Lovely evening sitting outside watching the world go by, accompanied by great food and service. Thank you to all at New Khyber!

Visited with a friend it was a lovely evening. We have been using for take away for some time but recently the chicken has been very overcooked and dry. The staff are friendly but the food not the best chicken overcooked.

My daughter took me out for a birthday dinner. The food was excellent and the service friendly. The only minor fault , was the mango Kulfi. though refreshing, did not taste of mango. We will definitely be going back

Attended for the first time Saturday Night early evening. Ordered popadoms as soon as we stsrted eating they informed us that our main meal was ready. We told them that we had only started eating,but the staff were constantly hovering removing side plates as and when each person finished. Then they informed us again that the main meal was ready.and started removing plates even though one person was still eating the popadoms. How rude! The main course came my balti was a very small portion and the onions were not properly cooked.Then the plate clearing started again whilst people were still eating. We felt that we were being hurried as ghey probably had other persons booked in. Not a pleasant relaxing meal very disappointing after being recomended by by several friends.

I went with my family first time visiting the new kyber restaurant I loved the food it was very fresh the taste was amazing we loved the atmosphere staff was so friendly the owner name mo was so nice and made as welcome definitely will go again I would recommend this place to anyone

The food is absolutley a beautiful journey. It makes you think about the beautiful colours and tastes of India. It makes you feel warm inside! It is passion , love , wisdom, home! Thank you to the friendly and welcoming staff !

My daughter and I just had another dinner out at the New Khyber, and Ohoo was it lovely! We can't stop thinking it about it. No wonder the restaurant is always buzzing. We shall be making another visit there soon, and can't wait.

I have been remiss in not posting a review of this restaurant, which I visited in early December with a good friend I'd not seen face to face since before the pandemic. We both had similar main courses and rices, but shared a pershawi Naan and the onion bhajis (which were the best I have ever tasted) and the food was excellent and service a little erratic but nonetheless personable. The sole reason I have 'only' given four stars was due to the overall cost of the meals we enjoyed, at £62.50 between us, which was way steeper than a recent visit to one of their competitors, and appreciably more expensive than it was under the previous owner. I will be returning with my wife in coming weeks/months, however.

We were so looking forward to ordering food from the New Kyber restaurant but our experience today on New Years Day was more than disappointing - it was an insult to receive the food order that didn’t even resemble what we had ordered. The food looked like left over scraps, lamb sheek kebab smelt totally off & was inedible, they put together 4 less than half empty veg dishes - that were made up of potato & some cauliflower, chic pea dish we didn’t order, nan bread that was tough as old boots & burnt & soggy, we should have taken this back straight away but we were too shocked that we were presented with what i wouldn’t give out as pig swill! So, so disappointed to be treated this way on New Year’s day or in fact any day really! First order at this restaurant & definitely the last. We paid over £60 for 3 persons - all i can say is that i feel personally insulted that we would be expected to eat this sloppy off food. They gave us a free beer - they can keep the beer. Just please serve edible food!

Popped in here just before the 2nd lockdown and it never fails to disappoint. Food is always very tasty and the staff are incredibly pleasant and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again after lockdown. Best of luck!

We regularly order a take away and are usually very impressed. Tonight the chicken dishes were good quality but we were very disappointed that the vegetable curry contained cheap frozen vegetables of very poor quality. The reason for the lower rating is purely for the poor quality vegetables which we hope will be back to normal soon

A group of us went to the New Khyber today to catch up and good food. We weren’t disappointed. All socially distanced with hand sanitiser so everyone is safe. The food was fantastic and everything was freshly cooked. The waiting staff were lovely and we had a great time. Would definitely go back

Ordered a take away from here (due to lockdown), food arrived hot and tasted great. I stupidly forgot to order some dips so called up and spoke to Sabb, very helpful and sent me some out ASAP.

Ordered a takeaway online at 17:42. Called at 19:35 to find out where the food was and was told the driver was leaving in ten min. Called again at 20:22 to find out where food was and was told food was with the delivery driver and won’t be long. At 21:00 received a call to say order hadn’t been processed. Waiting for a refund!!! Avoid ordering from this place.

