nothing too bad) they had 2 functions on at the same time whilst attending to all of us guests and they still managed to ace it! I asked the bar man if he had a specific cocktail I was looking for and it was not on the menu (I wasn’t fazed) however that’s no problem for him, he insisted he could make it up for me as they had all the ingredients anyway! I was then gifted with a pina colada to keep me going whilst I awaited my steak dinner dinner and French martini! My steak was a little disappointing on this one 9 occasions (pretty great odds for an incredibley busy restaurant however it was still tasty and the service and cocktails were so great that it really didn’t phase me anyway! Now for breakfast, where to even begin. I simply can’t. Make sure you have yourself the Scottish and continental breakfast. You can thank me later. Actually,potentially the highlight of my stay! The leisure club. This was my first time using it. In all honesty it’s a little outdated and the windows could do with being replaced (cleanliness was 10 out of 10 though) I sat there at 7am with the pool to myself and watched the sunrise from the incredible hot tub. What a way to begin the Day! I have already pre booked two more separate stays and am counting down the days! If you are a parent who just needs some time to recuperate, this is the place for you! If your husband or wife need a pick me up, get them in there and this place will have them leaving 10 tonne lighter. They will literally take the weight of the world from your shoulders and carry it for you, from the second you walk in the door. I have stayed in hotels all over the uk and Europe. All 5 star ( I’m a hotel snob ok?) but nothing has ever compared to the kingsmills hotel in Inverness. I went there this particular week feeling drained and exhausted and mentally overwhelmed. I left one hour ago ready to take on whatever is coming my way this week. I’m a happier, lively mummy today after my 3 day stay. I can not thank them enough. If you made it this far, then you’ve already left this review and are ready to press confirm booking. Otherwise, your insane. Treat yourself. You just make the booking. They do all the looking after you. What more could you possibly ask for? Enjoy your stay folks. I know you will!

We had the most excellent dinner in the Conservatory Restaurant. From the Restaurant Host to the waiting staff who looked after us so well there is a clear commitment to ensuring everyone enjoys their time in the restaurant. The service was excellent and so well paced. It was always attentive but never overbearing. The food and wines were just excellent. My wife has a number of food allergies which were all so well accommodated. Overall it was one of our best eating out experiences in a very long time. We loved the relaxed and comfortable surroundings making the restaurant a perfect choice for all occasions. Thank you to all the so very good staff who made our evening.

Afternoon tea - I would say it was average to good. What we had was lovely, but there was only 1 savoury option (sandwiches only). A lot of the afternoon teas I’ve had always have a 50/50 selection of sweet and savoury to cater for different preferences. What was on the stand was lovely don’t get me wrong but the overall experience wasn’t that special. My friend had to wave someone over to ask for a top-up of hot drinks and it seemed to take quite a while to bring the food out which I find odd when it wasn’t overall busy and it’s pre-booked. Nobody came in the couple hours we were sat there and asked if the food was ok, so was a bit of a let down service wise. It’s a pity as I’ve had lunch here before and it was quite nice. I’ve been here 3 times now and each time I experience something else. I do like the mix of a semi-formal to a causal dining environment though between choice of table/chairs and couches. Would I recommend, I’m not entirely convinced.

Every member of the restaurant staff was so very friendly and helpful, our breakfast and evening meals were really enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant and the hotel...a great experience all round.

Ambiance: Extremely loud patrons, lots of drunken shouting. Sat next to table where guest had her hair in curlers. Large patron in wheelchair pushed up ramp by staff struggling and grunting loudly. Several Americans appeared to be dressed for camping while some local women. wore velvet and heels with men in dress jackets. Service: Cheerful, hardworking, under trained staff. Patrons provided 2 different menus, ordered from one, served from the other. Wine spilled on the way to the table, plopped down on the tablecloth and left in a pool of red. Dishes bussed in a teetering stack. Food: Worst food we’ve had on our trip so far and very expensive. Seafood platter starter - dry smoked salmon, very over cooked langoustine, SPOILED undercooked mussels on both servings (smell was disgusting, would have ruined a good meal but that turned out to not be a problem). Lamb dry and tough and not recognizable as lamb, potato casserole reheated so many times it had lost lamination, mushy peas the color of wasabi but no flavor.

