A very disappointing evening at Kings the service was awful took ages to take our order then we waited an hour for our starters then they were getting our order confused with another table . The mains were just plonked on the table the rice took another age to come. Plates were cleared before we had all finished. We were not asked if we wanted deserts or coffee just had the bill dumped on the table. There were only 18 people in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. There were 4 staff working so.no readon why it was like a trip to Faulty Towers!!!

I reviewed this restaurant in 2015, and have been back many times every year since. In fact when lockdown ended, one of the first things we and our friends wanted to do was come here! I felt compelled to review again as there are some very unfair reviews, which don’t match my innumerable experiences here. The food is great, the staff are friendly, especially Ash ( who unexpectedly delivered a takeaway we had in February!) it is usually packed and buzzing, and it is excellent value for money. It is BYO and they don’t charge corkage, which is is uncommon and increases the VFM. I’ve never been disappointed, and if you are, you must have different ideas of what makes a great Indian meal to me!

Had the displeasure of ordering a takeaway for here this evening, possibly the worst decision I could have made. Food was taste less, cheap ingredients used and over priced for the quality and size of the portions. Really disappointed as it was for a treat while visiting family, £51 wasted.

Well where do I start... * ordered at 8pm. Come 9pm and received nothing, gave a phone call and was told 5 mins, the meal came at 9:30pm (this is on a Wednesday night) * Ordered the 1 Chef’s House - Jhinga Masala (mild) and 1 Sagwalla lamb and they both came 50% water content, room temperature and the lamb was uncooked to the point is was not edible with a tasteless water sauce * The naan bread was raw dough in the middle so was not possible to eat * The mushroom rice had congealed mushrooms in it that had clearly been from a tinned can (when I asked them about this they said it was “fresh” mushroom). Take a look at the pics and you be the judge of that. The mushrooms were very hard and rubbery. The rice was not cooked and had hard bits of uncooked rice in it. To top it off the rice was stone cold. * The sauces mint yogurt and mango sauce tasted like the cheapest possible sauce you can get and we’re again, very watery * The chicken tikka we ordered we thought was a curry but instead for £7.50 you just get a few lumps of chicken and that’s it... * when I called up to question if everything was ok in their kitchen and explained how bad my order was I got the “no one complains about our food line and we have great reviews” line and was offered 20% off the next order... You literally could not get anything more wrong with a takeaway curry and has left me £40 down and I had to go out to Tesco to buy a ready made curry which tasted far better... needless to say the curry went in the bin unfortunately as we genuinely could not eat it Astonishingly poor experience..

Ive twice visited Kings, the first just because 'I fancied and Indian.' The frontage is utterly unassuming and inside is a throwback to the 80s with everything no frills old school. So I wasnt expecting anything special. The food turned out to be exceptional, great flavours, lean meat, and really tasty. Prices were very reasonable. It's byo so no ramped up drinks bill. Second visit, again everything delicious. When we arrived about 720pm we were the first but by 8pm every seat taken and there was a healthy buzz in the place. Not surprising as it's unbeatable value to my mind. There's plenty of parking in the nearby side streets, The owner was friendly when I explained we made a special stop as the meal was so delicious. Despite the place being full and him being alone serving his manner was relaxed throughout. The food is well worth the wait and there's always the tasty poppodums to tide you over. Great friendly no frills eaterie.

STAY AWAY DO NOT BUY The staff are revolting, they are horrendously rude and that includes the management. I have used Kings Balti Palace for a number of years and despite asking them to re check my order before they send, they don’t. I recently called them and had the phone put down on me five times. I went in to see them and complain, they told me to “f off” and get on with it. Offended as I was, I got home and realised they had only given me 1/3 of the order. I will never use this restaurant again because, of there rudeness, poor service and failure to complete an order!! I have never experienced such rude behaviour in all my life. STAY AWAY -DO NOT BUY

We did not know that they do not serve alcohol and although we were told that we could buy some from the Cooperative store next door, and they would not charge for corkage, we just stayed with soft drinks. I've given this a 4 rating for the food quality but the proprietors might want to upgrade the toilets which, at the time of our visit, had dust and dead insects on the shelf. Slightly off putting.

The quality of the freshly prepared food is consistently high. We have worked our way through most of the menu over many years, but still come back to the chicken tikka masala, followed by coconut ice cream as our all time personal favourite choices. CTM has been often tried elsewhere, but never bettered. Often busy between 7pm-7.30pm on Friday/Saturday, but there is usually a table available after 8pm. Personal service and reasonable prices have made this a frequent venue for my wife and I over several years.Chicken Tikka Masala may sound passe, but we admit to trying this dish at other restaurants, and agree that Kings is king! We have worked our way through most of the menu at one time or another, and have to say that the freshly cooked ingredients score top marks for the chefs. We know that they are hard at work for many hours before the restaurant opens it doors to the public each day. We have rarely needed to book a table, but find that 7-8pm tend to be the busiest times for table service. The take-away and home delivery service seems to be a poorly kept secret locally - and is obviously as popular as the restaurant. The coconut ice cream dessert is a perfect finale to any hot dish.Parking is usually available right outside the premises, unless you arrive at a particularly busy time. Our local Indian restaurant to which we ventured for a family meal for the first time in a long while. Unpretentious and basic decor, but reasonable quality and good value. Bring your own alcohol quite a good cost saving feature. The flavour of the food was good although the quality of the chicken - a bit firm and 'warmed over' - detracted from a couple of dishes. Popadoms, rice and naans excellent. Service friendly and efficient. Our kids enjoyed it and a good sized meal for 4 cost only £37. The service is exceptional and Ash really makes you feel welcome. What I have found throughout the years is no matter if you just want a quick bite to eat or you have a large party, you can be assured that you will be warmly welcomed and not rushed out the door once finished.

All the usual curries - they are all great, plus some different Options - roshunwala, shatkora (a citrus fruit) - both delicious.Great prices & bring your own drinks, make this really affordable. Ash runs the place and is really friendly. Free local deliveries to.

Really nice food. Got a rake away and driver had real difficulty finding the house. When it came the portion sizes were smaller than I imagined Food was very tasty. 4 samosas, a starter and a naan bread, £29? Its too much

This was our first time trying roganjosh based on recommendations. Sadly it didn’t match expectations.. The good things first - the portion sizes were good, delivery was on time, tandoori chicken, peshawari naan and garlic naan were really good. The bad things - the chicken biriyani was a mixed peas, red peppers and chicken rice with more of a turmeric flavour than anything else. That’s not biriyani.. The chicken madras didn’t have much flavours other than turmeric and the raw heat of chilli powder. It is supposed to be flavourful and not just hot. Maybe we ordered on the wrong day, but we are disappointed… the search continues to find the perfect Indian takeaway that’s not my own kitchen!

Went with my partner last night and food and service were great. We’ll be back for sure. The waiter who we spoke to about kids (my partner is pregnant) was great!

Really enjoyable location and staff were very pleasant. Super expensive unfortunately but overall food was very nice and service totally consistent. A nice place for that unusual experience.

WARNING! This restaurant is a scam! I had ordered Madras chicken curry, Shrimp Bhuna Balti and North Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken and all three dishes looked the same and tasted the same and what's worse all 3 dishes were ghastly in taste. No where near what they should tasting like. Complete disrespect of their respective regions in India. Also, their biryani was just horrible! It was like they served random masala glazed pulaf in the name of biryani. These guys are a scam in the restaurant business. Please steer clear from them!
