Stopped at this newly refurbed KFC Broomfield rd in the hope that it might have improved.....how wrong we were! first none of the automated card only machines for ordering were working and counter cash only. after finally managing to pay, food arrived, once home with takeaway found that one portion of chips was missing (not unusual) and that the vegan burger was completely rock solid and inedible and can only assume that it was reheated from earlier, was not worth the effort to drive back to complain but will definitely not be using this branch again. best option close it down and use the more professional and polite branch at Springfield.

Rude customer service, forced out and threaten to ban us for something we didn’t do, harassed by servers when they forgot sauces and elements of our food. There was raw chicken and the disrespect from the staff was just unreal. Definitely don’t recommend to anyone.

It was awful, horrible atmosphere throughout the entire time we were there. Decided to go to the drive through and the person taking our order was not patient or kind. Once we had ordered we went to get our food and paid which went alright. Although it was very awkward and they were talking about us. Then they proceeded to BANG on the car when our food arrived. When she gave the food she tried to ban us for something we didn’t do and was awfully rude. They didn’t even add the sauces we PAID for in the bag so we had to go inside to get them. When AGAIN the staff were rude.

After we ordered, an incredibly rude woman BANGED on our window and scared my friend. She asked if we had asked the boy at the window for his details (which we clearly didn’t). She proceeded to tell us we were banned?! For something we never did! We explained to her we didn’t do it and she walked off. She gave us our food WITHOUT elements of our order and I’m convinced she put spicy sauce in my burger. Absolutely atrocious woman and customer service, should be very ashamed of acting like that and will not succeed elsewhere with that type of attitude. Will NOT be coming back.. EVER. Please avoid.

My first visit after they revamped... and half my order was missing. You can't polish a turd, I guess. It shouldn't be too difficult to put the right food in an order but this branch of KFC struggle. Always check your order before leaving with a takeaway

Went on a quiet eve (27/12/23) service quick - 6pc bucket + chips for TAKE-AWAY. Chips not crisp - and tasted re-heated. Chicken tasted nice and moist - but coating also not too crisp, probably due to condensation inside the bucket.

I bought a Chicken Fillet Burger for lunch, full price, no offer, so was expecting to get what i asked for? Instead, i got a burger with a thin breaded fillet (over cooked and dry) that was clearly from frozen and dipped into the chip fryer to warm up and re-heat. Even Burger Kings chicken Royals taste much better than that! Disgusting, will not go back to this restaurant, but the one in Springfield Chelmsford always seems to provide much better quality and service so will only go there from now on.

Just received a delivery from this KFC in Chelmsford. Paid £35 and to be honest I feel ill now. The chicken was smelly, very tough, dry and definately not fresh. It was around 3pm so a little after lunch, but still they are open all day and should expect to have their food cycled and re-freshed on a continuous basis, once it gets old and dry, it should be thrown out. I had a successful restaurant in Chelmsford for 5 years and that was my policy, if it's been in the bain marie heating for more than a hour, it hits the bin. So this was probably the worst KFC I have had ever! Smelly dry chicken is not for customer consumption and a health hazard. I may report this to the health authority to get an inspection. For sure i won't be going there or getting a dellivery from there again. Check this out....even my dog won't eat it!!!! unbelievable. It's gone in the bin. KFC need to be notified as this is giving the main company a bad rep, and from what i now see, this particular store has a pretty bad rep already ( I should have checked this before ordering to be honest) I'm feeling more sick as i write, so I will end this now and hope i haven' been food poisoned. Be careful folks, you have been warned.

Was told 5 mins for mini fillits ended up 20 mins and all I got told was theres the food no sorry for the wait or anything WON'T BE COMING BACK ANYTIME SOON

Dreadful, simply dreadful. Used drive thru totally wrong order given, nothing we had ordered, chips - all 20 of them cold, wrong drink, majority went in the bin. Total waste of over £17, disgusting & won’t be back. Place should be closed down

Ordered an 8 piece boneless bucket for my 7 year old and her friend for a sleepover. I recorded myself opening it and instead of getting 8 pieces of boneless fillets all we got was 2 fillets, 1 side rib, 1 wing and 2 spicy hot wings. It took over 3 hours for them to answer the phone. They said they couldn’t do anything, even though I’d taken a video of me opening it with the receipt on show too. Also time and date. Will not be returning.

