First and foremost I would like to say the cafe is called POND VIEW NOT KINGS COFFEE. The staff were very friendly and the coffee excellent. We didn’t have to wait long to be served . I think this review should go under Pond View cafe not Kings coffee

Visited Jewels Lounge Bar on Saturday 29th November 2014 for a ‘Prosecco & Sharing Platter for two’ using a Groupon Voucher. It was so bad we left after 25 minutes!Let’s start with the positives; it is in nice location in the pretty village of Norton and overlooking the duck pond. From the outside it looks totally uninviting and very drab.On arrival, you enter a room with a few tables which looks rather odd. We went up some stairs and into the bar. Although it was busy, it lacked any form of atmosphere and I felt as if we were sitting in somebody’s front room. The staff appeared to be running around with no organisation whatsoever. We sat at the table for a while then a young man came over and said “do you want the Prosecco now or later”? He then proceeded to plonk the bottle and two glasses onto the table, not even offering to pour it or anything. He then asked if we wanted the platter now or later, which upon arrival was absolutely dreadful. In my experiences, antipasto sharing platters accompanied by wine are totally delicious and tasty, however, this was nothing of the sort. What arrived was a platter that had very obviously been prepared on a plate many hours before and chilled until serving. The 2 slices of ciabatta bread were freezing cold and soggy where moisture off the plate had soaked into the bread. The olives appeared to be the cheapest maybe jarred olives similar to a supermarket ‘value’ range, certainly not a marinated style of delicatessen olives. The cold meat selection was dry with curled edges. The sliced tomato with mozzarella was tasteless, the salad leaves were wet and limp and the hummus, again, was very poor quality akin to a cheap supermarket value brand. Overall a very disappointing visit and we would not return, nor recommend this bar to our friends.

This is a nice little cafe' that serves really nice food at excellent value prices, the only criticism is the service, we have been in on a few occasions recently and they always seem to apologise as they are short staffed, it's just getting a bit repetitive now and they should really be doing something about it as each time we have been in they have always been busy so can justify additional staff.

Visited today with the family for a lunchtime meal. Not the first time I've visited here as it's a personal favourite of my nanas. However nothing ever seems to go perfectly each time we visit. Previously, food has been accidentally "dropped" (luckily it landed on the table!) and twice in a row has someone's meal been mucked up with the wrong food coming. Luckily for me, my food (although taking a while) came as ordered and is really rather tasty. It really is a lovely little cafe type restaurant and it looks great since being redecorated but silly mishaps tend to put a dampener on an otherwise great place.

Kings Coffee is situated above the newsagents on the Green at Norton, Stockton on Tees. I don't know how to classify it. It is more than a coffee shop and not quite a restaurant and add to that it opens 3 nights per week for cocktails, so what is it ?What I can say is that it serves good food and passable coffee and a range of artisan teas. I had the mediterranean (feta, tuna, peppers etc) in a lovely fresh warm baguette, with side salad and coleslaw, if it had some capers it would have been perfect. My wife had a smoked salmon scrambled egg and it was more than sufficient.

...when it is served in two slices of untoasted bread! My hubbie is something of a Club Sandwich expert, it's his favourite lunch time snack, so imagine his upset when we popped into Kings and he was served with a white bread sandwich of chicken, bacon and other bits thrown in. When we explained to the waitress that a club sandwich should be toasted, she looked a bit confused and took it away. It came back as a TOASTIE! Oh dear! He ate it but is now vowing never to return, which would be a shame. Kings has some very good things going for it, nice selection of quality beverages, tea pigs are a personal favourite and I've had some nice cakes in the past too. However, my eating experiences have at best been average. Previously I've had the thai fishcakes (way too spicy - I did mention this when we left, so may be better now), rubbery scrambled egg and smoked salmon, an ok jacket pototo and an average bowl of soup. This time I have a cooked breakfast,, the bacon would have been better with the fat taken off and I prefer a quality sausage (after all Blackwell's the butchers is just over the road), but it was passable. On a positive note, the staff are nice, the place is in a great spot, the pricing is right, it just needs to get the cooked food on par. Perhaps I've been unlucky? For the record, a club sandwich is THREE slices of toasted, quality white bread, the first layer is chicken, lettuce and mayo, the seconds layer is bacon (no fat please!), cheese and usually tomato, cut into 4 triangles and held together with 4 cocktail sticks.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The panini was fine, fresh and tasty and came with a side salad. We also ordered a portion of chips - which were very nice! The prices are reasonable and it has a lovely atmosphere. There is also a little childrens corner, complete with books and even a blackboard to keep them quiet which I thought was a great little touch as not many coffee shops offer this! We bought a honeycomb coffee to take away which was lovely. Would return to this place to try some of the other stuff on offer.

This Coffee shop does things well and that includes Sunday Lunch. My daughter and step daughter who are both typical teenage girls, adored the lunch but was equally impressed by the Victoria Sponge. We will definatelty be returning soon.

Kings was highly recommended to me so I chose them to provide a buffet for a family celebration. I was not disappointed, the service was superb, they were very patient and helpful when we were considering our options and choices. The food was excellent, well presented and very tasty just like "homemade". It was a welcome change to have proper plates rather than paper ones! The selection of cakes were fabulous! They certainly went the extra mile to provide a first class service. Thank you

After eating breakfast at numerous establishments King Coffee was by far the best. The food was prepared in record time and at great value. A nice warm cozy eatery with a fantastic view of the village green.

We booked kings catering for a joint 50th and 21st birthday party at home. The food was excellent. We opted for the basic cold buffet at £4.95 per head for 70 guests and oedered cupcakes and tarts as an alternative to the usual cheescake/gateaux, these were a hit with everybody.

King's Coffee is located across from the duck pond on The Green in Norton. Julie, the owner and Tracey, one of the waitresses do an excellent job at making you feel welcome. The coffee and teas are great, and our children love the hot chocolate. The panini's are awesome. Thanks King's Coffee!

I used to love this place, the food is good and the staff have always been and generally still are excellent with the exception of the new lady who is very unprofessional and rude and made me feel very uncomfortable when I went in recently. Being around while she spoke to staff and customers the way she did wasn't pleasant, and she clearly has no idea what she's doing. It's very chaotic in there recently, not at all the relaxing atmosphere I used to go in for. Given the rising costs I understand changes being made but putting up the price of milkshakes and cutting the quality is just cheeky, when you buy "speciality" you expect good quality.

This was our second attempt to enjoy Sunday lunch here. Sadly the experience was once again poor and we won’t be back. Waited far too long (35 minutes) for a drink. Bread stale, roast beef too fatty and vegetables tough to cut! Eton mess poor!

We had afternoon tea today and it was absolutely lovely. Our waitress Libby was very attentive and made it a very pleasurable experience. Nothing was too much trouble and the setting was perfect.

Our 2nd visit to this Excellent pub, they do 2 for £15 even on a Friday night where lots of pubs are Monday to Thursday only. They have 3 or 4 flavour thatchers on draught that I can't find anywhere else. Warm and welcoming. As a party of 4 we sat in the corner out the way and ordered food and a couple of drinks.... Very reasonable prices. The lad came over 20mins ahead of time to let us know the child in the group had to leave so no rushing about. Definitely somewhere we will be returning to. I would say the car park seems small for the size of the pub and you would expect parking issues but we have never had a problem getting parked.