Lunch - crab salad - delicious £13. Club sandwich - tasty £14. 250ml pinot grigio £9.75. Tea £3.65, Americano £3.65. Total £44.05. Expensive but lovely setting, good service and recommended.

We enjoy an afternoon tea and friends had gifted me a voucher for one at the Kingsmills Hotel. The sandwiches and scones were delicious and tea plentiful, although we weren’t offered a choice of any other kind of tea. The sweet elements of the afternoon tea were very nice, however my only criticism would be that there were far too many sweet treats. I would have preferred to have more savoury items such as a little pie, or quiche or something similar. My friend and I of course managed to eat almost everything, but she agreed that we felt a bit sick afterwards, should have thrown in the towel before the last two cakes!

Food generally quite good but it was a fixed menu with no one off specials and few vegetarian dishes. So if you didn't fancy what was on the menu if staying more than a day choices got limited.

Again a joy to eat here. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Steaks done to perfection. Always have a wee giggle with the staff, professionally friendly. Recommend to friends; also afternoon teas delicious.

We ate here as were staying at the hotel. The restaurant is very big and it was very busy which resulted in it being very noisy. The menu has lots of choice and the food is good. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Une très bonne cuisine classique. La carte est courte, comme partout dans le Royaume Uni, mais elle propose quelques belles variantes de viandes ou de poissons. A noter que, pour une fois, nous avons pu obtenir du bœuf cuit (presque) aussi bien que chez nous. Et ils ont une bonne carte de vins chiliens ou venant d'Afrique du Sud.

Tan encantadora como siempre. El entorno y el personal hicieron que la experiencia fuera aún más especial, fueron muy cálidos y acogedores. Había una mujer encantadora detrás del bar con un cabello rojo deslumbrante, ojalá hubiera conseguido su nombre, ya que no podría haber hecho más por nosotros. Ella se ocupó de todas nuestras necesidades y nos hizo sentir tan especiales. El ambiente es muy acogedor y hogareño, también me encantan los muebles nuevos.La única crítica fue que las áreas del bar y el restaurante estaban muy ocupadas, terminamos yendo a buscar personal para pedir más té, nuestra factura, etc. Ellos estaban haciendo todo lo posible, pero se necesitaba más personal de guardia.

Nos alojamos aquí con mi esposa, nos pareció que la habitación y el hotel eran de alto nivel. Todo el personal era muy amable y servicial, nunca había demasiado para ellos. Recomendamos una visita al spa ideal para relajarse, el hotel también cuenta con piscina, sauna, baño de vapor y gimnasio. La comida era buena ya un costo razonable, pero no es alucinante.

What can I say what a fantastic 5 night stay.we were a party of 12. The rooms were lovely.luxurious super king beds. Great pillows and decor .they have a nice pool and sauna and jacuzzi.breakfast was a buffet cooked breakfast. He estado en algunos eventos de Santa pero este fue, de lejos, el mejor, ¡no podía creer que fuera su primer año callejero haciendo uno! Entretenimiento para los niños en forma de DJ, algunos juegos de fiesta, baile. El buffet era genial por el precio y opciones encantadoras para niños y adultos por igual. Muy organizado ya que tenían mesa por mesa en el buffet, luego mesa por mesa para Santa y entretenimiento continuo para los niños en el medio. Definitivamente volvería a reservar el año que viene

After our flight from Inverness Airport was cancelled due to bad weather and our airline booked us into the Kingsmill, we trudged over to the restaurant expecting a very poor and disappointing dinner to be the final nail in the coffin of a stressful day. Instead, we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff, despite having to deal with an influx of almost 100 tired travellers, managed to accommodate all arrivals and the kitchen promptly churned out very high quality meals. We had the venison and halibut and were very impressed. The wine list is decent - the only disappointment being that they had run out of the finer bottles of Bordeaux on the menu!

