Oh dear! Store is closing! 10 Sept '24 visit. Lovely lady behind counter advised the sad news that owner was selling the business and the store has to close. Any entrepreneurs about? Great wee location to supply post office and sandwiches to a lot of residents and we tourists. Gorgeous part of the world - rain or shine.

Bozza creata in agosto 2018

Unfortunately we could not have a drink because the new coffee machine had not been delivered. It is due by mid-May. However, the village store is worth a visit if you are in the vicinity. They stock bread and cakes which are baked locally. They were fresh and tasty. The member of staff was very apologetic about the lack of cafe facilities but that was beyond her control.

We were recommended this cafe by our airB&B hosts at Balvicar Boathouse a few miles drive away, but well worth it! Excellent range of vegan options, well presented and so tasty. Got our postcards and stamps in the post office here too! If we're in the area again we'll definitely be coming back

We stopped at the vegan cafe called Catch a carrot- what a find, the food was amazing and the coffee with oat milk was delicious. I would definitely recommend the cheesecake and coconut cupcake. Very friendly owner only just opened, I would definitely visit again, currently open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11.30 to 3.30 and dogs are welcome. It can be found above the post office.

Was happy to stop off at this cafe during a cycling loop starting in Oban. There's no fancy coffee machine, but the coffee from the cafetiere was still decent. We ate our excellent vegan apple-cake outside, so didn't spend much time in the cafe itself. But the cafe and two customers very were friendly, and the biodegradable food and drink containers were a good touch. I'll definitely stop off again next time I'm cycling in the area.

We stopped off here for some breakfast on Thursday morning. The whole place looked delightful: bright, eclectic, clean - someone has put their heart into this! There were no other customers when we arrived, but the woman doing the cooking looked harassed even so. We ordered coffee and bacon rolls, one with an egg, to take away, but couldn't help feeling like we were being a bit of a nuisance! While the bacon was cooking, some more customers arrived and went up to the counter to order food. They were told, 'I'm serving those other people; I'll get to you when I've finished with them,' and they retreated to a table, tails between their legs. Some other customers arrived shortly after that, and after loitering by the counter and being ignored they, too, went and sat down. Our rolls were brought over to us with no egg, as this had been forgotten during the flurry of bacon-cooking. The woman took the bag with the egg-less roll in it back and fried up an egg. She returned it to us, telling us she'd broken the yolk. She had - it had oozed all over the bottom of the bag. There was no offer to re-do it, and frankly we felt like we'd worn out our non-existent welcome anyway, so we went downstairs to pay the monosyllabic young girl manning the till, and fled. Honestly, I feel gutted for the owners of this business. It's obvious they've worked hard and a homely cafe in this beautiful part of the world could really become a must-visit destination. Perhaps the woman cooking on Thursday was having an off day, as she couldn't cope with multiple customers - or even one single group looking for four bacon rolls. If you're customer-facing, you need to step up and make your customers feel welcome if you want to succeed. We will give this place another go when we're next in the area, but if things are the same then we'll be finding somewhere else to stop off!

We love the coffee and bacon rolls in the cafe but this was our first visit to the restaurant ‘ Room at the Top’ . Our party of three had a lovely meal . Curried cauliflower , chicken and the venison . All beautifully cooked and well seasoned. Good puds to share too - the chef brought them out to us - a lovely touch. Lovely friendly service and a nice botttle of merlot . Highly recommended.

Not sure if we just arrived on a bad day but the 2 ladies running this place were like Basil and Sybil Fawlty. Haphazard and slap dash: dropping food, talking loudly about the customers, telling bizarre stories, forgetting what we had ordered, incredibly slow and generally not able to cope with the demands of several tables at once. It was quite an unbelievable performance. Ths quality of the food was actually pretty good when it finally arrived. But we really wished that we had just carried on down the road to Kilmartin Museum and their lovely cafe instead of experiencing the trauma of this place!!

Have driven past this wee store and cafe many many times and never stopped. We stopped yesterday for some lunch and weren't disappointed. I had a lovely quiche and a salad and my partner had a tomato and mozzarella salad. Both were wonderful and tasty. We finished off sharing a piece of carrot cake and had a coffee and hot chocolate. Great service and fantastic food. You must stop if your passing.

Stopping here was a delight. The cafe was closed as it was a Monday but the shop was open for much needed refreshment. The assistant was very friendly and helpful and the shop itself, although small, was quaint and lovely. It took me back many years to the lovely days when we had lots of little shops like this.

We stopped for coffee and ended up having lunch. Then we bought cakes and took them with us. All the food is excellent and freshly cooked. The cakes were all home-made and out of this world. There is also a 'shop' - but what a shop..........plentiful local produce, including meat and local cheeses. You would never think that so much was available from small premises like Kilmelford Post Office. We shall return.

Had lunch there today 27/7/17 and it was very very good. It is a small cafe and the choice was really good. I had a toastie and my friend had an egg sandwich both of which were delicious. I finished off with carrot cake which was obviously home made. I would definitely recommend this cafe for lunch.

Visited in the early afternoon looking for a quick lunch. Lovely, fresh welcoming decor. Attractive menu - very reasonable priced and the coffee...deep, rich flavor with a hearty aroma. If your in the area... forget large "chain" coffee shops/makes - visit this lovely little gem.

Stopped off here having seen the sign at the roadside. The welcome was warm, the coffee cake was as good as I have ever tasted (and I had several on this trip!) and the proprietor happy to put together a meal for a fussy 13yo using ingredients from the shop at front as well as the menu.

After appalling service at Duck Bay we went here for lunch. Warmly welcomed. High chair for my grandson and the lovely waitress brought a bowl of water for the dog. Food was amazing and we were able to eat it indoors without being rained on because we had the dog (as happened at Duck Bay)! She also brought a treat for the dog. This place is fabulous and welcoming. Had a wonderful lunch and will definitely be back. 5 star service and food.

Seriously over rated & expensive. Stopped for a quick breakfast. Service was so slow that we'd finished a pot of tea by the time the food arrived. Ordered toast, avocado and poached eggs. Toast was cold, eggs cold and avocado had some sort of green sludge mixed through it with toasted oats and seeds on top. Not what was ordered. Not what was on the menu and I had specifically said I wanted something plain. Don't bother - it's not worth it!!