Thought I would try this restaurant after hearing it was under new management. I ordered a takeaway meal and I can honestly say it was delicious and the bonus was they deliver. I now have a weekly takeaway and would highly recommend cannot fault them

I love Indian food and was really looking forward to this visit. The food was not good. I expected spice, ginger, garlic, corriander and got oil, bland and boring. I tried to say something in private at reception but was told I should come back and teach the chef how to cook! What a shame.

Friendly staff, disappointing food - sent some back and staff replaced it - but still identical poor quality. Chicken very dry and over cooked, onion bhajis just tastes of oil and batter and very dry, honestly I cook better at home.

Up from Cornwall visiting relatives, always looking to have a nice curry when we come up this place doesn’t disappoint lovely food and service, couldn’t fault it... Delicious...

We’ve been going here for the best part of 25 years and must admit that although we’ve always enjoyed it the New Kyber is a step up from the old one. Mo and the rest of his team should be congratulated on their improvements. A nicer atmosphere which is without doubt due to many more customers than before which was, at times, very quiet. Keep it up Mo. We will be back very soon.

Friends brought us here as they live close by. They said that they hadn’t been since the new ownership and eager to try.The food was very good, the service a little hit and miss but it was a very busy Saturday evening. We started with samosas, prawn purée and garlic mushrooms all very good. There was a bit of a wait for these starters as there was a mix up in the kitchen but plenty of apologies made and the quality of the food made up for this. My prawn dansak was absolutely delicious hot sweet and sour as it should be - we all agree the food was very good indeed and its well worth a visit here :)

Although we used to visit this Indian restaurant frequently, we hadn't been for a couple of years. So when we heard it was under new ownership we thought we'd give it try again - and we're very pleased we did. The food is very, very good but the atmosphere and service is excellent too. The new chef together with Mo in front of house are a great team and we will definitely be back very soon.

The New Khyber really is a different Khyber.

Attention to detail, fresh ingredients and wonderful flavour. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at New Khyber. The only problem is we can't seem to stay away since discovering it!!! Thank you for the great food and wonderful service. This is the best Indian food I have tasted in some time.

Visited this restaurant after reading a very good review in our local FB group, and have to say we were very well impressed! Food was superb. We order our usual: Chicken Biryani, Lamb Rogan Josh, King Prawn Korma, & Garlic Naan Bread. These dishes are our gauge for a brilliant Indian Food. And i have to say, it excelled our expectations!

This is our local for the last 5 years and sadly had gone down hill . 4 of us went last night and the food was delicious. The butter chicken was just wonderful and full of flavour and the onion bhajis were the best all of us had tasted in a long while ! Deep fried balls of loveliness ❤️ I hope it keeps getting better and we will all be back .

In the area for work we took a chance on this restaurant & we’re so glad we did! Incredibly welcoming staff headed up by new owner Mo - they can’t do enough for you. Really excellent food. My husband highly recommends the fish curry. Very impressed.

We have been going to the Khyber for at least 25 years. Previous owner retired and new owner is providing an excellent service. Great food affordable price . Nothing was too much trouble they deserve to do well !

As another reviewer said, this restaurant had been steadily going downhill for years. However, now under new management it is a different restaurant with a much more interesting menu and a distinct quality improvement!! Friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices, give it a try. House wine acceptable and amazingly cheap!

I’ve been using this restaurant for years and it had slowly gone down hill sadly. But now it has new owners and I can’t speak highly enough about it. Fresh, wonderful food, brilliant friendly and super efficient staff and a whole new feel. Excellent in every way! Will now have this as one of my top places to go. Certainly the best Indian food I’ve had in years!

Somehow my original review has been removed and some superb reviews have followed my review of an honest experience We had in this Restaurant which the food was simply awful. The flavours were an insult to Indian cuisine and the promised new chef was apparently beyond belief the allegedly new owner professed. Worst taste of curry I have ever experienced. 4 pieces of chicken. Naan burnt. Awful and insultive. My previous review has disappeared and whoever reviewed after was obviously friends and supporters of a poor quality restaurant. Swerve at all costs. There’s much much better about but be sure there is no worse.

Absolutely brilliant meal. Been coming here for the last year and today was the first time we’ve seen it busy. New menu, new chefs and new staff. Very satisfied with our food. Very filling. Even the rice we shared was enough for two. Looking forward to come back again.

Our first and last visit to this restaurant, service was poor, took 15 minutes before we were even offered a drink, food took over an hour to come out and was not hot when it arrived! No cutlery on table and had to ask several times for another drink!!