I ordered a family boneless bucket this evening which included a large popcorn chicken. The order arrived quickly and the bags were sealed, upon opening the bags the large popcorn chicken was not inside after calling the restaurant multiple times I was informed unless I came to the restaurant they could not give me a refund for the missing items even though I paid online. Will not be using again also after looking on the website I can not see anywhere to make a claim or complaint so this is my complaint to KFC. Terrible customer service

Visited last night for the very LAST time. The person serving did not appear to be interested in communicating with us from the start.Our take out order was incorrect, and the fries were almost cold, one plus, the chicken was nice and tasty and hot, at least they got one thing right!! WILL NOT BE VISITING AGAIN.

Called in at KFC basidon on the way back from southend , a day out with the family, found the staff very helpful , made our order but asked could the chicken be breast not legs , the young lady said she would tell the servers our request . On getting our meals found the chicken Not breasts but , it seemed dry old dried up bits falling apart . Complained to our server who tried her best to resolve our problem, however a senior member of staff stepped i in and indicated that was the best they could do ? We then indicated . take it away and they refunded part of the meal . I would urge you NOT To Use This Out Let ! ! They are distroying KFC image .

Ordered 2 meals and received only one meal when I got home. Called the restaurant the lady managers responded its not our problem. the time I was on the phone food for me got cold and other meal wasn't even there but got charged for it. Avoid this place at all cost. Rubbish customer service. This reviews on TripAdvisor says it all.

I thought the old KFC in Chelmsford was the worst in England... well done Colnel, with the new Springfield drive through, you have surpassed it! Absolutely foul... there is no words to describe the soggy disgusting mess of chicken pieces that were provided to me and my 2 boys. To top it, the order was wrong, missing 2 main meals, and I was treated like a criminal when I questioned the contents of the bag... No mate, I didn't just order the 1 to cover all 3 of us in the car.... I vow to never go to another KFC again... its more than disgusting

Went to this KFC the other day with my wife. We usually order a couple of Milkies (Milk shakes) and a bargaining bucket. We got around to the window and they gave us the price of the order. £18? This is called fast food, does KFC stand for Crazy Freaking Prices? Because it sure looks that way. When we handed over our tesco club card they said that it doesn’t work at kfc and we would have to go some place else. Never buying from here again

The SWF Branch Used the drive thru on 01.06.21 around 6pm and took our dinner home. We ordered a family feast . Got all the way home and no sides! Two large beans missing. Being a 15 minute drive away there was no way we could go back. Just not good enough. And it was my partners birthday.

My fiancée and I normally deliver food from this restaurant. Tonight we’ve decided to finish our shift picking up a KFC menu for each other and I just feel sorry for all of my clients whom has ordered from KFC Broomfield. We have received the chips re fried, which means completely tough. Some of the chicken pieces came absolutely cold and the krushems have been “shakes” by hand as I saw a girl kind of hidden doing these way. That’s why all the flavour came concentrated at the bottom. Very very disappointed.

This is one of the worst places to eat... I like KFC as a fast-food outlet, generally speaking, but the branch on Broomfield Road is particularly terrible. I strongly advise you to eat anywhere else. There's a Tesco convenience store next door - just buy food from there.Last time I ordered the food was not what I wanted and the food was damaged. I got my money back and had to make 5 separate complaints. The customer service was not great, either, and that's probably due to a lack of experience in the leadership team. I also read the other reviews written about this branch and can't really say I'm surprised.

I prefers the 6 piece bucket of chicken which comes with 4 fries. I received one leg, 3 slimey thighs and two chicken wings. When I complained to the manager he simply told me that all those pieces are acceptable and I have no basis for complaint. Out of the 4 persons who exactly gets what out of that awful selection, not to mention I paid 9 pounds for 3 boxes of popcorn chicken! I will never be ordering from there again! If I could put 0 stars I would have.