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and decided to eat here on our second night and so glad we did.

A wide variety of items to choose from prepared with fresh ingredients. Whether you get a bite to eat in the bar or are sitting down for a full dinner in the restaurant, the food is fantastic.

I enjoyed my stay at Kingsmill. Very good clean rooms. There are various rooms to meet your needs. Good location away from the city yet not so far.

We stayed in room 105 as a return visit from 16 years previous on our wedding night! Expectations were high as we had such fond memories of a luxurious room with jacuzzi bath. Sadly they have let things slip on the very basics at The Kingsmills Hotel - dusty lights, grotty shower knob, dirty bath were grott appears when you fill it (and it doesnt hold the water for a bath!), non-working jacuzzi bath, low quality coffee in room, light bulbs out, rubbish at back of bedside table, broken & flickering lamp. I also found it very annoying to have no uk socket at my bedside! Cleaning & general maintenance is hotel basics but they are not meeting 4* standards in my humble opinion.

Me alojé en el hotel y disfruté del desayuno buffet completo con el chef, incluso complaciendo mi antojo de pan frito para acompañar el delicioso morcilla, champiñones, frijoles, tocino y salchichas. Café caliente y sabroso, así que es un buen comienzo para mi día en los cercanos enlaces de Castle Stuart.

I used to live and work in Inverness and was extremely familiar with the Kingsmills having used it for functions- but I moved to the West coast and now when I’m in the Highland capital-always book this wonderful place to stay!

I took a tour through my cruise ship the Norwegian Spirit. We had a lunch break provided by the Kingsmills Hotel. It was a simple but nice meal. And they understood what gluten free means. The hotel is charming.

Fui a tomar un té por la tarde hoy para un colega jubilado y la comida y el personal fue fenomenal. Teníamos una sección privada dentro del hotel para nuestro grupo, que estaba muy bien organizada. Tuvimos una excelente selección de sándwiches, pasteles y bollos con crema y mermelada. El café estaba arriba con el mejor que he tenido! El personal que nos servía era extremadamente atento y cortés. Había tanta comida que no pudimos terminarla y el personal nos dio cajas para llevar todos los pasteles que no pudimos comer para llevar a nuestra sala de personal el lunes. Otros miembros del personal dentro del hotel eran educados y encantadores. Si estás buscando una gran experiencia, entonces este lugar es imprescindible. Nos trasladaron a otro hotel, pero el Kingsmill pagó nuestra cena en su comedor. Tuvimos la más encantadora, divertida, conocedora camarera llamada Lorna y ella hizo que la noche fuera increíble para nosotros! ! ¡Incluso nos dijo buenas películas escocesas para ver! !

We got caught between lunch and dinner with few choices on where we could eat since we missed lunch. The main dining room opened at 5:00 which worked well since we missed lunch. Food was very good, attentive service and it was a lovely setting looking outside.

What a perfect afternoon with our elderly mother. There were 4 of us. We had a delicious afternoon with Prosecco, of course . Alison absolutely made the experience perfect - we know her from her previous place of work, so were over the moon to see her. She made mums trip out so much more enjoyable. Thank you again guys

This is a great hotel not too far from the city centre, staff is really friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and nicely decorated.

Another fabulous afternoon tea at The Kingsmills. Service is first class and a lovely cake stand of sandwiches, scones and cakes as well as tea or coffee. First class, thank you to all the team once again.

Friendly staff in the reception. Turned out we were placed in the annex across the parking lot, not main building. A nice room (“Demi Suite” as they called it) large bed, clean, nice bathroom with both bath and separate shower. Poor service in the bar in main building, not good good there. Very over priced! Terrible breakfast (don’t know if the Scottish kitchen isn’t aware of the benefits with salt in the food?). Included breakfast (yoghurt, cereals, fruit, toast, cheese and ham), possible to buy breakfast (which was pricy so we did not pay anything extra).

I spent one night in your hotel with my family last weekend. The hotel was lovely; we had a family room that was very spacious and clean. Your staff was nice and helpful.