I just had to review this restaurant as we had a wonderful meal my wife and I had yesterday. We just moved to Kingswood and we are delighted to think this is up with the best Indian food we have tasted.

Don't be fooled of the cosy feel when you go in because the food is dreadful. We ordered onion bhaji witch we sent back because it dripping in oil and was soggy and had no taste a chicken korma that was so sweet it was unbelievable the chicken was no way fresh it was frozen chunks that they just stir in the sauce my wife's dansak had absalutely no flavour or spice and the same dry chicken and there is no way the keema nan was made on sight it was like pizza dough. The only thing that tasted ok was the poppadoms. How can you charge such high prices for such awful food it's discraceful it's a rip off. Think the cheff needs to go on cooking lessons because I know I could serve up better than that at home

This by far is the best curry restaurant I’ve been to. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Always a pleasure to come here and will definitely come back.

Curry was ok - fairly tasty but the poppadoms were not particularly crisp. Main dishes were solid and rice was delicious and cooked perfectly. Naan was ok - nothing to write home about.

We decided to order a takeaway of Chicken Bhuna, with rice, poppodoms etc. We collected the takeaway, and found the staff very friendly and polite. However when we ate the curry it was very disappointing, the chicken was tender, but the whole dish was just bland, it was as if no spices or seasoning of any sort had been used.

It must be over two years since we last ate here and our children thought it would be a good idea to give them another chance. As background, we live locally and for many years this was our favourite Indian. I should emphasise that this was because of the quality of the food (and service) and not simply the convenient location. However, the staff changed and the standards fell. The last time we visited we simply couldn't even stay in the place and left. With that context, we decided it was probably best to have a take-away and I let the children place the order and collect it so that there would be no bias. Unfortunately the quality of the food has clearly not improved. We had ordered five different main dishes and, although they were clearly labelled as what we had ordered, they were impossible to tell apart in either appearance or taste. The disappointment was tangible. It is a shame since the area is crying out for a good Indian and the locals would be great supporters. Maybe an enterprising young chef will spot the opportunity and knock this complacent bunch out.

We have been here a few times now and each times both the service and the food have been excellent.

My nephew, back from a long stay in Chennai, helped us selecting food we enjoyed, also we liked the Indian beer. Unfortunately there was a group of youngsters, about 15 or so next table, and we had to wait a long time for food and beverages with no chance to talk together because of noisy environment. So sad!

This our local Indian resturant. Always enjoy the tasty food .very clean not a lot of atmosphere. Friendly staff, you can always get a table . In a sleepy part of surrey so no passing trade. Do loads of takeaways for the locals . Light and airy resturant. A bit old fashioned. Food never disappoints. Wish it was busier . Would recommend this resturant.

We have been frequenting this Indian for several years. To be honest we go here rather than the Indian restaurant that is more local to us as the air quality seems to be better. The staff, and in particular the owner, are always very welcoming. We often ask for variations on the menu (e.g. A half portion of rice or a different rice with dhansak) and this is never too much trouble. The portion sizes are more than adequate for us. I am surprised by some of the negative comments posted here and do not feel that they match my own experience. Indeed, I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant either for dine-in or takeaway.

TBH it's ok for a curry in a sleepy part Of Surrey. Comparisons to Bradford and Birmingham are unfair. We had a good chat and lot of banter with the staff. What do you expect in a Surrey village?

I've never had a decent curry south of Birmingham, this place continues that theme I'm sad to say. No draft beer, curry and side dish lacked flavour.

Minot much of a welcome here. Staff seem unwilling to engage with customers. And the food could not even be described as average. Probably best to leave it at that.

Such a shame that Kingswood after all these years doesn't have a decent Indian. They rely on the businesses nearby! Place just doesn't have any atmosphere and the portions are ridiculously small!

Been in Kingswood forever, pretty average, really for the non-discerning cliental. Pity that it does not improve in quality, given the price they charge and they have a captive village. Only close indian.