Order a 10 piece Variety Bucket of Chicken. The bucket had no variety. It contained only thighs and legs. I spoke to the store manager who said they don’t grantee type of Chicken. He offered no apology. Poor quality, cold chicken, poor experience.

Staff member had a disgusting attitude. Waited a very long time in drive through waiting at the intercom to be spoken to. Then was greeted at the window by a very rude member of staff. This was our first KFC after total lockdown, and my other half was especially looking forward to it.Sadly the chicken was dry and tasteless, the chips tasted like cardboard, and they gave us the wrong order drink. The only thing they didn't mess up was the corn on the cob, but even that was over cooked.Most of it went in the bin.Don't go. Buy a Tesco ready meal instead as even that will be better than this travesty of a KFC.

We've visited many times in the past having been unfortunate enough to frequent the nearby Hospital on way too many occasions. Previously we've encountered rude, incompetent staff, poor service and many other flaws. The recent overhaul, in our experience, may have remedied much of that.They have, as with our other "local" KFC in Braintree, refurbished and modernised the restaurant including new self-service point-of-sale touch screens. I decided to give one a try, having given up on a previous attempt at their Braintree outlet. It was relatively easy to use and a little trial and error allowed us to place our order fairly swiftly. We grabbed the standard wet wipes, salt, straws, and serviettes required for optimum KFC consumage and waited a couple of minutes at most for the arrival of the food. Had to go back briefly to get the sauces from the order that'd been forgotten but the food was fresh and at good temperature. It was decided (by the wife and son) that some form of dessert was necessary and having victoriously conquered the self-service I returned to my vanquished foe for a second crack. Unfortunately, due to a combination of my wife always picking the awkward less frequently ordered stuff and the fact their touch screens seemed to not contain said items I retreated, tail betwixt legs, and ordered from a friendly member of staff.It was a pleasant visit, made more so by having seemingly nailed our timing and arriving pre rush at around 12PM. Previously we only visited out of necessity as it was the closest fast food to Broomfield Hospital, but since the changes we include it in the options for lunch whenever around the Chelsmford area.

I went for 14 piece bargain bucket and it was all cold and oily drumsticks and cheap cuts. There was no breast or white meat. This is not the first time that this has happened at this awful KFC. It is the worst I have been to I thought the first time this happened was a mistake. But it has now happened to me twice here. The management must have told staff to use the cheapest of cuts to save them money. Terrible management and a rip off to customers.....

Brown slimy chicken not like it used to be. There was always a que of cars at the drive through but not anymore as the food is quite rancid now .

I very rarely want a KFC but today was the day I did. Drove through empty drive through as screen on monitor was blank so I assumed not working ? Met by a sour teen called Anda who on no amount of questioning could NOT take my order at the window. I asked why. I had to go back and speak to her through the screen Baring in mind drive through empty. Now I’m sure it is protocol to take orders through the screen and I’m sure in some jobs breaking protocol is impossible or even life threatening. I do not believe that this is the case for a KFC order taker. Ridiculous. It looks though I’m not alone in abandoning KFC for good

Food not very hot. Asked for no ice, had to return to the counter to ask for a spare cup to remove the ice from both our drinks. Ordered a three piece chicken meal and was served 3 drumsticks. Would not recommend.Had to pay extra to have regular pepsi.

The tall server was a lovely guy, a huge smile on his joyful face made not only my visit but my day. This young fellow greeted me into the establishment and received my order with the grace and expertise of a seasoned professional. When I bit into the succulent chicken, all my meaty dreams came true- I was in heaven. The building itself was cleaned to perfection, I could see my own face in those immaculate floors. It must have been the work of that fall young man, a credit to the kfc franchise. #Wouldvisitagainthoughstillprefermaccies.

