Lovely , friendly staff, special mention for Jack! We popped in for a quick drink before getting the ferry. There is a wide choice and decent prices. I managed to tip my whole glass of wine on the floor within seconds of sitting down. Not only did they clear it up promptly but they also replaced it on the house. Superstars

Lovely venue with pleasant staff. Kids menu was fine and children enjoyed their meals. Young children could easily share a portion as meals were adult sized. The seafood linguine was very unusual as there were so many tentacles. As someone who loves seafood linguine this isn’t anything like what I’ve come to expect … it was very bizarre and with what could only be described as a kraken hidden under the linguine!! Perhaps a popular local favourite but I simply couldn’t stomach it and the amount of dark tentacles peeping through the linguine was most off putting. Others enjoyed their food and I cannot fault the staff or environment. Meals were fairly priced too.

Our second visit here. Food was nicely presented. I had a 25% off voucher to use on my app which brought the price down to what I feel it should have costed, but all was very tasty and the service was nice and friendly, so would certainly return for a 3rd time at some point in the future.

Last night four of us had the worst meal I personally have ever experienced in any pub or restaurant. It wasn't busy with diners but the service was slow and when the meal came it was small dry overcooked and tasteless. We had a bottle of £6 supermarket wine and charged £26. These comments are in no way over exaggerated, I shall never darken their door again.

We popped in on a Sunday tea time hoping that they were serving food (still early season and other pubs didn’t have their kitchens open) and we managed to get two of the last roast dinners available. I’ve been seafaring for a good many years, dropping into ports and small towns across this great nation, and decided to try somewhere new called the Isle of Wight. Quite an exotic little island, I found myself in the seaside town of Yarmouth where I happened to stumble into the Kings Head. Upon walking into this fine establishment I was welcomed with what I could almost literally describe as open arms and was made to feel straight at home with the jovial and quite witty bar man. Anyway, I digress. As the day went on I decided this place looked like it could cook up a seriously good meal and I wasn’t wrong. I ordered the mushroom wellington and frankly, it was borderline a miracle of a meal. Possibly the best Wellington this side of the Brazilian football scene. I was aghast, shocked frankly at how good it was. Literally, this one meal, this one pub, just everything has almost coaxed me to pack up shop and settle down on this scenic little island. What a pub! 12/10. Top service.

The pub was great, once again quick service. There is one bartender called Brandon who is a lovely man, very polite and willing to have a conversation-and he is also my favourite. There’s a pool table in there, it’s fun and popular to play. it’s also great for family and friends and dog friendly, the staff are willing to pet the dogs and the drinks are good and well priced.

My first visit to the Isle of Wight to meet with friends was on a very wet July day. We tried several places to get afternoon tea but were turned away because either food wasn't being served or the dog wasn't allowed in. Then we hit upon the King's Head where we were made most welcome. We were served excellent tea/hot chocolate and cakes. The staff were most helpful and the atmosphere was friendly. No surprise that it was busy with everyone seeming to enjoy themselves.

My wife and I visited here just before Lockdown 2.0 so as to support the local pubs in the West Wight. We have been coming here for years and really enjoy the atmosphere and the real fire. The food used to be locally cooked and was great. However the pub is now a part of a local chain and what you get is microwave meals prepared to a mediocre menu. The local aspect seems to have disappeared now with a standard menu. I don't want to overly have a go at the staff but they really were a little slow, non attentive and we waited an age for salt/pepper/sauces ect. Next time we will try the Bugle instead. The food is much better there and the atmosphere much friendlier

We only had an hour to have lunch before catching a ferry. Spotted this pub and decided to have a quick bite there. It was a Friday afternoon, therefore was very busy. Luckily we found a table. Burger and steak and ale pie were delicious. Even though the food was top notch, I cant say that my overall experience was brilliant here. Firstly, my main course came out with chips rather than mash as requested. This was resolved, however I had to wait while my family enjoyed their meal. The second reason, which marred the whole experience for me: my 2 year old toddler kept waving and saying hello to the waitress Julie as she was taking our order. But Julie, who also happens to be the manager, gave a deaf ear to him completely ignoring him which really put me off. I cannot think of a possible reason why she behaved like this. Didn’t seem to be particularly friendly too, maybe having a bad day. But why take out on a child? If only I didn’t had a ferry to catch, I would have put in a complaint for sure.

Tonight I opted for beer battered fish and chips and my partner had the pie and we shared the two dishes which were again very good. The homemade strawberry tart was superb. The pub has been well organised to make it covid secure, they have actually marked every other table as out of action. Also a one way system around the pub. On the first visit although other in the groups food was fine the fish cake I ordered were hot on the outside but cold in the middle, the service was good and Tom our server, new to the job was very apologetic. On our return visit the next evening (the only place we could book) Two of the four meals were tepid, one of which was served without chips, a third meal that included potatoes was served without them and a fouth meal was serve with burnt garlic bread on a further meal was burnt. Our server Tom again was very apologetic and could not do enough to try to correct the error. In Conclusion Four out of eight meals were inadequately cooked, one having a missing item of food, a fifth was served with items missing.3 out of eight meals were acceptable.

Looking at the other reviews maybe we were unlucky but I have eaten dinner here this evening and have been appalled by the service and pretty disgusted at the cleanliness. It was one of the Eat Out to Help Out evenings and I understand that this means they may have been a bit busier, although given that they have a reduced number of tables, surely they should be less stretched than when working at full capacity?? Anyway, after booking a table for 8pm we were asked to wait in the outside seating area while they got the table ready. Not a problem but no suggestion as to how long this may take or offer to get drinks while we were waiting and finally, after over half an hour, we were sent to our table. Still no offer to take our drinks order or show us the menu and after 10 minutes I had to go and get my own from the bar. After some time, there was still no one coming to the table and this was about an hour after our original booking! (I would've walked out by now but where else was I going to feed my 3 kids at 9pm?) Finally, we ordered drinks and waited. And waited. The person who took the order had to be reminded that our drinks had been sat on the bar. Having finally got our drinks, which weren't what we wanted but we'd fallen into submission by this point, I had to ask if we could order food (No 'Are you ready to order?' was going to happen)! The food came and looked okay until I noticed a delicious looking fly baked into the top of my veg lasagne. They took it away under the pretence that they were getting me a new one but I'm pretty sure it was the same one minus the fly that came back. Admittedly, the food all tasted okay but I really don't know how they can justify the premium prices with the level of service and the fruit fly swarms around the bar area. Yes, flies drop into food but no, 'We will take this off the bill for you' as way of an apology. It's a good job that it was the Eat Out to Help Out or I wouldn't have been happy paying for this meal at all and I still feel a bit begrudged, paying what I did.

Very spacious and interesting pub! Lots of people were queuing at the bar, but it's quicker to find a table and order with the Wetherspoon app. I didn't eat here so I can't comment, but I'm sure it would've been the same good quality that you get at any Spoons.

Excellent quality and service. Friendly staff and lovely views. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, as were all other ingredients.

Big coffee shop with lots of customers but only 2 girls to serve and clear up and one girl out back. All the empty tables were covered in rubbish and dirty cups and plates, and the toilets were horrific as they clearly don't have the staff to keep the place clean or clear tables.

Typical pub with basic pub grub and reasonable selection of beer. Nothing remarkable as there is limited competition on the isle.

This hidden gem is so worth seeking out the staff are extremely welcoming the crab sandwiches are to die for and local real ales on tap What more can you want - well its bang on the coast with direct access to the beach and the coastguard station alongside.