Booked this hotel as part of a package as a surprise birthday treat for my husband. What a lovely Hotel. From start to finish, friendly staff, lovely room ( we had the Luxury King Room) Spotlessly clean, luxury bathroom, comfy bed, sofa area, large t.v, tea making facilities, complimentary dressing gowns & slippers. Breakfast for us was included and i must say was excellent. A good selection of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, cooked buffet, juices, etc. Only one negative..we requested an early morning call for a day trip which we received ok on the day but unfortunately also received one one the following day which we hadn’t requested, bit annoying as we wanted a lie in.. We duly complained and did get an apology.. mistakes happen! Overall, a lovely buzzy, busy hotel, friendly staff, good food. Would definitely return and recommend to others in the future.

Inverness faisait partie de notre circuit en Ecosse, jolie petite ville des Highlands, ville du fameux Simon Fraser dit Lord Lovat. Kingsmills est l'endroit parfait pour découvrir la région et surtout le lac du Loch Ness.Les chambres sont plus que confortables avec leurs lits taille king size, propres et cozy. Personnel charmant et efficace. Et le petit déjeuner !!!!! Surtout écossais, vous met de bonne humeur pour la journée et vous tient jusqu'au tea time.

Impresionante hotel y personal encantador. Me alojé aquí dos veces, una en noviembre y otra vez en enero y sin duda volvería otra vez. ¡Nos encantó cada minuto de ello! Nos hemos alojado tanto en el hotel Kingsmills como en el club Kings (fotos adjuntas) y ambos eran tan hermosos como el otro. ¡Cinco estrellas hasta el final! !

We go to the Kingsmills twice a year and love the service and food, we tend only to have the buffet breakfast we go out for dinner. The staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. The manager is always on hand, I asked him if he ever went home ?

The meal was delicious - but it was like a starter! Away to another restaurant after - will not rush back!

The KingsMills has a pub-food area, a lovely restaurant "Inglis" in the breakfast area, and a very decent restaurant in the conservatory. Pricing jumps up from 20 to 40 to 80 including drinks. So does quality. Personnel is very friendly and professional, it feels like coming home. Having said that, just like at home, quality varies a bit. Most nights we had a delicious meal with excellent value for money, but one nights we ordered the curry and wondered what it really was. Maybe it was our fault to order curry in Scotland ;-). The whisky bar is very good though, with a good selection in brands and age, with very fair pricing, I certainly recommend it! If restaurant quality was more stable and if some more local dishes would be on the menu… then KingsMills would be a full 5 out of 5!

Disfrutamos muchísimo de nuestra estancia de 2 noches en el hotel Kingsmills. Nos alojamos en la parte de Kingsclub del hotel, que está separada del hotel principal. Las habitaciones estaban limpias y espaciosas y la cama era muy cómoda. Mucha variedad para el desayuno y en un buen nivel. El personal era fantástico y una mención especial a Pam en la recepción, que era muy amable y cordial. ¡Esperamos volver! !

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Restaurant was not busy - only three tables were occupied.

I had the pleasure of taking my college age son on a European adventure. Our trip started in London and ended in Inverness. We stayed 5 days at Kingsmills’ hotel. The front desk was polite which why this ad has two stars and not one star. The restaurant has the worst service that ruined our stayed on top of other things...

My wife and I stayed in one of the luxury rooms. Well they are all they claim to be!

Dinner two nights as part of weekend package. Meal excellent, menu choice very good and food delicious. Staff very friendly, welcoming and informative. Worth a visit.

We stayed in the new section and booked a cocoon room . It is a modern room , very clean. There are 2 comfortable armchairs .we had a good stay. Good value as well.

Had lunch here with my daughter and partner with my husband too. The surroundings and table settings are beautiful. Staff are so attentive and pleasant.