Now don't get me wrong but the KFC tower meal I have just had and two pieces of Chicken in this newly renovated KFC. It was terrible when I picked up one piece of my chicken the oil started to run down my fingers it was soaking in oil and the other piece was just dry and knarly and the chips were old and dry I could ha w been eating cardboard. That's how bad. As for my Tower Meal. The bun they use just falls apart when you bite into it and there was to much sauce I ended up throwing it as I was covered in sauce. Tried to complain but the children at the counter who are serving were to busy trying to chat up a Deliveroo cyclist. So I have given it another chance but won't be back.

Consistently bad - order messed up again. Even when you explain to the staff that the order is usually incorrect they still can’t get it right.

Just had to wait 45 minutes for 3 pieces of chicken & chips. There were a lot of people waiting for orders plus Deliveroo & Just Eat collecting orders also the drive thru was busy.. When we eventually got the order the bag of chips contained about a dozen tiny chips. I suggest to solve this problem KFC open up another place in the town centre!

They had a deal last week: tower burger + fries for £2.99 we went some days later and wanted to eat the same deal. Paid £ 5.98, but we get just one burger and fries. We ordered two of them and the lady didn’t mansion the price change for us and behaved horrible like it is my fault.

Bought a wicked variety 6 piece bucket but when I got home the 8 hot wings were missing. Very disappointed and when I phoned their number, noone picked up. Won't be going here again

Been several times to the KFC in chelmsford, the staff that took my order, was nice and friendly. I got a little confused but he was patient and understanding and helped me decide when I had no clue. After successfully having my order taken with help from the staff, my food got packed quite quickly and the food was warm. Me and my friends enjoyed the friendly hospitality and atmosphere.

The staff here were lovely and patient while I was trying to order food, and helped me and my friends to decide on what to get. The food was made quickly too. The restaurant was tidy and the atmosphere was friendly.

Dreadful experience. I was served over cooked, dry and stale chicken which was obviously the scrappings from the bottom of the cabinet. They thought they could get away with it as I was a drive thru customer who would get home and not bother to come out again. WRONG!! The poor excuse fir a manager then tried to argue the toss and demanded to know what was wrong with it? Anyway, full refund, advise on attention to detail given and a vow never to darken their door again!

I had to go up twice to the counter as they got my husbands order wrong and the 2nd time, my chicken was pink! Half of our pieces were pink come to think of it.

Rude staff that are also very slow...and it is an absolute health hazard inside...all the tables are filthy dirty, food on the floor...it's just dirty and unpleasant....stay well clear.

I have been here a few times and 2 of those occasions where I have been into the restaurant instead of the drive thru I have come across one member of staff who is very unhelpful and rather blunt. When asking if they had one particular thing on the menu as I could not see it listed, the response was yes and I was told to look at the menu... if I could have seen it on the menu I wouldn’t have asked the question..? On the first occasion I went here, the same member of staff came across as slightly rude when I couldn’t hear what she was saying due to the noise and asked her to repeat. Finally, calling customers Ma’am is all well and good and generally quite a polite way to talk to someone, however her blunt tone and patronising attitude contradicts this. Unfortunately I will probably go back because it’s the only KFC in Chelmsford however if I wasn’t such a KFC fan I would never go back again simply due to this experience with this staff memeber.

The chicken and other food is absolutely lovely as always however the staff aren't particularly caring here when preparing food and serving it.

Recently visited here with wife and kids and I won't be visiting again. Staff were shouting at each other behind the till as none of them to get their act together. Food was slow to be served considering this is a fast food place. Once we did get out food the chips were cold and appeared to be a day old, the chicken was full of grease, tasteless and again appeared to be old chicken, the gravy was watery and tasted like sewer water normally other KFC gravy is thick and tastes lovely.

Good chicken most of the time here, does seem to depend on time of day sometimes as you may find you get a very dry crispy piece. Braintree KFC does seem to be a bit less hot and miss than Chelmsford.

Don’t understand why this tasted the way it did. Dry and reheated. They didn’t have salt (?!?!) so chips were tasteless and no gravy. Was ill later that day. Avoid.

Our local KFC is the worst you can use - food is cold every time. One game they also play is advertise something tempting and well put together on the menu then they throw the components into your bag and you needs to assemble it yourself - two things guaranteed it won’t burn you and it won’t look like the picture.

