KIKU in Plymouth

Was a bit confusing to find the place. The sign on the wall blends in. Carpark is not far away. Was unsure if we sat ourselves as no clear host stand or sign. The decor was nice, lovely colour palette. Chairs were a bit scratched up. Was rather chilly inside, so kept our coats on, might have been better sat closer to the middle. Chopsticks were laid the wrong way. Would be nice to also include knives on the table, as they already have spoons and forks. Especially for those who struggle. The tables and everything I could see seemed very clean and polished. Good variety of drinks. My partners food came out very quickly, but I had to wait over 10 mins for mine after he had his. The food was interesting. Good portions, lovely presentations, same as the photos. I wouldn't have it every day, but it made a nice change. Slightly too much teriyaki for my own preference as it pooled at the bottom. Rice was lovely, noodles were good. Meats were juicy. Veggies were nice. During our meal, no one came over to see how the food was. Was unsure how to pay to find you have to use your phone to scan a QR code to then put your details in to finally pay.

My first time eating at a Japanese restaurant and I will be returning very soon. Food was great and friendly service even better. Highly recommend!

Delicious Japanese food, friendly professional service, the interior, low lighting and music create a unique and fun experience. I recommend the yakitori pork skewers (melt in your mouth!), Kuku Maki sushi, the chicken gyozas, and the BBQ sea bream.

Both excellent food and service for a very reasonable price. The Tonkotsu was amazing.

Very tasty food! We ordered miso soup and ramen with pork. The broth has a very multifaceted and rich taste. We paid about £20. We liked the service - the guys are great, they keep it clean, and the speed of service is also pleasing. The cafe is located in the market in the center of Plymouth. The atmosphere is an acquired taste, but overall it is very calm and safe.
