I am giving up ordering tea cakes from the kingfisher cafe. You would think it’s not that hard to produce a toasted tea cake that was not burnt to a crisp and inedible. But no, time and again the staff at the kingfisher cafe manage to bring to the table a burnt offering. I would not be happy to take the last one I had to a paying customer. The cafe itself is lovely and clean and friendly staff but good grief sort out your standards of acceptability with your food. Particularly the tea cakes.

Situated in the Wildlife Centre, which is a lovely place to walk around. Helpful and friendly staff. Good coffee and food is always tasty - with a reasonable amount of specials. We also like the fact that the profits help the charity.

Visited the cafe this week. Last year we ate there and had a lovely meal - tasty quiche and a lovely fresh salad so was really disappointed with the reduced menu. The jacket potatoes had just run out so my husband and I chose paninis. They seemed very hard and doughy - almost stale. We had also ordered a portion of chips to share. They arrived in a very small bowl ( pretty expensive for the portion size). They were acceptable but not moreish. With two juice drinks, the cost of this meal was almost £18.00. The food at the neighbouring garden centre looked far more appetising.

Called here for a takeaway lunch following our walk on Cannock Chase first day of second lockdown. Everything was absolutely right from Covid point of view we had no worries at all. The food, typical National Trust style sandwiches and cakes. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful the food was well prepared and very fresh. A real surprise to us,..we’ll certainly be back.

We went on Sunday 5th July and after the cafe has reopened from lockdown they have done a sterling job to keep customers safe. We had a delicious ham salad sandwich and the staff were friendly and welcoming as always! Well worth a visit while you're enjoying the wildlife.

Set in the Trusts park this gives the opportunity for a stroll and then a visit to the cafe. Now very popular and rightly so. Excellent range of very good snacks/meals and reasonably priced. Staff are great. Well worth a visit and much nicer than the next door garden centre!

Visited several times since their wonderful refurbishment which really MAKES this Wildlife Centre. Absolutely fabulous for all ages, particularly children and the menu is delightful and the food is really well made. There is a short wait but that is a good sign as it’s not pre-prepared and re-heated. Good seating, friendly staff, and dog and child friendly. Also with the bonus of the extensive Wildlife Centre to explore. See if you can spot a kingfisher! The cafe closes at about 15:30 and a bit earlier on Sundays.

We had another lovely meal today, the beef lasagne and salad was very tasty, as were the sausage and chips with peas and onion gravy (should have been bangers and mash but they were so busy that they ran out of mash and so tasy chips were a good substitute, imagine the look on my husbands face when those who had pre-ordered christmas dinner were served large helpings of mash but, due to large portions and perhaps small appetites hardly touched it, whilst my husband who was longing for the mash, couldnt have any, oh dear LOL! The shepherd's pie with cheesy parsnip mash was enjoyed last week and also the liver, bacon and onions was a delight. Other favourites are the bacon and egg sandwiches and the fruit scones. All the staff are friendly and professional and all the food is freshly prepared, we can thoroughly reccomend. We sat there today, on a very wet day and were able to watch the wildfowl whilst we ate, very relaxing.

I have visited many times since this brilliant cafe opened its doors! The array of food on offer is fantastic, with lots of homemade options and also taking into consideration those with dietary requirements. I have visited for an afternoon cup of tea and cake, lunch and breakfast, all of which have met our requirements and have been loved by all. We will definitely be returning no matter what the weather!

The Royal Oak is always extremely lively...the heart of an otherwise quiet old town.