I have been to this drive throu a couple of times and both times have been terrible, the first time I sat in a que for about 25 mins and when I finally reached the order box I was told at 21.20 that they had run out of chicken and the second time I waited 50 mins and when I got the order it was wrong so when I told them the lad tutted and went away eventually I got my order but the food was cold and disgusting, I will never go there again. KFC sell up bring in a Burger King drive throu or Starbucks but KFC krap flipping company leave Chelmsford

Behind only about 5 other cars at drive thru..took about 10 mins to get to order point and when I did, they told me to wait.. another 5 mins approx later before even taking my order. Queues also at the counter several deep. A view behind the scenes confirmed my suspicions that they blatently are very very UNDER STAFFED! and this is not the 1st time either..it would be quicker to drive to another fast ! (that's a joke) food outlet 5miles away !

Waited 10 minutes to order. Ordered 2 mega boxes for the kids and waited 40 minutes for my order which was still wrong!! Complained twice but no good.

Just sat at KFC before their lunch time rush! Soooo slow then the awful staff member got my order wrong so had to change it, could hardly hear her as she mumbled, pretty sure there was no mumbled apology though! Then gave me my box meal but forgot the drink! When I told her she forgot my drink she huffed and said what do you want! When I got home I found that I had a hash brown instead of chicken! Sat here now at 1245 hrs on the 18th of August and have waited 20 minutes to get my food from the one till open at lunchtime. The service here is appalling, the girl at the till shown is the most miserable person I've ever encountered at a service based establishment and clearly hates her job.When you collect you food they then told me there was no ketchup anywhere and only BBQ sauce left in the place!!Worst KFC in the UK possibly. Very slow to get food, took 25mins all in all. I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't classed as fast food. Bacon just about cooked. Chips didn't taste fresh. Overall experience rubbish, won't be going back any time soon

In Broomfield, near a shopping area and close to the hospital. Several visits and not improved. There are often queues and the visits are not quick. It is not clean. The staff are rude, giving poor, slow inefficient service. Food is often cold or luke warm at best and not tasty.Would advise to go elsewhere

KFC Chelmsford seems to have missed the 'fast' part of 'fast food', I can regularly be waiting 30 minutes to order & get my food, then when it arrives the chips are cold 80% of the time, the burgers and chicken are generally pretty good temperature.However at the end of the day, its KFC chicken and you can't argue with KFC chicken...PS: If you're worried about cold food, just ask for it fresh.. the staff are generally pretty good if you ask, but you obviously shouldn't have to do that in the first place.

This was not a pleasant experience. Massive queues and no real strategy for managing the demand, Fast food it was not, The staff are pleasant enough but clearly over stretched. The food when it does arrive is not very nice and by the time you have managed to extract yourself from the ridiculous car park and negotiate the winding queue of drive through customers all equally facing long delays with their engines running and a cloud of exhaust fumes to accompany your departure, when finally you get home to eat it is invariably cold and unappetising. difficult to find anything to recommend this KFC outlet

From the reviews I've read I don't know how this restaurant is still open! I used to love KFC but if this is how they want to run there business I can't see them being around for much longer!

Service was great, food came quick and hot, table and toilets were clean. Staff were very polite, would eat there again

Couldn't get anywhere near the drive through last Saturday as there were about 15 cars queueing from the drive through out on to the main road, hence blocking access to the car park too. Turned away and returned Monday evening.. only 4 cars in front at the drive through, but it still took forever to get to the order point..and this is supposed to be a 'fast food' outlet . The (bucket) chicken itself was ok, but the fries were just limp, cold & tasteless.. probably the worst out of all the fast food outlets.

Very very bad food all over the floor staff won't clean very slow cold food when we finally got it chips was hard also on one occasion went through drive through paid over £35 as couple of buckets as their was loads of us and time got home stuff missing and the manager said bring it all back? Yeah get on your bike mate after I've driven all the way home which took under an hour absolutely disgusting KFC Gallows KFC lakeside KFC Bluewater KFC Westfields All the above is so much better than this waste of a place