Los cuatro de nosotros nos alojamos en Kingswood Golf Club durante tres días y decidimos visitar este restaurante un viernes por la noche. Tres miembros de nuestro grupo son de origen indio, así que no sé qué buena comida india. El propietario no desea disfrutar de cualquier forma de conversación con nosotros y era grosero y brusco. El servicio era lento y personal no hacen un esfuerzo para conversar con cualquiera de nosotros. La comida era de muy mala calidad, de pollo rebozados tikka masala probado haber sido calentada en un microondas. El Masala cordero era fría y no tenía sabor y la daal en sí era terrible. Nos cobraron 4.50 libras por cuatro poppodoms que es ridículo. La comida nos la cuatro de sentir enfermo una noche y nos causó problemas al día siguiente, de hecho uno de los grupos estaba enfermo tan pronto como nos fuimos. Era caro, sentimos que nos habían tomado el pelo. No mencionamos a Kingswood que tienen a este restaurante en su folleto, nunca más.

No puedo quejarme de este lugar, personal, comida, todo era fantástico. Debe probar la carne methi y el naan Peshwari era divino! Ambiente muy agradable y muy amable.

We are great fans of Indian food and found that the chef here did our favourites just as we like them. In contrast to some other comments on here we had always found the service to be good but now we have to agree. I don't know what has happened but there is a whole raft of new staff and their attitude is not the best. Since the start of the year we have only had one meal that did not have an issue of some kind. The last visit was enough for us to walk out without even waiting for our food. Such a shame but hey there are plenty of other good Indians around.

Don't bother with this place, staff don't care less about customers, service is slow & grumpy - even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant it's still a hard job to get your order taken or a drink order placed, bad attitude, tired restaurant, give it a miss

We have eaten in once, and had take out twice from this place (we only occasionally have Indian, but it's our local). Not much more to add to the headline - but to sum up they are reliable, produce very tasty food (tonight it was all excellent - butter chicken, rogan josh, prawn puri etc) and all at a price that seems very good value. As it's our local, we will return.

Food is your typical Indian fare, fairly priced and generous portions. Restaurant really lacks any ambience and feels very sterile and cold, The staff are equally sterile and cold and could certainly be friendlier

Had a meal here this evening. Arrived just before 8pm nobody in the restaurant - I thought that was strange for a Friday night. However this did change and by the time I left at 9pm the place was nearly full.Overall a pleasant meal, during the meal we ordered two large cokes with our meal, the large coke was a can and a half poured into a pint glass, so three cans shared between two people - the price £7.50. Food was nice and tasty - but let down with the blatant rip off with the drink.

Whilst the Restaurants decor and service were good, the Lamb Shank curry I had was very poor. The lamb was tough and the sauce contained burnt onions and burnt garlic floating in ghee, so not a great combination. The Chicken Jalfrazi was similarly spoiled and the rice over cooked. We both left at least half of our curry but we're not asked if anything was wrong. Luckily the Nan was good.The food and drinks were reasonably priced but the Service charge was already added to the bill, though to be fair this was only added against the food!Nowadays, there are so many good Indian restaurants that I'm surprised this poor quality of food still exists.

Well that was a bit weird. My friends and I stopped by, first of all I have to say the food tasted pretty good, all the dishes were consistently above average; however the service was a bit strange. First we sat down and had to wait to be given menus, the place was practically empty (on a Saturday night). We actually came here because the pub we tried to go down the road had no tables left; it was Father's Day weekend. Anyway, perhaps they had new waiting staff. We ordered drinks, my friend's drink didn't arrive but he was given an empty glass with ice (!?!?!). The number of rice dishes was wrong too. All these didn't affect our dining experience, it was just a bit strange. The bill came to just under £100 for the five of us so that was brilliant (starter+main+soft drink each). If the takeaway food is as good as what was served to us then I would definitely recommend it. With regards to dining experience, not too brilliant, tired decor, a bit dark and nothing that sparks inspiration.

As a family we have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. Last night we went there after a break of about 6 months. Same lovely people to serve us and we all had really good meals. I just love the linen table cloths and presentation generally. Good value with compared to other similar restaurants locally.

The restaurant was empty, other than ourselves, which should have resulted in attentive service... we were essentially ignored unless gesturing to our waiter or the owner. The food all looked the same when it arrived and didn't seem to fit the menu description. We were suspicious as to whether there was even a chef there that night as the owner would rush into the kitchen whenever anything was due to be served. Perhaps that's why my husband had an upset stomach that night. We hadn't been to Khyber Tandoori for about 6 months and wanted to support it even though it's not the best in the area. Never again.