Fuimos allí como parte de una excursión. El hotel está en una bonita ubicación. Había un montón de gente para ser servido, sino fue hecho rápida y eficientemente. Nuestro grupo todos comimos Ensalada Waldorf, pechuga de pollo, papas horneadas, verduras, crema de frambuesa cranachan pastel y café o té. El servicio speedy nos permitió más tiempo en los castillos nos visitan

Hotel bien ubicado. Habitaciones comodas y limpias . Recepcion muy agradable al trato en especial ruben , paisano sevillano que nos ha dedicado unos minutos para explicarnos lugares y sitios cerca de las inmediaciones . Desayuno correcto.

Había varias bodas celebradas el fin de semana que estuvimos allí. Pero la ubicación era buena. Caminamos en dirección a Tesco y en la otra al centro de la ciudad. No eran para el golf. La comida era buena y el servicio muy bien. Nuestra habitación daba al patio y era un poco ruidoso por el desbordamiento de la bodas.

Went here for afternoon tea as part of a hen party. Food was delicious - especially the sandwiches. Downside was we had a member of our party who had an allergy to tuna fish, the member of our party who organised the afternoon tea at kingsmills specifically contacted the premises on booking about this allergy yet tuna sandwiches still appeared on the plate infront of the individual with the tuma allergy. This could have had serious consequences to the poor girl with the allergy. It was addressed however carelessness on the hotel itself. Gorgeous hotel - would recommend if you dont have specific dietary needs.

Just terrible food. Well done steak when asked for med-rare. Sauce was runny and flavorless. Asked for soft drink and it never came

Buen hotel, con buenas comodidades y un personal agradable. Nos alojamos aquí una noche en un autocar. Buena cena, pero el desayuno estaba bien. Tomó un poco de cosas para reponer y que era un típico desayuno buffet. Era un poco raro que dos de nosotros terminó siendo puesto en una habitación para minusválidos. La ducha era un poco vacilante seguã porque era para personas con discapacidad. Buena estancia en general.

If you don't eat meat, you can fill up on box cereal. Dining room was nice. Not a lot of service as most choose the buffet.

Great older hotel with all the luxuries of a new hotel. Very friendly staff, great service. Great gym and pool, beautiful garden to walk around, walking distance to town.

Un hotel amplio y cómodo para pasar una o un par de noches recorriendo el norte de Escocia. Desde Inverness se puede ir a todos los lugares de interés en la zona dentro del día. El hotel tiene pileta, spa y golf para relajar un poco cuando se descansa, algo que pocos tienen en la zona. Habitaciones amplias y completas. El desayuno muy bueno y la atención excelente!

Fresh food very well prepared and beautifully served. We ate in the conservatory which is a great setting andatmosphere.

Reservado el almuerzo. A la llegada nos en una cola en recepción cuando lo que parecía un miembro del personal (con su chaqueta) preguntó si podía ayudar. Le dijimos que estábamos allí para el almuerzo así que nos pidió que fuéramos al bar. Había un chico que trabaja en el bar que nunca eliminará la cabeza hasta que empezó paseando arriba y abajo diciendo para ir a las mesas y alguien podría conseguir.

Nos alojamos aquí por 3 noches con mi marido y los niños. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente. El desayuno era bueno, sería agradable si había tal vez más variedad para los niños como tortitas y gofres, pero suficientemente con lo que ofrecen en la actualidad. La habitación estaba limpia y era espaciosa. Tuvimos un par de problemas con defectuoso. luces y una tapa rota tetera pero tanto corregido pronto después de reporte. La piscina era muy agradable con añadidos como secadores de pelo, toallas y bolsas para llevar sus trajes húmedos de vuelta a la habitación. Todo el personal fue realmente agradable y acogedor. Sin duda volveremos.

Came here a while back and had forgotten to review. Came for afternoon tea and the bread was stale. The waitress spilt tea over my grandmother although it was forgivable. I couldn't understand why there wasn't pots of tea and coffee on the table?? Very strange. Also I went and paid for the lunch and went to the bathroom and someone chased my family out quite rudely saying they hadn't paid? Embarrassing behavior. Also very expensive for what it is.

Hotel is very nice. Could be a bit cleaner but certainly nice. We had a dust bunny behind our bathroom door the entire time. The room is nice and so is the hotel. They are currently replacing carpeting in the hallways. Classy older hotel that...
